As we grow older with WoW, we might not realize
exactly
how much this game has changed over the years. In this new series, we take a trip down memory lane and find out (or remember, if you've played WoW for that long!) what happened in the past.
Every week, we look down at important events that happened in WoW for that week!

August 30th, 2016 - Legion Launch
Legion is officially launched
! The assault on the Broken Isles begins, as players claim powerful weapons that will aid them on our ongoing journey against the Burning Legion, unearth their Order Halls and the mysteries of the shore.
The Legion launch also released Demon Hunters as a class available for everyone (they were initially available only to those that preordered Legion), and the first implementation of dynamic scaling zones; the zones in the Broken Isles (with the exception of Suramar and now Broken Shore) scale to your level. Whether this will become available for other places around Azeroth is yet to be known.
The expansion itself launched with 10 dungeons and plenty of end-game content such as World Quests, although things like Mythic Keystone Dungeons and the first raid, Emerald Nightmare, would be released at a later date.
Check here our Legion launch survival guide!
Legion is also
on sale through September 5th
if you're interested in purchasing it.

Patch 6.2.2 is officially released! This is the first minor patch after the release of 6.2, The Fury of Hellfire patch, which officially brought us Hellfire Citadel. This patch included features such as:
Flying on Draenor
: People who obtained the
Abrecaminos de Draenor
achievement could finally fly in Draenor!
PvP Mercenary Mode
: Players are finally able to act as a Mercenary, queueing for Battlegrounds or Ashran for the opposite faction. This option would be available whether your faction was experiencing long queue times, and a mercenary agent would appear in either Stormshield or Warspear. While competing as a mercenary, your race would temporarily change into an appropriate race of the other factions, and you can still earn all the same rewards for winning or losing a battleground or Ashran.
Timewalking Rewards
:
Distintivo del tiempo
s were added as a currency, along with the Timewalking vendors, that offer collectibles and Timewarped gear for said badges.
New Collectible achievements
: For the collectors out there, the achievements
Señor de las riendas
(for 300 mounts) and
Comandante triturador
(for 200 toys) were added.

Ahn'kahet: El Antiguo Reino
,
Gundrak
,
Cámaras de Relámpagos
,
El Nexo
and
Pináculo de Utgarde
, with

being added at a later date.

Patch 5.0.4 is officially released! This is the Mists of Pandaria pre-expansion patch, marking the official end of the Cataclysm expansion.
Main features of this patch would include:
Acount-wide achievements, pets and mounts
: Before 5.0.4, mounts, pets and achievements were character exclusive, but this patch added most of those being shared with your entire account!
Theramore's Fall
: A new scenario, detailing the events that concluded with Theramore's destruction by the hands of then-Warchief Garrosh Hellscream. The Horde version of this scenario dealt with the planning of the assault on Theramore, while the Alliance dealt with the aftermath in the now Ruins of Theramore. Exclusive rewards included
Minibomba de maná
for the Horde and
Tabardo de Theramore
for the Alliance.
The version of Theramore outside the scenario is also destroyed, but you can visit the past and check it's pre-destruction version by talking to
Zidormi
at the outskirts of the ruins. If you've completed the Theramore's Fall scenario while it was available, you can buy the exclusive rewards from her as well.
AoE looting
: Before 5.0.4, you had to individually loot corpses (unless you were an Engineer with a
Despojador a distancia
). Now, everyone can loot mobs in a wide area!
Cross-Realm Zones
: The first implementation of cross-realm zones, first being tested on a select number of realms, then expanded to reach everyone.
New talent systems
: The old, 31-point talent trees were completely scrapped and replaced by the 3 choices every 15 levels that we all use to this day.

Zul'Gurub is being removed in Cataclysm
. Valnoth had reported on this day that the original
Zul'Gurub
would be removed once Cataclysm was released, giving players a (back then) last chance at obtaining it's exclusive mounts,
Tigre Zulian presto
and
Raptor Razzashi presto
. This was not the last time Zul'Gurub would be available for players, though: later during Cataclysm, it was reworked along with
Zul'Aman
to become a 5-man dungeon!
Although the original ZG mounts initially became unobtainable with the raid's removal and subsequent rework as a dungeon, those are still available if you have enough gold, as they've since been added to the list of ultra rare items that can show up on the Black Market Auction House!
Check up when we reported this!

Burning Crusade Talent Trees preview
: With the Burning Crusade expansion closing it's release, Blizzard on this day released their first talent and spell previews! First information regarding new spells for Mages, Paladins, Rogues, Shaman, Warlocks and Warriors were brought to the world.
Druids, Hunters and Priests had to wait a bit longer to learn of what Burning Crusade had in store for them.
These talent trees were the more complicated, 41-point talent trees that existed ingame and evolved with each passing expansion till Mists of Pandaria, where the talent system was revamped to the 3 choices per level style we know today. The Artifact talent trees, that came with Legion, were based off the old talent system.
If you feel like looking at your class past, check the archive link here!
Those included functioning talent tree links for those who miss the past.

World of Warcraft reaches 1 million subscribers in North America!
WoW has been breaking records worldwide ever since it's release in November of 2004, but on this day, it solidied it's position as the #1 MMORPG in the world by releasing a press release, stating that WoW has earned over 1 million paying subscribers in the US Region! This was after patch 1.6, Assault on Blackwing Lair.
According to said press release, if you combine all the regions that had the game since then, which already included Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Korea and China, the game already had over
FOUR MILLION
subscribers. That is crazy for a game that was not even a year old back then!
You can read the entire press release archive here.
So, how long have you guys been playing WoW? Were you there for any of the older events? Any memories you would like to share, or any events we might have forgotten? Let us know in the comments :)
Enjoy 7.3!
