The Game Theorists, a
popular YouTube channel
has released a video about the Science of World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth. This video dissects the physics of the game to determine how badly Azeroth would have been impacted by Sargeras' sword being plunged into Silithus.
In this World of Warcraft themed episode, Austin goes through how much damage Sargeras' sword would actually do to Azeroth and the current state of the planet, using science. He uses the
Antorus cinematic
, player model height, in-game data and a whole lot of math to come to a conclusion at the end of the video. If you don't care for the math, his conclusion is interesting and you should check it out!
The SCIENCE of World of Warcraft is part of the Game Theorists the SCIENCE series:
The SCIENCE!
A show where Austin picks apart video games with science and logic and hopefully makes you smarter in the process.
Interesting Topics
One of his interesting findings is that Sargeras' sword is almost 4 kilometers long, with the blade piercing almost 1.5 kilometers deep into Azeroth! He goes through many other details in order to a conclusion including:
What is the max fall speed in World of Warcraft?
What is the force of gravity on Azeroth?
How fast was Sargeras moving his sword when stabbing the planet?
What are the dimensions of Sargeras' sword?
How big is Azeroth?
What is the mass of Azeroth?
How dense is Azeroth?
How much mass did the Sargeras' sword displace?
How much force was imparted on the planet by the sword?
