Holy Paladin has had a pretty interesting time throughout the 11.0 Beta, often times dominating while playing their new Herald of the Sun Hero Talent tree. The spec also saw quite a few important changes to how the spec does healing, most notably with the removal of
Lichtschimmer and
Tagesanbruch. They effectively took the healing that
Lichtschimmer and
Tagesanbruch did and baked it back into some of Holy Paladin's core spells such as
Heiliger Schock,
Wort der Herrlichkeit, and
Licht der Morgendämmerung. This gives Holy Paladin some of that punch that its spot healing spells felt like it was missing throughout Dragonflight.
In addition to those changes, some of Holy Paladin's button bloat has been resolved by changing how
Licht des Märtyrers and
Göttliche Gunst work, and by the removal of
Hammer des Lichts. Holy Paladin had become a pretty bloated spec in Dragonflight, and these changes sought to remove some of that and put that healing back into some of its core spells instead, giving Holy Paladin a bit of that "spot healer" identity back. And while every spec of paladin can bring
Aura der Hingabe to the group, Holy Paladin can empower it with
Aurenmeisterschaft to give your raid a very valuable 12% raid wide damage reduction.
*Update: Holy Paladin should have probably been a tier higher to start, but is getting a 6% nerf heading into Mythic week. Like Holy Priest, Holy Paladin has a few pretty big bugs at the moment that makes the spec look a little bit better than it actually is. Currently,
Morgenlicht does not get reduced past 5 targets. This isn't as significant as the bug with Holy Priest, but it is still impacting their performance in a 30-man environment (especially on more stacked encounters). Second, there's actually a bug with
Licht des Märtyrers specifically when looking at Warcraftlogs and/or Details. The absorbed healing should be subtracted from the overall healing, but this currently isn't being done, making
Heiliger Schock look a little stronger than it actually is.
