I was on my final match (Red) when I thought "Oh hey, I'll just put this campfire here by the altar and have a temporary reference point for 2 minutes." Doesn't work that way, lol. For the next 2 minutes, EVERY room had a campfire in the same place. Same thing w/ my crate of Adopted puppies!
TL;DR
Don't place a object unless you want to see that object in every room for the duration of it's existence.

I'm trying to find out if your progress is saved if you leave the maze or exit the game. Thanks.
**Edit: Well....I just discovered even if you log off your progress is not saved. I just logged off for ~~the 5th time and the previous colors I had done are now reset--but i was still carrying the orb I had when I logged out. However, my personal map is still the same because the colored circles on the tables and the orbs are in the exact same places. (I had been drawing a map, so I'm 100% positive about this.)
I was logged of this last time for over a minute so maybe my progress timed-out.

I was missing the red orb only and when I found it I started my way back to the rune. But I saw a yellow rune that wasn't there before in one of the rooms. I just ignored it and went to the red one, I placed the orb and moved to a next room to end the scenario, that ended as expected. So I don't understand the reason why there was that yellow rune...

Seriously, break out a notepad and start noting down blocked/passable exits as you move your way through the rooms. DON'T start turning in orbs until you're confident you know your way around, because once a rune has been activated, it will disappear. I spent an hour on 4/5, because I got lost re-tracing my steps to the room with the last orb.
Here's what my notepad looked like at the end:

- I found it easier to start a new section once I found a new orb/rune, and then noting down a handful of rooms until I came across a previous orb/rune, where I could then attach the sections together.
Edit: Or even better, break out a spreadsheet and fill in the cells as you move along.

After

attempts to make a working map, I gave up and just started writing down which direction I took (n, e, s, w). Finished in about 20 minutes. If you're having issues even with using a notepad map, might want to try this.

Congrats Blizz. Rooms without visual clues and physics that do not make sense to connect them.
Tried mapping out my path on three different attempts and every time I ran into issues of room overlapping.

, the first time I wasn't paying enough attention. Not the second and certainly not the third.
It doesn't add up.
Is it the map making AI/algorithm so that each and every player's is different that's bugged or was it intended to be that frustrating ?
Either way Congrats to those that have the mount already. I do not want it bad enough to keep on wasting time in this grindy place.
....And I thought getting the pattern for the Shadoweave mask in Searing Gorge was a grind ! Ha ! How naive I was.

If you need to log out - you can do so - but REMAIN in the Endless Halls instance. It will stay the same map. Your progress (turning in orbs) will likely be reset, but if you kept a good map, it should be quick to catch back up.
Also - some doors are teleports - not regular doors - however they will always take you to the same place, so they should be mappable as well.

Just finished this scenario. Took me like 4 hours to realize how this labyrinth works and how to beat it:
it's no logical dungeon, it's endless due to due teleporters at the (invisible) boarders bringing you back to the "action"
each teleporter will always bring you to the same location
due to the teleporters you might end up drawing unlogical maps (one place reachable from one hallway, but not from another)
I assume you get a hint when you got teleported, because my camera sometimes changed by 180degrees
So here is how I solved it:
don't place an orb until you have found all altars and orbs. You need them as orientation markers
walk around randomly until you find an altar/orb
start drawing a map from here
if you have encounter the same altar/orb again, you have been teleported, try to compress the map by drawing a new one including only the logical paths

I got four of the five orbs matched to the appropriate rune.
While roaming the hallways for the fifth orb, I got lodged between an urn and an altar when I took a corner too quickly.
None of my toys or potions could unstick me. Filing a "stuck" with Blizzard uses your hearthstone.
Anyone want to guess what happened to my progress?

I've tried drawing maps. Not only does it get tedious, but the layout changed while I was in here, I'm sure of it. And I don't have space for everything, and sometimes you get teleported (but sometimes not, and this was seemingly the same door), but you don't know you've been teleported unless you have rubble behind you.

Pretty good ideas:
-If using pencil and paper, try and use graphing paper if you have it available
-Map out each room and make sure to show both open and blocked paths - I did each room like this where (x) is a blocked path, so in this example, could go north or east:

-When you find a rune or orb, mark it on your map
-When you find matching sets, don't turn them in until you've found all five sets, runes/orbs disappear after use and it's good to have them around as long as you can for landmarks
-When you reach the edge of the map, it will loop (think going off to the right or left in Pac-Man)
-Be patient, this will drive your f'n crazy if you let it

takes ZERO SKILL all dumb luck and RNG nothing to figure out no puzzle to solve upon entering a random timer should start that traps you in here. Who ever thought this up and whoever ok'd it to be in game should be locked in a small room together with no food or water!

I just found all orbs and runes and left them up as reference points. As I found the last rune I logged to go to work. Just to check it'd all stay, I logged back in. I was not in the same room and my Lucid Nightmare Helper addon map reset.
Looks like it has to be done in one go.

I hope that this will help somebody.
After spending almost 2 hours in this maze, I finally began to realize how it was working.
First, like others have said, download the Lucid Nightmare Helper Addon.
When you come across a room that has multiple exits, one of those exits are guaranteed to teleport you.
It can even be the "exit" you just came through.
I was in an endless loop before I realized what was happening.
I found that the best way to avoid being teleported to the same area over and over again is by always changing your direction whenever you come across a multiple exit room.
I.E.-If you've been coming from the South and exiting North and the new exits are North or East: Take East.
Keep track of the multiple exit rooms. (I used the Yellow color from the addon since I had already found Yellow).
Also, as someone else has mentioned, do NOT cross your paths. This, as far as I could tell, either teleports you to an unmapped area or resets the map altogether. I couldn't ever tell.
Keep your paths straight and long so that there is never a time where you overlap your path.
It's ok to go back to the room you just came from. No harm in retracing your steps.
Now, when you get down to your last color and you finally find the orb and you are retracing your steps... it's a possibility that one of the teleport rooms (the multiple exit rooms) will teleport you to an area you've been to before but not where you meant to go.
It really helps to have the addon to mark these teleport rooms to see if there is a pattern happening as you retrace your steps.
If you find a pattern, you can CTRL+Click on the square in the addon to "move" your character to the location that you "know" you are at.

actually..to hell with the note pad and the mapping...i found the addon to b very helpful...got thru the maze using this add on in about 30 min..used it to map the locations of the first 4 orbs and rune sites..once i found those 4 i went and matched them all up..all i had left was green orb to match with green rune..was a simple matter of time and exploration...dont waste your time mapping it all out on paper...the addon does that 4 u..honestly..all these ppl with their intricate maps that helped no one but themselves...and the reality is they only slowed themselves down. this addon also helps prevent teleport rooms..if the addon gives u the option of linking a room or skipping over...its a teleport room...link it and retrace your steps back to the previous room or rooms and pick another direction...

What you need to understand about the Endless Halls is that it doesn't use the standard maze logic of "trace a path through a grid".
Rather, because it simply resets the room every time, it uses database logic: Each room is stored as individual rows of information in a table unique to each player (so the odds of two players having the same maze are ridiculously low), with each cardinal direction bearing a pointer to another row (room) in the table if the way isn't blocked. It's sort of like a Choose Your Own Adventure book: If you go north, go to page A2; if you go south, go to page X4, etc.
Why this matters, is because taking four right turns will
not
necessarily put you back where you started, but instead will put you in a room to the right of the fourth room you circled through
according to the database
, not according to the linear boundaries of Euclidean space. The genius of this is that it gives the illusion the maze goes on... endlessly.
But
, the pointers from one room to the next
do
match up, so retracing your steps will still put you back the way you came - no weird "one way doors" or "portals", going east and then west again
will
put you back where you started.
The best way to get around this is to draw a map for yourself, bearing in mind that not only does this building functionally have multiple floors and no indicated stairways (so be prepared with some multi-colored pens when you cross your own path, because the room will probably not be the same), but that some rooms can circle back around unexpectedly to rooms on the opposite end of the maze.
It makes the map look a little hectic
(this is just the example of my own, yours will probably be different). This is also why the Lucid Nightmare Helper addon
doesn't work
.
The trick is to remember that there is only
one
of each colored orb and rune, and to use each of these as landmarks to figure out where the map circles around. Once you have it, you can actually start to make alternate paths and shortcuts between any two rooms.
Each time you match an orb and a rune, they will vanish, and you lose a landmark. For your own sanity, flush out your map
first
until you've found all 10 landmarks, and then
write out
a path for yourself from one orb to its rune to the next orb. Otherwise you'll quickly get lost between same-y looking rooms.
Just be patient with it, because the mapping can take a couple hours. Run as far as you can in straight lines, mark every possible direction for each room you pass through, and try to look for patterns; if a sequence of rooms repeats on the map, it's probably the same same hallway. Double- and triple-check your markings, because if you get turned around or forget to mark a room, you may make your map useless.
Oh, and don't use your mouse to go forward fresh out of the gate. The camera will sometimes swing around when you enter a room, so running with your mouse will sometimes cause you to turn around without meaning to before one room's loaded.
At one point I hearthed out, logged out, took a crack at it the next day and I had exactly the same maze (just with all the orbs and runes reset), so don't worry about your map being any less accurate later on.
Once you've completed all 5 pairs, doesn't matter what direction you pick, the next room you walk into will send you to your last note. You can choose to hearth out, or you can explore around; there are stairs around the back that will deposit you out a drain pipe in the Valley of the Four Winds.

I just completed this after matching up only 4 of the colors!
I ran around for about 2 hours looking for the last color, then decided to just match up the 4 I had found and the next door I took ported me to the scroll room... FFS!

My method for getting through worked - for a while.
What I did was constantly check for warps. I'd enter a new room and then immediately go back to the previous one. If it was the same I kept going, repeating the same step with any direction. I made a note of when warps occurred, switching to a new sheet of paper and starting from the room I ended up in. Then I walked until I either warped again, found a familiar landmark, or found a new landmark.
Using this method, I was able to locate all five orbs and fives runes, and backtrack to each of them from almost any point. Since a warp will always return you to the same spot assigned to it, I was even able to use the warps as shortcuts. It took me just over an hour to reach this point and I was optimistic. I should not have been.
The problem started once I started
matching
them. The first three were completely flawless. The last two were not, and I suspect that this is a deliberate design choice.
I warped unexpectedly, through a room I'd charted as 'safe' previously. After a little exploring on a fresh map, I found the blue rune room. The room had changed shape from having a north-west exit to a north-south exit. At that point, I had to consider my old map useless, and began charting a new one.
It took me three hours to find the blue orb. I was warping at random, trapped in loops, you name it. Even when runes respawned I'd get warped before reaching them. It was hell.
Then the maze changed again, changing to a warp path I eventually recognized from the first map. It took me less than ten minutes to retrace my steps from the respawned red rune to the yellow orb, then to the yellow rune to finish the maze completely.
Elapsed total time was 4 and a half hours.
TIPS:
Orbs do not respawn, unless you end up somehow resetting the entire maze. This only occurs if you've logged off for a long time. A short DC shouldn't reset your orb progress, but waiting until the next day to log back on again will.
Runes respawn after a long while, use them as landmarks.
Don't drop toys, they follow you.
I found the Lucid Nightmare add-on unhelpful and kept track manually on a growing stack of paper, but I did this very early on so it's possible an updated version of the add-on is out now. Give it a try, see if it works for you.
Try to go for long stretches in one direction - it's easier to mentally keep track of 'go right until you hit a wall' than 'go right then up then right and then left etc'.
Don't give up.

I've been in the Endless Halls for 3 days... after finally figuring out what this even is and how it worked (ish) I was getting a hold of things. After using a decent guide, map and addon, after all of the long boring hours. I found my last rune.... the blue rune. But fate hates me and it didn't count for some reason and I didn't find the note. My order was red, green, purple, yellow and then blue. I submitted a ticket and while their response was informative they told me there was no way for them to give me credit.
So here I am again....... just me, my occasional mirror image (so I don't go insane) and water elemental. pls send halp :c

The whole place is exactly 8x8 tiles in size. The possible tiles are 4 corners, 4 T-junctions, dead-ends, straight lines, and X-crossing where you as a player only experience a straight line, but once you map them, you'll discover two straight lines crossing each other on that tile.
Now, the map wraps around, with offset of 4 rows/columns. How do you know you just wrapped? Well, you don't. But if you go left 8 tiles, you'll be on same column as you started from, but 4 rows above/below. And same in verticals.
To make things interesting, one of the 64 tiles is a random teleport room. When you enter the room, you immediately appear in any random room anywhere. This makes your mapping effort bit of a challenge. Try to figure out which room is the teleporter, then avoid it at all costs. Once you find it, keeping in mind the wrap-around of the map and offsets of 4, avoiding it is fairly easy. And once you can avoid the room, mapping rest of the place is fairly trivial.
The illustration below should explain the wrapping. Exit map at spot 4, you appear on other side at 4. Exit at D, re-appear at opposite D.

DON'T MATCH ANYTHING UNTIL YOU HAVE FOUND ALL 10 ITEMS! THEY SERVE AS MARKERS SO YOU KNOW WHEN YOUR STUCK IN A LOOP!
Don't freak out if you keep finding the same items just mark every one! I had found some items 5 different places and used the paper map to see where the nearest know item was to confirm a good route.

How the add-on works. (pic 1) It will draw a box on the screen as you move between rooms. On the left side has 10 colored icons. When you enter a room that has fire use the top color coded icon to mark the room same deal for the runes except use the bottom rune icon. Then continue searching until you find ALL 10 items.
First attempt I tried for 3 hours and looted the first fire I found (never saw another fire) I also used the add-on and cross paths all the time and was going no where in that time I found 1 fire and 3 runes. Researched tips that others had and one guy recommended always turning the same direction when cant continue straight. That was the best advise I found!
IMO what worked best for me is to combine everybody's tips. Here is a summary of what..
1) enter Endless Halls type
/LN
to enable the helper
2) Start walking and mark the rooms as you find them with the proper icon. Continue searching until everything is marked. I found the orbs SEVERAL times and marked every single one and discovered a loops. Don't cross your path when ever possible. Only walk straight and turned same direction. If you get ported (entrance you just went through is now blocked) stop and draw on the grid only the items you have located also mark the room with the port so you will avoid that room again. As a check when I found a pattern I back traced from a known point to point. This was the only data that I bothered to write down.
3) Clear map at known point (see pic 2 )and start the process mapping grid to the helper. So my 3rd and final attempt to find the last item I explored along the known path walking about 6 rooms each way and the final green fire was just blocks away. Took me about 2 hours this way in the end I found 2 different loops and 1 doorway that was one way. By mapping the common paths on the loops I was able to combine 2 maps into a single complete map!

NEVER EVER go back the way you come in in the room. You will reset map and that will be mess up! Just go next open way and map it all.

Took me 1 hour 40 min. total.
Just get out graph paper and pen, if doing it by hand.
I didn't wait till I found all the orbs and runes. I just matched pairs whenever I found 2 of the same color. As soon as I found an orb I backtracked to the matching color rune if I had seen it.
Mark all rubes/orbs on your graph for a reference point and go with that. I found green rune first and then matched it with green orb (after finding a bunch of other runes).
Backtracking DID lead me to BACK to previously seen RUNES AND ORBS. My Purple Rune and Yellow Orb were rooms that were next to each other and I used that as a sort of base/starting point. Everything else was relative to their locations.
I got lost toward the end and my graph seemed to be off but it wasn't a problem. Why? Because after a few rooms the final rune appeared anyway. Luck? Teleportation theory? Dunno.
When starting off, just pick whichever direction you feel like going - I went with north and west until I reached dead ends. Then headed east or south until a rune popped.

Okay, so I see all these people going crazy about this. I got this done in 50 minutes. What you do is run around until you find a rune or an orb. If you keep track of where you go from there you can know where things are. Use north, south, east, and west so it is less confusing when you need to retrace your steps.(ex: n n n w w w s s s s w n e s w) turns into when you go back (s s s e e e n n n n e s w n e) If you found an orb get it a carry it but keep track of where you got it from. you may come across another color orb or rune then you may find the same color elsewhere.
red: done
yellow rune: n n n e e s w e e e e n n e s s s w w w w found blue orbs
blue orbs: s w w w n e s s s s s w w w w n n e s w n n n n n w w w w s s e e e found yellow orbs
From there pick up the yellow orb and retrace your steps back to the yellow rune. Once done go back to the blue orbs and grab it. If you keep track like this it should be somewhat easier than trying to make a map or something like that.

As it has already been said, you should see this maze as a planisphere, with a system of floors, meaning that when you reach the last floor and take the final stairs, you come back to the first floor ! What's even more difficult is that sometimes, when you take the stairs from, let's say, the "second" floor, you reach the "fifth" floor, instead of the "third" floor, meaning every floor seems connected ! And there is no end in this maze, meaning that you could turn around forever, hence its name (though I was able to find a cul-de-sac / dead end).
Also, as it was said before, you should really first locate all the orbs and runes to establish a plan of the maze before trying to solve it. This really helps a lot. As I am a bit crazy, I mapped the whole maze (at least my version of it, as it seems the maze is a different version for everyone or changes when you log off for too long). I was able to find that the maze is composed of exactly 75 different rooms. I think the number remains the same for everyone. I did this with Excel, and you can have a look at it here :

Also don't forget to use North, South, East and West to help yourself see where you're heading.
I think it's cleaner to do it with something like Excel rather than with a piece of paper, you'll be able to change things more easily to map your own maze.

After 3 hours of this maddening nightmare I finally reached the golden room, and ran up the stairs so quickly I didn't even notice the scroll.. I was automatically teleported out, with no way to go back into the golden room. My soul was crushed.
I had to relog to enter the maze again, otherwise the urn teleported me into an empty dead-end dungeon with no exit.
The addon didn't help me at all, and drawing maps didn't work for me either. So I turned on a tv show and started to run.
The 2nd time it only took me about 40min to finish. It was some kind of visual/logical memory.
Something I noticed: 2 of the 5 colors had their runes/brazers very close to each other - not more than 5 rooms apart (red and yellow, in my case), 3rd color's (blue) rune was tucked away in a dead end room, and two remaining colors were spread apart. Also, if you log out and back in quickly, you will have to redo everything but the map remains the same.

P.S. - Seeing the Valley of the Four Winds and hearing it's soundtrack after this long torture was an amazing relief.

Okay so I royally screwed this up when going for the Lucid Nightmare mount. I ran through the Endless Halls with no rhyme or reason just bum rushing it and hoping for the best. I didn't time it but I know it took over two hours to complete. And when I was done? I left without ever collecting the clue. I've never been so frustrated at a game in my life and I grew up playing NES and SNES with games that weren't easy and didn't have guides like today.
Upon reset and after a few hours of preparing myself for this hassle again I returned to do it once more. Again, I was just going to throw on some music, bum rush it again and hopefully not lose my sanity. I decided to time this run cause I was curious. Now maybe it was just dumb luck or the gaming Gods and RNGesus shining down on me but three minutes in I had completed one rune, four minutes in another, seven minutes in another, and eleven minutes in one more. The last one took me about another fifteen plus minutes.... I finished it around twenty-eight minutes and some change total. Something that took two hours initially and seems to take at least an hour or two for others was done in 30 minutes.
Happily I know have my Lucid Nightmare and thankfully did not have to spend another two plus hours in the Endless Halls after my huge screw up the first time.

So after completing a run in somewhere between 4-5 hours, I believe I have some tips to add:
First and foremost, mapping this area is NOT a matter of finding the transporter room and the room you find yourself in after being transported. Although useful information, I found that looking for these areas were confusing and worthless. What mapping this area is is a matter of the process of elimination. You need to eliminate worthless paths and find the safe, consistent paths.
That being said, how do you do this? One, LEAVE THE ORBS AND RUNES UP. These are essential markers. I’m sure you can be lucky enough to find all 10 without using them as markers, but I bet most people would find that frustrating. Two, pencil and paper, breadcrumb everywhere you go, mapping every room as you see it. You’ll slowly recognize the consistent paths. Three, confirm each path via backtracking every so often to make sure they were not caused by teleportation. After doing so you can write a separate map with a confirmed set of safe paths that for sure go from a to b.
So how does teleportation work, you ask? I have no idea. I could not find a consistent pattern to figure out where the “teleportation room” was. What I do know is that if you left a room from the right, for example, and you find yourself coming into the new room from the back you’ve been teleported. After teleporting you always come in from the back. Also, if you’re mapping out a grid and it shows a way leading into a room you showed as blocked from that same side, then it’s probably a trap. Don’t fall for it.
The endgame is eventually this: you’ll have a map of most confirmed paths. Find every way you have not been and try every one of them until you find something. Check if doubling back works and then add these areas to your map. Once you find all ten markers, start from the runes branching the most outward then go for the innermost ones, as to avoid getting lost. Once done, leave your current room. Boom - there’s the final clue.
Other tips: Every room DOES have a front, back, right and left (ex: the side of the pedestal where the torches are can be “the front”), pay attention to which direction you came in from. I noticed that while there are paths that take you a little far, the actual map is smaller then it seems, and it is logical. You cannot cross your own path (without teleporting). If you get lost run around until you find a marker. If you find something you haven’t seen before, mark it and write the path until the next marker.

Can't figure out what happened exactly. Did 3/5 last night. Wandered for hours trying to find the green rune. Logged in today to see I was still in the damn maze holding the green torch. Finally found & completed all of them (I wrote them down in the order I completed) but no note in the next room. So did the whole thing get reset or? I'm really frustrated at this point. Guessing I'll have to redo the first ones I completed?

Just went #yolo in there. No mapping, just pure sense of orientation. Noticed that all the runes were grouped close, then found the orbs grouped far away from the runes but close to each other. Took me about an hour with NO mapping - so mapping woulnd't always improve your time or chances.

After testing several solutions (including excel), I was able to rapidly finish it through this tactic:
From your current position go (at least) 5 rooms left,
then switch to right and go at least 5 rooms,
repeat.
At least means that there are sometimes no choices after 5. Proceed until you have a choice.

If you have a background in graph theory it will help out a lot.
I treated the puzzle as a directed graph where each room is a vertex and each open door is an edge where the value of the edge is the outgoing and incoming direction (NS, EW, SN, WE). It then becomes just a matter of doing a graph traversal until you find all the orbs and runes. I tried a few methods until this clicked in my head and I was able to finish it faster than people claim to do with the "random" method.
It seems like the graph does allow for cycles, thus why people are commenting that they seem to be teleported to another spot in the "maze". I think what is really going on is that the maze truly is a graph, so it seems like you are being teleported but in reality you are just moving along an edge that links to a vertex you've been to before. It also explains comments about "falling off the maze" where it seems like you are being sent back to the other side of the maze.
If you treat it like a graph and not like a 2D maze, it makes a lot more sense in the mind.

I would rather play and beat Portal completely blindfolded than have to ever do this again.
I took everyone's advice; I even downloaded the Lucid Nightmare Helper addon to make an in-game map as I wondered helplessly around. I then found that the map only mattered for about 10 or so rooms because otherwise it got so tangled that it was hard to get back to where I wanted to anyway. So I started erasing the map and starting over whenever I found a rune and used it as a starting point. I kept the map going until I either found the same rune, or completed taking the orb to it. Then I'd erase and start over with another color. This took me two hours or so. I also found that there were occasions where despite me mapping everything out

sometimes I would go back and the room would be different because the addon/map didn't recognize I had gone through a teleport (and subsequently neither did I) unless I happened to cross over a room meaning that I usually couldn't use the map to get back to where I needed to be anyway.
My word of advice is to get the addon, but don't take the time to mark which hallways are closed because all you really need to keep up with is which way you went, where runes rooms are, and if there's another orb room in case you're already carrying one. Other than that, it's just random as hell so just wander as you please and wish for the best.

Heads up to anyone who ends up in this situation:
I made my map, found everything I needed, matched everything up but began panicking when I matched my last set and wasn't teleported out instantly. I didn't see anything about it here yet and it might have just been me. Don't panic. Just go into another room and it will port you.

Just to add- i did this without the add on and just wrote it down (I don't recommend doing it that way...) Also I made the mistake of turning in colors before I knew where all of the orbs/runes were. DONT. Find them all first, it'll be much easier. Then go back and turn them in. Also- when I turned in my last orb to the rune, the note didn't appear. I went through to the next room and it appeared there. So don't panic like I did if you don't see it when you finish, just go to another room and it'll pop up :)

I think the mapping is just waste of time, finished it just under an hour without mapping just running around. For me best tactics was Find rune>run until i found the corresponding colour>repeat.

I find the best option is to only make a map from either one seal to it's orbs or the other way around.
Wander until you find one, then make that the center of the map. Mark off what entrances are open, which are closed off, and which rooms have a seal or orbs in it, and try to find 2 rooms that correlate. Once you do this, match the 2, and start a new map. Rinse and repeat.
This is due to the fact that it seems once you finis 2 rooms, or sometimes even when you find a special room at all, the rooms change. It's going to get harder the longer you wander, so good luck. I just did it yesterday and it quite literally took me hours to accomplish. But, if you've come this far to get the mount, don't give up now.

I'm not very good at mapping nor orientation so I just ran randomly for 4 hours, it became so mechanic to the point that sometimes I wasn't even paying attention if there was an orb or rune in the room lol. So I matched whatever I found available, I mapped only a few rooms after I found a rune and I was able to finish the whole thing in 4 hours, I took me 1 hour to match 4 colors and 3 hours just for the last one. The last 3 hours run for he last orb was totally hopeless so it wasn't pretty, but I made it at the end.

I think I'm going to die here. lol Got the addon, started marking things. Started to go around collecting orbs to take back to runes, then it just pops me in a completely different room than what I had on my map. So say I went to go get the green orb I found to take to the green rune I found, I would walk back through the number of rooms between the two, and end up in a completely different room that I found the green orb is.

I read a lot of comments about this, and these are the tips that worked for me:
1. Do not match anything up until you've found them all, as these will serve as markers while you create your map.
2. Use the app.
3. Don't bother marking which exits are blocked.
4. Try not to overlap your path, but if you can't avoid it and it asks you to link a room, skip over it.
5. If you run into an orb or alter room you've already found, mark it anyway.
6. Even though my app map had ~300 rooms, the map is not that large. There is a wrap around when you go off "the edge" and you end up on the other side. Not sure how to track this, but I believe it's true. There is also the random teleportation room, which screws you up. I found the green orb room six times.
7. For me, everything was quite close together, with the orbs at one end of the path and the alters at the other end.
8. Once you've found rooms more than once, look at your map again and compare them to the other times you found it. You'll start to see the pattern, as the rooms do not change places and are in the same spots in relation to each other.
9. Use these other instances of the rooms to see which directions you've already gone from those rooms and try other ways. You want to work outwards from the rooms you've already found to create pathways between them and other rooms instead of finding them randomly.
10. Once I saw the pattern, I drew it out on paper, and then used the app to recreate it, as I found it easier to keep track of the directions I turned from each room and confirm that the path is good and safe as you find the rooms where you expect them to be.
11. Once you've found all the rooms, you can backtrack and match them up.
12. After matching them up, exit the last room in any direction to get to the room with the note. It definitely looks different from the rest of the maze, so you'll know it's the right one.

Sometimes the camera turns 180 degrees, then you are transported. Possibly there is a transport room 1 that transports you to transport room 2.

You may notice an empty square and think I just need to find my way there. I have found the way in, and it's an empty dead end not unlike my red orb room.
I am pretty sure than my missing blue orb is
inside
the teleport trap room. Which means my options are to keep entering the teleport trap and hoping I get that 1:64 chance of being teleported into the teleport trap room, and also that it's not coded to be impossible for that to happen. Or I can wait until my maze resets, but it is nice to know this can happen before it happens to you.

This maze is not nearly as complicated as it initially looks. If you follow what is below it shouldn't take you more than an hour or so to get it done.
Here's my TL:DR tips. More helpful stuff below:
The whole map is 8x8.
Every single Rune or Orb is within 8 spaces of another rune or orb. If you get farther than that, turn around and go back to the last rune or orb and pick a different route. This is probably the most important tip.
You don't have to create or make sense of the entire map to be succesful - just find all the objects and be able to get to each reliably.
When wierd things happen it's because you're near a map edge that rolls to the opposite side with an offset. See the picture below.
When hallways intersect one can travel OVER the other. That's why rooms may look different when approaching from one direction or another. These intersections can not have orbs or runes in them. See the picture below.
Do not pick up or resolve ANYTHING until you have found and mapped EVERYTHING. These things are the only anchors you have and you won't solve it without leaving them in place.
Once you have found everything and can get to all of it reliably, start by resolving the pair that are the farthest apart so if you get lost you will still have the most possible anchors to find yourself again.
If you hearthstone and re-enter, you will reset and get a whole new map. If you log out, it will save the map. After a period of time it will reset the orbs/runes, but The maps should stay the same as long as you don't willingly leave it. It even survives maintenance.
I only found the lucid nightmare addon mildly useful for counting rooms as I travelled. It IS useful for that, but it isn't going to help you make a useable map.

Just get the hang of how he maps it, but also appreciate how he reconciles the location of the green orbs. He is not totally accurate in the map size and the 'teleports' but it is still extremely helpful.

I think in the video his 'teleport loop' is actually a result of these two orbs being located very close to one of the edges AND the center of the map so he's going back and forth across the edge with the offsets to create the appearance of a loop (see the picture below). When stuff like this happens just roll with it - don't feel the need to fully explain how it's happening - what he did was totally fine. All you need to be able to do is get TO each orb or rune from one of the others. As you get close to completing the map or finding everything it will start to become obvious where the map edges probably are, but I didn't ever try to actually get into this format.

I spent the better part of 7 hours wandering around and mapping out a huge, sprawling dungeon until I found these three resources. From there I reset and was done in about an hour (coming up about 5 minutes short of completing it before the server went down for maintenance .. which is why I know the map survives it).

I did it in 1 hour, could have been just luck but I also really tried to make sense out of it.
I read a good bunch of comments and tips about it here and in battlenet forums, watched part of a youtube video etc.
So here my tips:
- It is true that it seems that rooms with either runes or orbs are close to each other. So a good strategy seems to be to FIND ONE ROOM with either rune or orb and start to map from there, you should be able to find other rooms with content not far from that one in different directions. You should mark well all rooms with content and also which exit options they have.
- Pay special attention to rooms with multiple exit options, it seems to be true that they could potentially be teleport traps, but not in all cases, I found both situations where it was a trap and where it was not, just mark them and pay special attention to those.
- A lot of people say don't match anything until you find everything - I was scared I would be teleported and get lost, so as soon as I found an orb and I knew how to get back to the same color rune room, I carried it and matched it. I didn't remove the references in my map.
- I used the addon helper and everytime I was crossing a room that didn't make sense in my map, I said JUMP, I never reset the map. If I unexpectedly found myself in for example the green rune room and it was already marked in a different part of my map, I would just mark it again and keep all the references.
- FINALLY everytime I had to make a choice between different exit options, I was taking a good look at the map and trying to imagine it as a 3D map, rather than the 2D map you see in the helper addon. Some comments said the size of the maze is 8x8 so in total 64 rooms, imagine it as a Rubik's cube, with connected ends like someone already said how Pacman works: you take a left exit at the end of the screen and you appear on the right, with the difference that this cube seems to have crossed-connected ends, meaning you take a left exit in the upper side and you appear on the right end, bottom side (this is also in one of the maps someone shared here).
I wanted to share my tips because I tried for the fist time yesterday for 2 hours before going to bed and it was a terrible idea because I dreamt about it all night (I get now where the name of the mount comes from, BE CAREFUL not to lose your sanity!)
I suggest to do this when you are rested and have a clear mind, put a timer to take breaks every half hour or so, turn off the wow sound because that ambient suspense sound will drive you crazy, and play instead some feel good music that you can sing to :)

Much like everyone else, I blew through the rest of the requirements, with the lion's share of time just being the time it took to travel to the different locations.
I tried reading all of the comments here, and watching videos, but I realized something...
Our brains all work differently, and try as I might, I had so much trouble wrapping my brain around the particulars that this maze has to offer. Whether I be too left minded or what, not much helped me. Even tried getting the addon specific to this maze, and it did nothing but confuse me more.
I would recommend the following:
- graph paper
- pencil (with an eraser)
- several color of pens/colored pencils (blue, green, red, yellow, purple, guess what for?)
- a speed gear set (gear with tertiary "speed", and azerite BFA gear with the "longstrider" trait)
I started off trying to map meticulously, but I just about immediately gave up on that. I simply couldn't figure out just how the whole "room crossing" thing worked (please don't explain it to me, I wasted enough time in here trying to read the explanations LOL). After a bit I decided my best bet was just to run until I found either a rune or an orb.
Once I did, I started mapping from the rune room I found in order to have a point of reference to go back to. I drew my runes as little colored squares, and the orbs as little colored circles. I ignored the "crossing" rooms, because I wasn't fully sure if they actually skipped a room or if it was like a ghost room on top of another room (again, please, don't ruin my brain by trying to explain it, arggg). I put little ticks on the lines where exits ran to another room, and if I went into another room by a different path, and it didn't have an exit north (but the room north had an exit south, "crossing" room) I'd put a different tick on that side so there wouldn't be confusing.
DO NOT discount using the mini-map. Again, maybe due to how my brain works, I wasn't paying attention to directions, more trying to look at the exits on the map I was drawing, but I realized once I had "North" figured out, and watched the mini map, it was way faster and more accurate to keep track using the mini map in coordination with my drawn map. I know, I should have been doing that right away, but again, had to do things the hard way first haha.
It wasn't too long before I had about half of the 10 total items mapped out. I found the trap room, and avoided it, then I got to 9 items. If I ran into an item in a room I had previously mapped but in a different location (teleporting after leaving the edge of the map, or a "crossing" path) I simply added it to the map as a reference, in case the new path would be shorter "orb to rune" than my previous mapped path.
Crazy enough, that last orb took nearly 45 minutes to find. (For me it was the blue orb). Once I had them all found and mapped out, I wrote down the path meticulously from each orb to each rune, then from that rune to the next orb, repeat, because I would be removing all of my reference points (orbs/runes) and didn't want to chance screwing up and getting lost with 1 or 2 runes left to click on. I started off with my longest path first, because that would leave my other runes/orbs along the way to refer to if I somehow screwed it up. I then did the fastest 3, and saved the second longest for last, and was just REALLY careful not to mess up my path.
My written pathing looked like this:
Yellow orb to Yellow rune: 1N, 5W, 3N, 1E, 1N, 2E, 2N, 4W, 1N (move 1 room north, move 5 rooms west, etc)
Yellow rune to Green orb: 1S, 4E
Green orb to Green rune: 2S, 2W, 1S, 1W, 2S (etc)
Had 9 total paths to get everything completed. I did a dry run before I started the real thing, just to make sure I didn't have anything written down wrong.
I know some comments talk about how people "just immediately ran orbs as soon as I found the runes", I don't know how that is possible, I started out that way and realized within 20 minutes I was going to need to reset (which I did, hearthed out, "reset all instances" in the interface, then flew back and restarted). Without those orbs/runs as references, I don't get how people were able to finish. But, again, people's brains work differently and maybe they could see something that I couldn't.
Really cool mount though, and even as hard as this maze was, it was a fun challenge! Thank you Blizz!

Went in, thought "no big deal, I've done labyrinths before".
Spent an hour marking up where I went on paper, without finding any colours whatsoever.
Found an orb! Got teleported somewhere else.
Got a match! Now, where the hell am I?
4/5 matches with 5th orb on me, after almost 3h of diagram on diagram on diagram I try to brute-force it by following a strict movement pattern. Network company decides to go down for an hour, lose all progress.
Come home from pub, try again. Get lucky with almost every room lacking choice. Total of 5h in this place I finally make it.
10/10, would solve again

Is there any way to check your progress? Most of these progress things have macros to check how many of something you have credit for... I SWEAR I've done all 5 colors and I can't find any more orbs so I'm just wandering around finding the same respawned runes over and over again. If there is another match remaining, WTF is the damn orb?

The Lucid Nightmare Helper add-in (as of 4/4/2020) is incorrect, as it bridges cross rooms in the wrong locations.
(The add-in pushes the cross path one tile too far, so ended up being more confusing than just mapping in excel.)
It should be a concise 8x8 room grid.

I have submitted a screenshot of the map I made using

as this worked far better for me than the addon (which doesn't, as far as I could work out, allow for the mapping of blocked corridors). It took me about 3 hours to do, but through a lot of repetition I was finally able to map a route which avoided the trap rooms. The key for me was to have two or three maps on the go concurrently, two as WiP as I went, and a master map which I used once I had tried and tested the route to destruction (not to mention the loss of my sanity, Horrific Visions have nothing on this) to mark the final positions. I have never alt+tabbed so much in my life.
The sense of satisfaction upon finishing this, not to mention finally collecting the mount, was one of the best I have encountered in-game so far.

After losing my sanity with addons and stuff, I figured out that the only thing that you need is
MS Paint
.
DO NOT CLICK ORBS AND @#$% UNTIL YOU'RE DONE WITH STEP 5
Just open Paint, draw
5 coloured circles and 5 coloured X
scattered around the window.
Once in the maze, take a random path until you reach a
special room
(i.e. with an orb, or a rune).
Start
tracking your path
with cardinal points until you reach another special room (you'll get something like WNNE).
Once done this,
repeat
the route backwards
and
verify
that you will arrive where you started.
If that's the case,
draw an arrow
on Paint between the two special rooms and put a
label
over it
with the string
of cardinal points.
Otherwise,
forget about that
path and look for another one.
Repeat step 4. until you get a
connected graph
(whatever point you choose to start with, you are able to reach whatever other point).
Choose a
X to start with
, and write a
little 1 over it
on Paint. Take the orb in that room, and bring it to the corresponding rune by following the directions on the labels. (Of course, if the arrow points towards the opposite direction you want to travel to, you have to reverse the path as well, so -----WEN-----> corresponds to <-----SWE-----).
Remember that every time that you "complete" a color by bringing the orb to its rune, those elements will disappear so you won't be able to use them to distinguish rooms. Be careful to
always keep the correspondance
between the room in which you are in game, and the one represented in Paint.
From time to time add some small numbers on the room on paint when you reach them, in order to keep track of where you are.
Repeat step 6. until you're done.

Uff, I don't see labyrinth never .
My spending time about 4-5 hours for this .
! I start at Monday's Night, I can't find last orb .
I go Logout (cca 12h) and continue Tomorrow, ... and my progress (4/5) was OUT !
In Tuesday, I have very Lucky and after cca 2,5h .. finish all 5 orbs again .
I use addon, but, ... sometimes way to back was closed .
I reset addon after cca 40 rooms, and start again .
Its RNG, but ... When I reset addon I found in max next 2-3 rooms next portal or orbs ...maybe chance ?
Other Q was ok, and tips for 5 brain Crash Saga is :
! If you don't see the Brains icon, when you start the game next to each other, cancel it and start again. !
I repeated it like this about 10 times and then moved only one brain and Q was done.

I discovered something about the programming of this maze that can make it easier:
Logging out and immediately logging back in will reset you to the same "start" room. You can use this start room as a reference point to find orb/glyph rooms, and then keep resetting yourself there as a reliable anchor point.
For instance: let's say that East North North East East = Red Glyph Room. Log out and back in and then go east, north, north, east, east and you will arrive at the red glyph room again. You can map out a path to get to each of the 10 orb/glyph rooms.
Caveat: If you log out/in and a known path doesn't take you to the same room it means that path went through the random teleporter room. You'll have to mark that path as "bad" and find an alternate route.

As others have stated, the maze is on an 8x8 grid that loops around offset by 4. (Think of it like following an infinite "S" rather than a closed "O.")
I was lucky enough to find
one example of rooms that wrap around the 8x8 corner with relatively close landmarks
(YouTube, 1:51). If you find rooms that occupy the same space like this (other than the non-intersecting 4-way rooms), then you know you've found a corner of your particular map.
As a few people have noted, the layout of each maze is random for each player and changes for each day of the week. Blizzard has even said that they weren't happy with the variance in difficulty among the player base. So don't be discouraged by the comments that claim they solved the puzzle in an hour or less. They were very lucky on the days they ran. If your dungeon is too much, try a different layout on another day.
And yes, you can absolutely go back and try them again after getting the mount. The urn in Kun-Lai remains interactable. :) Happy exploring!

I used a pen and squared paper to map the thing. Once you know the rules its not actually as difficult as it seems. Tbh i wish i could explain it here how to do it easily but I’m not sure i could describe it properly lol but i will say this: when mapping, don’t fear the portal room! How to know if you've just come out of it? Look back! If you just came out of it, there will be a pile of rubble behind you! You couldn't have come out normally from blocked way. Then remember where you just were and stay away from that room.

TL;DR: Game took all my progress after I dc'ed for a minute. I literally logged back in right after being thrown to the login screen.
It took me about 5 hours to get all the orbs to it's matching runes.
Only when I was pursuing the last rune to drop the last orb (blue, in this case), I noticed some of the orbs/runes I had previously gathered/matched were spawning again. I didn't think much about it, because I was certain that I had all four other colors delivered (kept track by whispering the colors i got to my mate).
I screamed so loud when I finally found the blue rune, but when I cliked on it, it despawned like it should but nothing happened after. I ported to another room, like the guide suggests, but the promised
Inconspicuous Note
didn't spawn after.
Then I realized that I had dc'ed before during the maze and that's most likely to be the culprit. The disconnection took only about a minute or so, but it was enough to completely reset my progress. It wasn't near reset time, neither did the server shut down or anything similar. Just a plain dc back to the login screen, and I lost all 3 orbs/runes I had matched before.
I procceeded to look for the remaining three orbs/runes. Fun fact is, I passed through them so many times, had it's pairs drawn in the
map app
and all. I must've passed through a teleport trap, my map got completely messed, the runes/orbs I've been running through many times before were nowhere to be found. At this point I was so tilted, the only thought I had in mind was
"I'm so damn close to getting it, if I quit now I've officially wasted all afternoon, but if I keep going I can make the loss bigger"
.
Quit after about 6/7 hours playing.
Honestly, I can't believe comments of people saying they did it in 20 minutes. Seems unreal to me. Or I am just THAT dumb.

Completed Endless Halls last night. (11/2/2020)

-Read all the comments here. Not very helpful as each scenario is randomly generated.
-Downloaded the Endless Halls Helper addon. It didn't work. Don't know if Blizz blocked it or what.
After crafting 7.... SEVEN... digital and hand drawn maps, here's my advice:
Crafting detailed maps will confuse and frustrate you so don't do it.
Your map will run into itself or go so far off the grid because of the looping edges, upstairs and downstairs floors and the teleporter room(s).
Instead craft a very broad generalized map once you find your first orb or rune. From their get a sense of direction of where the others are. Face north in every room and quickly jot down where rubble lies in each room as to keep your cardinal directions during this completely stupid and deceitful quest.
Getting a general sense of where things are is WAY more helpful than trying to make a perfect map. For example: Just knowing Blue orb is north of Red rune was enough for me to get where I needed to go. I was able to roughly track 3 pairings this way and came across the other 2 pairings although I wasn't able to properly plot them on my janky map because of the trolling mentioned above.
At this point I locked in the 3 pairs I roughly knew where they were. Took about 15-20min. From there I knew the general direction of where the remaining two runes and orbs were, just not specifically how to get there. This is after 5 hrs of bs, it's 3am and I'm just ready to be done with it. So I grabbed a drink, put on some music and made use of the auto-run while watching YouTube. Once I found an orb I grabbed it and ran in the general direction of it's rune and enjoyed watching Archer. Did the same for the final pair, took about 20-25min until I stumbled into the room I needed.
If you find yourself potentially stuck in a loop which is usually going one direction with east and west blocked of for a ridiculous amount of time, trek back until you can continue in a new direction.

in a single night, but ended up going to bed once I realised I'd already been running around in the Endless Halls for 2 hours, but still had only found 4 items, and my brain was rapidly melting out of my ears. I was thinking,

This morning, I completed the maze in about 3 hours, and it went significantly more smoothly. Here are my tips:
DON'T
get stuck trying to understand the anatomy of the maze.
Brain-melt is a common side-effect. All you really need to know is that the maze is
unique to every player
, it changes daily, and it's too complicated to run blindly for most.
DON'T
try to map it by hand!
That's what I tried to do initially. Because of the looping edges, intersecting rooms, and the teleportation room, it does more damage than good. This maze is too complicated for our simple human brains.
DO
use paper, a pen, and the
Endless Halls Helper
.
This
is what got me through. The Helper uses data you put into it to create a map of your unique maze. At first, I didn't think it would work, but you just need to feed it enough information, and it
will
create a map, and, as long as you didn't make any mistake when putting it in,
it is accurate
.
To use the Helper,
run randomly until you find a special room (orb or rune). Once you do, run randomly again until you reach another special room (or the teleportation room - you will know you have been teleported if you can't bactrack to the original room, or the entrance you came through is blocked with rubble) and keep track of which direction you went (
for example:
NESW
). Put the information into the helper. Repeat until it has enough data to calculate a map. Check to see if your map matches your maze and expand it if necessary.
Once you have your map with all 5 orbs and and their color-corresponding runes, write a detailed route on your paper from an orb to its rune, from that rune to the next orb, to the second orb's rune, and so on (
for example:
red orb → NESW → red rune → NESW → yellow orb → NESW → yellow rune
)
Remember
the orbs and runes will disappear as you match them, so you can't use them as landmarks anymore! Once you've made your route, do a test run to make sure it's correct, then complete the puzzle!

UPDATE FOR SHADOWLANDS:
The "Lucid Nightmare Helper" addon doesn't work with this expansion (or as far as I've been able to find).
INSTEAD: I used this badass website:

Basically, you wander around until you find an orb or a rune then you start "mapping" via text inputs.
My horrible explanation follows:
Say we found the red rune. You'd enter "#R" for the red rune, then you 'map' your movements until you find another rune/orb. Lets say we found the yellow orb after going N,S,S,W,E
Your initial entry would look like:
#RNSSWE$Y
Then the next line would be
$Y (whatever-directions-until-you-find-something-else), etc, etc
SO It'd potentially look like
#RNSSWE$Y
$YNNNSSWWWWWEE#B
#BWWWSSSSSNNNNEWE$G
etc etc
After you wander around enough and feed it enough information you can start to see it minimizing the possibilities until it eventually gives you a legible map! THEN the best part.... once your map is free of errors you can click point A and then click Point B and it will SHOW YOU THE PATH TO TAKE!
Oh also, if you've identified the trap room you can denote it with &T
Errors: If it gives you an error, either you've denoted a previously marked orb/rune in a different place OR you've denoted it in a place you previously said there was nothing there.
---MAKE SURE EVERY TIME YOU ENTER A ROOM WITH AN ORB/RUNE YOU TELL IT EVEN IF YOU ALREADY DID PREVIOUSLY---

This took me one long evening to complete.
What I did was draw a box every time I entered a room, if the room had something in it I would note it down, YO = yellow orb, YA = yellow altar, and so on. I drew a line to the next box connecting them with which way I had walked to and from the rooms making a mini map. I didn't bother with trying to learn where the 8 columns and rows ended or started, I knew I could just follow my map back through anyway. I managed to mark off 9 altars or orbs fairly quickly, I was only missing blue altar.
I walked around endlessly drawing boxes and I found blue altar twice, when I had seen every other one at least 10 times, it was very frustrating, neither of the paths I marked took me back to blue altar - I assume it was near the teleporter, I never worked out what room that was. In the end I went and picked up the blue orb and just aimlessly ran through rooms for a couple of hours until I got to blue altar, once that was done I ran around until I hit a room with an orb or altar in it and then it was smooth sailing, I checked all the ones I knew off in about 10 minutes.

4.5 hours, I was afraid to leave and lose progress...so I committed to it, just literally mapped boxes with X for blocked walls, arrows for openings marked how I came in a room as well. Some of my runes reappeared as well so I thought I lost progress, but alas I did not TFG!. It can be done just don't make plans and don't give up and probably don't leave the instance until your done. Good Luck!

Guy's I've done this twice. Once was when it was new, and then I merged two of my accounts...and apparently you lose certain achievements doing that. So I did it again just last night in 9.1.5.
No there was no helper addon. I tried two different mapping websites, one where you input codes (it didn't work), and one which helps you create a map. Neither of those was actually that helpful. Trying to draw a grid map is a disaster when there are paths that leap over other paths. I completed this in 2 hours absolutely stress free with my method. Just documenting paths. It's sort of an "inevitable discovery" method. The reason it's stress free is because eventually it WILL solve it. Once I had my path planned, I stuck to my documented routes, and from the time I grabbed the first orb to the time I read the final scroll was 10 minutes.
All I used was two notepad documents.
Enter Endless Halls
Notepad:
"Start to - "
And then I chose a direction, and every direction I went I would add it onto the notepad until I found something.
"Start to - east, east, east, north" and then I found the red rune, so I would change it to Start to Red Rune - east, east , east, north"
"Red rune to Yellow Rune"- west, west/ north, north, north/ west, west" etc etc.
What I did was use / to mean a rock wall in the direction I was going. I found it best to just go the same direction until you couldn't anymore.
Then eventually you find numerous checkpoint spots, and eventually you connect a couple and end up at a repeat. Then from there, you intentionally deviate off your known route and see where it leads you. It's also a good idea, even though it takes a little more time, to backtrack the route you just figured out. Because you may have entered a leapfrog room or even a portal room and not realized it. So you may solve Green Orb to Purple Orb, but the reverse route may not lead you from Purple to Green.
This was what mine looked like (I recommend using cardinal directions, I forgot the minimap was upside down at first, so I ultimately decided that each direction written is based on starting facing due south in each room)

At the end, once I had found everything, and knew I had a path that connected all of them, I planned my route. So I had one document which had my route directions, and then the other which was just my glossary for routes to use. I tested my route to make sure there were no mis-documented paths or trap rooms, and my solution ultimately was.

Key tips: Use cardinal directions in your documentation. It's just cleaner.
When starting unknown paths, go in the same direction until you can't anymore and then make a turn.
Backtrack each route. Don't worry, even if you get lost you will either get to a spot you know, or will randomly find a new one, and then you just start charting
from there.
Add something simple like a / in your route sequence to represent a wall. It will just help you later as you are cross referencing routes or deviating new ones.
Count CAREFULLY. Have it set that maybe you don't write down your direction until you enter the next room or something. Going Right x4 and Down x1 can
be MUCH...MUCH different than going Right x5 and Down x1, especially if there wasn't a rock wall preventing you from going Down in the wrong spot.
DO NOT solve any of the orb/rune combos until everything has been found, you need the rune and orb rooms as checkpoints to verify your paths.
TEST YOUR FINAL ROUTE TO CONFIRM CORRECT COUNTING OF ROOMS. IT'S MUCH EASIER TO GET LOST ONCE YOU SOLVE A FEW COLORS AND THOSE CHECKPOINTS DISAPPEAR

Decided to try this one as I needed a distraction. I regret everything.
Day 1 - I spent hours here.....HOURS *haunted face*. I stopped when I was till missing 2, lit a fire and penned a 'if you find this note' ready to leave by my corpse.
Day 2 - logged in, and found the maze had changed at reset. Everything was reset and I had to start all over again. I wanted to stab anything living, but just headbutted the keyboard instead.
After I stopped clawing at my face in woe, I decided to be logical about it. The add-on to help hasn't worked for years, so that was out of the question so I used logic and started running in certain directions. And to my amazement, I managed to complete this maze in 45 mins. I celebrated with fireworks then left as fast as I could, dark shadows under my eyes. Haunted....
So tips for you, but bear in mind this maze changes constantly and is never the same twice:
*Walk in a continuous direction (forward only) till the room forces you to change direction till you find an orb.
*The matching Glyphs are 3 out of 4 times found to be just 2/3 rooms away, so go that far and if one direction draws a blank, retrace and try a different route.
*Make sure you have drinks and snacks to hand, this will take a while. Be logical, memorise the direction of a long line of rooms in a row and change direction as soon as you can.
*Some maps are quick and small, some are long and huge - if you think you're trapped in a huge map and finding nothing take a break and let it reset.
*Don't forget one of the rooms is a secret 'trap' teleporter room which moves around as maps change. It will be next to impossible to be certain you found it so if you suspect you have leave a toy of some kind in there to warn you, and turn round.
Good luck, and maybe bring a minion - you need to eat after all once you've gone insane.

*** LUCID NIGHTMARE HELPER CAN BE USED FOR THIS STILL ***
I just completed this yesterday (Feb.21/2024), and I'll post all the steps you need to complete this successfully for yourself.
First of all, download the original Lucid Nightmare Helper addon. Someone on Curse posted a Github extension that can be used.

On the top right of the file package is a green button that says "Code". Open the dropdown menu and select "Download Zip". Extract all the files and replace the original addon files with these instead. Once inside the Endless Halls you'll need to type /Lucid to open the menu, /LM does not work.
The addon is supposed to have 5 coloured icons to mark rooms with runes, and 5 separate coloured icons to mark rooms with orbs, however I only had the icons for runes, but it's fine, it still works just as well with a slight (and easy!) modification that I will explain later.
Once you move through your first exit, the map will automatically generate a tile labelled "1", the next exit generates a tile labelled "2", etc. keep going through exits, passing through the rooms until you find either a rune or an orb. If it's a rune, just click on the coloured icon on the map to mark it, and if it's an orb do the same thing but write down what room number you're in and what colour it is. That way you'll know where to go back to when you have to carry the orbs to the matching rune, and you'll be able to tell which rooms were orbs and which were runes, since there is only one icon and no other way to differentiate.
THIS IS IMPORTANT.
There are two layers to the Endless Halls, and generally you won't know when you move to a new layer. You'll be able to tell by the colours of the tiles on the map... they will be two different shades of grey, one for either layer. The reason this is important to note is because you will most likely pass over a room you saw in the opposite layer, and when this happens the addon will give you a popup screen asking if you want to link the room or skip it.
**SKIP IT**
If you link it, you will have no way to get back to the previous layer and you'll waste a lot of time.
That's what happened to me, and fortunately there's an easy solution! You can just click on the "X" on the map to reset all of the tiles and start remapping fresh. It does not affect your progress if you've already carried orbs back to runes, I promise! I had already completed 2 colours, but realized I had messed up my map pretty badly, so I reset it and went on to find the remaining 3 colours of orbs/runes and finished with no issue. No matter how badly you mess up your map, there's no need to worry, simply reset it and keep going, you will eventually discover all of the orbs and runes again.
Once you've found all 5 of each, simply pick an orb and retrace your path back through the maze, following the tiles on the map to get to the matching rune. Sometimes it will be a long walk back, sometimes you might get lucky.
It took a little over 3 hours in there for me, largely because I didn't understand how the mapping worked. Once that clicked it went much smoother.
If there are any questions, or clarification needed I will be happy to help. This addon was a lifesaver, even though it wasn't quite 100% functional like the original. Still made it immensely easier in the long run. Good luck!

i lost internet for like 2 min and i logged back in the last time i was where the red rune was and now it's not there anymore and while checking arround all the other runes i did before reseted i think everything resets when you log off (i had the red orb on me but i still had it it seems like only the runes reset but idk if the progression is reseted tho seems like it)
