For Zalethgos's race you'll see these abilities in your vehicle interface:

奥术提速

Up to PTR Build 10.1.5.50355, I got disconnected a lot when I was using 闪烁加速. When I logged back in, I found my character stranded in Suramar (looks like this has been hotfixed, relogs from within races now end up in 1-2 loading screens and I find myself in Valdrakken or in the zone with vehicle interface). So I couldn't really try for good timings here and was just doing slow and save runs without it. At least we no longer temporarily lose the vehicle interface when passing specific WQ trigger zones in Suramar.

A note for 奥术提速: As long as you have this buff active, it will constantly boost your speed up to 714% (that's what a Dragonriding Weakaura tells me). That seems to be some sort of cap for your whelp in this race even while descending (only Blink Boost and gale winds will make you faster for a short moment). This also means that you won''t see any speed boost when you're already at this pace, which may feel a bit weird.

Yeah this is awful with the disconnects.. Race is completeable without blinking, just as Sambu mentions you might have to time your 2nd ability a bit. You're not gonna get Gold without blink though (not that this seems to have any effect atm?).

To get gold (with disconnect bug), put the camera in first person, just use blink when you are as straight as possible (I used guidelines to guide me), and use it when the next goal is on top of you to get a speed bonus. I got gold with 99.2 seconds, just 0.8 seconds away from silver. Thanks Blizz.

Okay, so good grief. I've tried everything from going to my class hall to dismiss my bodyguard to disabling all addons to trying it on a fresh install on a different computer with absolutely no change. I tried grorge's suggestion of putting the camera into first person. That worked the first two times I used 闪烁加速, but disconnected on the third use. What I found works best, but by no means prevents all disconnects, is enable the motion sickness settings to:

Motion Sickness - Keep Character Centered and Reduce Camera Motion
Dragonriding Motion Sickness - Darkening and Circle
Dragon Riding Speed Effects - Uncheck
Camera Shake - None

Put the camera into first person and start the quest. If you are in a straight stretch and not gaining or losing altitude when you use 闪烁加速, you're less likely to get disconnected. And as Sambu suggested, time 奥术提速 so you use it before you gain altitude for a higher ring. This helps a lot. It's not perfect, but it got me Silver (I was shy of getting gold by 0.4 seconds).

Another badly designed quest from blizzard. Just press 2 and 3, never use blink. Keep an eye to have momentum and you'll eventually finish this awful quest.

How to avoid the disconnects

During this quest it's extremely probable that you will get disconnected, this happens because of a cheating protection which should have been disabled/patched for this event. While it is possible to complete the race just soaring without blinking, it's extremely difficult to obtain gold.

tl;dr
Blink moving horizontally and not when changing zone area.

The game client controls the movement of your character, and every several frames (not every one) syncs with the server. Based on the direction and speed of your character the server has a range of possible locations you can be in the next sync.
The blink ability executes horizontally, no matter if you're previously moving up or down. If you're moving up or down the server expects to be higher or lower in the next sync but actually you appear at a different height and way ahead. The distance where you are is too far away from what the server accepts as normal so assumes you are cheating and kicks you.
A similar situation happens when you zone in a different subzone. Suramar has several layers for phasing and although seamless for the players when moving normally, you're actually entering a new instance. When you enter this subzone but blink thought it, you'll appear quite far away from its border, the server expects you to enter near the border and again assumes you are cheating.
So, in summary, try to blink as horizonal as possible and avoid doing it in some key points you will notice when changing zone name and you would probably do it in a handful of tries.

This quest is something else.

I noticed another delightful effect: sometimes, if you blink too close to a surface below you, you don't blink in the direction you're looking or even directly horizontal. You blink down to the surface, landing you and wrecking the run (since the whelp can't take off like a dragonriding mount would).

It's absurd that there are so many unobvious and almost unavoidable ways to fail, and you have to study it harder than a mythic raid encounter to have any hope of scoring well.

GOLD is possible w/ disconnection issues (submitted screenshot for proof) When you start 5..4..3..2.. (hit the #2 button when the countdown hits 1 so your boost is already starting when you jump off the ledge) 1... You CAN'T fly upwards with blink. Only active #2 will help you climb. So , try to use blink only when traveling horizontal. I don't use BLINK until after the 4th or 5th ring (right before the 1st whirlwind). Once you hit the whirlwind boost, there is no point in hitting any buttons. Take advantage of the whirlwind boost. After, I hit the BLINK once, then wait 1 second and hit BLINK again bypassing the tornado. AVOID all tornados. You will need to hit #2 to make the uphill climb. If you have 1 vigor left and you are able to hit #3 reset DO IT. too many times I run out of vigor and can't reset. GAME OVER!. As long as you see a trail of stars, you will be able to do steep climbs. the long stretches of space i hit BLINK twice otherwise just activate #2 as often as possible. I think I had to reset all the vigor 3 times. after death a bunch of 109s, I hit 2 silvers, and then finally Gold 99.83. I think a lot was luck. I disconnected about 15 times. Good luck

I noticed that if you dont hold right click while blinking it doesnt dc you.

Oh, great. This quest was up the other day but I didn't end up completing it because I kept getting disconnected and eventually had to go.
Realizing now it's the last one I need for the achievement.

garbage daily, fml man, disconnects, using teleport when slighty moving camera upwards blinks you way lower and slows you down. Absolute garbage daily.

Anyone else getting DCed in the middle of the race? Twice in a row here right now. At least one of the achievements only requires that you start these.

Dragonflight is the most buggy disconnection fest of all wow expansions ever. Press 2 then at the end of the buff press 3 and fill with 1 to go in a straight line, (dont right click or you will DC).

Good news, haven't run into any DCs! Bad news, it's because the 'you've stopped moving' effect kicks on loading in and I don't even make past the race's countdown before being booted back to valdrakken!

I managed a time of 1.06 without using blink. I was only ever disconnecting when I used that ability.

Good news is that to get the Achievement Whelp! There it is - you just need to finish this race

So don't use BLINK - use Arcane Acceleration & Accelerated Restoration on cool downs.

Yes it's a slower race but you don't disconnect. Good luck!

Fun thing I learned is that if you glitch and crash, it will keep the quest in your log, but kick you to Valdrakken.

If you drop the quest anywhere in the known universe from there it ports you back to the daycare center.

Have fun with that knowledge.

I don't disconnect in this race anymore, here's how:

The trick with blinking is to make sure your whelp is positioned forward on a straight, even plane with the ground (i.e. parallel with the X-axis). You'll notice that whenever you blink forward, the whelp re-aligns itself with the X-axis plane. Attempting to blink while nosing up or down causes disconnects, whether or not you are holding down right-click.

So this just means you should not blink whenever you are nosing up or down. Only blink when moving straight-forward and you won't disconnect. You can definitely blink while holding down right-click so long as you're keeping the whelp on the straight line. I was able to hit a 92 second gold time (not that it seems to mean anything at the moment).

Who ever designed this quest doesn't just not deserve to work for Blizzard, they don't deserve to live in the real world with the rest of functioning society. Please, put the person responsible into a mental ward where they belong.

Read here about not using Blink and got it done first try by not using blink...just keep steady pace using 2 and 3 and boom got it done.....

We're up to 10.2.5 now, and you can still easily disconnect yourself on this quest. I seemed to trigger it NOT while using blink, but while using the second acceleration ability... though not sure if I was holding right button at the time or not... good times. Edit: Did finally complete it after 3 tries, using all 3 abilities, just making sure not to hold right-button while using ANY of them.

Did this today...

Immediately used BLINK, then 2, then kept blinking until it basically ran out. Hit 3, did it all again... The only thing that stopped me from getting gold is because I ran into one of the upward funnels...

Never once had any problems, no disconnections.

I've been waiting for this quest to pop to complete the achievement 小雏龙最可爱了 and 疾速日托 for the Meta 苏醒的世界. As soon as i accept the quest there is a legion loading screen and then it goes back to the dragonflight loading screen and i appear in Valdrakken again. The achieve daycare derby achievement popped but not whelp, there it is! I've disabled addons, restarted, cleared cache, help!

I'll log a ticket and see if that helps.

P.S. A side note my character is a mage. I even tried turning on 奥术动能 as someone suggested. Still nothing.

Watch out for those upwards drafts! Yes, they buy you a bit more airtime, but they will cancel your Arcane Acceleration (2) buff, thus not allowing you to use Accelerated Restoration (3). Plan carefully and press 3 BEFORE you hit the updrafts!

Blink no longer disconnects, but tends to completely break the current speed boost and direction and just overall is unhelpful unless you're going in a straight line.

Hope this helps! I noticed a looking for group iron lower right hand side of screen at the DC point, it’s was a quest in the old zone that my character DH had never done. The name was twin blades of the deceiver for me. I went and did this quest and tried again, passed it with no issues.

Seems that the war within pre-patch broke this one too..? But unlike with the other races, I wasn't ported to fatigue zone, so I guess that is a plus?

Being unmounted -- didn't work
Disabling addons -- didn't work

If anyone succeeded in completing this after the patch hit, I'd greatly appreciate hearing what sort of sorcery was used to actually doing the race vs enjoying loading screens and unwanted teleports..

Have completed this today after the pre-patch every attempt kept having the quest fail and dump me in the Waking Shores. I deleted all my addons from the Interface folder, not just disabled but deleted. Seems to have worked.

Finally got it working. I deleted all add ons (as recommended by other comment), closed everything WoW related and reopened. At this point it still wouldn’t work. I reloaded in game and dismounted and it loaded the quest finally!
