These mobs are activated when
Spirit Alarm
goes off, which seems to be triggered by fighting trash mobs near the
Deathbound Ward
. They appear to be placed throughout the instance.

Can't pull them out of the room, or they reset. Also, they have an ability that locks casters out of their respective schools, and possibly a short stun also. But the biggest thing to remember is WATCH OUT FOR CLEAVES!
The damage is physical, and hits for roughly 10k on mail.

The alarm itself doesn't do damage... but the 80% reduction in move speed kinda makes it hard to avoid the Deathbound Ward's cleave.

in 10m seems to actually be 2.78, not sure if thats for everyone, otherwise posted as a 3 second cast.

The alarm that sets these guys in motion is a PHYSICAL, VISIBLE object - but only to those that can disarm them, i.e., Rogues.
Have your rogues go carefully, and disarm the nearby traps that would otherwise set off the alarm and awaken these monstrosities.
(Honestly, you don't know how long we spent wondering "Is it a tripwire? Is it fighting mobs near them? Is it based on CCing some mobs and there being some left to shout an alarm?". We leash-reset them a few times, and eventually one of our rogues said "Hey, I can disarm this.")

Stop casting during Disrupting Shout, it locks out whatever school of magic you're casting. If you stop casting when he does this, you won't get locked out.

For rogues, these traps are very easy to see, they look like a sort of a crater with water inside, approximately 5-7 yard diameter. There's one for each ward, you will be able to see them when you're near them, so be careful. I think they spawn at different locations in the room, but I haven't been able to test that theory yet, just assuming because of the way they were positioned (totally random places) for me.

I am a rogue, and disabled the alarm. Somehow both still woke up, albeit one at a time, and with a 10 minute or more window between the two. If not a bug, might be triggered if you fight near it (like, trying to level up a ranged skill as melee on the critters) or testing your lag with an AoE.

Worth noting that if you are grinding reputation, those guys give nice 75 rep per. If you can identify where the traps are, pull something easy next to them so the Wards can activate, and then either reset the easy pull by running back to Light's Justice, or annihilate it. The Wards themselves are pretty easy (if long) fights, as long as they don't catch you off-guard.

Okay, after a few days, and many trash (reputation) runs, we finally have it all figured out!
There are total of 4 Deathbound Wards before Lord Marrowgar - two in the first room, two in the second one. There are 4 Spirit Alarms, again two in the first room, two in the second one. Spirit Alarms are activated by a player (or a pet) walking on top of them. They slow everybody in proximity for a few seconds when they go off, and they slow them a lot. Each Spirit Alarm is tied to one of the Deathbound Wards, but it seems like the Alarm and its Ward don't necessarily have to be in the same room.
How to deal with them? You can have a Warlock use Eye of Kilrogg, and just scout blindly
Can no longer use Eye of Kilrogg, but nonetheless - Alarms tend to be close to mobs, or around the sides of the rooms. If you have rogues, they can stealth and find the traps. When they are found, you can trigger them (the alarm breaks stealth when it goes off), or you can disarm them. If you decide to trigger them, have a tank ready.
How to clear the trash without getting the Wards? Clear the left side and right side (sticking to the sides), then go back to the entrance of the room, and trigger the traps one by one. Tank the Wards on the cleared sides. Only they pull the middle two packs. In the second room, trigger the traps first. Tank the Wards back in the first room, waiting for them to patrol away from the standard trash pack (as they will pull too).

Our raid's Rogue disarmed the traps he saw but we still managed to wake up a Ward. Is there something we are missing? It pulled after we cleared trash with trap disarmed before trash was pulled.

It's important to note that this mob can be disarmed to cut down on the damage they inflict. They also have a frontal arc cleave, so face the mob away from the raid.

In 10 man we just easily did this by having the 2 tanks stack to soak damage, and call out the spell lock cast. Doing this makes it very easy. Consider it practice for Lord Marrogar's Spirit Lash. I forgot to mention, this was tanking both of them at the same time with tanks around 40k life.

Currently Aura Mastery is bugged (or not, I mean they just nerfed it by 40%...) and does not prevent their Disrupting Shout from interrupting/silencing the raid. Unless you're doing 25 man, I really wouldn't test this if I were you.

Just a note, you can activate the spirit alarms with a warlock's
Eye of Kilrogg
. We found this useful to be able to pull them seperately instead of surprising us on a larger pull. The eye's aggro radius is very small so you can move in and around most of the already spawned trash. Only really helpful if you don't have a rogue or you're farming rep.

I like to call them as a mini bosses.
Many tanks fear them a lot. I even have nightmare about them. Also they give 75 rep point which is a lot for being a trash mob.

Important note, stack your tanks when facing these down, as they have the exact same mechanic of splitting their cleave damage that Marrowgar does. It IS possible to single-tank them, though the tank is going to need massive, fast heals - an
amazing
tank can even tank two at once, but please note that they are
taunt immune
. They also seem to like plowing straight through aoe tank-pickup abilities such as consecration to make a beeline for the healers, so hunters and rogues should be MDing and ToT to the tank always on the pull for these.
That said, these give a sweet 75 rep each. I vote to kill them instead of disarming them whenever possible.

Anyone else noticed that when you pull these lots of Ebon Blade Champions come and help, as well as Darion Mograine's Horse, Fury - they dont help much, but was just interesting to see them come pouring in.

I would like to comment that if you don't have rogue to see those traps that trigger

Icecrown Citadel
, and no warlock to use the
Eye of Kilrogg
, you can use
Crashin' Thrashin' Racer Controller
. I used it and i was able to trigger the traps far in advance.

As Xdoom mentioned the crashin' thrashin' racer can be used to trigger the traps - they tend to be beside the blue brazers or under the feet of the mobs in the center of each room, though the traps do vary in position with each reset. My guild found using the racer to be perfect for deciding when to fight them. Also it would appear that the Wards now give only 49.5 rep per kill for non-humans.

We tend to use a Hunter using Eye of the Beast to set off the traps. If the pet dies, it can be rez'd easily from outside of the room.
It seems that as of the last update (Feb 2nd patch), the traps are dropped randomly not only in place, but also in time. We have cleared the lower room totally of mobs, activated one in the upper room, and then activate another one in the lower room as we move forward to deal with the first one after reseting to get rid of the adds.
Anyone else notice this?

Does anyone know what that 5 yards means in "saber lash" spell range when spell description is "Splits 200% of normal melee damage to an enemy and its two nearest allies". Does it mean that main target must be within 5 yards and 2 nearest allies can be example 10 yards away to get hit, or does it mean that 2 allies must be within 5 yards from main target to get hit ?

Hunter pets can activate these traps as well. With the new 'move to' command, you can run your pet around the room and potentially trigger them while you're standing out of the way of the cleaves.

This may seem intuitive to some, but I tested a Stealthman 54 to see if I could locate the traps on a non-rogue, and it did not work.

Traps seem to spawn randomly. They may all be there when you walk in, or it may take 10-15 minutes for them to spawn. I had to bring in a rogue to figure this out when I was farming the rep.
