New boss added in VoA, who drops T9+2 gear/S7 pieces on 25 man, and T9+1 pieces/S6 pieces on 10 man. Drops Emblems of Triumph on both 10 and 25.
From the little I've heard about him he is more of a gear check than a tactical fight. Just remember the Golden Rule, DON'T STAND IN THE FIRE!
Edit: Some notes after wiping on this boss before a WG battle began...
He leaves patches of fire that tick initially for about 2k per second on 10 man. On 25 man these tick FAR heavier, starting at 4-5k a tick. They're easy to spot and stay out of, especially if you have DBM, the screen yells at you.
He also has a Meteor Fist ability which splits damage amongst targets within 10 yards of the tank. Ideally you ought to have two tanks, one to soak up some Meteor Fist damage, or else your MT will take large spike damage and possibly get one-shotted with low DPS. Melee can soak up some damage, but this isn't recommended.
His Burning Breath is the defining element of the fight, and as the fight progresses, it will deal a LOT of damage. It initially deals 4000 Fire Damage per second for 3 seconds to everyone, and it is resistable. I'm not sure whether it deals greater damage on 25 man, but if so, only slightly; even so, with the flame patches in 25 man hurting a LOT (and you're bound to take a single tick before you move out) you can count on spiky raid damage.
Finally, he has a soft enrage: Burning Fury. He stacks this every 20 seconds and one stack increases his damage by 5%. With low DPS he'll start hitting the tanks very hard and his Burning Breath and flame patches will become lethal, especially in conjunction.
If the fight lasts 6 min (Emalon's Berserk) then he will be hitting for 90% increased damage, so Burning Breath will be an inflated 22800 damage over 3 seconds, and flame patches will tick for ~4k (8k-9k on 25 man). These are bound to start killing people, in the all too common and lethal occurrence where a flame patch spawns right before a Burning Breath.
All in all, it isn't too hard of a fight, just get some DPS with above 3k-3.2k dps, some good healers and tanks, and you're good to go. This is more of a gear check than anything else.
Edit2: Figured I'd leave some damage soaking strategies for Burning Breath if you have some low DPS and it's really starting to hurt.

Edit3: One last little tidbit. Many PuGs I've been with suggest that Meteor Fists share damage with everyone within 10 yards of the MT. This is not true. It deals 120% of Koralon's melee as Fire damage to up to 2 targets. The spell cast
of Meteor Fists
is vague, but
the actual buff
indicates two targets. DO NOT stack melee, they will take 60% of a melee swing as Fire damage (presumably ~24k) and will have a high chance of dying.

By walking, the MT and OT will have less trouble standing on top of eachother - which is a must.

Healers get an excellent oppertunity to sharpen those reflexes - the entire raid takes damage throughout the fight, part of which is unavoidable and hits all players at the same time. A quick response can easily make the difference between life or death in this battle.

Make sure that in all the chaos, the tanks arent suddenly out of range.

Koralon doesnt have a hard enrage timer like Archavon/Emalon, instead he just gains a 5% damage increase every 20 seconds - adds a bit of flexibility incase your tanks/healers are outperforming your DPS.

be flat on the floor :) I personally found Emalon a lot more difficult when he was introduced, I wish everyone good luck! :)

The basic tactics are:
Have both tanks stand near each other. No one else in front of Koralon (leave some room for the tanks to move if they find themselves standing in fire, without you ending up in front of Koralon). Tanking is fairly easy - just agree on in which way to move if fire appears under your feet.
When Koralon begins to spin and hurl fire, everyone will take massive damage - healers stand ready. Some will end up standing in fire at this piont too. The fire on the ground will slow your movement down, and kill you just short of immidiately if it occurs at the same time as he does his spin/hurl.
I recommend you start moving once he does this spinning/hurling.
A personal reflection is that healers will to a higher degree than others be targeted with this fire-on-ground thing at the same time as Koralon starts to spin and hurl fire, whereas they basically get one-shotted.
Fire will appear on the ground at other times too. It's swiftly deadly by itself as well, and somewhat hard to get out of fast enough.

Just did this with a Pug group, 2 tanks, 3 Heals and 5 dps, rough Average 4k dps.
Our strategy was the main tank, Pali-tank, hugged the wall behind Koralon, Melee stood at his heels, ranged were scattered. had Fire resist totems up. one totem was close to the Pali-Tank. The other was in the back with the ranged.
Helpful tip: Don't stand in the fire patch, melts through plate like a warm knife in butter. Fire patches come from when he twirls.
Main Tank: Keep your back to the wall, and
STRAFE
left or right to stay out of the fire.
Off-Tank for this fight, switch to some dps gear, if you have any or just swing your weapon and hope you do
SOME
damage.
Melee dps: attack his heels. watch for the patches of fire. He likes to drop a lot of fire at his feet.
Ranged: Keep your distance, the tank may need to move left or right to get out of the fire, translation, don't crowd the tank, let 'em play a little bit.
Healers: Please try to overheal the Main tank, cause trust me, the Tank is going to be nothing but ash when Koralon gets his ouch buff.

This fight follows Wow Raiding rule 101. Stay out of the damn fire!
In my eyes the fight rests even more heavily on the tanks and heals than the dps. (Unlike emalon whom Tanks have to only worry about first pull and picking up ads).
The center of the room is the place that I'd try to stay away from. Since the fires tend to blend in with it at times, so you might accidently run right through one.
For tanks, The key is moving together. Since Meteor fist is split between people within 10 yards of the main target.
I found that just if I see the debuff of the flame on me We would shift left around the room. Tanking this fight is more about paying attention than anything. Be aware of your surroundings so that you don't go from one fire into another.

Due to the middle of his room having a "glowing" effect it is best to always stick around the edge as otherwise it is very hard to see the patches of fire on the floor.
Even around the edge you might have to change your camera angle to avoid this bright light from the centre of his room.

Did it in a PUG in 2nd attempt. You definitely need 3 healers as the boss hits MT like a truck, 42k hp on MT was barely enough to survive his burst damage. Besides, tell everyone to stay out of fire and you should be just fine.

Downed on the 1st try in a Pick-Up Group as Off-Tank with 300 Fire Resistance ^_^ I'm pushing to the 415 cap next time :-j
I'm betting dropping below the Def crit cap won't be a problem: none of Koralon's
Meteor Fists
were blocked, dodged or parried, so they shouldn't crit. I'll edit to confirm or deny.
EDIT: Officially you'd probably have to run a lot more tests to be 100% sure, but for my part I'm convinced, especially after reading other posts on this page about how Meteor Fists is a spell. I got up to ~350 RF and ~520 def, and ~415 RF and ~500 def, and still didn't see a crit.
And even if there does happen to be a crit at one point, I'm sure I'll resist so much of it that it most likely won't matter
(scratch that, crits are BAD, I do lose more than half my life under Meteor Fists when Koralon's at his last 10%).

to the 1st post talking about theory (specifying how I got to the FR cap is for proof of concept). I added this post so that we could discuss about the results of practice.
EDIT2: So that's 7 non-wipes total out of 8 succesful tries in an OK raid as off-tank with FR gear (the wipe came from many early dps deaths), and for 6 of these I wasn't Def capped. I now have 3 lev 79-80 greens of Fire Resistance (including cloak with
enchant
), which allows me to only wear 2 Flamebane pieces, and drop
Lesser Flask of Resistance
for
Flask of Stoneblood
.
Some tries completely failed, but never would have made it anyway, healers ran OOM too soon and would have run OOM sooner had I been taking twice the damage (the joys of PUG :-j but I enjoy the challenges, having to really outdo myself is good practice).
There was even one non-wipe success where the raid afterwards proceeded to wipe a few times on Emalon.
At any rate, still not a single crit from Meteor Fists (and no miss, dodge, block or parry either), and I get up to 20k resists ! Which makes for sweet screenshots.
For my next attempt I'll be MT in as much FR I can put on while still remaining Def capped for being crit immune. Koralon's melee seems kinda wimpish without his buff...

Only the Main Tank gets hit with physical damage in this event. If the Off-Tank has Fire Resistance capped, that will mitigate a LOT of damage, and you will easily be able to do it with two healers (maybe even only 4 in a 25-man).

is indeed a spell (and npc spells can't crit). Either that or only the MT's defense is considered when determining if the attack will crit or not. At any rate defense and armor value seem to be of no use for the Off-Tank.

becomes just a lot of hot air, and the odd
Flaming Cinders
spawning on the ground are barely hot enough to cook marshmallows with anymore ("Noo, the MT moved too soon again ! Why won't she stay in the flames ?").
I resist at least 50% of Koralon's 20k-24k slammers pretty much every time, which is basically like
getting instantly healed for 10k-12k or more each time
. And those "heals" scale, they become more and more powerful as
Burning Fury
stacks.
PS: If the Flamebane set is gemmed with
Thick King's Ambers
, an otherwise top-geared tank can come pretty close to the Fire Resistance cap while still being crit immune and having tons of HP, allowing the raid to use only one. This might be what the game designers had in mind for

Meteor Fists is like a one-target cleave, meaning the damage will be split with one additional member. That being said, you don't want your non-plate wearers being that additional member. :)

I found that this encounter is really well suited for Discipline Priest healing, or rather, absorption. The whole raid will be taking unavoidable damage, and one of the most common ways people die is from an unfortunate flame cinder placed right under them at the end of his flame breath, when they're already low on health. Had the person been protected with a PW:Shield, they would have enough hit points left over to move, and survive.
For example, I tried healing this on my Disc Priest and after 3 wipes I switched to doing nothing but putting shield on everybody in the raid. Following this, we killed him with only 4 deaths (on 25 man), 2 of which occurred right at the very end of the fight (just bad luck). The raid was taking significantly less damage during his flame breath, and overall was much easier to heal, as hardly anyone even dropped below 50%. Incidentally, my Recount was reporting more damage absorbed than the #1 healer had healing done.
Moral of the story: if you know damage is coming, a pre-emptive shield is better than taking the damage and trying to heal everybody afterwards.

This guy is without a doubt the hardest boss, he is not hard, but the hardest. His big attacks include...
Burning Breath which deals about 12,000 damge over 4 seconds to the whole raid.
Meteor fist which on 10 man deals between 25,000 and 35,000 damage, so if he is casting it, healers make sure the tank is at full heath, my tanks have died becuase this move hit them for 35,000 while there health is down.
Another important thing, (my raids always fiqure this is obvious, but because of human error we explain it anyway)
***** >>>> GET OUT OF THE FIRES <<<< ***** they deal damage every second, for some squishys (cloth wearers, Mages, Warlock, ect.) the damage from the fire plus Burning Breath is enough to kill you, so fire = bad.
Fire resistance is important for this raid, so make sure all fire resistance buffs are up, if you have a pally in raid, tell them to put on fire resistance aura.
Thats basically all there is to it, comment plz if I forgot something, or got something wrong

Some notes for healers on 25 man:
As Mr Frodo said, the patches of fire on the ground do 4k to 5k damage per tick near the start, and this grows pretty fast. If a player (especially a caster, since they hate to interrupt a spellcast) takes too long to get out of this patch and takes two ticks of damage, putting a renew or rejuvenation, and to a lesser extent, a lesser healing wave, riptide, flash of light, or holy shock won't help too much if a Burning Breath is incoming. People need to be healed back up fully before a burning breath. They need a good sized direct heal, not a HoT that they have to wait on.
A weak heal or HoT is a bit of a help, but it is too risky to throw a tiny heal on a badly wounded target and to assume that other healers will have helped the guy out, too, allowing you to move on. There's often a few players at any time who are in dire need of heals, and you may be the only healer who's switched their attention to that specific player
Burning Breath is lethal because it punishes you for not aqequately healing up wounded players. DPS get very frustrated when they spend a few seconds (that feels like an eternity) with low enough health that they know they'll die to a burning breath unless they get help fast. They don't look at the HoTs ticking slowly on them, they look at what their health is currently at.
DPS need to prioritize staying alive and not making it hard on the healers over executing their rotation for better dps. Some dps need more healing due to how lag affects their ability to react and move out of harm's way, whereas others need more healing due to their own selfishness/stupidity. And some are just flat out squishy. Healers need to know which dps are more likely to require extra healing, and to react appropriately.
Most HoTs tick every 3 seconds, Burning Breath ticks every 1 second. Don't rely on HoTs to help keep a badly damaged dps or healer from dying to burning breath.
If a person has the bad luck to have a fire thrown under them during a burning breath, then you have to hope that they are aware enough to move out of the fire patch quickly. It is harder to recognize patches of fire on the ground during Burning Breath, and your raid needs to be aware that the two can both hit at the same time, and that they provide an especially dangerous combination that needs to be watched for.
Archavon tests the tanks' coordination, Emalon tests the dps' coordination, and so of course Koralon is the big test of the healer's coordination.

Done it on 10 man, with a heal priest and heal shaman.
PUG, first try 300K, second dead, and no extraordinary dps.
As this is a dps race, if you take 3 heal it might take too long. The best is to take 2 and pray the others don't stay in the fire.

I could be wrong, but since Meteor Fists does Fire damage, it should completely ignore armor; if the OT is wearing cloth FR gear instead of plate FR gear, it shouldn't make a difference.

One note about this. as many people may have Failed WoW 101, melee following Koralons incredibly attractive posterior may be distracted by his junk in the trunk just enough to not notice the fire he was just kited onto.
If its not incredibly obvious from your "real world" raids in your own home, standing in fire is bad, even if someone bigger than you just did it too show off

Koralon's Burning Breath now has a 6 sec cooldown to prevent him from casting it immediately after Blazing Embers.
from my personal experience this has been an issue for a lot of people fighting him. There are few ways to counteract this attack unless you are a healer yourself and have a strong instant cast ready to go. This change should save a lot of raid wipes and make this fight much less tedious =)

A good note on this fight - don't stand in the center of the room, as it's much harder to recognize the burning embers. Stand off to the side (hopefully the tank is too) so you can see the glowing embers against the contrast of the darker floor.

Ranged dps should be told that they essentially have only 2 jobs. One, to attack Koralon, and two, to stay the crap out of those fires. I usually tell everyone to stay out of the middle of the room unless they have DBM. The middle has that fancy orangeish-yellow appearance on the floor making it difficult for some people to see the aoe.
Once again, to recap: DPS you have two jobs, attack Koralon and stay out of the aoe fire. Let your raid healers do their job and dps your ass off.

As a side note, not sure how this is calculated but my combat log shows Koralon gives 322 Honor for being killed.
Emalon gives 242 honor and Archavon gives 161 honor.

10 man version is soloable as a 372 ilvl MM hunter with a beetle pet. I specced into Spirit Bond and used Glyph of Mending. I've done it with and without 2-piece tier 5; I found using it was generally more forgiving when the stacks got very high, however. I haven't needed to use any consumables or have any buffs on me.
Just do a normal DPS rotation while keeping Mend Pet up and rotating between Harden Carapace (or Shell Shield if using a turtle) and Cower when your pet gets low. And move out of the fire, of course. I've been getting him down around the 15th stack.

Most damage is easy to take, but the meteor fists were hitting for around 30k a go.

Just solo'd this on my Blood DK, 396 iLvl, with 1 Dps trinket and a Raid Finder Gurthalak. I killed him with 4 seconds until berserk doing 13.5k dps. I took 1.4 Million Damage and did 4.1k Heals Per Second. What I did to survive was, first meteor fists, I went unholy presence and ran as far as I could, and only took 1-2 hits from it. Then after that I spread out my cooldowns, using AMS one meteor fists, IBF, Vamp Blood, Lichborne, etc etc. I used AotD and sacrificed my ghoul on the last meteor fists. Anyone attempting it. Good Luck :P

I was able to solo this as an
85 atonement Discipline Priest
, but you probably need very good gear to pull it off.
I tried it as shadow first, but he stomped me pretty hard; I wasn't able to keep up with the incoming damage as shadow, even spamming flash heal with infinite mana from masochism, and there is no hope of burning him down before he kills you.
I used this spec:

and reforged all my gear to haste, then spirit. I used my i407 healing set (full BIS heroic Dragon Soul healing gear with the exception of Signet of Suturing and a heroic Conq helm token) and put on my Dragonwrath staff for this. You might be able to accomplish this with less gear, but not a lot less. He hits like a truck later in the fight and you need good damage output.
The fight execution is simple, so it's mostly just a gear check:
Use Inner Fire (this is why we have Inner Sanctum talent points).
Holy Fire/Smite spam when you aren't healing yourself.
Shadowfiend on cooldown for extra damage.
Move when he drops a fire at your feet and cast PW:S, mending, or renew while you're moving.
Penance, then start spamming Flash Heal anytime your atonement heals aren't keeping up (should only be during or to catch up from Meteor Fists).
Alternate using Pain Suppression and PW:Barrier for Meteor Fists.
Flash Heal/Penance spam during Meteor Fists later in the fight when he starts hitting hard. Don't wait for your health to drop before you start healing; do it as soon as he gains the buff.
Later in the fight you may want to Shield/Penance yourself on cooldown even if you're not missing health just to keep Inspiration, Grace, and Weakened Soul (crit bonus) available for the damage spikes.
I killed him at 24 stacks on the 'soft enrage' buff and I had about 20% mana left. If you execute more cleanly than I did and get more nukes off, you might be able to finish with more mana/less gear/less stacks on the boss.

Some additional help and advice for fellow DKs struggling with soloing this:
This fight is
all magic damage
(his autoattacks should be completely negated by Blood Shield). Unequip your tanking gear and go full out dps (preferrably stacking expertise/hit). The faster you down the boss the better. My successful attempt was ~4m long.
If you're getting killed by Meteor Fists, considering using the following to increase your spell resist: Glyph of Anti-Magic Shell, Rune of Spellshattering on your weapon, Prismatic Elixir, Drums of Forgotten Kings.
Good cooldown management is also the key to Meteor Fists. You should have Blood Tap and AMS up for every Meteor Fists. Alternate between Bone Shield and Vampiric Blood every other MF. If your health dips below 35%, use Pet Sacrifice, Lichborne, or ERW (4x Death Strike). And of course IBF and Army of the Dead are decent damage reductions, although Army is only ~15% dmg reduction because you are in dps gear.
My DK has a 388 ilvl with LFR Gurthalak, so it's a bit of a gear check. I squeaked out a kill with all cooldowns down and about 10% health left (had a 2% wipe beforehand). The more dps gear you have, the easier I imagine this will be for you to solo.

Soloed this as a Prot Warrior with DPS gear, 1H + shield, stam trinkets.
Fairly doable, but still tricky. Meteor Fists hit for a LOT, try to use cooldowns on them. You shouln't get more than 2-3 Meteor Fist phases, though.

Solo'ed him today as an Itemlevel 457 Ret.
His Meteor Fists still hit hard, so use defensive cooldown like bubble or devotion aura on it.
The rest is quite easy, if you move out of fire and burning breath.

Soloable as a 530 elemental shaman. Like most comments say, Meteor Fists hit pretty hard still, but no problem healing through them. Used Astral Shift on the first phase of Meteor Fists, but healed through another 2 with no problem. Fight took 2 minutes, 6 seconds.

Soloed in 25man as a Ilevel 498 WW Monk.
Keep moving, use healing as needed (it will be pretty frequent as the fight goes on), and use Touch of Karma and Invoke Xuen on cooldown. Save Fortifying brew for Meteor Fist if Touch of Karma is still on cooldown.

Easily solo'd today on my 494 blood DK. Little over two minutes, no extra healing needed, just keep kiting and save your anti-magic shell for the start of meteor fists. Make sure you pop it right away so it is reset by the time the next one comes around.
