The Ivory Cloud Serpent is obtained by using a Zan-Tien Lasso on the Ivory Cloud Serpent, which is a friendly rare NPC that occasionally flies fast around the Vale of Eternal Blossoms.
The Zan-Tien Lasso is a rare drop from Mogu enemies during the Empire assault on the Vale.
I found the Ivory Cloud Serpent during a Mogu assault.
It spawns high in the air -- approx 3 times the height of the trees and flies VERY fast.
You can use the lasso while mounted. Druids cannot in flight form.
All party members can use their Lasso but the time window is VERY short -- approx 10 seconds or so.

He spawned just barely above the serpents around 29 53. He was a lot smaller than Alani, maybe a third of the size at most.
you have to be very close for the lasso to work & you cant use it while moving but it does work mounted in the air.
my first cast failed because he was insanely fast, faster than my flying and he got out of range before it finished casting (was maybe about a 2 sec cast).
he zipped to the lower left corner of the map. I was able to head him off on the roof at 4, 61 because he started to circle a little there. I was finally close enough to use the lasso from just off the long side of that roof while he was on the peak of the roof (so maybe about 20 yds).
I was able to see and target him a good distance, from his spawn point around 29, 53 up to that roof at 4, 61 but my graphics settings are at a 10. Any further than that he disappeared from my view.
Hope some of this helps for when you camp him or are looking around for him.

Spawn coordinates are roughly 30.10,51.30 , above a clearing with a bonfire in the center. This is also in a spot clear of any beams from the Great Worm From Beyond, other than a very rare circumstance when one portals in nearby, but not close enough to aggro.
The height, at least for me, was below the average flying height of the various Great Worm From Beyond. Also about the same height at the peaks of the two large mountains to the south-east, one of which is just north of the entrance to the Rajani base.
To be fair, I didn't see it spawn. It took me a second or two to notice my target macro had targeted it, and another couple seconds to look around for it, since my lasso seemed to be out of range, as I was at the average flying height of the Great Worms. Only 7 out of our full raid group got it, as most of them were ABOVE the average flying height of the Great Worms.

The dragon is actually much tinier than you'd expect, smaller than the mount with a player model even. Make sure you're watching for it.

TIME
I spent about 3h waiting for him to spawn around 29 53. With no luck camping him, I started flying around spamming /target Ivory Cloud Serpent macro, finally targeted him. He flies around the corrupted area, the wall. He is super fast and flies on the same height as worms that slow you down. I recommend flying lower than him and when you overtaken him then go up and cast the lasso. You must be a little ahead as you cannot cast it while moving and he can easily fly too far.
After one player successfully casts the lasso, he slows down and others have approx 10s to capture him.
Good luck!

Caught him around 15, 70 after camping for about 1.5 hours this morning. he flies clockwise and spends some time noodling around above the roofs of the wall there. used Morahmeh's macro from another comment on this page. worked like a charm. I also added his ID to silver dragon which marks rares with the purple diamond which made him easier to keep an eye on.

This one for me did not even show up in my screen. I could /tar him, I actually got the mount, my brother had him show up on his screen, but it was like he was invisable for me. Damn annoying when he's out of range and you don't know which direction to run to.

Just got this mount. A few notes:
Spam the macro. I didn't get a RareScanner notification when it spawned. I only knew it spawned because of the macro.
/focus is your friend. The serpent spawned high, but with /focus I was able to get a dot to track on my minimap.
You can't use the lasso in druid flight form. You have to be on a flying mount or on the ground. I didn't test Sandstone Drake form.
It really is higher than you think -- and faster. Even if it's in range when you start the cast, it may be out of range by the time the cast goes off.
You *will* be high enough to get hit by the Great Worm's debuff, so be aware of your flight speed.
If you're at the spawn point, you can fly after it to the southwest to position yourself in its path after it makes a turn. This is how I managed to get in range and stay in range for the whole cast.
Good luck!

Spawns vaguely below where the Wyrms may or may not melee you and is usually gone in less than a second. Happy hunting, and expect to spend multiple attempts if you are a person who uses the bathroom, blinks, or sneezes.
<Edit: I would like to add that the comment instructing me to wait at the same height as the Gate of the Setting Sun was spot on, and I luckily got my mount on it's last spawn before the Mantid rollover.>

I just left about ten people hovering at 29,53 because I added this mount to SilverDragon and got the drums in my ears when he popped. No one else knew he'd spawned and I took off chasing him. Height of the Setting Sun gate is perfect, btw.
Interface > Addons > Mobs > type
163042
in the box and click OK. You'll get a standard audio/visual alert for "Unknown" when it finds him.
Have the macro posted above ready to spam when you're fairly close to him (mounted, not in druid form):
/tar Ivory Cloud Serpent
/cast Zan-Tien Lasso
And he's yours. Happy hunting.

Obliged to say I just got this mount, wanted to clear up a few things:
•
Flight height.
The serpent is
almost
the same level as the worms, but not quite. If you're at his spawn, it's approximately the horizon line of the mountain range behind Mistfall Village or the same height as the head of the mogu statue, more or less.
•
Duration post-lasso.
He definitely doesn't stay up for 10 seconds after the first tag, that's way too generous. I'd say more like 5 seconds. The MOMENT he spawned, I was in a group, a ton of macros popped at the same time, and he vanished shortly after. The first time I ever saw a dragon it despawned like 2-3 seconds after I first targeted it, presumably because somebody already tagged it beforehand.
•
Speed.
He does slow down if not stop completely after the first tag. Personally I saw him stop but maybe that's just because about 20-30 people were spamming macros at the same time and he bugged, idk. But the other time I saw him I could tell he moved slower than epic flying before he despawned, or at least enough to keep pace with him.
•
"Player cap."
No, there is not a limit on how many people can tag it contrary to what other people have speculated. I saw a solid 15 people manage to get the mount before it despawned. You just have to be alert for that
extremely
short window of time.
•
Stay calm, stay still!
In my panic once I saw he spawned I was moving around and pressed my macro several times in a row before I actually got the lasso off, no, my lasso did not disappear after the first couple of botched attempts, and the cast time was quick, like 2 seconds or less. Just make sure you stay STILL if you want a successful cast.
•
Get in close.
You have to be pretty close to the dragon to be able to cast it. The range isn't infinite, but it's decent. So if you're camping, you might just want to find that sweet spot in height, or maybe even find a group that'll tell you the height like I did, and then just keep spamming a /tar and /cast macro because the worm debuff won't matter in the end... UNLESS you're on a low pop server and don't have people waiting for the serpent to spawn, then you can probably get away with cutting it off on its clockwise route and snagging it. But you CAN see it from pretty far away, or above you.

Camped for this guy for about 3 hours, literally falling asleep in my chair for the past 30 minutes, coming to just enough to keep hitting the target/focus macro. Had the ID added to NPCScan (163042) and was hanging out over the bonfire at 30.1, 51.4 at the height of the Gate, where the worms don't seem to target you. There's one other person camping a little ways away, a Horde who was there before I was. NPCScan goes off and my toon starts saying she's too far away. I snap awake. Nothing's targeted and I don't see it, but NPCScan says he's been marked with a skull. My character continues to say she's too far away. The Horde isn't reacting to anything. I still don't see anything. The other comments all say he's small and moves fast, is he already out of range of vision? I wait, spamming the macro. Does he path? Will he come back here? Suddenly a target frame pops up and I see the serpent. He's halfway to the gate, heading to the roofs of the southern towers. I race towards him, still no reaction from the Horde. He seems to slow at the towers and I'm able to catch up. The macro is close enough to cast and it completes. I have a new mount and the serpent despawns in about 5 seconds.
From my perspective he's actually about the size of your average Tauren sized cloud serpent mount. He didn't seem to move terribly fast, but I have master flight unlocked. I'm guessing the model didn't load in right away and I wasn't in the right spot for the cast to connect, but I'm glad I didn't panic and try to guess at his path. I did mount it and go apologize to the Horde so he would know he could take a break, but he still seemed to be afk. Sorry dude.

I was sitting at the spawn point (around 29, 53) mindlessly spamming this macro when I got the mount. I never saw the mob, Silver Dragon never went off even though I manually added the ID, and the several other people waiting at the spawn had no reaction and were still there unmoving after I landed to learn the mount. (I felt rather bad about that) I keybound the macro and was just hitting it while watching a movie and heard a whip noise and then the clunk of something landing in my bag and there it was, I had the mount.

/cleartarget
/tar ivory cloud
/use Zan-Tien Lasso
Create the macro by typing "/m" into chat, copy and paste the above, drag the macro to a toolbar slot then use the keybindings interface to bind the macro to mouse wheel scroll up.
The first line is to untarget the Great Worm from Beyond NPCs. I got annoyed with always having them targeted so this let me easily clear it while spamming the macro.
Second line targets our new mount.
Third line will use the lasso but only if you aren't already channeling it.

so what you don't do is camp the spawn, after a very long time our white dragon friend spawned an shot off like a rocket, but our wormy friends in the sky slow you down too much to catch up. Just sit on the roof at 04 56 where he takes a breather before disappearing. You're welcome, make use of my pain.
Re-spawn was 2 1/2 hours, if you face south you'll see him coming. npc scan helps, but you'll have to add manually 163042, give it an annoying alarm or something to wake you up.

Not sure if it's mentioned before, but -
EASYEST way
to get the mount associated with this NPC is simply to to camp the spawnpoint
when assault in the zone switches from N'zoth or Mantid to Mogu.
NPC seems to always spawn within 1-2 minutes after the Mogu assault begins. Saves you hours of camping and spamming a button. That's how I got my mount last night. And I suggest everyone to do the same, granted they have the patience to wait for another rotation of assaults so we have Mogu assault again, which would be in 10 days I think (haven't done the math, someone correct me if I'm wrong.)
Happy mount hunting everyone!

Hi all,
Just got this mount so I will tell you how I did it. When the server is busy you'll inevitably get a group of 10-20 people sitting waiting, but I decided to do it when it was a lot quieter, in fact, there was only me there. I've read it has a 2-3 hour spawn time, but every time I've seen it (and unsuccessfully lasso it) it appears around 2hrs and 15mins.
SETUP
Firstly as everyone is saying create a macro, the below one will un-target anything you have already, target the Ivory Cloud Serpent and then use the
枬天拉索
. This worked perfectly for me.
#showtooltip item:174927
/stopmacro
/cleartarget
/tar Ivory Cloud Serpent
/use Zan-Tien Lasso
Secondly, I added NPCScan while this only has a 30 second refresh rate (and believe me it will have gone off in the distance then) when your macro targets the Ivory Cloud Serpent all the alarms will go off, when I was at the 2hr period I was spamming the macro and in my experience its just better to have the alarms going off as you can sort of switch off and miss that you've targeted it.
Make sure when you do it you add to the custom list... NPCs > Custom > Add 163042
LOCATION
I tried twice to follow other recommendations on how high to be and the exact co-ordinates but the biggest issue is the big worms and the speed reduction debuff that you get (up to 11 stocks which is a huge % reduction). If you are just slightly off then you can kiss good-bye to the serpent as you'll have no chance catching it up.
I was sat exactly at 30.06,53.97 I was just above the tree line so that I did not get the debuff and I was facing "The gate of the setting sun" dungeon, you'll see it on your map as the little blue circle. That way you'll see it flying away from you.
CAPTURE
Remember you can use the Zan-Tien Lasso whilst flying, but not whilst moving, so if you are going to use my method, its really important you follow the next steps and be in front of it so its flying towards you... also, remember you can't use it in Druid flight form, so best be mounted.
Once my macro locked onto Ivory Cloud Serpent my NPCScan went crazy, which made me feel so lucky i'd set it up because I wasn't really paying to much attention... when you've camped for a while you cant maintain 100% focus all the time so NPCScan is a must really... Because I couldn't see it but I knew the route that it took I immediately sped off to the golden gates to intercept it. I would say I was pretty much on top of the world boss when i saw it flying towards me, pressed my macro again and BAM, I had it !
I really hope this helps some of you - let me know if it does :)

Macro is a must, and then if you want my advice, wait until there's barely anyone on/around (I'm on WRA and finally caught it at 3am server time). If you can keep checking and make sure there's no one hanging around the spawn point multiple other comments mention, then you're probably good to wait up on the highest roof of the Gate of the Setting Sun, and watch for the cloud serpent to come from the southeast. It makes a turn once it gets to about the roof area, so you'll have time to get the cast off. There are no worms over in that area, either.

Hey! So, quick update as of 4-4-2020. The Ivory Cloud Serpent DOES in fact spawn at the very start of the Mogu Invasion - that is to say, within a minute or two of the Mantid Invasion ending. That said, I have a quick tip for anyone camping the spawn point in the hopes of getting it that way. A few guides I've seen have recommended that you just hover there in the time leading up to the serpent spawning. I wouldn't recommend this. It's difficult to position yourself directly on top of the spawn point, and the Zan Tien Lasso does NOT have a massive range. It's decent, but not big enough that you can just hover in the general area and hope to get it.
To that effect, you'll probably need to do a little bit of chasing when the serpent spawns. It spawns moving, it moves fast (at least 280% flying speed) and if you've been hovering up there for ten minutes, you'll have a dozen stacks of the Stench debuff. You'll be slow as molasses, and will NOT be able to chase. So I would strongly recommend staying low to avoid the debuff until seconds before the Mantid Invasion ends. (If anyone has reason to believe this isn't a good idea, please post it - it's always good to refine our understanding of this stuff.)
For those who are not aware, there is an in-game timer for each invasion. It can be found on the continent-wide map (pull up your map, right click once), and it times the invasion durations to the second. Just look for the very small orange eye over the Veil of Eternal Blossoms (also works for Uldum).
As an aside, if you miss the cloud serpent, you can assuage your frustrated self by trying for a few other mount drops in the zone, as every other rare in the zone seems to spawn at the invasion start, too. So try to grab Houndlord Ren (9,32), Anh-De the Loyal (34,68), Ha-Li (36,37) and/or Rei Lun (entrance at 22,24) if you miss your Ivory. Why be disappointed once when you can thwart your hopes for a whole bushel of mounts at the same time?

I found that I can camp at 29 54, about the height of the bell of the Gate of Setting Sun without the Great Worms zapping me ever. The Cloud Serpent itself spawned higher than that, I'd say about the height of the top of the Gate, a little to the southwest, maybe around 25 60. My Silver Dragon addon
did
pick it up (I had added the NPC ID earlier), before even my macro did I think. Then it was just a matter of flying up, intercepting it, and hitting the Lasso (not usable if you are moving). The respawn for me was pretty much exactly 3 hours after the previous one.

For hunters - the serpent will show up as a green/friendly Beast npc on your minimap.
If you hover just above the trees at 24, 62 - this will let you see her on your minimap on loops/spawns and the moment when she starts to turn, while being lowered than the worms so saving your speed.
She does spawn at roughly the same height as the worms.

Got mine today. It spawned about 10 minutes after the daily reset. There were 3 people camping the spawn point, but I took a chance and went a bit further along its path. I didn't see it spawn but one of the other players had whispered me, asking if I got it. Apparently, none of them reacted fast enough and I was able to catch it about 1/2 way around its path. Had a few missed attempts because the casting time in relation to the range really sucks. It kept flying just out of range before the cast finished. If you're lucky enough to lay eyes on him and not have any competition, your best bet is to fly ahead of it and cast when it's coming at you. Good luck!

Went through several spawns today... Here is the time between spawns for awareness
2 hours 40 minutes
2 hours
3 hours 50 minutes (Was closer to 3 hours 49 minutes)
Across other comments to date and speaking to other people waiting no one has said they have waited over 4 hours. 2 hours seems to be the minimum between spawns as I directly observed that and have not had anyone else observe less so far (Please comment below if you have).
Tips from other comments that work well
Sitting in vicinity of the spawn is fine but try to sit over the camp fire that is below you. Around 29 51.
You should be just out of range below the worms and it will spawn a bit above you. You don't have to get stacks if you do not want to
Only one worm will target you there and you can sit just a bit below where the mount will spawn
Get NPC Scan and add the NPC manually and turn sounds on to alert you.
NPC is 163042 as others have said.
NPC Scan should go off 3-5 seconds BEFORE it spawns so you can move forward and be on top of it.
You have about 5 seconds after the first person successfully loots it to also loot it before despawn.
The simple version of the macro that I used.
/tar Ivory Cloud Serpent
/use Zan-Tien Lasso

It does not fly as high as other comments might claim. I was able to catch at height lower than the one of the gate, (near the same height as the three bells on it). You can see the serpent clearly from the floor as its size is the same as a normal mount.
I was able to catch spamming a macro written on another comment, (the one with nochanneling), near 28.32, 52,87.
Hopefully this helps as I got really confused by the height... hehe

a) Someone mentioned that the Ivory Cloud Serpent heads to the rooftop at 5.0, 55.0 and takes a small breather there.
b) Someone mentioned it spawns about every 2.5hrs.
Based on this info (after camping it's actual spawn point for about one hour with no result), I headed to that rooftop and sat there. My clock was about to strike the hour and I figured it'd take a minute or two for it to reach the roof after spawning. Well, to my surprise, it arrived at 21:05 on the dot, flew to the right side of the roof, glided to the centre and literally stopped dead for about 1-2 seconds, giving me all the time in the world to use the lasso with nobody in sight.
Once captured, it remained for about 3-5 more seconds before despawning, so I figure that a bunch of people spamming a macro could capture it in unison before it disappears entirely.
Can't complain - the lasso dropped for me during invasion, looked it up, and had the mount within 1-2hrs. I thoroughly recommend camping on the roof at the above-mentioned co-ordinates rather than waiting at its spawn point just to see it speed off and force you to chase it through the worms.

Not sure if others have found the same, but the co-ordinates 27.39 50.84 arnen't close to where he appears to spawn.
If you camp the space between the mountain and the tower at 16.79, 75.20 and just over tower height, he will come straight past you.
I missed his first pass but got him at 1620 on 06/08/20.

Just got it! Silver Dragon was immensely helpful, be sure to add it, custom ID is 163042. The sound alert is crucial, as is the icon it puts on the target.
Also, be sure to use the Tracking function of your minimap, to track your TARGET. So when you target the serpent, it will show you on the minimap.
Probably the optimal coordinates to wait at are 28.11, 54.53. If you look straight down, you will be south-west of the bonfire, just outside the circle of tents / etc.
Optimal altitude is about 20 yards below the great serpents. If you look directly west towards the gate with the 3 bells, you will be at the height of the roof.
The serpents WILL be applying their debuff to you. It will do minor damage, and also cause you to target them. It is important that your macro also clears target.
The serpent spawned perhaps slightly east / north-east of the coordinates, approximately above the bonfire, and flew towards our group. It lasted about 5 seconds after the first lasso.
Do not wait directly above the bonfire. You want to be south-west of it, because it will be flying south-west. Better to be south-west and near the edge of your lasso range, so you will have the most opportunity to capture it.
Here is the macro I used:
/cleartarget
/tar ivory cloud
/use Zan-Tien Lasso

Make sure to be in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms when doing this, as some have reported that the quest fails or the item disappears if you phase
So, all you need to do it:
1: Be in War Mode
2: Kill 10 players of the opposite faction without dying
3: This will give you the quest:
恩佐斯的仆从
for Alliance, and
恩佐斯的仆从
for Horde
4: Accept the quest and receive

Ones you have accepted the quest, make your way to the peak of the gate @ 4.13, 56.93

took about 2 and half hours to spawn after server reset, I was waiting just above the treeline so the Great Worms didn't debuff me. serpent spawned on top of me, was out of range and started flying fast towards the gate. I had to fly after it, dodged the Great Worms so I wouldn't get my flight speed reducted, and was able to catch up with it quite easily. because of his fast flight speed I missed the cast few times, before I flew near enough so I had enough time for the cast to finish.

Anyone know if there is any way to tame this as a hunter without the sliver of n'zoth toy? I barely did any PvP in BFA and I didnt even know the toy existed until a couple of days ago. I've been looking for people to PvP with in BFA areas but honestly all the areas clear of anyone aside from NPC's. If not then thats a real shame as I was really looking forward to taming it and I think it's one of the most beautiful mounts/pets in the game.

Can someone for the love of god explain to me why I need the sliver of n'zoth to tame this beast on my hunter? why is it friendly? its a rare spawn not a flight path mount.

Maybe I was incredibly lucky, but this is what I did today, first attempt ever:
1. I went to one of the other comments' waypoint at 30.10, 51.30, pretty high up, about level with the big zone gate (Gate of the Setting Sun)
2. I looked around saw a little pink dragon! I couldn't believe my eyes.
3. I literally followed the dragon, as it seemed my mount was a bit faster. I lost sight of it for 2 seconds, because some assault objective phased in
4. I followed it, hoping for a landing spot
5. It got near the roof of the Gate of the Setting Sun
6. I immediately dismounted on the roof at /way 3.9, 60.0 and pressed the macro
As for the Lasso, I was actually trying for Rei Lun since it had spawned late at night, and after killing all the mogu mobs around Rei Lun twice over, the Lasso dropped. (So maybe Rei Lun and the pink dragon were both up because the server is quite empty at night now?)
So thanks for all the great tips on both dragons, and wish everyone good luck hunting.

I got him today at 3:44pm server time. Spawn time was about 2 and a half hours. Macro worked perfectly. I wouldn't have been fast enough otherwise.

Spent 3 hours from servers time 13.30 doing the macro at the coords below. Zilch.

I had my
枬天拉索
drop last week and have been awaiting a Mogu invasion to pop up so
皎白云端翔龙
would spawn.
A Little Tip I've Not Seen Yet On Here!
If you know a Mogu invasion is due, wait till the current invasion is almost over and go to the spawn location (/way 26.8, 55.1)
As soon as it pops,
皎白云端翔龙
will spawn straight away - no needing to wait.
This is what I did today, spammed my macro as soon as the previous invasion was <1minute and as soon as it swapped to the Mogu Invasion - The serpent spawned, and I captured her. So much easier than waiting around and spamming macros for hours waiting for a spawn.
Hopefully this helps make someone's day a little easier!

stolen from youtube:
To clear up some confusion. There are three types of invasions that happen in the Vale, the N'zoth Invasion which lasts a week -
https://zamimg.cuckhead.com/uploads/screenshots/normal/896254.jpg
the Mogu invasion which is just over 3 days -
https://zamimg.cuckhead.com/uploads/screenshots/normal/897195.jpg
and the Mantid invasion which also lasts just over 3 days
https://zamimg.cuckhead.com/uploads/screenshots/normal/896263.jpg
the Lasso can be gotten during any invasion. However the ivory cloud serpent only spawns just a Mogu invasion, looking for it at any other time will be a waste of your time. You can mouse over the eyeball on your map thats on Vale to see the time left of the current invasion.
So don't be like me and wait for it outside of the Mogu Invasion
