Well, 363 intellect equals 363 spell power and about 0,5% spell crit if I'm not mistaken. About the mastery rating, according to EJ, 179 mastery rating provides a dps output equal to 179 critical rating or 129 haste, all these 3 values relating to 1% increased crit chance. That said, this trinket proc provides the same dps output as would 12,17% crit. Providing the internal cooldown is inexistant or near 45 seconds and usual on WotLK gear, this won't be something to drop off. Nonetheless, mastery is that stat which needs to account the class and in many cases depends much on the player's skill.

This trinket has to be one of the best, if not THE best trinket in the new raids available to Elemental Shaman in the game. Mainly because if the item keeps going as it is now, it will have no internal CD.

Im sure its great for other classes, but our free extra spell for 75% of the normal spell's damage and it including Lava Burst, it makes that even more so. I dont know how well it would work for any other classes or builds, so anyone else can elaborate on the rest.

Actually, I think this is one of the best, if not the best, trinkets for a Shadow Priest, because of how our mastery works.
If it's anything like WotLK, after we gain Empowered Shadow, we'll get a very hot bonus on our Shadow Word: Pain for the entire fight since it will get refreshed by Mind Flay, and, again, if nothing has changed with Cata, percentage buffs on dots are the same as long as the dot gets refreshed. And of course, great on all other dots.
Besides, you can also consume your shadow orbs right before the end of the buff to gain 15 more seconds of high damage dots after the actual mastery buff ended.
Oh yeah, and the intellect is just more sugar on this sweet trinket.

By the way, it's, for almost the same reasons, really powerful for affliction warlock and their Corruption.

In response to Beltane, do you or anyone else know if the increase to mastery(in this case fire dot dmg) will last through the entire combustion if you hit combustion with 1 sec left on Revelation(name of the proc). Or will the increase in fire dot dmg drop off as soon as the proc drops off? This questions also applies to any class with dots.

Since mastery scales better with better gear, this trinket is now fairly amazing for PvP frost mages.

2178 mastery rating is something amazing like a 31% damage boost to frozen targets on top of what already is huge damage with gear at this level. This means we can get incredible shatters now even on targets with stacked resil
