I havent been on the PTR to test yet, but one would assume that Mixology would effect this the same as other flasks. Not sure about the percentages or final values yet, as they are buffing mixology with 3.2 as well. So, a free (after creation), 2 hour duration, of 47SP, 80AP, or 40Stren (multiplied by whatever value they give to them via mixology)... seems really good. Not your best option for serious raids, but a nice option for heroics, pug raids, and pvp situations. Cant wait to make mine.

While I agree with you that it's not likely to be affected by mixology...
You receive an increased effect and duration when you drink any
elixir
or flask you are able to make.
Mixology doesn't just work on flasks.

Looks like they're already balanced without mixology.
But people of the non-alchemy profession can still use a flask as well as alchemists, so enchanters, for instance get the same benefit from their ring enchants as the would from this flask, WITH the added bonus of being able to use a regular flask as well.

This is not as good as other professions' passive bonus because you have to remember to CLICK on the flask every time it runs out.... it adds up! Time is money friend!
On a more serious note, unlike the Fish Feast, the tooltip reads "or", not "and", to prevent double/triple dipping from AP, Str, and spellpower. Chances are, the highest stat will be chosen, (as opposed to what class you are), to prevent holy paladins from getting Str.

With 3.2 you receiving an additional buff of +16 AP with Mixology. It's the same like enchanting.
From a 180AP Flask you gain with mixology 262 AP!
+64AP since 3.0
+82AP with 3.2
In addition with this you become a arenaflask with 80AP which is exactly the same like enchanters got +40AP each ring.
+ 2H duration
If nothing gets changed until 3.2 released it will the best profession for raiding. On the second place is jewelcrafting (place 2 because of the prismatic nerf)

Well, this flask is BoP. A valid excuse for other flasks though.

Whilst the flask itself is a pure +47 SP/+40 STR or +80 AP bonus, keep in mind that alchemists can no longer use
Endless Mana Potion
/
Endless Healing Potion
in arena matches. The endless potions will, however, get a decent buff to increase their value outside of the arenas - but we were talking purely arena balancing :)
When Patch 3.2.0 hits live realms, the recipe for
Flask of the North
can be bought from your faction's
Officer Accessories Quartermaster
for a yet unknown amount of honor points (only on the PTR's can you learn the recipe from the profession trainer.)
As far as known,
when consumed,
when used
, it will automatically grant you either SP, AP or Strength, depending on certain criteria to make sure you get the desired stat. Regarding AP versus Strength: logic dictates that if your class gains 2 AP for 1 Strength - you get +40 STR - if your class gains 1 AP per Strength, then you'll gain 80 AP.
My guess is that the +40 STR will not benefit from multiplier buffs such as
Blessing of Kings
to preserve equality amongst classes.

Regular flasks cannot be used inside of the arena.
This flask is to balance the fact that Alchemist's get no profession bonuses inside the arena, and that is all.
It is very likely that this flask will NOT be affected by Mixology.
Aside from the fact that it's a cheap flask to drink while meandering the world, Alchemists inside raids will still use regular flasks.
This flask seems strictly arena-based.

I apologize ahead of time for this wall of text, just want to clear up why this was made and why it does not get the
Mixology
buff to anyone who may not yet understand.
The idea behind this flask is to basically give alchemists the same bonus as every other profession gets as a passive.
For example, enchanters get
Enchant Ring - Assault
, and assuming they put it on both rings they get an 80 AP bonus all the time. This flask gives 80 AP and is never consumed so it is the same bonus and you only need to pay for it once. This flask is not affected by
Mixology
because that would break the balance greatly in the favor of the alchemist ( I am an alchemist for the record :P ) giving a greater advantage to us is the arena.
In raids and such clearly enchanters still have their ring enchants AND can drink flasks while we can't use both at the same time, which is why we have
Mixology
.
Flask of Endless Rage
gives 180 AP, and with
Mixology
in 3.2 the bonus becomes 260 AP. In short
Mixology
is our passive raid bonus, giving us the same increase in stats as the corresponding equivalent in other professions ( Assuming they have one, for example only jewelcrafting and alchemy have a spirit bonus item ) while allowing us to maintain flexibility. An enchanter can't enchant his rings with haste, and a leather worker doesn't have a fur lining for hit rating, an alchemist on the other hand can drink potions that give any range of these skills AND can mix combos for some interesting choices while retaining the option to change these bonuses at any time ( only downside is elixirs don't persist through death, but they are are quite inexpensive if you also have herbalism ).
Blizzard has been working to balance the primary professions as much as possible, and has come very close for most of them. In fact from my research the only professions that are not in line ( Jewelcrafting and Tailoring ) are actually more powerful when compared to the rest. I did not compare them to engineering however because the bonuses gained from it are of a much more subjective value and almost impossible to quantify directly. ( Also I want to tell all JC to stop complaining about the change in 3.2, gems losing prismatic quality is hardly reason to declare jewelcrafting as completely destroyed, your bonus is actually a little higher then most and is the highest of the fixed stat bonuses XD )

As you can see, the overall balance from profession only bonuses are actually quite balanced, I also have the numbers from many other stats ( SP, agility, strength, ect ), though it is mostly only the offensive based stats that are factored in on the profession balance, with things such as stamina stacking being more powerful in other professions. It is also important to note that this is just comparing the direct passive bonuses ( alchemy's isn't technically passive ). There are other bonuses to take into account such as the alchemists endless healing and mana potions which are also getting a nice 3.2 buff/nerf.
Endless Healing Potion
Old Value: 1680 - 2160 usable in arena
New Value: 1500 - 2500 not usable in arena
Endless Mana Potion
Old Value: 400 - 600 usable in arena
New Value: 1800 - 3000 not usable in arena
Blizzard has balanced pretty good in my opinion, and I think I am just about at my 7500 character limit for one post >.>
Once again sorry for the wall

These flasks *are smart*, meaning they do seem to be able to correctly buff various specs/classes with the appropriate stat.
Given that a similar mechanic is already in the game (
DMC:Geatness
), my theory is that the flask functions exactly the same way but with a slightly different effect, aka:
If your highest stat is Strength, you obviously get Strength.
If your highest stat is Agility, you receive the attack power boost.
If your highest stat is Intellect (or Spirit), you gain the spell power buff.
Edit: it does seem to be purely bases on the statistics, rather than having to delve into what spec you are. My test used a ret/holy paladin and a feral/boomkin druid. Switching between specs alone did not change the buff received, but switching gear sets did. My pally got spellpower in his holy gear (intellect highest stat) and strength in ret gear, while the druid (not mine, but also an alchemist) buffed spellpower in boomkin gear and attack power in her feral set (higher agility).

They should add a 60 stam component to this because this really is useless for tanks.

When I first made had the option to make this flask, I was really reluctant to make it. I didn't really want to waste the 4 Frost Lotus for fairly weak bonuses, even if it was endless. However, after I finally DID make it, I never regretted it again. I never have to waste any Flask of the Frost Wyrm's for heroics or soloing any more! Every alchemist should make one of these, it's definitely worth it!

I have a question,
Im retri paladin atm and im wondering if Flask of the North with +40 str is better than 260 AP in 25man?
It might seem stupid but im not sure whats the correct answe :)
Thank you

I just naturally assumed this would increase your relevant stat, but apparently not. I was healing (holy pally, holy gear, etc), chugged one down and got +40 str. Seems to randomly choose SP or Str for me. Need to check the buff more carefully in future.

As a shaman you get spell/ap.
All you need.
Buff lasts 1 hour.
You can use the flask as many times as you want, (has no CD) till you get the desired buff.
After an hour, simply use the flask again
Note:
Does not fade.
Does not have a CD when used out of combat
Lasts 1 hour
Spam the flask till you get the buff you need.
Worth the minor mats needed..

I just made one of these on my rogue and it increased my AP by 84 not 80. I'm not sure why yet, I'll keep digging throu my talents and other forums to see if I can find anything about this.
EDIT:
Savage Combat
is what increased it for me, so my mystery is solved. :)

Why use a Flask or Elixirs for Heroics, BGs, or Soloing? or for Raids you are overgeared for?
Not everyone is overgeared. I just dusted off my shammy after a year long break, this flask is invaluable for healing while I gear her up.

>>>>> WARRIORS >>>> DEATH KNIGHTS >>>> PALADINS >>>>> DRUIDS >>>> LOOK HERE, HEY, YOU, YES YOU, LOOK HERE :
If you are a Druid, Death Knight, Warrior or Paladin you
CANNOT
get the attack power buff from this item.
The strength buff, for those classes, is far better than the attack power one, due to the fact that strength is thier primary stat. There is NO point in using +80 attack power as your buff if you're a strength based class, when you could have +40 strength. +40 strength will give you +80 attack power and MORE because you get 2 points of attack power for every point of strength you have ( but not the other way around ).
You're not bugged, the game is infact making sure you dont waste the buff with a lesser stat increase.

The profession bonus is the same (or very close) to all other professions Datar which all provide roughly 47 spell power, 80 attack power or 40 strength.
When an alchemist uses a proper flask, they get an increased passive bonus through being an alchemist that once again makes the profession equal to other professions + flask.
In short -
flask of the north = other profession bonuses
raiding flask for alchemist = other profession bonuses + raiding flask
Try doing bit more research if your going to make comments next time. You got it wrong and might mislead people.

I don't understand how this brings Alchemy in line with other professions. It occupies both Elixir types, so we can't use any other elixirs with it.
So other professions get their bonus such as the extra gem slots or the enchants, but they can also use flasks. So we get the bonus from this flask, and they get a bonus from a flask in addition to their own profession bonuses.
How exactly does this balance anything?
评论来自
Deevan
As of 4.0.1 this Flask now gives Intellect, Strength or Agility based on your class and spec. Ex) As a feral druid, you cannot get anything but the Agility buff. If you dual spec into restoration or balance, you get the Intellect buff only. (No more multiple clicks for hybrids, it seems.)

This item has no level requirement. You can use it as soon as you can learn it. (level 65, cause you can learn grand master alchemy at that level)

I'm pretty sure this is no longer in game as of the 5.0.4 patch. My alchemist had one in the bank and that slot was empty upon logging in. The recipe is also not in my alchemy tab now. In my mail were two lower level flasks (I lost my Cataclysm flask as well) that gave +80 to the same stats, just like the Cataclysm one did. The other two flask recipes were apparently phased out and replaced with the one you can make at 300 alchemy.
