Glyph of Blood Boil
(can't link straight to the debuff)
Pros:
Potentially AoE slow.
30-yard range.
Snare is not dispellable.
Cons:
Reduces damage of Blood Boil. (Negligible.)
Snare is rather short at 5 seconds.
Must have a disease on the target to snare them.
Costs a Blood Rune for mediocre damage and a short snare.
Despite its cons, I think this Glyph is a worthwhile PvP Glyph. The only two snares currently in the Death Knight arsenal are both talented:
Desecration
and
Chillblains
. Desecration only snares targets inside its radius and the snare from Chillblains is dispellable, so for Unholy and Frost Death Knights the Blood Boil snare shores up a weakness in their primary means of not getting kited -- range for the Unholy DK, undispellable for the Frost one. These two specs are also the most able to burn a Blood Rune for non-DPS purposes as most of theirs comes from U, F, or UF. Unholy even gets to turn the Blood Rune into a Death Rune via
Reaping
.
Ironically, Blood is both the spec least able to spare a Blood Rune for non-DPS purposes and also the spec without a snare of its own.

I don't really think full blood is going to see nearly as much use as the other specs of DK since they can actually gain the two strongest abilities of the blood spec by only speccing 21 points in, Rune Tap, and Mark of Blood, after that, staying as blood spec simply pushes you into a role where your damage compared to any other spec of DK is highly mitigated, and without the extra tricks that other specs bring since they aren't require to go any higher because of the incredibly ideal placement of the two previously mentioned Talents.
First off I count 6 sentances in that paragraph with 1 sentance.
Secondly, you are right that our damage is mitigated by armor, but our damage is still comparable.
As far as tricks go, we only have to use 1 blood rune for our hardest hitting attack. This means we can use a frost rune for chains of ice without having to worry about saving frost runes for our hardest hitting move. Frost and Unholy specs have to save up frost runes for Obliterate or Scourge Strike. The more they have to snare, the more dps they lose. We also get the hardest hitting Death Strike when we put 2 points into Vicious Strikes. None of the other specs can heal quite as much as us. Rule number 1 from the Elitist Jerks DPS Compendium for Death Knights is "Don't Die, you do 0 damage if you are dead!"
I am not saying blood is best go respec, far from it. I am just saying that we have tricks, we attack very hard to overcome mitigation by armor, and please use more than 1 period.

The effect won't be applied if the target is affected by Chains of Ice. Casting Chains of Ice on a target affected by this will cause Chains to override the effect. Icy Clutch, the chill effect from Frost Fever, will also override this and prevent it from applying.

With the new changes to Death Knights in 3.0.8 - specifically the buffs to tanking as Blood spec, I can see some PvE use of this glyph now. There are a fair few fights (and trash packs) in the raids at the moment that require a bit of aoe-kiting, preferably by a tank - Gluth and his zombie adds are an example of this.
Whilst the Unholy tree has Desecration, and Frost has Chillblains/Hungering Cold to deal with AoE-Crowd Control situations, Blood has been pretty lacking. Whislt this glyph on its own isnt going to put Blood right up onto a par with the other trees, it certainly gives an option in this area for a Blood DK-tank to use when the situation calls for some AoE-CC.

After a few hours of BG/Arena testing, I've come to the conclusion that this is a
must have
for any Unholy PvP spec.
I find that once engaged in combat, it's often hard to get off two Blood Strikes after applying your diseases— simply because the enemy has moved out of Desecration and is now 5+ yards ahaid of you.
Coupled with the fact that you want to use blood runes a.s.a.p. to be able to use another Scourge Strike down the road... you're not 'wasting' a blood rune, so much as disposing of it as quickly as possible.
Blood Boil effects all diseased targets within 30 yards, meaning you can cast it on that mage who has just blinked 15 yards away.
5 Seconds of 30% snare is easily enough time to get back into melee range (you are in unholy presence, right?).

This Glyph is not a good pick for PvP. The main reason is that you do have alternate snare methods that do not require the expenditure of a rune. Even as Unholy, Blood Strike will make up a large chunk of your damage in PvP situations, especially arena.
Using a rune to do little/no damage and not apply any diseases could have very limited use in arenas, but not enough to outweigh some of the more powerful PvP glyphs out there.
As an Unholy Arena DK, you're probably looking at the following:
Glyph of Death and Decay
Glyph of Scourge Strike
Depending on your spec, you will also probably want one or more of these:
Glyph of Blood Strike
Glyph of Rune Tap
Glyph of Plague Strike
It will depend on your playstyle and talent selections within the basic Blood/Unholy Arena framework, but you almost certainly don't have room for this Glyph, even if you're a scribe.

The poster above me is wrong.
We do not have any snares that do not require the expenditure of a rune.
As an unholy death knight blood runes are the ones we usually want to get rid of, we need U F runes to do our strongest attack.

Problem that I've found with this glyph is that the slow is a mere 30%, while
Hamstring
is 50%,
Crippling Poison
is 70%,
Wing Clip
is is 50%, etc, the list goes on and on. So what I'm trying to say here is that you'll pretty much
always
have a snare on you greater than the 30% you put on enemies with this, so it still won't be enough to get back into melee range.

Good for Frost PvP.
IT-BB is now a perfect slowing combo:
- both abilities deal damage
- you save frost rune, apply FF and convert blood rune to death rune (assuming you have blood of the north).

This
is the exact Slowing-debuff that this Glyph causes.
It has become a really great PvP-Glyph since it first showed up (the glyph used to drastically reduce BBs damage and this slow was only 30%).
Why?
-
50% physical Debuff Slow
- Cannot be dispelled as easy as all of our other Slows. (Only Trinket, Hand of Freedom and very few other Abilitys can dispell physical debuffs)
-
Automatically hits every diseased Target in 30 meter range.
This, combined with cooldownless Pestilence is indeed great. If the enemy's are close to each other drop one Pestilence and afterwards slow everone of them freely.

BB reactivates as a Death Rune for Unholy
(and does quite some damage due to being specced UH).
- Shares none of the sucky penalties that all of our other Slows have. (Desecration being a poor copy of a Frost Trap with low radius that is procced off an ability we use every 18 seconds, Chillblains being easily dispellable and only slowing by a little amount and Chains of Ice being dispellable and pretty ineffective after the first 5 seconds)
- Even though 5 seconds duration seems "weak" at first, it
can easily be kept up on the enemy
.
- This Glyph gives you a reason to
completely replace BloodStrike with Bloodboil
as unholy, giving you the advantage of having a
greater overall combat Range
, and the fact that
BB ignores LoS
makes you able to
interrupt any drinking/evocationing attempt
as long as said target is diseased.
So, this Glyph is a huge help for PvP.
I personally will be using this as soon as I get my Hands on a damned 200+ DPS weapon and can respec to PvPing.
Together with Unholy Aura staying at my enemy's Ass will no longer be any problem (Yes, using the Aura for the speed boost and staying with Blood Presence - or Frost Presence if focused - is definitely better then saving 2 talent points and having to stay in the useless Unholy Presence).
Short:
- This Glyph is awesome for Unholy.
- Blood/Frost Presence + Unholy Aura >>>> Unholy Presence + no Aura (Strange that so many people can't understand that)

Just a side note to this too:
What u wrote was mostly true, but as u hopefully know... diseases can be dispelled too.. no disease= no slowing
Its not replacing Blood strike... just gives a situational snare. If u want to hit hard and blood runes are up, i would hit with blood strike.

I really would not call unholy presence useless even if u have unholy aura...
Unholy presence is burst damage.. blood presence hits harder, but the global CD is longer, therefore, lower burst damage...
Also blood boil slowing takes 2 runes to activate (1 to apply disease, 1 to activate blood boil)

I honestly feel stupid that I only just found out what this glyph does... Finally a way to keep on top of stupid priests that cant just dispel this and I don't have use so many frost runes anymore... Man for PvP this is the ultimate glyph and it actually makes blood boil a very good spell for PvP. In so many ways...

Is anyone aware if they plan on changing Glyph of Blood Boil and adding Glyph of Heart Strike, or are they just making Glyph of HS a straight replacement? With the new, much higher damage BB will be doing, I would expect to see a generic "+20% damage increase" glyph for the spell, but it wouldn't be at all surprised if they didn't include it.

The Glyph of Blood Boil as we know it is being removed completely, with this as its replacement. However, since people already have Glyphs of Blood Boil armed in their toons, they can't straight up remove it. Instead, anyone who has the Glyph of Blood Boil on their toons will take up in 3.1 with this new "Glyph of Heart Strike" on their toons.
The fact that it's still called Glyph of Blood Boil is indicative of how they replaced it by changing the base item itself, instead of removing one old item and creating a new one.

Does the snare from this glyph also "activate" the bonus damage from
Glyph of Blood Strike
?
I understand that the bonus damage from Glyph of Blood Strike also increases damage on Heart Strike. If the two glyphs synergise, that would mean bonus 20% damage on your second Heart Strike (or even the first one if the snare is applied before damage calculations).
Come to think of it, I'll give this a try right now. Will post back results...

There is a few, rare time when not having the damage part of unholy frenzy rolling is a god sent gift. I know my Brother killed himself on

when the boss lowers the health of everyone in the figth to 1 health. He kept dying until we checked what killed him. No unholy frenzy for him that fight.

In Mists of Pandaria this glyph has changed.
Old: Glyph of Heart Strike - Increases the damage of your Heart Strike ability by 30%.
New: Glyph of Unholy Frenzy - Causes your Unholy Frenzy to no longer deal damage to the affected target.
