pretty much the mandatory tankadin glyph, for avenger's shield can deside it wants to pull 2 other groups instead of your targeted group, this is basicly acting as the gun a warrior might use to pull a group

So. that 2.6k crit i got on a test dummy would have been 5.2k crit, which would have been ~9.9k instant threat? ^^
Personally, with PvP being quite a big part of my play too, i might end up NOT glyphing for this. Think 3 players chasing you down in WSG. Is it not better to hit all of them than having to target the one that's most likely to catch you?
For PvE, i'll admit it's even more threat that it is already, and being instant cast, it's now something we WANT to work into the rotation every time it's off CD. The increased duration on the daze effect is quite handy too, even if it only works against trash.

Definitely one for the raiding Protection Paladins, where you only want to pull one mob.
I can see it being an irritation to switch between a single mob and multi-mob Avenger Shield. Nice glyph, but the effect could've been implemented better.

ATTENTION!
This is my argument against the use of this glyph. Correct me if and when I have not clearly and logically reasoned. If you find no fault and agree, please say so. Enjoy. :)
Thesis: The Glyph of Avenger’s Shield is useless for a Protection Paladin, due to its detrimental effect on a key multi-target, aggro-holding, pulling ability.
Firstly, let’s clarify something: a tanking paladin’s ‘forte’ is mob tanking. Their primary aggro-holding abilities are designed to hit multiple targets (Holy Shield, Avenger’s Shield, Hammer of Righteousness and Consecration), and are more efficient when used this way (as opposed to on a single target, i.e. a boss).
Consider this situation:
You are in an instance. As the ‘tankadin’, you are to tank a mob of three units (let’s say melee class). Using normal Avenger’s Shield, you hit all three targets for 900 holy damage (about what my tankadin does atm) and daze them. The mob reaches you as you cast Consecration, Holy Shield then Hammer of Righteousness in quick succession, maintaining your threat lead. DPS unleashes its fury, and, with you keeping all aggro, the mob is easily subdued. All can agree this is a desired outcome, and the goal of every pull.
Same situation, but tankadin has the glyph. Now this is going to involve a noob mage, for argument’s sake, but if everyone is acutely aware of their threat, this alternative result can be avoided. You cast AS at one of three targets. Hits for about 1800 holy. Target is dazed, other two run straight for you. Mage frostbolts/pyroblasts/whatever on an undamaged target and pulls aggro. You immediately run to their aid, dropping only perhaps a Consecration in your haste. Mage is running around, avoiding their target, until you taunt it off. Meanwhile, you’ve had two other targets running after you, one you’ve barely damaged. Long(er) story short, either DPS has to pull back on the targets you have less threat with, or they could pull aggro, risking the whole party’s lives. Keep in mind the healer, who could pull aggro off you, due to their healing threat.
See the problem?
Now before you type angry messages of “But aggro-loss could’ve happened with a noob mage in scenario one!”, hear me out. Yes – aggro-loss could have occurred in Scenario One, However, it would be less likely, as tank would have damage threat on all three targets, thereby reducing chance of losing aggro. The mage does not pull – no problem; mage pulls – aggro shouldn’t be AS hard to pick up, even without Righteous Defence, as tank has already established an amount of threat. Even if tank, in their haste to save that mage’s arse, does not damage the other two targets, tank can, and probably will, still be holding aggro, unless DPS creates higher threat, which either they hopefully won’t (yes, hopefully you don’t have >1 noob :P), or you could pick up again with a few quick spells.
Basically, what I’m trying to show is that in a given situation, it is probably easier and safer to have aggro on all three targets of a mob, as opposed to just one.
However, what if there are more targets?
I’ll be quick this time. Six targets, melee class. Pulled with normal AS, rest picked up with Consecrate, Holy Shield and Hammer of Righteousness. DPS does its job, and everyone lives.
Same mob. Pulled with glyphed AS. I’ll be dramatic this time – more fun. :P
Tankadin frantically tries to hold aggro, throwing down spells. DPS pulled aggro on target as it was running to tank. Tank taunts target. Healer has been keeping up tank, gains threat of a target (or two :S), and suffers some damage before tanks saves their arse. All this time, tank was hardly doing damage, besides Consecration and maybe HS.
Any more threat changes, and your party faces dire risk of wipe. Not fun!

I actually keep a pack of these on hand to replace my
Glyph of Hammer of the Righteous
for main tank encounters. It may be expensive, but when your warlocks are ripping your meters hard with 10k+ dps, you'll be glad you did this.

talent.

A protection paladin does not take this glyph for threat generation because only the most absolute epic fail pally tank won't be able to hold threat on a single target. For someone that pathetic, this glyph won't amount to a hill of beans--they'd be much better off using the
Glyph of Reroll
.
In actuality, Glyph of Focused Shield is far better suited for PvP purposes (especially dueling).

Because of the new Glyph functionalities (being able to remove and reuse them at will, with only one cheap reagent) it is highly recommended that Protection PvE paladins use this glyph for single-target bosses (such as Saurfang) and unglyph it for the rest.
Think of it this way: pre-4.0.1, there were basically 2 "threat" glyphs you could've gotten for your third slot - Hammer of the Righteous and Judgment. Glyphing AS is equivalent to glyphing Judgment, and unglyphing it is equivalent to glyphing HotR.
Basically, every good Paladin tank should carry around a stack of Vanishing Powder (every class should, really) and use it almost on a fight-to-fight basis, with how cheap the reagents are.

I don't think your scenario is "extremely common" at all. In fact, I think it's extremely
un
common for a protection paladin to lose threat within mere seconds of starting a fight as you describe. Honestly, out of the 1,000+ dungeons/raids I've done with a protection paladin as the tank, I don't recall ever seeing the paladin tank lose agro immediately after properly pulling a boss unless they forgot to turn on Righteous Fury or some other terrible fault all on their part. When they can use Divine Plea before pulling to fill their holy power, attack a single raid boss with an un-glyphed Avenger's Shield followed by a full-powered Shield of the Righteous both fueld by Avenging Wrath, they're not going to lose threat a second later. Period.

This Glyph has its ups and downs, depending from person to person, I use the glyph for single target pulls, while using other abilities for groups like Hammer of The Righteous & Consecration to name a few. The only time I would say this glyph didn't help is during the first boss encounter in the Frost wing of ICC. Other then that, I like this glyph.

this glyph is a copy of Strangulate.
I'll explain. There a lot of situations, when there is a 5 mobs in a pack, 2 of them can be cc'ed, but wizards can not be. (example: stonecore Millhouse Manastorm)
Now, how should I pull him? If i throw shield - I'll break cc on other mobs. I have to ask dps to interrupt him, so he'll run close, and I intercept him, but it is tricky sometimes and U have to rely on some1.

Are you guys daft? This is obviously a pvp glyph, there's certainly better glyphs for pve. Works like burst damage in battlegrounds, where focusing one target is more important.

All of you guys saying this is just for pvp are forgetting one very important fact.
Glyphs can be easily changed out now.
I personally keep a stack of Dust of Disapearance just so I can switch out my glyphs at will for each boss fight. I do this for all my glyphs, not just focused shield.
If a raid boss has no adds that I need to be targeting at all I'll put in this glyph.

This glyph is for those situations where there is only one target with which to concern yourself.
Is it game breaking? No, it's a major; it comes down to situation/preference.
