Compare these to various raiding-level gloves:
Handwraps of Flowing Thought
are better if you're not yet hit capped. These have 6 more +dmg, 1.13%crit, red/blue sockets, and +4dmg bonus, while Flowing Thought have 1.35%hit with the socket bonus.
Voidheart
gains 14 stamina and 6 intellect, but lose out of the 2 sockets, socket bonus, have 3 less crit, and have 5 less +dmg. Unless they're giving you a set bonus, these are better. Of course, if you're not hit capped, Flowing Thought are even better.
Aldor's
are similar to Flowing Thought - better if you're not hit capped. They have 4dmg, 6crit, 2sta, and 2 sockets less, but gain 19 spirit (equated to 2.1dmg in raids) and 17hit.
Incarnate
lose 10 damage and 1 crit, both sockets, and gain some stats. Considering how much shadow priests rely on pure +dmg, these are much better.
Soul-Eater's
from Mag have 10 stamina and 2 intellect over these, and have a yellow instead of red socket, but these have 4 more crit and 4 more damage. These are better unless you really need the stamina.
Anger-Spark
from Doomwalker, pretty much the best pure damage gloves available to mages and locks, lose all the white stats and 10 damage but gain 20 hit rating, more desirable twin red sockets, and a 3crit socket bonus. Still the best gloves available if you don't need the sta/int and aren't hit capped.
With the exception of getting set bonuses, Tier 5 gloves are fairly lackluster to begin with.
Corruptor's
gains a significant amount of stamina but loses both sockets,
Tirisfal
basically trade the sockets for a bit higher stats, and
Avatar
trade the crit and sockets for ~1.4%hit and some stats.
Sum up:
If you're already hit capped, these are both the highest crit and the highest damage you can get until Tier 6. If you're not yet hit capped, stick with Flowing Thought, Aldor, or Anger-Spark.
EDIT: Added links.

As a shadow priest with the flowing handwraps as linked above these are a better amount of spell dmg than those based on that one of the sockets is red and that the socket bonus is 4 spell dmg meaning u can have a purple gme in the second socket giving u 6 more stam and still have the same amount of spell dmg as if u had socketed it with 2 Reds.
These are probably the best gloves in the game for most dps caster classes till Tier 5.

Actually for a shadowpriest these are quite on par with Tier6.

Amazing gloves if you're hit capped and don't need hit on gloves (like me)

Let's just pray that blizzard doesnt make these gloves ugly as sin.

I just submitted a screenshot of these; unfortunately, they're the same puke-green colour as they were on the PTR. Hopefully Blizz'll change this soon enough :)

Jumping in for the Spriests here...
These are the best gloves an Spriest can get until Tier 6. All the other options don't give you what you need, i.e. more +dmg after the hit cap.
If you need better +hit, get rings with +hit on them, rather than subbing out a socketed piece for a non-socketed one, or stick with your Flowing Thought Hands from Kara.

As a Tier 6 Shadow Priest I actually choose not to get these. I have 60 badges and nothing to buy.
I use 4/5 T5. I personally use Trousers of the Astromancer and T5 gloves over Studious Wraps and T5 Pants. My fellow guild Spirest choose to use Studious Wraps and T5 pants, but his alternative pants are Trial-Fire Trousers. So I guess it's personal preference.
My situation may be different from yours though. We're both eagerly waiting for Forgotten Conqueror tokens to drop. We will both end up in 4/5 T6 and Leggings of Channeled Elements off Kaz'rogal. We've never seen the pants drop and our guild gets way to many of the Forgotten Protector drops.
We aren't breaking 4/5 T5 until we can go 2/5 T6. My plan is 2/5 T6 gloves/helm. Then switch to 4/5 after I get shoulders/chest. So, 2/5 T5 and 2/5 T6 until 4/5 T6 is possible. Probably get T6 pants and toss a shadow resist kit on them. But always use Leggings of Channeled Elements for DPS.
I want to apologize for getting off topic. Basically if you don't have access to T6 loot these are an excellent choice. Just remember other combinations are viable.

seems to me even for mages this is equal to or better than T6. This is what I will be getting as soon as I get the badges.

******NOTE: The
Enslaved Doomguard Soulgrips
are still in 2.4 Public Test Realm - they can be changed at any time! Until the patch hits live, information in this post should only be relied on for theorycrafting.
I did some theorycrafting, comparing
Enslaved Doomguard Soulgrips
with these gloves. Here is what I found. I am a Warlock, by the way.
Studious Wraps
w/
Veiled Noble Topaz
&
Glowing Nightseye
(gets socket bonus)
27 Stamina
22 Intellect
25 Spell crit
54 Spell damage
4 Spell hit
Enslaved Doomguard Soulgrips
w/
Veiled Noble Topaz
(gets socket bonus)
33 Stamina
27 Intellect
30 Spell crit
53 Spell damage
4 Spell Hit
Now the difference between these items is 15 Badges. With those 15 Badges you get this:
+5 Stamina
+5 Intellect
+5 Spell Crit
-1 Spell damage
That is definitely an upgrade, but It is up to each person to decide if that is worth it. Personally, I'm hoarding badges to pick up some nice upgrades next patch, and I'd rather put those 15 badges towards some new legs, weapon, or ring.

Just spotted new epic gems you get with badges of justice... go for runed crimson spinel (12 damage) and Glowing Shadowsong Amethyst (6 damage and 7 stamina) to achieve the set bonus. That's a slight 2 damage downgrade from 2 x 12 damage gems, but it's 7 stamina that will come in handy in time ! With that, you will have an awesome pair of gloves, of course that's 90 badges total... ouch ^^
Awesome gloves for a shadowpriest !!

For shadow priests, these gloves are slighly better than enslaved doomguard soulgrips. Shadow priests should only use these gloves over t6 if they do not yet have the 2pc bonus from t6.
Handguards of Absolution - Azgalor, Hyjal
-- 46+31*0.055(1.71)+13=60.71/71.06(2piece)/79.64(2+4piece) + 19 Hit(25.92)=86.63/96.98(2piece)/105.56(2+4piece)
Studious Wraps - 60 Badge of Justice
-- 40+25/5.57(4.49)+22*0.055(1.21)+24=69.7
Enslaved Doomguard Soulgrips - 75 Badge of Justice
-- 46+30/5.57(5.39)+27*0.055(1.49)+13=65.88
Soul-Eater's Handwraps - Magtheridon, Magtheridon's Lair

I'll add that for mages, this is worth breaking spellfire for, especially if you can get the belt of blasting at the same time.
