When you wake up, you will find yourself in an endless maze.
The Endless Halls is a cruel, uncompromising maze, designed to confuse and disorient at every turn. You start in a nondescript room with foggy exits in the four cardinal directions (N/E/S/W), though some are blocked by rubble. Going in one of these exits will fade the screen to black, then fade back in with you in the connected room.
The goal of the maze is to find 5 colors of orbs (red/blue/green/yellow/purple), and deliver them (carried one at a time) to the 5 matching colors of runes. However, several mechanics make this much more difficult than it may sound.

The maze is arranged on an 8x8 grid of rooms. Each cell has between one and four exits. However, if it would have 4 exits, it’s actually not a single room, but two two-way rooms that occupy the same space, but don’t intersect. These Non-Intersecting Cross rooms are the first major source of confusing discontinuity, and also cannot contain any Orbs or Runes.
The second main source of disorientation is the edges. They loop around, but not directly. Instead, exiting one end of the maze will send you to the other side of the maze, with an additional offset. This makes it very difficult to tell what room you will end up in if you cross the edge of the map. You can, however, reliably backtrack from your new position to your previous position. Many players made frequent use of this backtracking to reliably navigate the maze without getting lost.
In addition, there is one final wrench thrown into the gears: the Teleportation Trap. Within the maze, a single room is the Teleportation Trap. When you enter this room, you are instead secretly teleported to a random room in the maze. Once you’ve identified the Teleportation Trap room, avoid it at all costs!

With the AQ 40 Mind game, how to complete it is that you need to line up 5 icons in a row. There have been reports of this icon doing it or this, I personally finished it with the eye icon. If you line up 5 in a row you should get it, and a scroll will pop up on the table/alter when you do!
Edit: I have a friend that had to line up 2 rows of 5 before he completed the AQ 40 game, so then I guess there is no "definite" way to beat it. Again I keep hearing you have to use this icon, no this icon, etc etc. Just aim to line up 5 of the same icon, that is all I can really tell you.

for the AQ40 puzzle, sit on the table with the "game board" over it. It seems horizontal matches of 5 brains is the key
for the Ulduar one, if you can get in on someone's lockout who has already completed it, you can skip the whole puzzle. No idea if this works if they have left the instance already.

If you're like me, and you're on the Ulduar part, with the lights, and images that show the pattern are more confusing than helpful here's a method someone over on MMO-Champ had posted on how they done it:
a) start with a corner. from there, counting the corner, count 8 lights along the edge. This will be your starting point.
b) move inwards 3 lights
c) move towards the corner 1 light
d) zig-zag diagonal towards the corner without touching the edge
c) zig-zag diagonal 5 squares
e) zig-zag diagonal 3 squares
f) make a line towards the wall.
g) you should be 8 lights from the original corner.
h) starting from 8, count to the 13th light along the edge.
i) repeat b through h until you have circled the square
j) fill in the outline.
k) done correctly after marking the last light, the lights will disappear and only the 4 red lights and the scroll will appear.
I would just like to reiterate, I did not come up with this short guide, another member on MMO-Champion did!

Regarding the AQ 40 clue: I feel like it's important to add, especially for those of us who aren't familiar with the layout of this raid, that you have to go out of Cthun's room, around to the right past the NPC's, up the stairs to the little alter where there is a Mind Larva you must click on, THEN your Jewelcraft's appearance will change to the Yogg creatures.

It's literally covered in &*!@bags and their pets and their toys, the absolute worst kind of trolls, the kind that literally have nothing better to do all day than to sit in one place and make the game harder for others...

Hello! I'm sure that there are those of you who are currently wondering what on earth you need to do to complete the Jewelcraft puzzle in AQ40.
The aim of the game is to get rid of all of the shadow orbs at the bottom of the screen. You can combine 3 things at a time to get rid of these, but 4 seems to get rid of more and I imagine 5 does as well.
The game mechanics are pretty confusing, but generally the voidlords add new shadow orbs whilst the tentacles deduct them. The squids seem to not affect anything, and the others sometimes (the faceless ones seem to always do this) slowly add in new orbs (they appear lighter at first).
Edit: Getting 5 brains instantly completed it for me when I decided to restart the game. If you don't want to sit around all day, just click off the debuff and keep restarting until you finally get lucky. ;)

. He is wearing Red Mageweave Shoulders, Azure Silk Cloak and Darkmist Wraps, Shadoweave Mask. It seems to be the mask that's the key to show the next note. There are other items with similar model.
Edit: confirmed it is the Mask you need to wear.
Edit #2: Pattern has been introduced back into the game. Reported as dropping from Dark Iron Dwarves in Searing Gorge. Note that you CANNOT transfer items cross-realm. It has been reported that transmog does not work. Shadow Silk drops from the spiders in the area. Advised to bring pattern & mats to a tailor to craft. There is a separate discord channel for matching tailors to realms.

is not obtainable anywhere else then from old Tailor craters, and they ask for 300k on my server to make one, the mats can be bought on the Ah for less then 25g, im not sure what they have eaten at Blizzard. there is no way in hell i will give people 299.975g extra for making that mask.
As i write this the price just went up, only one on Ah is atm 800k, people in /2 : WTS 750k

*THEORY WARNING: POSSIBLY NOT TRUE INFORMATION AHEAD*
OK so what I believe is that since we have already visited AQ40 (vanilla) Ulduar (WotLK) Deepholm (Cata) and New Dal (Legion) that the next locations are in somewhere in areas that were released in the remaining expansions and to assume that there is 8 notes/clues like there was with the Riddler's Mind Worm mount, that there is 1 clue in a TBC area, a clue in a MoP area and a clue in a WoD area, and one more note back in Legion. Since the previous clues were in notable locations of their respectable expansions, clues could appear for TBC in The Black Temple, Siege of Orgrimmar for MoP, and possibly Blackrock Foundry for WoD and the last note in the new playable area, Argus. If they weren't in those raids they could be in notable lore infested locations of the respectable expansion... Though this is just a theory I have a strong feeling that I am onto something big that could lead to the next clues that we find for this mount.

I´ve put the Spanish and English messages in order, grouping strings into sections based on the longer strings and pairing the 8 and 5 digit strings together.
I´ve checked by adjusting the in-game resolution how the text adapted to different sizes of the message box, so I could be certain of whether each digit belonged to a single string even though it was represented in two different lines or not. This is what i´ve come up with.

Looking at both texts comparatively:
1-The lenguage difference seems to indicate that the encrypted message is not numeric but a written text instead, likely indicating where/how to find the actual solution for the levers.
2-In the English text the long strings come after the groups of 8 and 5 pairs while in the Spanish text the long strings come before the groups. What does that indicate?
3- The long strings are all 24 digits in English, but in the Spanish text there´s not such consistency, this strings vary in length between 24 and 42 digits. Also there´s 4 long strings instead of 3 in the Spanish version.
4- The last 2 lines (180 and +1111111111) are the exact same in both versions of the text. This means is probably a numeric factor that modifies the whole text somehow. Here´s a few ideas:
4.1-It´s been suggested a couple of times that 180 may reffer to degrees. Maybe it indicates that the strings should be read backwards.(?)
4.2- The +1111111111 (which is 2^10 in binary numeric notation) may indicate that we have to add that number to all other strings for them to make sense (?)
5-Strings that are 5 digit long seem out of place in binary code, but maybe they are just numbers written in binary notation. Those numbers would range from 0 to 31 and would be linked to the 8 digit string they follow.
This are just some ideas I got from trying to make sense of the difference between both versions and what those differences meant.
I hope it is helpful in some way, and I think it would be great if people responded to what I have explained with their own ideas, both to back my reasoning and/or to expose any flaws on it, as it would help the comunity reach an answer.

This is about clue Nr 5? i think (in gnomeregan with levers):
I had problem that i couldnt interact with levers, even if i can read plaque and done all previous steps. I tried reequip mask, be naked only with mask, restarted game etc. I even tried to do again previous step. I have mask on all the time, still nothing helped. I can read plaque, but cant interact with levers and dont see any numbers on them. Any ideas how to fix that? Maybe its visual bug? Maybe i need to kill certain boss?
Edit: Tried to disable all addons - didnt help, so i assume its not visual bug.
P.S. I can click levers, i have like little dialogue mouse, but window doesnt open :(

You can save yourself some headache in the Deep Cavern stage with the plaque and skull by going in there with a Shadoweave Mask the first time. I didn't test if you could interact with the skull by going in there with it equipped already though. What I did was interact with the plaque, then equip the mask, then /reload. After the /reload, the skull was interactable.

So I was running around in Endless Halls for a couple hours, matched green and blue, never saw red (orb or rune), and my map kept putting me in places I shouldn't be able to get to, i.e. apparently 1-way doors. Got frustrated and hearthed (to Shrine) to start over and now I can't find the ashes of the evil sorcerer again to click and start over. Any ideas?

that was the hardest puzzle with the orbs ever.. Seriously get some grid paper like the size of a of 4ft poster atleast to draw the boxes and figure crap out.
If i had to do it again i would have not touched the orbs so i could identify every room then use my map to navigate back afterward.

Some tips for the last puzzle (the maze) for people dont want to just do it randomly.
1) Popular to what people on discord kept saying how they get 'teleported away', you CAN backtrack several dozen maps even if you were 'teleported' as people thought (their character facing different position of the map). You can ALWAYS retrace your steps so use paint/excel to draw a map (showing the wall/stones and which direction you took)
2) You can be stuck in a loop where you end up going to the same map.
3) There is only one rune/orb map per color, so if you found a red orb and then a few maps later you encountered a red orb again, you looped yourself back to the same point.
4) No point not doing the colors as you get them instead of tracking all the colors first, the colors you completed do respawn after you've completed it (around 1hour~ mark), that being said tracking all the 10 maps before attempting to completely might make it easier for some people so you can find new routes to track as you will have several 'constant' maps to refer to (the orb/rune maps).
5) If you find a orb/rune, start tracking the maps then, otherwise just run randomly until you find one to track.
6) Your last rune (not orb) just run randomly as there is no reason to track anymore (it would just be quicker to run around than keep tracking at this point).
7) Always refer to your minimap when moving.
Took me an hour to complete this maze on each of my 2 accounts using the tracing method, noting my steps in excel. something like this:

The map generated is different for each player so what you see for my SS wont be the same for yours.

During the maze, logging out helps a ton. You get placed at the beginning and you will keep your orb.
Keep track of your moves. I used this

Track your moves until you find an orb/rune. Log out and back in and continue a different route until you find another orb/rune. Eventually, you should find them all and be done.

Endless Halls is Not a fun quest Im sleepy, my hand and eyes hurt still looking. Must say if this mount was not so awesome and since they but the chariot I begged for for a year in Diablo no way would I do this questline. Heaven help me IM on hour 8 and afraid to log in case I have to start over only 3 down so far.-Update 8 1/2 hours done

If you are a warlock with the The Grimoire of the First Necrolyte quest you will be phased in the crypt, you either need to complete the quest or drop it to be able to see the crate to pickup the mount at the end.

This puzzle takes too long. With only 3 colors to match, it would've been fine; but with 5 colors to match it quickly overstays its welcome.
The map in the Endless Hall puzzle actually loops once you hit the edge. Hand-drawn maps will help, but without more landmarks you'll ultimately get off-track and make a puzzle that should take 30 minutes to an hour into a 4 hour+ affair. Focus on ONE color at a time. Once you find an orb/rune, ditch the first map you spent so much time on and make a new one with the orb/rune as the new center. Focus on finding the orb/rune that matches the one you found. If you get totally lost, then start a new map with the room you're in as the new center. It's not the best method (Ideally you would make a complete map with totally connected passages, but with the looping and limited landmarks it is nearly impossible to do so.) but in the event that you DO find the same-color rune/orb you have a path written down to successfully back-track.
Also, when you connect all the orbs and runes, you have to enter any passage available to you. You will enter the room with the note.

For the Jewelcraft puzzle te objective is to have no tentacles in the lower half of the puzzle. The closer the tentacles are the darker the dots appear in the bottom, clear out the tentacles in the lower half and no more dots and BAM! Help get this shown to all stuck on this puzzle!

There is a Lucid Nightmare add-on to help track the maze solution. Paper and pen recommended. Reset all instances if your maze is too hard. People report it takes between half an hour and 6 hours to complete...

Some observations from my time in the halls:
- Map is randomly generated each time you zone in.
- Your map has multiple 'floors' that connect to each other via one-way 'portals' - they look like regular room exits.
- Each floor is an endlessly repeating map. You need to find & utilize the portals in order to complete the puzzle.

Portals will randomly take you to a different location in the halls - it can be somewhere on the same floor, or a different floor.
- Always look behind you to see if you came from a blocked exit - that means you just walked through a portal!

Don't do what I did and fly to Ratchet to find Racksum Greep. You just need to equip the the shadoweave mask in the Deep Cavern (after you have clicked on the Dingy Plaque on the back of the chair) and a skull will appear on the seat of the chair.

Here are a few tips that might help you in the
Kun-Lai Summit
maze part:
Runes and Orbes
There are 5 colored runes that are on the table and 5 colored orbs that are on the fire near the table. The colors are: Yellow, Blue, Green, Red, and Purple
You have to match the orb color you pick up and trace your way back to the matching rune
The last orb color you pickup will replace the one you already have. For example, if you already have a blue orb and pickup a red orb, your red orb will disappear and will be replaced by the blue orb
The runes and orbs are scattered throughout the maze
Map your movements.
This step is very important, without it you can walk around randomly for hours and inefficiently.
You can use a paper to map your movement or PC or w/e.
Map Which floor you are in
The starting floor should be floor 1. When you go up then its floor 2 and so on.
Every floor has different rooms. Keep this in mind while mapping.
All rooms connect eventually, so don't lose hope.
It is important to keep track of what room is on which floor. If you don't do this then eventually your map will overlap and become hard to read

This is help for those stuck on the Endless Halls "Maze". (I was in the Discord when the first mount was looted. Congrats to everyone, and thanks for the company and help.)
For those who are having trouble with the Endless Halls. I discovered this, while I was in the process of actually mapping it out. The first step, is to realize it is not a flat map. Just because you go east, west, north, or south, doesn't mean you moved that direction. You could have went up a level, or down a level and it may have a hallway that passes over or under the level you just were on, making it look like you ran in a circle, but you are actually either above, or below the other tile (for lack of an easier way to explain it) The map however does have a pattern, and it is based on the 5 elements. Fire (Red), Water (blue), Earth (Green), Air (Yellow), and Spirit (Purple). I call these the Five quadrants of the map. Each Quadrant will spawn One Rune Color, and One Flame (Orb) color. Now to explain, Each time you go through a doorway, you could have just went up or down a level as well. If you backtrack exactly as you came, you will find every room is exactly where it was prior. There is an addon that somewhat works, but if you take a sheet of paper, and use different colors to draw the map, allowing you to use multiple colors on one block so you know one is over or under the other one, you will see these are not just random rooms (maybe randomized per person). and you can always get back where you were before.
EDIT: If you find the door you just came through blocked off, you have teleported to a different area (quadrant) on the map. One of the other doorways should teleport you back to the last room you were in though.

Just a tip for the Endless Halls - Use a Demon Hunter, they can double jump and Fel Rush over the rubble.
I got stuck on my last set of colors for 1 hour, and ended up randomly jumping over stuff. Got done in 5 min.

Endless Halls maze - I've seen many asking if they can log & progress be saved, and various answers for it. After almost falling asleep around dawn while trying to find the last rune I needed, and totally losing track of where I was, I exited the game in the maze. When I logged back on today I was still in the maze & still had the blue orb, finally found the blue rune, but that didn't finish it. The progress had
NOT
been saved & the map was reset, although I still had the blue orb I'd logged with. Went thru & got the rest of the matches, then looked around for a note but didn't see one. After you get all 5 orbs/runes matched, go any direction & you'll be taken to the room with the scroll.

Ok so two things: When you get the the console part in Gnom - RIGHT click. May seem obvious but I was left clicking and got nothing.
GET THE ADD ON for the Endless Halls. It may not be perfect but it helped me a lot. Took just over 2 1/2 hours to finish.

As long as you are on the affliction hidden skin quest you wont be able to see the chest with the mount.
Abandon the quest and you will get your mount.

Strong advice for the Maze part of this.
1. Do not activate ANY of the runes until you have locations for ALL runes and orbs
2. Once you have all runes and orbs on your map, work from the outer ones towards the centre.
Doing this changed a 9 hour drama into under an hour of work.

The maze was an insanely difficult challenge, Graph paper didn't work out as quite often a room would overlap what you had already drawn.
I started looking around for online resources and found

which was a godsend, until i accidentally overwrote my map with a blank while trying to prevent flash player from crashing. After clearing out a few colors, and not knowing where I was anymore, i started randomly roaming and found the blue orb, I had already seen the blue altar so i was confident that was one of the last colors left. Luckily it was, since finding the altar again took me over 40 minutes.
The mapping site was super useful until flash player started crashing, I knocked out Red/Yellow/Green/Purple in a very short space of time. Play some music and try to relax, it could take a very long time

FOR THE KUN LAI MAZE..
Easily the hardest part.. kept running around for hours trying to make an elaborate map which kept overlapping (there are stairs & multiple floors). Then sat down today for a fresh start with some changes and was done in 30 min. My basic tips while making the map..
DO NOT
go about collecting the orbs and finishing the runes as you go. You'll be left with lots of empty rooms which will look exactly the same.
Instead, keep mapping till you find all ten landmarks (5 orbs & 5 runes). Once your map has all ten, it'll be a breeze collecting them.
Don't try & make a big map.. This I felt was most important for me.. make many smaller maps linking one landmark to the next.. maximum of 4 landmarks per map, with no crossing paths in any map.
This way you'll end up with 3-4 smaller but neater maps all liked to each other.. Once you have mapped all ten landmarks, go back and collect.
The /reload strategy didn't work for me.. didn't always put me back in the same spot.
Even if you get lost, don't worry. If you have all 10 landmarks still up.. just start running around till you run into one & reorient yourself.
If you're already halfway done & lost (as I was), take a break. The maze resets after a few hours so all runes & orbs will be visible again, making it easier to map. Any orb you had previously collected will still be on you but that's okay. The orb will still show in it's room till you deposit it to it's rune. You'll lose your progress though & will have to do all 5 runes.
Worked beautifully for me.. best of luck :)

Trolls being trolls, a lot of people get their giggles by crowding on the chair making it impossible to see anything. The invisibility potion will make not just you but everyone else invisible, making the skull, chair & scroll easily accessible.
Only works with the Draenic version

PICK UP AT LEAST 3...
If you put on your mask after reaching the room, you may not be able to interact with the skull. Known issue.. relog and it should be solved, but one potion wasted. Better to relog once you enter the room before using the potion, but keep an extra anyways.
The invisibility potion wears off after interacting with anything, so after clicking on the skull, may have to wait a few minutes to again use the potion to get the scroll.

A quick disclaimer to all of you mad enough to go through this. I just obtained this mount after I obtained the Riddler's Mind Worm not long ago. I loved the secret nature of the search, together with the puzzle solving. It was fun--until the maze (last step) for this mount. That was downright brutal. After 3 hours of my life was gone, I finally finished the maze, went to Kara, got the mount, and was so excited to go show it off in the nearest capital city to my guildies, friends, and other random players. But wait---BE WARNED THIS THING DOES NOT FLY. That is right, although this thing is a post-legion addition to the game--it is a non-flying mount. So enjoy all of the madness that will come from obtaining it, only for it to sit in your collection of unused mounts. At least the Riddler's Mind Worm flies.
My overall opinion, in light of the foregoing, is to skip this one and spend your time better elsewhere. For example, go farm invincible from ICC 25H, or go do literally anything else that yields a flying mount.
And to stem the tide of inevitable comments, yes, I possibly could have researched this more, and discovered the useless-non-flying nature of this mount beforehand. But considering the world first for obtaining it occurred within the last 36 hours, I don't think it was too much for me to assume a post-legion mount put into the game would have the possibility of flying. Maybe I'm wrong. Either way, now hopefully others will know.

I do not think there are "Floors" to travel, since when i went through a "portal" and trying retracing my steps, it was in vein.

The name of the mount, Lucid Nightmare, propably comes from Lucid dreaming. Lucid dreaming means a dream, where you're aware of that you're dreaming and you will be able to control your actions.
I can assume then the Lucid Nightmare would be similar to be stuck in the maze, trying to fing those orbs and matching runes :D

for pronouncing Chinese(simplified), we use pinyin system(en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pinyin). and it uses the same 26 letters as English, that's why the Chinese code are similar to the English version. but for Chinese(traditional), they don't use pinyin and their system has no common with English so they had to use a completely different way to encode the message and that make zhTW version very special(23211 etc not 0 and 1 like all the other languages) and end up being decoded first by some TW player and that lead us to the 3 pet skills. People figured out how non-zhTW version work only after we already known the answer and got the mount.

Wife made yesterday. The last part - labirint - bugged. There were endless rooms, unconformed floors, looked like there were 6+ floors. She couldnt find the last sphere. After some time time she just logged out, cleared cash, entered and the labirint became normal and looted the mount. So keep in mind there can be bugs.

For the MAZE part, I can confirm logging off or exiting the game will reset the progress in the maze and you will have to restart the maze again. Logging out to character selection screen keeps the progress though.

EXACTLY where to find your final prize. I spent ages, like a few other people, running around the Forgotten Crypts looking for the Puzzler's Desire. The Crypts are actually quiet big and would have been cooler to explore if I wasn't so impatient to find my mount :P
On entering the crypts head down, past the well of the forgotten, to the Pauper's Walk. Halfway down take the path that splits off to the right, then take the left path (will start to steadily decline). If you miss either turn you will end up in the Forgotten Crypt (dirt area with lots of tomb/ mausoleums?).
You should now be in a lower part of the Forgotten Crypts and looking at an area of mounds of dirt. There are two ways to go from here, short and boring or a little longer and interesting/ disturbing....
Short: go to the left and jump down the chute on the left (just before or after the portcullis, there are two chutes), now exit this area through the arches behind you, turn right and enter the neighboring room in which you will find your prize.
Scenic: head over the mounds of dirt to the left back of the room and enter the water (The Upside-down Sinners), head straight down and exit the tunnel at the bottom. Turn left down the hall after you exit the water and then turn right, you should now see your prize on the pile of bones ahead.
Hope this helps and definitely take the time to explore this area.

I spent upwards of 6 hours in the Endless Halls.
2 things I'd like to share/clarify.
1. Use the "Lucid Nightmare Helper" addon. It doesn't give you instant success, but it does help keep track of the runes and orbs.
2. Because I was in there for so long, some of the coloured runes I'd previously completed, had started to re-appear again. Regardless, I kept track of which colours I'd completed, and once I'd completed all 5, I was teleported to the final "Inconspicuous Note". Keep notes, and don't give up if previously completed colours start reappearing.

If I may add some information concerning the AQ puzzle.
If you get 5 tentacles in a row, you automatically win the game, but not for any other "picture".
The amount of points is based on how many tentacles you are able to remove from the game, so you must focus on them.

MAZE MAP MAKING

The addon is helpful, but if you have a really confusing map, it's not going to cut it. Using the mapping strategy below, I completed a fresh run of the maze in about 1.5 hours.

As you can see, the corridors collect in a lot of really non-intuitive ways, and the loop around the yellow rune was really difficult to keep track of without a map. That's why strategies like running straight and only turning left won't work. You can easily get stuck in a circle of corridors, or keep hitting a teleport!
How To:
1. Open a Google Sheet and make all your columns into small squares. You can highlight all of them at once, then drag one over to resize them all at once.
2. Create a 3x3 box by putting a border around it (I used pink).
3. Copy that 3x3 square across your entire sheet
4. Pick a box somewhere in the middle of the sheet and start drawing in the open doorways following what room you are in.
You'll need:
- 4 T shape rooms (rubble blocking up, down, left, or right)
- 2 straight bar rooms (veritcal and horizontal)
- 4 corner rooms (up and right, up and left, down and right, down and left)
I used a solid color for the rune, and the same color with an O typed in the box for the orb room.
TIPS
=============
DO NOT merge orbs with runes until you have finished finding all of them. You will definitely want these landmarks in order to verify where you are in the map.
Be mindful of teleports! There seem to be at least two spots in each map that will teleport you somewhere in the map at random. If you think you have been teleported, backtrack 2 or 3 rooms to check that their doorway patterns match what you just documented. If they don't, or if rubble is now blocking your way, move that section to a different spot in your sheet and start mapping until you've got a recognizable section again.
The maps are not very big. If you have a section on your sheet that looks a lot like another section - it's probably the same spot. You will do a LOT of running to verify - the easiest way is just to follow that previous route back to the closest rune or orb room to see if you end up there.
The map works a bit like a Pacman table, but it doesn't seem to actually be square, and may have multiple floors. Corridors connect to each other in some really odd ways. If your map turns back on itself, put a letter at the end of the current run, and start a new section in a new spot on the sheet.
If you do merge the orbs with the runes, the runes will eventually respawn (not sure if they are in the same spot or not) but the orbs will not.

It has a cute little show pony animation when you hit the space bar. But don't expect to go flying around Dalaran to show off your new mount.

To find the "Pit of Criminals" enter the Crypt follow the path down around the curve. This brings into into a room with gates and hallways. Ignore those, and hang a left as soon as you come to the bottom of the walk. This will take you down another curved path, and will bring you into another room. Across the room from you should be a hall heading into the water, this room is "The Upside-down Sinners", enter the water and swim straight down, taking the hallway directly under where you just came in. This will bring you to another hall, in front of you is the Tomb of the Unrepentant, you don't want that one, take a left instead, and this hall will bring you to the Pit of Criminals, enjoy your mount. Follow your path in reverse to leave, or just hearth/port.

For the Endless Hall, I had tried it earlier in the day and found a couple of the colors, I went back later figuring I had to start all over since I had been logged out, I made my map and all of the runes showed up but I could not find all of the orbs. Finally I decided to just turn in the 2 orbs I had been able to locate and then walked through the next door and it completed. So under some circumstance(maybe all?) you do not need to do all of them in one sitting even if all of the runes are showing.

It would be SUPER HELPFUL for the guides to be more clear on the fact that you do not actually have to go to Ratchet. After clicking on the Dingy Plaque, simply equip the Shadoweave Mask and click the skull on the same chair.

On the Mind Larva game in AQ, you don't play until you get a certain number of points. You have to line up 5 brains. That will win you the game and cause the note to appear. Credit to Volleygirl21 for posting this tidbit on the Mind Larva object page.

The Gnomeregan map that everyone keeps perpetuating is absolutely confusing at best, and completely incorrect at worse. You don't enter the instance at the boss. Simply put, the easiest way to find the consoles is to go into the workshop entrance (the northernmost entrance once you've taken the elevator into Gnomeregan). Walk straight forward, jump down, you'll be facing the launch bay area, head there. Once in the launch bay, simply go into the larger of the two tunnels to 37,55. Input your commands, done. Don't follow that ridiculous map that leads you on a wild goose chase on the wrong level in the wrong area.

No point in doing this currently. People being jerks are blocking you from getting the one in Deepholm. I have seen everything from a mole machine to a giant dancing boomkin blocking the item intentionally. Thanks Blizz for another lousy design that opens the door for people to be nasty. Just what this game needed.

For the Jewelcraft Minigame, what I seemed to determine using other people's comments and from a good 30 minutes wasted, is that the void tendrils/tentacles are the only way you earn points.
- 5 in a row may score you more points, but no, it does not win it automatically
- clearing the 'bottom row' does not either
The spots that show below the minigame just hint at the fact that the tendrils are what you go for.
20 minutes into the game, I checked for hints here, and tried them all. However, once I started going for the tendrils, I quickly got through the game. I had been pretty much ignoring them before that.

I just completed the Maze. I spent a couple hours one night and didn't realize there was 5 colors so I had to wait for it to reset, but the second time I gave it a go it took me 2+ hours to completely map out all the locations of both the runes and the orbs. All you have to do is get a few sheets of paper and pay attention to the Compass of your minimap to tell which way you are going. I setup my sheets with North, South, East and West on the edges and used a box for each room with either an X if that direction was blocked or an arrow if I could go through. once I found all the runes and orbs it was just a matter of tracking each movement I made and following the many maps. If you try to make one big map you will have overlaps that don't match up so I either started a new map each time I overlapped or I drew a large arrow to another spot on the paper to keep going. This part is maddening but if you track movements with the compass and make sure you don't loose your place you should get it.

Just a couple of hints:
1 - The Jewelcraft game on Ahn Quiraj seems to be related to a hiden score. Just keep playing and you will eventually get it.
2 - Get the
暗纹面罩
before going to Deepholm. ¡No need to go to ratchet!
3 - If you have the
暗纹面罩
equiped, and still can't interact with the skull, try a /reload. You don't need to relog.
4 - In Val'sharah, be sure to don't engage the rare outside the cotage, or the game will reset.
5 - For the maze I highly recomend the use of pen and paper, an excel sheet or something similar so you don't loose track of the path.

For endless halls:
This seems to be a 3 story "instance". When you are "teleporting" it is NOT taking you to a random room. You are simply at the edge of the room, where there is a staircase that takes you up or down. If you go one way, and that is not what your map shows, simply turn around to go back to the room you came out of, turn around again, and instead of taking you up/down it will take you the other way. It will match your map this way! Knowing the "teleports" were no longer random, I was able to get all the orbs/runes with no further problems.
I suggest drawing a map like the guy did in this video:

On the Maze:
As far as I can tell, there are no different levels of the map. Everything is on the same level.
What gives this illusion is the presence of 2 mechanics.
The first one is the presence of
teleporters
. Some exits will send you to a random room on the map.
The second one is the presence of
wormholes
(or tunnels). Some exits will send you to another fixed place on the map.
The main thing is to be aware these mechanics exist. The maps will make a lot more sense.
The wormholes are mostly just a nuisance, since they will mess with your map. When you see overlapping rooms, I advise to note it down, and go map in a different direction first. Once you've mapped all you can, go back to these points and start a new map from there. You'll likely end up connecting to one of the other points you skipped, back on your main map.
For me, the purple rune room turned out to be in an area that only had an exit to the rest of the map, no entrance. I assume that was a bug. Though sheer luck I got teleported into that room while holding the purple torch. If you can't find a final room, that may be a desperate way to find it.

After testing a few things out, I have been able to conclude two things about the Endless Halls:
1) The maze is the same if you port out but go back into the Endless Halls during the same session as when you first went in.
2) The maze is reset every time you log out and back in. Even if you log out while in the maze.

For Endless Halls, after you finish, if it doesn't automatically port you out, run out any open doorway and it will port you to the room. I'm embarrassed to say I spent 5 hours running it twice only to have nothing happen. I thought I had made a mistake or daily reset maybe reset it on me unbeknownst to me. Nope. Did it a THIRD time and still didn't get the auto port out. Ran out a doorway and it ported me to the spot for scroll...I hate this game sometimes.

When you finish the maze and are filled with the anticipation of riding the magical equine - don't freak out if you're not teleported to the last note instantly.
Walk into the 'next room' after completing the final orb / rune pair, and you will be ported to the final inconspicuous note.
Hopefully this will save someone that moment of panic and the sense of dread at the thought,
"Do I have to do it all over again?" Good luck, fellow unicorn hunters!

Couple of things that may be helpful...
DEEPHOLM
This may be a glitch but in order to interact with the skull on the chair, I had to take all of my gear (including my weapon) off EXCEPT the shadoweave mask. Some people in my guild said they didn't have to do that while others said they did.
VAL'SHARAH PART
The nightmare tumor thing that brings up the game where you untangle the threads is inside the house.
MAZE
It's been suggested to use graph paper, which works. BUT I would suggest using a tablet (ipad, samsung tablet, etc) with a drawing/sketch book app that allows you to add layers. This way you can add a new layer when paths start to overlap. This worked really well for me and I was able to complete the maze in just under 2 hours.

Alright, took me 3 1/2 hours on my gf account and 2 hours on mine to complete the maze. Do get the addon to track your path, it helps a lot.
If you like me are running around for an hour with the last orb and can't find the matching last rune, try to change direction completely (For example, if you have been going south west for a while, go back to a room with multiple openings and take the one that goes into the opposite direction).
Also I've noticed that at some point the rooms repeat themselves like a pattern. I kept finding the blue and purple rune after one other...and 20 rooms later the same pattern repeated. Avoid crossing paths with the rooms you came from, so to avoid the jumps/teleports.

When i whas doing the puzzle in AQ, i saw purple circles coming and going on the floor, maybe somethings up with that? When i mouseover the tentacles you saw the circles lightup on the ground. Not sure it hase sometthing to do with solving this puzzle quickly

I'm in the Endless Halls at the moment. I had read in the comments that you can log out and your progress will be saved (so long as you stay in the Halls) so I logged out after i had purple and red runes activated.
When I logged back in I found the room with purple orbs still on and got confused? Does your progress save or not, on logging out?

The ulduar lights should be reset in some way pressing 1 button if you make a mistake you have to turn all the lights one by one and is too annoying. Also you have to do the patron looking at the stairs otherwise the note will not form even if you do the patron right.

Endless Halls Maze needs to be done in one session. The Lucid Nightmare Helper add-on really helps.
Tonight I decided to pretend it was like the House of the Undying in the ASOIAF books, since all the stairs I can see only go up (which is one of the rules they tell Dany, and to always take the first door on the right.) So I attempted to turn right at every opportunity, unless I was looping myself on the same level, (I'd get back to the same Rune Room, so that part was easy), then I'd turn left. Took me an hour. I also did it one color at a time. Some have suggested finding everything first, which I tried, and I didn't have much luck at, and kept running out of time.
The first two I finished were close together, so that was fast. The next two were a little farther apart so it took a little longer. At that point all I had left was the pink one, and it's Rune I'd run into before any orbs, and it was back so far, yet I hadn't run into it's orb yet. At that point I got back to the pink Rune, cleared the add-on map, remarked the pink Rune Room, and started over. It took about 60 moves before I found the Orb, but it only took a few minutes to get back to the Rune, and I was done. Woot!
Once you finish the last Rune, exit that room, and it will phase into a much brighter room, with another alter, which has the next and final note on it.
EDIT: A note on the crypt in Karazhan.
Follow Pauper's Row(?) down to the room with the mounds of dirt.
As you enter that room, turn to your left and hug the wall.
Near the end of the room, on your left, there are two sets of double steel gates you can open, (like in Strathholme), and in between them, is a drop down to the next level, you can see water.
Face the wall the gates are on (the wall you just hugged - so face left) and jump down.
You land in a shallow pool of water.
Now instead of going forward towards the Upside Down Sinners, turn right, hug the wall on your right, and there will be an opening with another room with another shallow pool in it. That room has the pile of bones. On the pile of bones is your chest with the mount.
It's the pile of bones you used to land in years ago if you jumped down the black hole in the first room in the crypt, which now has candles and a green rune by it, and the hole itself has been blocked by some red and purple giant cookie-looking thing, so no jumping down for you!

For me the easiest way to complete the endless halls puzzle is to always turn in the same direction - this way you can make sure you don't get in a cycle and go over the perimiter of the maze. took about 30 minutes to gather all 5 spheres.
Also if you are running past a sphere of a different color than you are carrying and not long after you find the matching seal, you can easily backtrack using the opposite direction (i.e. if you were turning always left - turn right) and get that sphere.
And no need to write down anything.

I found it difficult to find the crate at the very end - the directions just said in the Pit of Criminals. If you don't know where that is, you'll go down a ramp to some stone rooms with doors that will open. This isn't it. Take the tunnel next to the one you came out of, keep going down. Eventually you'll find a room with a pool and people hanging from their feet in the water. Go through this and onto land, take a left then on your right you should see the pile of bones :-)

When navigating the Endless Halls maze, it helps to realize that the rooms
do not represent a contiguous space
. Even if you can move from room A to room B by going north (and from B to A by going south), this doesn't mean that B is really north of A. Yes, there is consistency in how the pairs of rooms connect up, but overall the maze is inconsistent in terms of directions. Our intuitive ideas about relative locations work against us in trying to conceptualize this virtual space. The maze appears to be a randomly generated non-planar graph. Each room exists in its own separate space and when you leave a room you effectively go through a portal to a different space. There are no edges or boundaries to the maze, no rooms that can be said to be east (or any of the other directions) of all other rooms. You could head out from one room going only south and west, for example, and find that you eventually loop around to the room where you started. It's also unhelpful to try visualizing the maze as consisting of floors, as you could find loops by never going "up". These halls are truly endless.
I recommend discarding intuitive notions of directions and thinking purely in terms of logical (virtual) connections between rooms. Sure, you can still draw a map showing pairs of rooms being north/south or east/west relative to each other, but this will eventually break down as you run into the non-planarity of the graph. Like others, I began mapping pieces of the maze and used numbered connectors. After rearranging the layout to place the rune/orb room pairs physically "near" each other on a single page, here is how my maze looked:

I mapped 69 distinct rooms and left 3 branches unexplored (coincidentally all pointing east), so I know my full maze must have had at least 3 more rooms I never visited. I never experienced the teleportation phenomenon others described. My camera never spun around, when I entered a room I was always facing the same compass direction as when I left the previous room, and the way behind me was never blocked by rocks. Perhaps I just never found the teleport room. Based on my experience and what others have documented, I suspect that the size limit of the maze must be strictly less than 100 rooms. It took me just about an hour to map out the place and find all 5 orbs and all 5 runes, then maybe another 15 minutes to hit each orb and rune pair. I left all the orbs and runes in place until I had discovered the last one. As the only real landmarks, they are enormously helpful to mapping.
Be diligent with your mapping and you'll eventually discover all 10 rooms of interest. Don't let your intuition about navigating mazes screw you up. Good luck and have fun!

wanted to add that at the end of Endless Halls when you've completed all the runes, it may not be apparent what to do next. If you walk out of the room you are teleported to where ye need to be to pick up the last note. had a friend hearth out instead and the runes had to be completed again when he came back. although his map stayed the same, thankfully.

For anyone having trouble with the final step of finding The Puzzler's Desire in The Pit of Criminals, the path is as follows from the entrance:
- Follow the path straight passing through Room of the Forgotten and down the hallway of the Pauper's Walk make the first right before the large room with all the "doodad doors" (or as you enter the doodad doors room hang right and take that hallway on the right it loops back then just take the path immediately downward and skip the next step).
- Hug the wall and go left at the path leading downward.
- When you enter the room with the large dirt crater go straight across to the tiny corner of water and dive in.
- Here you'll find all the hanging bodies on chains. Swim straight down and you'll see an inlet against the back wall.
- Take the left room (towards the 3 pillars) around the corner and you'll see the huge bone pile with the box on top!
Congratulations, the mount is FINALLY yours!

In order to make your map more recognizable, I recommend to use a number to label each room you have found.
Use the same number for the same room.
Using this method can help you think about how the maze looks like and enables you to make rational decisions. It can also help you to be less stressful.
1. Easy to track where you are, even if you paused for some reason.
If you want to take a break, just write down the number of your current room, and you know where you are when you are back.
2. Provides a easy way to detect loops in the maze
Be cautious when you encounter a room with 3 exits. When that happens, stop discover/drawing and write down the number of the rooms that has the same pattern. Then focus yourself on trying to find ways to prove/disprove that the new junction is or not a junction you discovered before. I discovered all of the possible loops using this method with only a minimal amount of extra drawing.
Some other tips:
If your mapping is complete or nearly complete, you can just use some geometry to locate where you are, no matter whether there is a reference object or not. Whenever you fell loss in the maze, you can just go straight in either direction until you hit a junction or corner. Then you write down the direction of the opening doors, and choose one direction to go straight until you hit another junction or corner. Write down how many rooms you have passed. Then go back to the previous room and go straight in another direction. Normally checking in 2 directions will locate you in the maze.
You can use this trick to use random portals intentionally in order to get to a place far from you that you might end up running 20+ rooms to get.
Normally you won’t take more than 3 hours to complete using this method. Just think carefully before you act, especially when you are at a junction.

After a long way of going here and there into the old maps and dungeons and new ones... and after almost 2 days of hellish torture in the final maze in the hall of secrets... i finally finished it and received my mount in forgotten crypt just this moment...
i'm not sure if really should have been this much hard... but i know one thing: this was the worst nightmare of the entire expansion... and i went through and came out the other end successful... and i never want it's memories to be repeated again !
i'm just glad i got the mount after all the hell i went through...
good luck to anyone else trying to get this mount... when you are riding it... know that you earned it more than anything else in the game !
and the fact that it ended in the forgotten crypt... a very awesome area with a great story to tell... which never had the chance to be told... was so great after this strange , creepy journey... that it almost seemed like "Westworld" in that final moment when i was looting it...
what a Great(but extremely difficult) way to give us a Great mount... !

Finished it too, hardest part being the final maze. After I saw some maze maps created here by other players, I figured it's the safest way to do it.
I did the map both for me and my girlfriend, while she was running with the characters. As you can see in the picture above, she had a pretty easy maze, while mine was a pain. All the stars represent loops. The maze was made in Adobe Illustrator. Good luck to those that haven't cracked it yet! ^^

The first six steps are explained pretty well, so I'm just going to explain the last two, since they're arguably the hardest.
What you need to understand about the Endless Halls (the Kun Lai Summit portion) is that it doesn't use the standard maze logic of "trace a path through a grid".
Rather, because it simply resets the room every time, it uses database logic: Each room is stored as individual rows of information in a database unique to each player (so the odds of two players having the same maze are ridiculously low), with each cardinal direction bearing a pointer to another row (room) in the database if the way isn't blocked. It's sort of like a Choose Your Own Adventure book: If you go north, go to page A2; if you go south, go to page X4, etc.
Why this matters, is because taking four right turns will
not
necessarily put you back where you started, but instead will put you in a room to the right of the fourth room you circled through
according to the database
, not according to the linear boundaries of Euclidean space. The genius of this is that it gives the illusion the maze goes on... endlessly.
But
, the pointers from one room to the next
do
match up, so retracing your steps will still put you back the way you came - going east and then west again
should
put you back where you started.
The best way to get around this is to draw a map for yourself, bearing in mind that not only does this building functionally have multiple floors and no indicated stairways (so be prepared with some multi-colored pens when you cross your own path, because the room will probably not be the same), but that some rooms can circle back around unexpectedly to rooms on the opposite end of the maze.
It makes the map look a little hectic
(this is just the example of my own, yours will probably be different).
The trick is to remember that there is only
one
of each colored orb and rune, and to use each of these as landmarks to figure out where the map circles around. Once you have it, you can actually start to make alternate paths and shortcuts between any two rooms. Keep your cardinal directions constant, and retrace your steps if you get lost.
Each time you match an orb and a rune, they will vanish, and you lose a landmark. For your own sanity, flush out your map
first
until you've found all 10 landmarks, and then
write out
directions for yourself from one orb to its rune to the next orb, in as simple a path to follow as you can. Otherwise you can quickly get lost between same-y looking rooms, especially if you end up distracted or turned around.
Just be patient with it, because the mapping can take a couple hours.
10/31 EDIT: So apparently the puzzle creators put out
a blog
that explained one extra detail: There is a single room in the maze that functions as a "teleportation trap", where entering the room will instead teleport you to a random room elsewhere in the maze. This is why it's important to start identifying patterns your map, so you can figure out which room this is! In my case I must have either finished locating all my puzzle pieces before I found it, or accidentally worked around it by my final walkthrough.
Bear in mind, this is also why the Lucid Nightmare Helper addon
doesn't work
- it uses standard maze logic. The addon not only sets "overlapping" rooms beside one another, but it only allows you to mark each orb/rune once (overwriting previous markers each time), and is not intelligent enough to understand where a pathway loops around or when a pattern forms. It won't even mark which directions each room allows - it just numbers them, so you'd have to memorize a key anyway! Save yourself the hassle,
draw your own map.
Oh, and don't use your mouse to go forward fresh out of the gate. The camera will sometimes swing around when you enter a room (since it basically teleports you to the opposite side of the same room), so running with your mouse will sometimes cause you to turn around without meaning to before the next room's loaded.
Funnily enough, I hearthed out, logged out, took a crack at it the next day and I had exactly the same maze (just with all the orbs and runes reset) - so your maze shouldn't ever change on you, just reset to its starting conditions if you leave and come back.
10/31 EDIT: Either this was patched or the devs' information was outdated by the time I took a crack at it, but the aforementioned blog contradicts this statement. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Once you've completed all 5 pairs, doesn't matter what direction you pick, the next room you walk into will send you to your last note. You can choose to hearth out, or you can explore around; there are stairs around the back that will deposit you out a drain pipe in the Valley of the Four Winds.
I honestly spent probably an hour just looking around the Forgotten Crypt for the final box, since all the guides just say "head to the Crypt and look around." It's not particularly difficult when you compare it to the previous step, but it's at least more tedious than any of the others just because of all of the extra rooms and false passages.
When you get to the Forgotten Crypt (behind Karazhan, next to the pet trainer Lydia Accoste), your goal is to find the Pit of Criminals, which is at the lowest point of the crypt.
When you enter, follow the northern path (right) at the first fork, then turn south (left) at the second fork down the spiraling path that goes further down;
do not
fall for the trick of running west into the sandy maze of gated rooms, there's nothing of value behind any of the gates in this Crypt. (If you find yourself there, just head back to the entrance of the room, take the northernmost exit on the east wall, and follow that path south at the first fork.)
When you make it to the next empty room on the floor below (there are dirt mounds in the center and nothing else), you have two options:
Turn immediately south. When you reach the gates along the east wall, do not enter them; instead, jump into the pit in front of them into the Tome of the Repentant; the water below is too shallow to reduce fall damage, but it's not a high drop. Once you land, run west out into the adjacent hallway, stopping before the ramp into the water.
OR
Cross the room to the southwest till you reach the Upside-down Sinners. Enter the water, then swim all the way DOWN, not across. At the bottom of the pool is a tunnel in the eastern wall; follow it and surface in the hallway, but stop before the double archway.
Either way you'll end up in a short hallway. Just follow it north and turn right at the wooden support beams to reach the Pit of Criminals; your prize is on top of the bone pile.
Unfortunately, the stairway in that room leads to a dead end. If you don't want to teleport out, just head back to the hallway, down the ramp, swim up the Upside-down Sinners and make your way back out.

Here are a few hints and facts about the endless hall maze. Once i figured out how it works i managed to finish it with only 91 rooms in second try.
1. Each opject (Orb and altar) are only once in the maze!
2. There are no floors!
(One of the gates may look like there are stairs, but that doesn't mean you go up or down. Each path you can take in a room is a portal.)
3. Because of #2 there seem to be rooms acting as bridges, but actually they generate loops in the maze.
With this three facts you need to imagine the whole maze as a big ring with a few rings attached to it or even better a complex molecule. The big ring connects the main-rooms with the orbs and altars.
The additional rings that generate the loops are most offen attached to the main rooms with at least one entrance/exit or with both entrance and exit.
So, how to beat the maze now?
Very simple: DON'T TAKE THE OBJECTIVES!
They work as your landmarks.

Simply start to run through the maze and always take as many different ways from one room as possible to see if they are really combined or if it is a "bridge" (Yes you have to go back and forth a couple of times)
Every time you find an objective the second time you stop your map there, go back and take a nother path until you have found all of the objectives.
Now you can simply walk your way back and collect all of them.
Why not just take the objectives right away?
As i said they are your landmarks, the only think in the maze that looks different in the rooms and can help you orientate yourself.
If you take the them away, you'll end up with rooms looking all the same and then you get stuck in the loops, because you will never find any hint in which path you are in at the moment.
I hope this will help a few of you and i hope it was understandable (espcially because this is my first post and i am not a native english speaker)

Tip Number ONE is Have Patience
Use the Lucid Nightmare Helper Add-on .. works perfectly.
As I have noticed the best way is if u find an orb take it and as soon as you find its matching rune place and finish. so that you will not see the same color again and again. If in case you have found another orb while carrying a different one already mark it so that you can come back to it when ever the matching rune is found.
But put in mind as soon as you find an orb and a matching rune mark and match
. It doesn't reset. I spend more than 2 hours and it didn't.
One more tip
: if you use the add-on, try not to link the rooms when the add-on asks you to link or jump. I always jumped
Last tip
: If needed always try to go back in the same line and follow your previous steps. Don't try to create shortcuts of ur own to get the previous rooms because you will be lost and the rooms when linked will confuse you.

These are two fail proof ways for anyone having trouble making maps for the maze or just wants to watch tv or movies orso while solving it.
Since the maze is different for anyone and with some bad luck you can have one that has lots of "ports" making paths on maps appear to pass under itself multiple times it can get confusing (and frustrating) really fast, not to mention making the map is very time consuming.
This trick is based on the simple fact that no matter how complicated a labyrinth/maze is if you keep following one wall you eventually come back to where you started.
Way number 1:
When you enter the maze start following the righthand wall so that means always pick the first exit you pass on the rightside (it could still be an exit to the left if that room simply has 1 exit only)
If you pass a rune first write it down if it a flame first pick it up, keep following the righthandside and
write down any flames/runes you pass in the order you pass them
untill you find the matching rune for your flame (clicking the rune should now get rid of your flame buff and remove it)
Check your list now! did you pass any matching flames and runes?
no? go to step 1
yes? go to step 2
1) Keep following the righthand side untill you find a flame/rune to complete a set (and keep writing down any others you pass!) then move to step 2
2) Exit the room the way you came in and now follow the LEFThandside untill you get back to the flame of the pair (unless you came here from step 1 then it wil be a rune) now you either have to keep following the lefthandside if your matching rune is earlier on your list then the flame OR turn around exit the room the way you came in and follow the righthand side again.
Just keep repeating this following either the left or right side wall depending on where the rune/flame is you need on your list (rune/flame you need higher on the list then where you are you folow the lefthandside if it lower on your list you follow the righthandside.
Way number 2
This is if you just want to watch tv/movies while doing it and dont nessesairly want to do it fast or way 1 to complicated.
Again follow the righthand side pick up the first flame you see and just keep following the righthand side untill you get your matching rune but this time just keep following the righthand side untill you pick up a new flame and just keep following right untill you get that rune, it much slower since there the chance you be making multiple full laps around the maze but all you have to do is follow the wall and match flames/runes while you pass them.

As you enter the maze summon you pet and as you start going through the doors you will see the green glow fading into in the door you just came through, the pets cant keep up with you since your running around the maze and that pet lag assists you in showing you what door you just entered. If you don't see the glow from the pet thats the door you go through, unless its the only door in the room. DO NOT TURN AROUND! If you only have one door in front of you and you see your pets glow go through the door. I noticed that it would do this about 4 times in a row before you would see a 2nd door ( no pet glow ) then you go through the new door.
LOOKING FOR THE GLOW WILL STOP YOU FROM GOING IN CIRCLES!
Took me 46 minutes to complete the maze. Good Luck!

A couple of notes about my experience:
After killing c'thun run out of the room by the other door and up the stairs and that is the location of the mind worm. There is another table in the room with the boss which is not the one you want. I wasted some time wondering why there was no larva on the table.
I used the add on lucid nightmare helper and it is pretty useful to prevent yourself going in circles; however, given that the maze changes because of zoning or whatever you may go back to a room that you know contains a rune and find it is no longer there.
Some basic maze theory is that if you always go a certain way you will explore the whole thing. For example go always left and sooner or later you will hit a spot where you must turn around. Now that you are going back the way you came all the doors you haven't explored are on the left so keep choosing left and you will trace the whole thing out. Using this basic theory and the markers from the add on I got it done in 1hr 50 min with a few short breaks.
Once you get to the end and go to dead wind pass, the entrance to the room containing the chest with the mount is underwater in the pit of upside down sinners. gl

I really really wish they would make this flying. It's such a beautiful animal. I love riding it, but I would love flying with it a lot more.
Also,I didn't do any maps or whatnot for the maze...I just kept running around till it was done. Took about 4 hours in the maze. Put on some BC soundtrack playlist on Youtube and had fun.

For those struggling with the C'Thun.
TL;DR Be sure you avoid clearing the tentacles at all cost and get a marker at the bottom of each column
This puzzle took me longer than I care to admit. Look at the floor below the puzzle. You will have a marker for each column there. The best I could figure is to avoid matching the tentacles at all costs since it clears those markers. Any other matches don't hurt it. The brains and void (purple guys) increase the intensity of the color on the floor. The red guys have no effect. Good luck!

I've read that the "1000 years imprisoned. Surely it wears on the mind." is a reference to C'Thun, who was imprisoned for 1000 years, and that leads to Ahn'Qiraj.
That's actually false. This is a case of "right for the wrong reasons".
The hint actually makes reference to the qiraji. The War of the Shifting Sands (which, according to the Chronicles, happened about 1000 years before WoW) ended with the creation of Scarab Wall which sealed all of the qiraji on the other side, pretty much leaving them imprisoned. It wasn't until vanilla WoW (1000 years later, according to the lore) that the Scarab Wall was opened again.
For somebody who only cares about getting the mount, all I've said is completely irrelevant, since being a reference to the qiraji still leads to the same place. However, for somebody who cares about the lore, the current walkthrough can be confusing, since it gives the wrong assumption that C'Thun got free 1000 years after the Titans imprisoned him, when he actuallly was imprisoned for
much
more than 1000 years.

Finally got mine and used the addon for the maze. i cleared 4 colours in quick order (about 1 hr) and had the orb for the 5th looking for the final rune (which was hidden down a dead end path and hard to relocate) - During this I located a 2nd yellow rune room! (it was the first one i did in the first 15 mins and despawned like the rest, thus the ASSUMPTION that there is only 1 rune per orb is completely wrong - or it was a bug idk.
WIth the addon + the knowledge that the maze is 8x8 (which is correct - btw) I was able to predict a portal on a 9th room, so long as i was traveling in the same direction for 9+ rooms - effectively looping the map - so used this to my advantage and looked for relationships between orb rooms / rune rooms and the spaces between them. Rather then erase the map - i kept it going and used the 'older' part of the map as a reference. This meant i was able to add colours of orbs+ runes to rooms even after i turned them in (again as reference).
As a rule i would only go straight ahead till blocked then only turn right untill proven that i was looping or blocked. On on the addon if i had a branching room i would mark it on the map as a singular room in the wrong direction, so when i looped i had a way to double back and change course.
GL HF and BIG thanks to the addon writers for this one - saved me a ton of graph paper!

When you enter a room that has fire use the top color coded icon to mark the room same deal for the runes except use the bottom rune icon. Then continue searching until you find ALL 10 items.
First attempt I tried for 3 hours and looted the first fire I found (never saw another fire) I also used the add-on and cross paths all the time and was going no where in that time I found 1 fire and 3 runes. Researched tips that others had and one guy recommended always turning the same direction when cant continue straight. That was the best advise I found!
IMO what worked best for me is to combine everybody's tips. Here is a summary of what..
1) enter Endless Halls type

to enable the helper
2) Start walking and mark the rooms as you find them with the proper icon. Continue searching until everything is marked. I found the orbs SEVERAL times and marked every single one and discovered a loops. Don't cross your path when ever possible. Only walk straight and turned same direction. If you get ported (entrance you just went through is now blocked) stop and draw on the grid only the items you have located also mark the room with the port so you will avoid that room again. As a check when I found a pattern I back traced from a known point to point. This was the only data that I bothered to write down.
3) Clear map at known point (see pic 2 )and start the process mapping grid to the helper. So my 3rd and final attempt to find the last item I explored along the known path walking about 6 rooms each way and the final green fire was just blocks away. Took me about 2 hours this way in the end I found 2 different loops and 1 doorway that was one way. By mapping the common paths on the loops I was able to combine 2 maps into a single complete map!

I'm dyslexic and trying to map endless halls is killing me. What finally seems to be working is using the lucid nightmare helper addon AND making an outside map. Basically:
Open the lucid nightmare helper and walk around until you find a landmark.
Reset lucid nightmare helper then mark what's in the room you're currently in.
Walk around until you find another landmark.
Copy the path from the first landmark to the second from lucid nightmare helper to your outside grid map.
Reset lucid nightmare helper, repeat until you've found everything.
If there's space on your map to mark down the new route without overlapping an existing route, great. If not, start a new section to keep routes from crossing or teleport sections from being confusing.
It's probably not the most efficient method but if you're having as hard of a time of it for whatever reason as I was it might be a method to consider.

LONG STORY SHORT if you turn in an orb, the orb will not reset, however the rune will respawn at some point. Don't waste time looking for missing orb.
My 2 cents on the maze.
Half way through my first run, I picked up a green orb and placed it on green rune. I then thought I messed up my map because I didn't read about the fact that the maze has rooms that will teleport you to one of 2-3 random locations on the map (really annoying). So I used hearth to get out.
I then quickly ran back to the location, clicked the urn, ported into the maze (thinking it would be a fresh run, it was NOT). On this second attempt I re-created a well marked map and was feeling good. My map had location of the 5 runes but only 4 orbs. The green orb was missing and I spent two hours looking for it. I gave up after frustration and decided to collect and place the other 4 orbs on the runes and it worked ! The green rune respawn without its companion orb really confused me.

If you get lost in Gnomeregan, you need to be on the lower level of the Launch Bay. If you bring up your
Launch Bay map
, you want to be in the hallway between it and the Engineering Lab. The numerical consoles are in the shadow against the inner wall.

Going through the Endless Halls as a hunter, it is unclear as to wether you can track teleport spots based on if your pet enters the room next to you or spawns across the room. After a good bit of back and forth, it does not appear consistent, so I advise against taking it into account.

I have just got mine. The whole process is relatively easy until you have to place 5 orbs on the altars. The last step took me roughly 3 hours. Everything went extremely smoothly (I found all of the orbs within the space of 25 minutes), but the struggle began with the red one. Over 600 rooms to find the red altar. Well.. Definetely takes an effort.

Only a couple of comments after the brilliant help on this quest already on this page.
Jewel Game: while it would be nice to get a 5 in a row, just keep matching your 3s and 4s and you'll finish. Hard to be patient as there's no score apparent. Not sure if it was a left or right click, but hold down a mouse button and turn and the map should spin around with you so you're looking towards the doorway and not at risk of resetting the game by accidentally hitting the glowing bug again.
Nightmare Tumor: just in case you don't have coords; the Nightmare Tumor is in the hut that Wraithtalon circles in Val'shara, southeast of Shals'nir. You're not just turning the lines blue, you're going to make 4 separate shapes with blue outlines. Recommend swiveling your viewpoint, I did half of my untangling from the back of the image.
Definitely recommend getting the Lucid Nightmare Helper addon for Tomb of Secrets/Endless halls - it has an option to ignore/skip over rooms that you don't need, but don't choose this option as you can cut yourself off from a room you need to go back through. The addon also enables you to mark rooms with the colour of the altar or flame. Recommend that as soon as you find a room with a candlestick/flame, click on the candlestick, colour the room using the addon button, then move on until you find an altar with the same colour sigil as your 'aura' from the candlestick. Also, as soon as you find a room with an altar that has a sigil on it, mark that room with its colour and move on until you find the corresponding candlestick. In other words, as I moved around I was able to colour code the rooms at the same time as looking for the right coloured altar.

Fantastic guide from the OP - my only irk being, there's no real information for the last portion other than "The Puzzler's Desire is found in The Pit of Criminals," which I assumed meant it was easy to find. I spent a good 45 minutes in there alone just running around trying to find the mount.
I found it eventually from just mindlessly running around, but to save anyone else the frustration as everybody is kinda drained from the maze, you can find a video guide

The problem with the Endless Halls was that going back the same route wouldn't lead you to the same room... So all in all it was often more of guessing than actual mapping.

I really don't know how people were able to make maps of the final maze. Going back would often lead you to different rooms... At no point I could be sure where I was. I tried making maps but they never made any sense since very soon I'd be caught in some loops I wasn't aware of. I tried using the addon and make it on paper and it never helped. At start I didn't match runes and orbs (as suggested by others) but I could never find runes/orbs when I tried to get back to them. In the end I did it in 2 hours by roaming and matching orbs/runes as soon as possible. More of luck than skill for me.

For the maze, after reading a lot of comments, and trying a few things, I think I can glean two strategies that make sense.
If you're able to think abstractly / spatially the best option is clearly to use the Lucid Dream helper addon, or an old-fashioned pen and paper to sketch out the map.
Importantly,
for this to be most effective, you probably shouldn't turn in any of the orbs until you feel you've completed the map. They serve as important landmarks as you explore and can help you complete the map more easily.
The map seems to be 3-dimensional, it is torus wrapped, and it actually isn't that large on each floor. I got the sense that it was approximately 10x10, and possibly also 10 high. This is probably the fastest, and smartest option.
Personally, I wasn't very good at drawing the map, and kept getting myself confused. (Cue downrating and hateful comments below.) If you're like me, I found pretty good success with grabbing the orbs when I found them and just turning them in when I found the runes. You can use rules for which door to take, and you'll end up going in circles which can be helpful. Get the addon, but clear it from time to time.
For example, my map started with the purple rune, the green orb in the room to the east, and the red orb in the room to the south. I was actually able to go straight from the green room, and every 10 rooms I would be back at green. I got the sense that the maze was approximately 10x10, and I have no idea, but it seems sensible to guess that it is also possibly 10 high, though feel free to comment if you have evidence to the contrary. These three rooms made a really great landmark for when I had looped back to the beginning. I started by using Left>straight>right. Once I looped back to the purple room, I switched to right>left>straight, and so on. Just don't keep going one straight or you can fall into an infinite loop that feels like progress, but you're just looping through the same 10 rooms forever. With my turn rules, it meant I explored semi-systematically without a map.
I did use the addon to help with this 2nd strategy, but I cleared it frequently because it doesn't handle the torus wrap, or the 3d nature of the map very well.
This option is mindless, and it took me about 1 hour. When you are done, the next room you enter will take you to the scroll.
If you logout, and log back in, you are back in the starting room. (For me this was the purple rune room, with the two orbs on either side.

If you are not willing to waste at least 5 hours this and I mean waste, you feel annoyed and unfulfilled at the end of this, don't even bother. Some of the puzzles in this are needlessly time consuming.

Some observations from the maze I just completed:
-
Don't expect to find dead ends.
There are a few, but the default behaviour seems to be to loop a section of the maze over and over. You can verify you're going in the wrong direction by running in the same pattern two or three times. If you're lucky, it will loop you back to one of the altars with orbs or runes, but don't count on it. Be prepared to backtrack to a known location.

The maze often resets when you grab an orb.
I had the map down and knew my exact location with one rune left, but after finally finding the orb, my map didn't hold true anymore. (I used the Lucid Nightmare Helper addon, and I recommend you do too.) Unless you've memorized the major routes, I recommend saving your current map of the maze and start a new one any time you click one of the flames.

Runes and orbs disappear after you've used them.
I should have seen this coming, but naively assumed they'd stay around after I had paired the orbs with their runes. Nope, don't make this mistake and get lost like I did.

Give up on the idea that adjacent-looking rooms lead where you think they do.
I started out trying to draw a map on paper, but soon found rooms that broke all notions of space and time. Eventually I learned to follow patterns and not individual doorways. I recommend intentionally looking for long corridors and marking intersections, as well as noting any actual dead ends you'll find. If you don't seem to be going anywhere, return to the last known spot you're sure about, usually an orb or rune.

Decide on a central hub and work your way out from there.
The repeating patterns and unusual layout led me more than once back to where I started. Trial and error eventually taught me that the only way to make sure I've explored all rooms is to backtrack right to the beginning and pick the closest unexplored doorway I haven't been to yet. This prevents accidental loops and gives a somewhat cleaner map -- assuming it doesn't go in spirals like mine did.
Oh, and give up on using raid markers and the like to track individual rooms. All rooms are in fact the same room, only with different doorways. The only way to track your path is by drawing a map, so come prepared. Good luck!

If you are like me and forgot how to get to Deepholm, the portal is in the area north from Trade District in Stormwind for Alliance. I also had trouble reading the Gnomeregan map. The map that's in the top post seems to be back to front, and instead of going northeast, I was going southwest in the instance.
For the
Endless Rooms
, I want to put my own two cents down as I found this strategy worked for me. The rooms lack distinguishing features and that's what made this part of the puzzle hard. If you are drawing a map, I suggest you note down where the colour candelabras are and where the runes are. It is possible for you to backtrack and match the orb to the rune. When you get to the map's corner, you will only be able to either turn left or right after you enter the room. Walk through the doorways and mark the rooms you past as you go. You can also make note of the exits that are available on your map and come back if you hit a dead end. There are only five colours to match: blue, purple, yellow, green and red. After you map the rooms, the maze isn't really "endless" anymore.
The Blingtron game was quite messy as well. If you find it difficult to solve, you can reset it and do another one.
The Forgotten Crypt's entrance is at Morgan's Plot, it is on the right of the pet trainer in Deadwind Pass. I tried the little doors in the crypt, and you can open all the doors and go into the individual rooms. It's quite funny because when you click on the doors they say "DoodadwroughtIrondoor_01". The Upsidedown Sinners looks very disturbing.

If you're getting lost in the maze, NO, you're not losing your mind, it's just been confirmed by Blizz that yes, you can get randomly teleported to another section of maze. They call it the Teleportation Trap - and suggest avoiding that room once located (as if you could tell where it was)
This is just PURE EVIL - that maze was hard enough without random teleports. (it explains quite a lot about my map....)

. Devs admitted the random creation of the maze on a per-character basis made some mazes MUCH harder than others.
I suppose the silver lining is, if your maze is too hard, you can try again the next day with a different maze that may be easier....
It's been mentioned before, but I strongly suggest
leaving all orbs where they are
until you have all their locations mapped out, as these are the
only landmarks
you have to distinguish rooms. (I tried dropping a toy to mark a room....it showed up in every single room for the next hour....)

Did endless halls without the addon. It's time consuming but relatively simple if you
write
a map instead of trying to draw it.
Don't click anything until you've found all 10 parts.
Use the minimap to find north, south, etc. If you get ported and flipped around, use the minimap to reorient yourself.
Keep track of the doors you go through by direction: N, N, N, E would be north 3x, then east
From the starting room, pick a direction (say north) and keep going in that direction until you either hit rubble or find a rune/orb. You're looking for your first "landmark". If you hit rubble, turn then keep going straight. Repeat until you find a landmark.
Relog, use your directions from the starting room to find your initial landmark again.
Once you're confident you can locate your first landmark, start in that room (or the beginning again) and hunt for a second landmark.
My "map" looked like this:

Listing the directions makes it easy to spot patterns.
To backtrack, just reverse directions. N N W becomes E S S.
If you enter a room with multiple exits, peek through the doors in the directions you aren't going. I found runes/orbs that way I almost skipped over.
Relog to beginning whenever your path becomes too long or you hit a teleport or dead end.
Use shorter paths if you find them.
Use your map to track doors you haven't used. For example, if you go north 4 times and come to a room where you can choose either north or east, mark your map to remember where you could have gone another direction. Try the alternate path when you relog.
Once you've found all orbs and runes, start working on the ones farthest along your paths so that you can continue to use closer landmarks. I held green for last, and was easily able to navigate through the rooms where the blue and yellow orbs used to be, all the way to the green rune.
Once I started clicking orbs, I never relogged to the beginning, only backtracked. I don't know if relogging resets your progress, but I wasn't about to chance it.

At the last part (Endless Halls) I went through around ~360 rooms.
I tried using addons and helpers, but I just gave up and ran like a madman for 3 hours.
Finally got it though. Don't give up!

Tip for the maze:
Use the same tactic you should (could) use in a maze in real life: keep 1 hand on the wall.
It took me 40 minutes to complete by sticking to that method.
Can't go right? Go forward. Can't go forward? Go left.
I just picked up the first orb I saw and kept going like that. If the matching run was nearby, just backtrack using the opposite tactic and then continue as normal.
Edit: I didn't draw a map or used addons for it.

Protip for the last puzzle: after you find orb, think "L" shape, usually backtracking for corresponding coloured rune. Obviously, this won't apply to all instances, but its the pattern I noticed while completing the puzzle on a Monday, North America servers (since puzzle ID's are character/server specific).

Just a quick few tips that helped me while going through the maze~
Consistency
- there are a few things that stay consistent that may help you as well as it did me when determining loops and boundaries.
1.) If there's a wall blocked off, the connecting room on the other side of the wall will also have that same connecting wall blocked off. This means that by going to the conjoining room, if you see the shared wall is blocked off, then that path is
-probably-
safe to travel to and from. Say the room to the left is blocked, so you go north, west, and then south so you're now in that connecting room. The connecting wall that was blocked in your first room should still be blocked in this room. If it isn't, there was a loop or a teleportation and you're not where you were supposed to be. Remember/mark the area as being "inconsistant" and see if any other adjacent rooms are also inconsistent - this may be an edge of the 8X8 border that's looping you to another section of the maze.
2.) Backtracking.
This will save your life
. As dumb as it sounds, it's far more consistent backtracking 6 rooms to get to a room that "should" be 2 away on your map if you absolutely need to get back there. As far as I discovered, even if you're teleported to a different section of the map, backtracking takes you back. If there's EVER an inconsistency between a room and your map, backtrack to a known area and search around the inconsistency. There may be a wall that's blocked on one side but open on the other - this is a sign of looping or teleporting. There may be far more than 8 rooms going in one direction - this means there's a loop. No, you did not just walk 6 rooms east, one north, then keep going east for another 8. There was a loop and you're somewhere else now. Remember/mark the area and backtrack to a known place.
3.)
The maze is 8x8
. Period. End of story. That's 64 rooms and at least 8 of them have either an orb or a rune in them. Just because a room has a north and an east open does not mean you aren't at the far northeast of the map and you're at the very corner. It just means that those 2 paths will loop to some different side of the maze. Inconsistencies are good at describing the edges of the map. If there's a wall on the east side of the room, there better be the exact same wall on the west side of the room on the other side. If not, remember/mark it and move towards a connecting room to see if it's the same. You may find multiple inconsistencies that follow a certain line across the map. This is the border. You pass the line and you get warped somewhere else. From that line, it is 8 rooms to the other side and that's your border. What directions are open don't matter, if you're 8 spaces away from your proven inconsistency line, you're at the edge and proceeding will loop you. Find 2 inconsistency borders, one vertical and one horizontal, and you'll have your full 8x8 grid mapped out for you.
3.5) Going east in into a doorway will mean you're coming from the westward direction in the other room. This is good for when you're looping at an edge and part of your grid is filled out but you're trying to find where you loop to. If you suspect you've warped and you can only go west for 3 rooms, check your map. Is there an unexplored area with 3 open spaces that can go east? If you suspect you loop and can go north twice, is there an area of your map that you know you can't go north from? It seems confusing to explain it, but just count rooms. If you can go 3 rooms east, you obviously didn't warp into the 1 undiscovered room with a wall in the west of the room next to it.
Landmarks
You start out with 8 landmarks given to you. You can either fully flesh out the map before using those landmarks or you can do what I accidentally did and turn them in the instant I found them. Remember that you don't just have those 8 orbs/runes to guide you. You have walls. If you have a southeast block in the room and a southwest block in the room next to it, check your map! There's only a few places they could be! Maybe after those two main blocks, your map has an area that forces you to go east for 3 rooms. Your map might also just so happen to have an area with a southeast block followed by a southwest block followed by 3 east areas. Now you know where you are without your main 8 landmarks.
The only trouble with the mapmaking is that it requires a lot of heavy reliance on your map. When the game throws you for a loop or random teleportation, you start to distrust your map because you think you did something wrong or it doesn't make sense anymore. I promise,
your map is right
. You're just in a different area, all right? Your map. Is okay. Worse case scenario, if something wrong happens, backtrack until you find a familiar area or run randomly until you find a familiar area, then work your way cautiously from there. make note of around the same place things started to go horribly wrong and see if it might just be your random warp room. See if it isn't a loop line (the border).
TLDR
1.) Walls are walls between rooms. The connecting rooms share the same wall. If a wall is on a particular side of one room but not on that connecting side of the other room, you looped. You're not in the room across from the wall.
2.) Backtracking 10 rooms is more accurate 90% of the time than going "forward" to get to the room that
should
be there.
3.) The maze is 8X8. If you find a series of rooms have inconsistencies the instant you go east of them, then it's the edge of the map and you'll loop every time. Same goes for north, south, and west.
4.) Use walls and room configurations as landmarks as well, not just your main 8. Getting used to this before you turn your orbs in will help you after you turn them in and lose those landmarks.
5.) Your map
isn't wrong
. I promise. You're somewhere else in the maze and figuring out where may be tricky, but your map isn't wrong and you didn't mark the wrong turn leading you into a world full of agony.

By far one of the most frustrating mount grinds EVER. Spent over an hour in that maze at the end. Glad that's over. Yay for a pretty mount though! :)

Just got this today. The Endlss Halls part took me about 5 1/2 hours just using the "running around blind" method. The first 4 orbs took just over two hours. It took another 3 hours, 20 minutes to just find the last orb, then about another 10 minutes to re-find the last rune (I'd been through the room at least a dozen times while looking for the orb). Some of the runes respawned after I'd done them, but none of the orbs did.
Like I said, basically just ran around blindly, but occasionally used an online die roller to decide my direction (left, right, ahead, or back if I thought I had gone through a teleportation trap) to try and break up any bad patterns I might start running in.
Cool looking mount, but sadly it uses the wind steed skeletal instead of the regular horse skeleton, so it looks a bit funny when running. But, meh...free mount.

I just finished this puzzle-line or whatever you wanna call it in I guess 8+ hours? The first parts were easy enough, just back and forth to different places. At first, I thought the Ulduar gear thing was annoying. Oh boy, was I wrong!
I first entered the Endless Halls with 100% sanity. I said to myself. "Ah man, this cannot be that bad!". After about an hours, I had managed to get all orbs to their runes without any sort of map-marking or anything to help me. The only one rune that I had never seen once before, was the purple rune. So, I grabbed myself the purple orb and got ready to search for a purple rune. That took me 6 straight hours before I even saw the purple rune once. ONCE! By that time I had already lost all sanity, I had been singing, screaming and yelling to myself for a long time. I had even started watching and listening to French songs on YouTube.
I went to take a shower, to also take a small break from the maze stuff. When I came back I saw two other people there! Man oh man was I happy to have some company!
To anyone wanting this mount; get ready for a long or short ride, it depends on how lucky you are! GOOD LUCK THOUGH!

After having gone through the entire process of obtaining this mount, I can provide my own personal experience and opinion. It seems the only problem most people encounter here, is the endless maze puzzle, every other "puzzle" is pretty easy following any guide. It only becomes a problem if you follow a guide to be frank.
When I got to the maze, I read up on a guide and watched a video on what to expect, I also downloaded (Lucid Nightmare Helper) addon. Do this! Without it, you would probably end up tripling the time it would take to complete. The addon is very neat, it maps the exact path you take and allows you to mark each room with blocked paths, table markings and orbs. I first began going through the rooms, in each one marking the blocked exits and a couple of the table markings. After about 30 rooms in and being looped back to a room I had already been in (A colour room) I realised following some "pattern" or "method" is a terrible idea. I will end up confusing myself even more and it will be more time consuming. So it may seem crazy in something like this, but just trust me and believe it, it works better than any exact way of doing it. I started to just go in random rooms making random turns, I stopped marking blocked paths because honestly? What use is that? Along the way I always picked up the orbs even if I did not know where the corresponding room will be, because what if I did come across it? Win-win.
After about 40-50 minutes of random paths and rooms, (I did mark the coloured rooms, this is essential) I ended finding all 5 orbs and 4 of the corresponding tables. Then it was just a matter of following the path that I had taken using the addon, to retrace my steps back to the orbs and tables required. Finally I was left with a blue orb and no corresponding table, for that I just continued on my crazy journey of random rooms, and within 10 minutes, I found it. So all in all, without getting crazy with pen, paper and excel like some people have suggested, simply with the addon to help retrace steps, I was done in 1 hour and 30 minutes.
In summary, I tried preparing prior with guides and motivational music, but all it took was random paths, with the help of lucid nightmare helper to retrace steps, and I was done in a jiffy. Using pen and paper and then excel? Will take you forever and it is unnecessary effort. These kinds of puzzles have no "specific" method, their meant to be done in a random fashion.
Those are just my two cents. If you read this and it helps you get along, then great!
P.S. The mount is fabulous, shame there was no feat of strength achievement associated with it! I also apologise if there were any grammar or spelling errors!

Am I the only one who thinks that was way too much work for a ground mount?
I mean I can see having puzzles, I can see having to work for it, but spending 2 hours running around the Endless Halls, only to then have to run around a dungeon they never finished?
I really don't feel like it was worth it.
OK it's a black unicorn... Cool. But it doesn't fly, and or really do anything different than any other horse type mount does...
I guess it's all just for the bragging rights.

I am not sure if I should congratulate or hate blizz/the devs for that maze. Probably both.
I love it cause its hard, I hate it cause its hard (Especially if its too twisted for a proper map or you are just not good enough or too tired to map it, I got 8 double sided sheets of paper with not much helpful mapping-parts lying around here)...
Anyway, the mount looks awesome and especially the feeling once you finally have it is just great.
Its just a shame that the Lucid Nightmare is not a flying mount (I could imagine some nice animations for that too), so it will probably currently not be that used while not in Argus/instances/raids, but that's fine. Getting it alone was worth doing imo.

When you are doing the maze in Ulduar, pull the boss to the side of the room before killing it. If you kill it in the middle of the room it will fall on the "lights" which makes it difficult to click on and see them. I was sure I had the pattern right, only to find that I had missed two under the boss, who doesn't despawn.

Just throwing in my two cents- Everything but the maze is trivial at 110+.
Tips for the Maze? If you decide to not get an addon and use a paper/pen, also use some colored marker/highlight/crayon, whatever. preferably use 4 or more colors. This is to mark the spots that connect to other parts of your drawn map as you will be drawing overlapping areas.
The Teleport room is going to mess you up, and mess up your map. And there is no way to tell when you've gone through it!
(other than room start looking different than your map)
So once you think you've found all the orbs and runes, start planning your path to connect each one, as in- find them all again. With any luck you'll be able to find the tele-room(or close enough) to avoid it. Why?
Once you start connecting orbs to runes, they dissapear and you lose them for reference, so you better know where to avoid that teleport room or you'll have nothing but whatever orbs/runes left to reference.
Plan for a few hours to do it, no seriously, it is hard.

Strategy that someone came up with for the Endless Maze:
After spending over an hour trying to painstakingly map the whole place by cutting pieces of paper, assigning each one as a room (labeling the exits and other information, plus the path I took on each), and taping them to a board (or to each other and not to the board, when the rooms overlapped each other), and then growing frustrated after running into a trap a few times... After that, this method helped me gather the remaining 4 orbs in about 30-45 minutes.
Small maps. Pick "all rights" or "all lefts". Saved me so much time, wish I had read it sooner!

solved the maze in under an houre:
when u start, pick one side and stick to it - for me that was right.
go true the rooms and stick to the right
(always take the door that's most right of you : if the right door is blocked take the next, if that one's blocked take the next and so one)
the first orb u pass, pick that up, if you find the rune to match than match it.
i know it is long and sometimes confusing but just stick to it and you will get there.
if you keep to the right you can easely backtrack by turning around and keeping to the left.
i hope this helps in reducing the time you spend in there.

In the maze.... if you connect any color orb to its rune, the rune will disappear, losing your landmark.
HOWEVER - if you are still there stuck running around quite a while later (at least 30 mins or an hour, not sure exactly) the rune will reappear in the same location to replace said landmark, based on my experience with carefully tracking multiple maps during a 5 hour stint in the maze when I was quite pleased to discover this. I think you still get credit for the orb placement if you match the rune, but I'm not sure as I didn't finish the attempt I observed this on.
Also, I'm not sure but I think the orbs won't disappear once you pick them up. You can not put them down without their rune, so click carefully.

Some things in hindsight:
1.
Ulduar, use the useful maps in other comments here (thanks a lot). I found it easier to stand on the line between two nodes and be able to click 1-6 ish at a time and then move. I found it faster than running on one at a time and and clicking.
2.
If you (like me) had cleared AQ40 for the week, when deciding to take up this nightmare; I was still able to go play the game and didn't have to wait for a reset.
3.
The Val tumour puzzle: If a node is crossed by any line you can switch them. At first I thought it was only if they were "connected next to each other", that's not the case.
4.
The Maze: If you don't use an addon and want to draw a map. Make sure you always mark rubbles or openings facing North on the map, or any other. As long as you always have a correct point of reference. I got myself into 30min of trouble when not being 100% clear with where I was.
Take your time, don't rush it. If you're not a 100% where you are or if you've marked it wrong; go back and check. It's not worth screwing it up or rushing it.
As everyone has mentioned, wait until you find them all. It will only take you like 15min after that.
When you know it was the last colour, don't freak out and cry - port once and you'll get to the scroll.

Orb not appearing with in the Endless Halls?
I've been running around for 2 and a half hours mapping out all my path and have managed to find every colour's alter however, the green orb is no where to be found....
Has anyone else had this problem?

After 2 days frigging about and getting nowhere in this maze, i installed Lucid Nightmare Helper addon. 2 hours later I finally solved it. I figured there must be 8x8x8 = 516 rooms and as the addon numbers each room as you enter it, it's just a case of carefully ticking off the numbers, jumping every time you come to a room you've been in before. I hit 344 rooms before solving. Good job this mount is acount wide tho' :-)

Got to 4/5 colors and was struggling to find the last one. Had to step away and got disconnect but due to DC I was able to find the last two colors within 5 minutes.
I used the lucid nightmare addon and looked around for as many colors that i could. I never went into 3 way splits that would lead me into another room I had already discovered, and once I maxed out the amount of colors I could find at once I would turn in as many as I could and then with the one that I couldn't find i would reset the map to that color. Be prepared to backtrack a lot to make sure you didn't teleport. Best of luck

I have collected this beautiful mount a few days ago. The guide was very helpful and so was the maze helper add on.
For the bejeweled game in aq I comlpeted by points instead of the 5 brains in a line.
Also noteworthy, on the maze whenever I found an orb and I've seen the altar, I'll turn around to dunk it before progressing. The last orb was a pain but the ones before it were not.
I think I ran for about 80 rooms until the rune appeared. I've yet to figure out how the portal rooms work but both me and my partner managed to wing it in it the end. Good luck everyone

Not sure if I'm just an idiot, or instructions unclear. I walked right past the console in Gnomer and kept going further into the Engi Labs. If you follow the red lines on the map that the top comment/guide has, you will pass the console!
Console is located in the hallway between Launch Bay and Engi Labs. When the hallway dead-ends and there is a doorway on your left, take a few steps back, the console is right next to that door. I ran around in circles in the stupid lab for 20 mins going... WHERE IS THIS STUPID THING?

The Rusty Lever in Ulduar is sticking out of the robot head halfway up, along the left edge of the scrap heap in the northwest corner of XT's room. (The images linked for the Rusty Lever elsewhere on this page are generating errors for me when I try to view them.)

As of yesterday, I too am a proud owner of this beautiful pony. I spent 5 hours in the Endless Halls and I really felt like I was losing my sanity towards the end. On several occasions today I would space out and get a really weird feeling suddenly recalling the maze. It kinda felt like the maze was real life and what was happening around me was a dream... or a nightmare... A lucid one indeed. On my way to lectures the words simply poured into my mind and I came up with this tiny little "poem" of mine. Still a beginner so don't hate on me! ^^

As of 5/8/2018 I got the pony after the torment called Endless Halls ( yes it truly Endless ) I had to restart mapping 6 times after a warp or 4! But after 2 days of trying and using the addon Nightswifty recommended.... Thanks for the advice.

I can't believe there isn't an achievement attached to this. It was literally a "nightmare" in the endless halls. I almost gave up, but I have the mount now and I'm glad I continued.

I really, really, really.... REALLY want to strangle the sadist that added the "teleportation traps" in the maze. They really had no purpose other than adding frustration and for some, an element of luck. If they made ANY indication whatsoever that you were being randomly teleported, it would have made mapping way less of a headache.

After getting stuck on the Endless Halls for hours, like so many, and having to stop for the night and start over the next day - I searched the internet for tips and suggestions and found this gem:

I tried Angelon's Endless Halls Mapping tool and the Lucid Nightmare Helper add-on, and I couldn't make heads or tails of where my route was "wrapping" around the edge of the map, or where the teleport trap was. Nightswimmer's Endless Halls Helper solves this problem - as you go along, feed it your route and click "Process Data". It will throw an error if the route doesn't compute, and then you know that you hit the trap somewhere along the way, so you can ditch that direction and start from the next special room that you find.
Ultimately, I fed it 22 "legs" of travel - that's how long it took me to find the last rune. Some of those directions were probably redundant, but I had to backtrack multiple times around the teleport trap, I could tell approximately which area of the map it was in but never managed to pinpoint it. With this tool, it only took me about 2 hours to do the map, after being stuck for 4 hours the previous day. I used Lucid Nightmare Helper concurrently for part of it, to help me visualize the directions I've yet to explore (until the Endless Halls Helper had enough information to start drawing parts of the map, instead of just showing checkmarks).

So for people having problems with the last maze. I dunno if its me being lucky but i just keept going left for 30 min straight, and that did it for me. That made backtrapping with orbs etc very easy to find!

Took about five hours to get. The lucid nightmare helper add-on is nice but the random teleport will mess with it and cause overlaps. You can sorta workaround it by only marking certain sides and when you reach a overlap mark it. Idk if that makes sense but it definitely helped when I realized that.

I ended up using all of the recommended mapping tools to chart my map. I also got EXTREMELY lucky with my teleportation trap, as it was west of the purple orb/flame, and running through it brought me back to the purple orb/flame room (a huge red flag, no pun intended!) Here's
my maps
in the end (after cleaning up the addon tracker on the far right, I had over 300 boxes and it got crazy.)
To anyone struggling, I found that using the
Lucid Nightmare Helper addon
was best used as an "in the moment" exploring tracker. It'll automatically "create" rooms for you and you can mindlessly run in a direction for a while until you hit a rune or orb room. It does, however, tend to get messy after overlapping a lot, so I'd transfer my "confirmed" route from one landmark to the next via the
Endless Map
, just to get a clearer idea of what I'd found. Plus, it's easier to look back on that map to transfer the steps to the final map (that Mathaylla mentioned in a previous comment,)
Endless Halls Helper
which will create an actual routed map for you to follow, including the confusing "edge swapping" corners, etc. I used this to track exactly where I needed to go to "solve" the puzzle (aka running an orb to a rune) and found it to be extremely helpful.
Final thoughts: The absolute hardest part of the Endless Halls is identifying the teleportation trap and recovering from it (since it'll plop you in a random, potentially unexplored, part of your map.) Otherwise, if you get lost, backtrack! Find the nearest landmark (rune/orb) and start tracking from there, even if it's a newly discovered one!

I presume you know the basics of the maze and that you've read the description of the tool. I'd like to explain some aspects of the tool with my own words.

. This is my exact maze. After assembling it I followed the paths to get the orbs & runes and nothing unexpected happened. The three white spots are uncharted (and useless) rooms. One of them is the trap.
Start by walking through the maze until you either find an orb or a rune. Write down the notation of the room, like $Y for the yellow orb. Now, while writing down the cardinal points where you leave the rooms, walk randomly around until you find another special room (doesn't matter if it's the same yellow orb room again - every new and valid path you find helps). Even walking north and directly south again would help: If you were back in the $Y room as expected, you now knew, that the path you just walked works and that the teleporter is not in the northern room. But doing it so slowly would take very long. In our example you would've maybe written:
$YENESE#B
Which means: You started at the yellow orb room, then moved
east, north, east, south, east
and then you entered the blue rune room. To make sure you didn't get teleported during your walk, you now have to go the whole route backwards.
Always do this!
So now you have to walk: #BWNWSW$Y. Your total line would be: $YENESE#BWNWSW$Y. When you successfully reach the $Y room again, you can keep the line. If you don't, throw it away or save it, because you know, that something went wrong during that route. This could help you identify the trap room (what you don't necessarily need). If your way back doesn't work, you can be sure, that you've been teleported on your way there. I always started a new line after every validated path to keep it clearly arranged.
You can now decide to keep exploring from starting point $Y or you could walk to #B again. After a few lines I already had some paths in my short term memory and some others I remembered via looking at the lines. In my case it took a bit longer than expected to have enough information to draw the map, I was a bit unlucky there. Some time in, you should have a rough idea of how many of the 10 orb/rune rooms you saw and how much you discovered around those rooms. If you notice, that you only were at #R once, then you should try to return there (you can already reconstruct your way to there by reading your notes) and explore some paths from this base. The lines you write down don't have to be connected. Let's take our example line from before:

So currently, we're sitting at $Y. You decide to go back to #B to explore from there. We don't have to write that down, because we already have noted that exact path. If you get from $Y to #B via another path: Write that down, it's new information! But it wouldn't be wrong to note the exact path again, it would only make our path collection bigger. Let's say you now start exploring from #B, find $B and get the following:

To prove your new path, you would have to walk $BEESSS#B. But on your way back you realize, that you are lost, because most probably you got teleported. After some time, you stumble across #G. Throw away your previous line starting at #B (and save it somewhere as invalid). Now just take #G as your base camp and go on:

Go on, try not do do any mistakes while writing down your directions and your map is already in the making.
Short summary of tips:
Try to find valid paths between special rooms
Save your paths where you probably got teleported (could've also been you making a mistake)
As you explore more and more, try to focus on special rooms where you did not really explore the surroundings yet
Try to deliberately explore new paths. Only follow paths you already did until you can make a change of direction
Realise, that $BWWW#GEEE$B and #GSSS#BNNN#G means, that you now know a proven path from $B to #G to #B. Not bad!

Good luck with finding the mount. Was a lot of fun, even with (or maybe because of?) this tool! It took me a bit less than 90 minutes. This included googling and understanding the tool. The normal time it takes with the tool should still be a bit less, though.

Extra tip on how to find the trap
Let's say you walk from $B to $G via $BSSSW$G. On your way back from $G to $B to prove the path you get lost. Save the way you did from $B to $G, but of course remove it from the textarea of the tool. The next time you visit $B make your way to $G again. But now try to prove the partial paths:
Start at $B. Go
south
. Go
north
(aka back). If you're at $B again: No teleport.
Go
south, south
. Go
north, north
. If you're at $B again: No teleport.
Go

. Go back

. No $B? Or wasn't

even possible? Then you've found the trap!
Write down: $BSS&T
Note: There is a tiny little chance, that you might get teleported so unluckily, that you still get the right result. Let's say you start at $Y and go
south, south
(here would be the teleport). The teleporter teleports you just one room to the south, where $G is. Now, to prove the path, you go north (teleport room again, it teleports you one room to the north), you go north again and you're back in $Y, where you started. Chances are very, very unlikely for this to happen and maybe even made impossible due to some sort of maze restrictions. I even think the teleport room only has one entrance. This would make this case impossible.

For the endless maze the only thing you need is a pen and a piece of graph paper to map it out. Don't bother with any addons. Just map it out by hand.
Don't pick up any orbs until all orbs have been located and marked on your map.
Then start with the furthest out orb and slowly work your way in to the last orb.
Using the graph paper map I completed the maze in about 90min.

I just finished this and found the maze a little annoying, but not incomprehensible. I used the map method, but instead of using Excel or drawing it out, I used Snagit editor to create my map. I used arrows to represent the rooms and the available paths from the rooms. In other words, a room was represented by arrows. The arrows were the available exit points for the room (not including the entry point). Orb and drop rooms were text, with small arrows pointing the exit points.
Roamed around (west and south) until I hit an orb or a drop, and started mapping. My basic methodology was to go West and South, mapping all the way. When I ran into an issue with duplicate rooms, I would create a new room off the map, and start mapping using that duplicate room, with a roundabout line running to the original path room.
Additionally, I marked my teleport room appropriately, and started a new map from the room I was teleported to.
I spent about an hour and a half mapping my original map, but then my map...freaked out...and I lost it. Started all over again.
Took me about 2 hours to map it out to the point where I knew where all of the drops and orbs were, and I dropped the orbs to their drop points starting from the longest path to drop the orb to the shortest path (easier to keep your whereabouts with some references).
I ended up mapping 67 rooms, including dead ends and teleports.
I ran into an issue when I only had one drop left. I got lost, and ended up in a dead end room. I made that a new map and started mapping until I got back to my last remaining drop, and continued on using my old map to complete it.
Use the map method. It takes a while, but you will succeed.

Just got the mount. Spent close to five hours in that atrocity known as the Endless Halls. The only thing I have to say is how in the hell could anybody piece all of these things together without inside information from the developers who created this abortion! Lucid Nightmare is an apt name for what you have to go through here! Were it not for Wowhead's information and the addon Lucid Nightmare Helper, I would have given up in frustration with that stupid string puzzle. The Kun-Lai bit would try the patience of a saint.
I did it, thankfully I don't need to do it again! Good luck to those who are into masochism!

Anyone else feel like this maybe should have been a Feat of Strength? I mean, Invincible is one and I know the drop rate makes it "difficult" but c'mon, that maze makes me appreciate Lucy more (I named mine that :D)

The Endless Halls was the first time in all of my years of WoW that i really had to question whether or not there's something wrong with me in order to subject myself to this stuff.
Also, either:
1. Hand draw a map - I've looked at a bunch of maps others have drawn and it's hard to be sure if it's actually a grid or not. I used an 8x8 grid anyways, like the sticky comment mentioned. Was REALLY useful until most of my grid was filled and realized rooms were starting to need to overlap. Probably needed to use a 10x10, eventually got turned around because of the block difference/overlap.
-Note: I think the maze is random for each person. Chances are, whatever maps people have uploaded will not work for you. I didn't even waste the time trying.
-(For the map i drew an 8x8 grid and numbered the top and side. In each section as i entered a room, i drew a box, an arrow pointing the direction i entered in, a circle for any available doorways, and an x for any blocked doorways. I labeled the runes/orbs as i found them, highlighted the labels as i completed them. I also drew a green line for any confirmed connecting rooms in the grid or a red line for any potentially conflicting rooms to try and avoid the "teleport" room, which i never saw any clear factor of whether or not i entered one of these so, good luck i guess?)

2. Use the Lucid add on to help track where you're going. Installed and loaded in the last hour out of sheer frustration with mapping gone wrong and was able to finish relatively painlessly.
-Note: it's really easy to get turned around when using this add on if you're trying to be calculated.. and is truly not a "mapping" tool as much as it is a "tracking/back-tracking" tool.
-I think the key is to just not over think this add on. Especially if you have been mapping for hours beforehand and instinctively want to move through the halls with purpose. You're going to find that you're often doubling-back to the same rooms over and over but in different patterns than the first time you found them. Just keep going and don't think about it lol.

I am having problem with maze, spent few hours mapping it to find out, that my teleportation room is separating my maze to three parts.
First part has Purple and Red runes and places where to hand them.
Second part has Yellow, Green and Blue places where to put runes, but only Yellow and Green runes.
Third part is having only Blue rune and I am afraid, that its one spot room, just behind teleportation room. So my only choice to is to keep running to teleportation room and trying to hit one room from 64? OMG what madman created this stupid algorithm to create this maze.
Anyone else had this problem?

This was, as a whole, one of the worst experiences I have ever had in WoW. I hate puzzles, and I *detest* dark places. But I wanted a nice mount for the void elf I am making, and this weird black unicorn fit the bill.
However, I have to say, that walking away from this, I feel shaken, and I am not at all convinced that it was worth it. The Endless Halls are
terrifying
- I can only speak for myself, but I felt like I was being chased the entire time I was in there. Obviously, there are no mobs, and no real time constraints (other than IRL exhaustion), but I had a creeping sensation the entire time I was inside that left me right on the fringes of outright panic. I can handle dungeons, but there's something about tombs and mazes that freak the living hell out of me. Basically, this place is a claustrophobe's digital hell. The only thing that was missing was music.

I hand-drew my map - partly because I didn't feel like downloading a mod, and partly because I am wanted (for whatever bizarre reason) to know what it would feel like to plot my way through this horror zone as if I was there. Unfortunately, the map was only semi useful - I was able to find most of the orbs and their receiving runes (all that was missing, in the end, was the yellow rune, and I went looking to it - orb in hand - as my final step). I was eventually able to work out where all of the objectives were longitudinally from the yellow orb room, but once I started going beyond that, I completely lost my bearing. It is possible that I repeatedly stumbled into the teleportation room - I don't know if there's a notification that you've been ported, or if it just happens randomly, but at several junctures, I would be following my map in a manner that I believed was sensible, only to stumble into a rune/orb room that shouldn't have been where it was.
By the time I entered the Forgotten Tomb outside Kara, I was practically shaking. Frankly, I never want to do anything like this in a game again. I'm too old for stress like this, and this taxed me unbelievably. Proceed with caution if you share similar fears.

Fair warning: You can in fact get RNG'd.
I used two different mapping programs and an addon and graph paper over a few hours without moving any orbs, and I am missing an orb.

You may notice an empty square and think I just need to find my way there. I have found the way in, and it's an empty dead end not unlike my red orb room.
I am pretty sure than my missing blue orb is inside the teleport trap room. Which means my options are to keep entering the teleport trap and hoping I get that 1:64 chance of being teleported into the teleport trap room, and also that it's not coded to be impossible for that to happen. Or I can wait until my maze resets, but it is nice to know this can happen before it happens to you.

I was in the Endless Halls for about 3 hours. It was definitely not an 8x8 layout like so many told me, my maze consisted of a 'straightaway' that went north-south of about 12 rooms and I had an east-west that seemed to be less than 8 rooms.
After the first hour and a half of mapping things out with paper, I enabled the addon
Lucid Nightmare Helper
(which I already had downloaded just in case), and proceeded to map things out on the addon.

I was then able to compare layouts of my progress with the maps I drew on paper earlier, and what I had figured out on the screen using the addon. I grabbed each orb and ran them to their respective runes individually. First yellow, then green, then orange, then purple. The blue orb took another hour to find simply because it was strategically placed near the trap room, which meant everytime I got close to finding the blue orb, I was teleported somewhere else.
Finally I acquired the blue orb, and got it to the rune which I had found within minutes of starting the maze.
I am reminded of movies like Cube and Hypercube which I decided to watch after visiting this literal hell. Forget the burning lake of sulfur, this would suffice as hell enough, and I was only in there for 3 hours. I feel bad for those who had to endure 5+ hours or multiple days of changing the maze. I was able to complete this in a single sitting, and the original maze.
The addon was great, you just can't mark the teleport/trap room with it, I was able to figure out that my teleport room was in the east-west 'corridor'. In the end it was thanks to the north-south 12 room straightaway that kept me sane, it was always my place to fall back to if I got lost.
So, my tips are:
1) Do not loot the orbs until you've mapped out a good chunk of the maze
2) Locate the runes and remember the rooms that surround the rune rooms
3) If you get a long 'straightaway' like I did, consisting of more than 8 rooms in a row without a block, use that as your fallback to branch out from again if you get lost.
4) You will be disappointed like I was, to learn that the Lucid Nightmare does not fly.

Just got the mount, took me all together about three hours to finish the quests, not bad for a pretty unique mount. Of course this was only possible for the amazing work that so many others have put in to solve the riddles. I could only imagine the difficulty in standing in front of them the first time with only the clues given in the scrolls. A few comments for others who might give it a try:
- In Ulduar to get to the room with the rusty lever, you actually have to fight the first boss. It seems to be obvious for the veterans, who have been there many times, but some players might not be familiar with the mechanics

. There were a few available in the auction house, but for a rather steep price. I choose to farm the pattern myself in the Searing Gorge, which took only about 10 kills of Dark Iron Steamsmiths, which was probably a lot of luck.

- The maze was of course the toughest one. After reading the comments, I choose to install a helper addon to map the dungeon. After a few tries I decided to give up to try to map the whole dungeon and treated the chambers as a linked list. Whenever I discovered an item, I remembered my way back until I found the matching one. That went pretty quick for the first three colors, took a little longer for the fourth and an hour for the last one. This strategy relies on random luck. Of course you could get stuck in a loop, so you have to change your direction randomly (which might not be really random) But with a grid of estimated 64 chambers, chances are not that bad. It saves you a lot of headaches, you can just quickly move from room to room and listen to some music.

Spent hours upon hours searching for the purple orb in the Endless Halls ... turns out it was
gated behind the teleport room
(in a dead end with the only exit being the teleport room). See my map for reference:

To solve it - I just kept doubling back to the teleport room, until it randomly ported me to a room where I could access the purple orb. Picked up the purple orb, went through the teleport room, and just solved it from there.

By far the most difficult and annoying part of the mount chain is the Endless Halls.
I tried several of the Youtube videos for help without any success but I found this tool

This was the most fun I've had in a long time! I recommend all to do it, not for the mount but for the fun of it. Took me about 10h in total. Had to redo the maze 5 times.
One thing I noticed in the maze is that I only found 3 full sets of colors (1x orb and 1x placement for orb) and 2 not full sets.
I completed the three sets and the orbs for a 4th spawned. When those got returned to it's orb pacement room it completed.
Strange...
But I'm happy! :D

Whoever came up with this needs to step on a rake. Sir/Ma'am you have some serious issues at home.
This isn't hard, but the lights, making the cogwheel gave me a migraine. 25 years using a computer, even when I did coding and web design never did it bother me once. This crap was a whole different story.
I don't have seizure issues, issues with strobe lights, etc. But I have a specific finger for whoever came up with this. At least fill in the damn grid as it goes instead of tiny lights.

Finished this crap after hours and hours in the awful maze. Found out the mount is ground only. Didn't get an achievement, and there should be an achievement for putting yourself through this headache. If the achievement gets added later, I suggest that it should be titled "F This."

day 47 in the Endless halls, water has nearly run out
food isn't doing much better, it has been 2 weeks since I

I could not find any mention of it in any of these comments, but please note:
In the Endless Halls maze, when you turn in an Orb, both the Circle and the Torches fade.
This makes both unique rooms look identical to the rest of the maze and they can no longer reliably be used as anchors to reorient yourself!
DO NOT TURN IN ANY ORBS UNTIL YOU HAVE MAPPED OUT ALL FIVE UNIQUE ROOMS!
This will save you a massive headache running into the Trap Teleport room unknowingly.

I just finished this! The maze part was nearly a deal-breaker. It took me about four hours. Most of the time trying to find that last rune. Prior to that, I thought the Ulduar part was a hassle but it was nothing compared to the maze. The mount is fantastic and well worth it! :)

This was my first attempt at any secret mount in WoW and I just wanna say Big ups to those who figured these clues out that paved the way for us. The Endless Halls was a *!@#show! I used the "Lucid Nightmare Helper" addon and that helped me immensely when it came to marking the transportation room vs the rooms that were just laid on top of each other. After 2 DCs while in the mazes, I finally got my mount! sooo purdy.

I just completed this and I have to say that I didn't like the digital mapping tools. I mapped by hand with two pieces of graph paper aligned and stacked. It helped for me to think of the maze, not as an 8x8 grid but as several 4x4 grids that may or may not be adjoined as expected. I'm pretty sure I had 2 teleport traps. I also had a long hallway(N and W turns without offshoots) that connected up with itself. The only way I identified it was because the yellow orb was at the "beginning" with the only offshoot.
I mapped using graph paper the I could kind of see through with an 8x8 grid of 3x3 blocks so I essentially had a path. I used to pieces of paper for the rooms that crossed over each other.

I failed horribly with all kinds of manual maps no matter if pen and paper, Excel or the LucidNavigatorHelper addon but with this addon I finally succeeded!
Similar to the Helper addon you have to mark the walls in every room and mark the runes once you have found them but in addition it also allows you to mark the runes. The great thing about this addon is that you do not have to worry about the map, as the addon builds and utilizes the map itself in memory and once you have marked an already existing object it automatically adjusts its map and points you to the nearest unexplored hallway. Once you have found all objects you can select any orb or rune and it will navigate you right to it. Basically, all you have to do is mark carefully and follow the instructions in chat.
The only issue is the teleporter. It does not recognise it properly and will give you directions using the teleporter room, which will obviously fail. If you know the location of the teleporter you can go around it because at one point it will calculate another way to your loaction but if you want to be on the safe side, you should go exactly the way the addon suggests right from the beginning by setting walls and always hitting the Unexplored Territory direction button afterwards (not really necessary but you want to be on the safe side!) and once you have found the teleporter room (Always look back after entering a room. If the way is blocked, you have been teleported), note down the number and direction from the previous room and completely restart the maze by zoning out. Now use exactly the same way again and once you are in the room you have noted down, just put a wall in the direction of the teleporter. Now you don't have to worry about anything anymore and just mark and follow the directions.
Alternatively, as the addon allows you to export and import your map, you can export after you have found the teleporter and edit the room leading to it by replacing the new room number with an X. I did not do this but it might save some time.
This was the map it build from my successfull run. My teleporter was in room 23 which also contained the yellow orb. Luckily I was ported right next to it again, so I could easily avoid the room and navigate around it without much hassle :

If mapping the maze isn't working out for you, try treating it like a traditional maze; just stick to the right wall and keep running, picking up an orb and sticking with it until you find the rune. Eventually, you are going to realize you've started a loop, so just make the next left and sally forth. Using this method, I was able to do both the wife and I's mazes in less than two hours (with the mother in law on FaceTime using the same method, successfully).

I just managed to get it done. Any addons and/or tools and even hand drawings did not help me. At first I tried to use paper and pen, but I couldn't get my head around the floors and teleports part, it was just taking me too long time to figure it out and make the map work for me. So in the end I just decided not to waste any more time with it and just keep running blindly, sticking to always right / always left directions. Managed to get all done but the blue and I just couldn't find it. In the end, as I was following the always right direction and was not getting anything for ages I just said to myself 'f**k it I'm going straight here,' and there it was, the last blue rune... some luck involved, but glad it's done, great looking mount.

For the maze, I definitely reccomend having pen and paper handy, cause mapping is going to be your saving grace.
I also reccomend multiple sheets of paper. This is a multi-level maze. It's hard to tell but some of the doors have stairs while others don't.
The map I worked out got very messy very quickly because i didn't realize it was multi level, and I can't guantee that all maps will be the same, otherwise I'd do up a nice, clean version to share.

Just got this mount and here's some tips for the whole process. First I'm going to start with the pre-maze tips, then do a separate section for the maze as I have a few comments on it.
Pre-maze/general tips:
Do it on a mage. Mages can teleport everywhere and will grossly cut down the time needed to go from one area to another, esp if something glitched and you need to go back. You have to go from Legion dalaran -> Old Dalaran -> Ulduar -> Ahn'qiraj -> Deepholm -> Gnomeregan -> Valsharah -> Kun Lai summit. At one point in deepholm if you don't have hearth off of CD or a portal, you're stuck there, there's no way out, no way to fly, nothing. Mages make this 100x simpler and faster
Buy the shadoweave mask first before you start this entire process. It cost me
900 gold
on a populated server.
For the ulduar lights -> do the large swath of lights that go vertically and horizontally all the way first. You can then use those as extra reference for the slightly more complicated edges. Take all the time you need, it's not possible to make this completely non-functional, you can still make it work.
Ahn'Qiraj - set the game up so you have a 5 brainer. That is 2 brains <something else> 2 brains. Then that something else can be flipped and replaced with a brain. 5 brains wins you the game and gets you the next scroll. One person recommended resetting the game by right clicking the slug until you get a 5 brain situation from the start. I didn't do this but if your luck is bad you can try it out.
Gnomeregan - if you're horde, you can portal to stonard and just fly to STV instead of waiting for the zep. Then take the teleporter to gnomeregan from STV
MAZE TIPS:
I spent way longer than I needed to trying to understand the mechanics of the addon and of the maze itself. So I'm going to offload my experience here.

When you enter the maze for the first time, load up the addon with /ln, and then LOOK which way your character arrow on the minimap is pointed. If it's down, you're facing south, if it's up you're facing North, if it's left you're facing west, and right you're facing East. I made the mistake of not seeing this and treating the way I was pointed when I loaded into the maze as "North", when in fact I was pointed South. This completely disoriented me when it came time to navigate around. So LOOK first.
ALWAYS ORIENT YOURSELF NORTH UP. This will keep you from being confused when you're both navigating and also setting the settings on your addon. Arrow up on minimap = North up.
If you mess up the directions in your addon to the point of no repair, simply reload the UI and just start from scratch in the current room you're in. If this sounds sucky, it really isn't. I screwed up 4 times because I stupidly chose to do this right before I was supposed to sleep and messed up trying to just understand the mechanics of maze and addon and had to reload the UI all those 4 times. It was smooth sailing after that.
The endless maze online version is very clear about how to label the zones you come into. If you see a blocked off pathway you can mark it as "wall/rocks" in that particular direction. The addon on the other hand is counter-intuitive. The buttons all say "No wall <direction>", where direction is East, West, North, South. If you see a wall in some direction, let's say east, you have to click the button that says "No wall East" and it'll change to "Wall on the East side". The addon basically automatically defaults to there being no walls on any side, and you click the button to say that there's a wall on that side, even if the text on that button is the opposite, it's counterintuitive. You'll know if you did it right because the little gray pathway icon linking one room to another will disappear when you click on that button. You will also know you did it right when you return to a room and the button texts change to reflect the wall situation in the room.
Explore everything
. Go in multiple directions and in each room MAKE SURE TO MARK THE WALLS IN THE ADDON. This will become invaluable when you eventually have to navigate to known waypoints.
The braziers in the middle of the room will have colored lights if it's an orb room. Hovering the mouse over the braziers will show that it's an orb item. The stones in the middle will have an aura if it's an aura room. Hovering your mouse over the aura WILL NOT show what aura it is UNLESS you have an orb on you.
Mark on the addon if the room is an orb room or an aura room.
Do not click on any orbs until you've discovered every single orb and aura
Often times when you get into a room it moves you several rooms in a particular direction. This is not a teleporter room. I ended up getting moved several rooms, and thought it was a teleporter room. It wasn't. It was a big loop in the maze that led me back one of the known points (either orb or aura). When you encounter this, try to navigate around and find your way back to a known waypoint. When you do, see if the addon has marked that known waypoint in another room. Mark the known waypoint (orb or aura) when you see it. The addon will say "are you sure this is the <waypoint>? Click again to confirm". Do so. This will now track the previous room you came from as a loop in the maze and it will be severely advantageous when you're navigating back from one waypoint to another.
If you're unsure if you got backtracked or moved around, try to navigate back to the nearest known waypoint according to the map. Takes extra time but will save you a headache in the long run
If you've discovered all the orbs and auras, stop what you're doing. There's no more labeling in the addon, there's no more exploring. It's time to wrap the maze up
You may have been taught in your childhood that the colors of the rainbow are ROY G BIV. This stands for Red Orange Yellow Green Blue Indigo Violet. Use this to help you maintain the order when you're doing the orbs. I went Red Yellow Green Blue and Violet/Purple in that order. Use the addon to help you navigate, it kept track of all the loops so it can navigate you faster than you can. It's like a GPS and as soon as you click one of the waypoints in the navigation section it will tell you in chat which way to go, follow it religiously, it knows better than you do.

LPT: The sooner you reconcile with the concept that the maze is a very tedious process that will take some time, the more sanity you'll save yourself.
The addon and external sites within the comments may help others map out the maze - they didn't really work out for me, nor did I end up finding them necessary.
As another commenter suggested: keep hugging the right wall, and you will eventually find what you're looking for.
While all classes have a speed buff within the maze, classes with additional speed boosts will have a better time-saving advantage than those who don't. I was able to complete this maze on both a Mage & Demon Hunter within a few hours total.
You CANNOT carry more than one orb at once - when you pick up a color, keep running through the maze until you find the corresponding table to turn it in.
If you are working on this with another party member - the maze is phased, and will be different for everyone. It resets daily.
Unlike the previous steps, this part does require each member to complete their respective mazes separately in order to continue moving forward.

If you get to the house in Val'sharah and the Nightmare Tumor isn't there, there is a chance you did not click on the note that spawned at your feet after inputting the code with the levers in Gnomeregan (the step before). You may have clicked on the "clickable note looking thing" on the wall above the lever machines that shows a numeric code instead. Multitasking cost me a trip back to correct this.

That number "1", is the number to increase (or decrease, only if u over did it) to form 1 2 2 2 1 7 6 5 9 7
each time you click lever up, the station adds 1 to the previous state. meaning, the first station, you do nothing.
station 1: do nothing (already the number is 1. go to station 2)
station 2: needs a 2, so you click the station and lever up once. (verify by clicking the station again. should read: The console displays a number 2. then, close the dialogue box by clicking "Goodbye".)
...
station 6: needs a 7, so you click station and lever up 6 times. (verify by clicking the station again. should read: The console displays a number 7.)

1. don't give up!
2. first thing to do is to anyhow walk till you find a rune or orb.
BUT DO NOT COMPLETE ANY PAIRS TILL YOU HAVE A RESPECTABLE MAP!
(they serve as markers on your map..)
3. start drawing map: square blocks one beside another. within the block, draw straight lines to indicate path walked. draw symbols to represent color, orb and rune.
3. yes, there is an annoying teleport room. (but in fact, the earlier you notice it, the better. AVOID! AVOID!). before you found the teleport room, always retrace back your path to make sure you have not hit the teleport room, if not, you will be very lost...
painful....... but only temporary... mount is permanent! :)

So there's a bug in the maze where if you log out after finishing a glyph, the glyph will come back but the orb will not. You *do not need* to complete these already completed glyphs again (unless you hit the daily reset, I'd assume).
I had initially intended to just brute force it, but then read about the trap room and decided to be a bit more methodical and reset my maze so I'd have those 4 points to map paths from. I didn't know if relogging would work, but since the 2 glyphs came back, I assumed it meant the entire maze reset.
I spent an embarrassingly long time looking for 2 orbs after that relog. Then thought... maybe I don't need them again, but I wasn't 100% sure which colors I'd already cleared, so I cleared the 3 I found and after leaving a room it ported me out and let me read the scroll.

In my opinion the maze was the most lengthy part.
Here is my observation:
My main goal became to map ALL of the orbs and flames. I decided not to collect anything until I had not have my map with all of them because they serve as

. That means, when I entered a new room, I registered it on the map, then went back to the previous room to make sure that I did not reach the edge or trap. It was lengthy in time because I had to backtrack more and more.
After I had all items on the map, I had to figure out how to bring the orbs to the flames because there were no straight way from an orb to its flame.
They were literally separated by a trap and/or the edge
.
Important:
Blue post: "The second main source of disorientation is the edges. They loop around, but not directly. Instead, exiting one end of the maze will send you to the other side of the maze, with an additional offset."
Do not hesitate to use this effect to reach a flame with an orb.
I finished in a couple of hours.

Whit all the tips here al lthe steps was easy. When it came to the MAZE. First attempt i did map etc but it was just way too timeconsuming so on next attempt i simply ran completley randomly around in the maze and i completed all 5 orbs in 58 min and 41 seconds.

All the images for STEP 1 were driving me nuts because I counted 19 squares in my puzzle ... yet the guides were for 20 squares.
It all clicked when I realized the squares they are using (green and black) just signify each of the lights on the map.
SO DONT TRY TO DRAW THE IMAGE in the guides, just turn the lights on and off to match each square going across.

Endless halls by far the longest and most time consuming part. Tried add-ons, hand drawn maps, map programmer and eventually just said f*ck it and brute forced it. About 1 hour 45 min for Endless Halls alone. The rest I'd say an hour max. Pretty cool puzzles and chain if you can get past the monotony of the endless halls. Would I do it again? Absolutely not. Was it worth it? Yes.

*** LUCID NIGHTMARE HELPER CAN BE USED FOR THIS STILL ***
I just completed this yesterday (Feb.21/2024), and I'll post all the steps you need to complete this successfully for yourself.
First of all, download the original Lucid Nightmare Helper addon. Someone on Curse posted a Github extension that can be used.

On the top right of the file package is a green button that says "Code". Open the dropdown menu and select "Download Zip". Extract all the files and replace the original addon files with these instead. Once inside the Endless Halls you'll need to type /Lucid to open the menu, /LM does not work.
The addon is supposed to have 5 coloured icons to mark rooms with runes, and 5 separate coloured icons to mark rooms with orbs, however I only had the icons for runes, but it's fine, it still works just as well with a slight (and easy!) modification that I will explain later.
Once you move through your first exit, the map will automatically generate a tile labelled "1", the next exit generates a tile labelled "2", etc. keep going through exits, passing through the rooms until you find either a rune or an orb. If it's a rune, just click on the coloured icon on the map to mark it, and if it's an orb do the same thing but write down what room number you're in and what colour it is. That way you'll know where to go back to when you have to carry the orbs to the matching rune, and you'll be able to tell which rooms were orbs and which were runes, since there is only one icon and no other way to differentiate.
THIS IS IMPORTANT.
There are two layers to the Endless Halls, and generally you won't know when you move to a new layer. You'll be able to tell by the colours of the tiles on the map... they will be two different shades of grey, one for either layer. The reason this is important to note is because you will most likely pass over a room you saw in the opposite layer, and when this happens the addon will give you a popup screen asking if you want to link the room or skip it. **SKIP IT** If you link it, you will have no way to get back to the previous layer and you'll waste a lot of time.
That's what happened to me, and fortunately there's an easy solution! You can just click on the "X" on the map to reset all of the tiles and start remapping fresh. It does not affect your progress if you've already carried orbs back to runes, I promise! I had already completed 2 colours, but realized I had messed up my map pretty badly, so I reset it and went on to find the remaining 3 colours of orbs/runes and finished with no issue. No matter how badly you mess up your map, there's no need to worry, simply reset it and keep going, you will eventually discover all of the orbs and runes again.
Once you've found all 5 of each, simply pick an orb and retrace your path back through the maze, following the tiles on the map to get to the matching rune. Sometimes it will be a long walk back, sometimes you might get lucky.
It took a little over 3 hours in there for me, largely because I didn't understand how the mapping worked. Once that clicked it went much smoother.
If there are any questions, or clarification needed I will be happy to help. This addon was a lifesaver, even though it wasn't quite 100% functional like the original. Still made it immensely easier in the long run. Good luck!

Maze is a bit hard.

Some rooms can be entered from one side but not the other. Even if the wall is closed from the neighbor room so keep that in mind when you are mapping.
Got the mount today. Worth the maze 10/10 times.
