General Overview
Proving Grounds allow users to select Tank, Healer, or DPS challenges. You can queue up from class trainers,
试炼教头罗敦
by the Temple of the White Tiger, or in your Garrison.
You must complete Bronze in a role before queueing for Silver.
Gear does not play much of a role in Proving Grounds success--the mobs scale up to your gear as long as you have normal dungeon gear or better.
There are three types of Challenges--Tank, Healer, and DPS.
As a tank, you must protect
织雾者司佳丽
from enemy waves. She will heal and dps
As a dps, you will be killing mobs on your own--no help. You will get a ticking bomb icon over your head and have a limited amount of time to kill each wave, noted by
计时器
.
As a healer, you get a full party of NPCs to heal:
奥术师卡凡
,
防御者鸥图
,
生存者苏立
, and
刺客阿奇
.
The mobs you fight, which all have "Illusionary" names like
大型幻影女妖
and
小型幻影侍水僧
, come out in set waves.
Gearing Rules
The gearing rules in Proving Grounds have changed in Warlords of Draenor:
The mobs scale up to your gear as long as you have normal dungeon gear or better. For maximum effectiveness, you want gear at ilvl 615 or better, but slightly below will be acceptable for silver.
Tier set bonuses are not active, and neither are extra gem sockets or tertiary stats.
Stats from flasks, enchants, and food are not reduced. You get full amounts from these in Proving Grounds.
Instance Rules
All party members automatically have all standard raid buffs, and all enemies automatically have all standard raid debuffs, regardless of whether you provide or cast them. These are categorized under the name "
Xuen's Presence
".
Flasks and food work inside Proving Grounds, but potions and all other consumables do not.
You do not need to worry about dying or taking durability while inside Proving Grounds.
Once you are ready to start, talk to
试炼教头罗敦
and select the trial you want to play. Silver takes 7 minutes.
Class Guides
While we have provided basic strategies and summarizes of each silver wave below, familiarizing yourself with your spec is the key to success. Silver does not require any complex strategies--rather, it is about being comfortable with your core abilities.

Proving Grounds: Damage
DPS Video
DPS Basic Tips
The silver damage proving ground continues where the bronze challenge left off in testing your basic damage dealing ability. The enemies here test not only your ability to use your class’s abilities in the best order, but also concepts such as positioning, movement and kiting, target priority, and area of effect damage.
This guide does not cover the details of any particular class or specialization – see wowhead’s other guides for information specific to your class! Although it will certainly help, perfect execution of your rotation is not a requirement to complete the silver challenge; it is more important to have a basic understanding of your class and the specific enemies you will face in this challenge. Gearing is not very important due to the proving grounds scaling around your gear and inactivating gems and set bonuses, however do note that gear below item level 615 (Warlords of Draenor regular dungeons) will not be scaled up. You may find it difficult to complete this challenge if your gear is significantly below this threshold.
Each wave has a variable amount of time, with the later waves tending to last longer. Some suggested strategies are proposed for later waves, but keep in mind that there are multiple viable strategies for each of these waves (and the ones mentioned are meant to be the easiest, not the most efficient).
DPS Bestiary
All enemies can be either "
Large
" or "
Small
" so far, which reflects how much health they have. In addition, the
大型幻影女妖
s exist for 5 seconds longer (more on them below).
小型幻影织珀者
and
大型幻影织珀者
Projects a slow moving, amber globule that moves towards the caster. When it hits a target, everything a short range is encased in amber and takes 50% increased damage for a brief amount of time (
琥珀宝珠
). Pets appear to be immune to being encased.
Also note that if you are standing too close to the enemy unit you will be encased too, although the radius is short enough that melee should still be able to position themselves appropriately.
The Amber-Weaver's cast itself starts facing you, is 3 seconds, and can be interrupted - although you probably do not want to interrupt it. As soon as the cast starts, a faint silhouette shows where the globule will appear, and this starting location does not change regardless of your position afterwards.
You could get the Amber-Weaver to start a cast and then run behind it to get it to trap itself, if you wish.
大型幻影秘法师
and
小型幻影秘法师
Healers. They only have one heal spell (
治疗幻影
) and it can be interrupted. They are also susceptible to most forms of crowd control and stuns.
大型幻影守卫
and
小型幻影守卫
Their mechanic is basically the same as the Sha of Fear minions in that they face a random direction and project a shield that deflects all damage from that direction (
腐蚀精华
).
Damage over time effects calculate your position for each tick, regardless of positioning when you applied it.
This is a channeled ability and there is some downtime between channels and at the start where they are vulnerable from any direction.
大型幻影杀戮者
and
小型幻影杀戮者
These enemies have no abilities and are basically glorified target dummies.
大型幻影恶棍
and
小型幻影恶棍
Low health enemies that come in packs of 6 - 18 and have no abilities.
DPS Strategy and Charts
Wave 1
Duration: 30s
小型幻影守卫
x1,
小型幻影杀戮者
x1
The first wave introduces a minimal movement requirement in the form of a
小型幻影守卫
, whom you must attack from behind. The
小型幻影杀戮者
is stationary. Both of these enemies are “Small” meaning they have less health than some enemies in later waves.
Wave 2
Duration: 40s
小型幻影杀戮者
x1,
大型幻影恶棍
x3,
小型幻影恶棍
x3
None of these enemies have any abilities, but the Varmint pack will test your ability to do area of effect damage as well as single target damage on the
小型幻影杀戮者
.
Wave 3
Duration: 35s
小型幻影杀戮者
x2,
小型幻影织珀者
x1
You must avoid the
小型幻影织珀者
’s amber globules, but you stand behind a
小型幻影杀戮者
and force the amber globules into running into them, causing them to take more damage.
Wave 4
Duration: 45s
大型幻影织珀者
x1,
大型幻影恶棍
x3 +
小型幻影恶棍
x3
Similar to Wave 2, but with an
大型幻影织珀者
in place of the Slayer. The amber globules will splash onto all of the Varmints if positioned properly, allowing extra strong area of effect damage.
Wave 5
Duration: 40s
大型幻影秘法师
x1,
小型幻影恶棍
x6
After you do a bit of damage, the
大型幻影秘法师
will start to heal and must be interrupted. The heal is significant and the
大型幻影秘法师
has a lot of health, so you may need to kill it before it casts a second time, depending on your interrupt cooldowns. Alternatively, you can crowd control the
大型幻影秘法师
.
Wave 6
Duration: 65s
大型幻影秘法师
x1,
大型幻影杀戮者
x1,
大型幻影守卫
x1
You’ve faced all of these enemy types before in different configurations, so you can apply the same concepts you learned earlier.
Wave 7
Duration: 60s
小型幻影恶棍
x2,
小型幻影织珀者
x1,
小型幻影秘法师
x1,
小型幻影守卫
x2
This is probably the most complex wave in the silver challenge. The simplest way to complete this is probably to kill the
小型幻影秘法师
first (letting the amber hit it), and then kill the guardians (again, with the help of amber), and then finishing off the
小型幻影织珀者
and two
小型幻影恶棍
in the center.
Wave 8
Duration: 65s
大型幻影秘法师
x1,
小型幻影织珀者
x2,
大型幻影杀戮者
x1
There are now two
小型幻影织珀者
s, which means you will likely have to do more movement than in the previous waves, in order to dodge the amber globules and direct them onto your enemies. Taking the
大型幻影秘法师
out first so that you have one less enemy is one possible strategy, but regardless the key here will be to minimize your movement by planning ahead.

Proving Grounds: Healer
Healer Video
Healer Basic Rules
In Proving Grounds, you act as the healer in a 5-man party consisting of you and 4 NPCs:
防御者鸥图
(Warrior tank),
生存者苏立
(Hunter),
奥术师卡凡
(Mage), and
刺客阿奇
(rogue).
You have to ensure the party survives against waves of incoming mobs that spawn based on a timer. You win when all of the mobs in the last wave are dead, and you lose immediately if any party member dies, even if it looks like the rest could have finished off the wave (Druids cannot use
复生
). In Bronze, Silver, and Gold, you are in combat continuously and cannot drink. In Endless, you have a short opportunity to drink after every 10th wave.
The NPC's are in your party and should work with all your normal UI (such as party healing frames) and spells that require raid/party targets.
Healer Bestiary
大型幻影撕裂者
,
小型幻影撕裂者
Rippers are basic melee mobs that
防御者鸥图
will pick up and tank. They have no abilities.
大型幻影虫巢咏者
,
小型幻影虫巢咏者
These frequently cast an AoE called
音波冲击
that does substantial damage to the whole party.
小型幻影虫巢咏者
s generally require you to use groupwide heals to heal off the party without spending inordinate amounts of mana.
大型幻影虫巢咏者
s can get the whole group to low HP in only a few casts, and can require heavy groupwide heals or major cooldowns.
音波冲击
can be interrupted, and
刺客阿奇
and
奥术师卡凡
will occasionally do so anytime they are DPSing a Hive-Singer. If your class has any interrupt or stun abilities, Hive-Singers are the best place to use them. It’s a difficult interrupt and not required in Silver, but if you can stop it when possible you will noticeably cut down on your healing load.
大型幻影召焰者
,
小型幻影召焰者
These have two abilities.
Immediately after spawning, they channel
熔岩喷发
, which scatters some fire patches on the ground at range. Interrupting this immediately after the cast ends (and the channel begins) will stop most of them, which is helpful since the NPC's occasionally step in them.
After that, they stand still and chaincast a
火球术
(Small) or
炎爆术
(Large) on random targets. The
小型幻影召焰者
is generally not threatening on its own, but the
大型幻影召焰者
can spike someone down in about 3 casts even with no other damage. You can see who's being targeted by Flamecallers while they cast, so if you show that information in your party frames it's a big help. The
火球术
/
炎爆术
are also interruptible, which is something you might do if there's no Hive-Singer out.
大型幻影侍水僧
,
小型幻影侍水僧
In addition to doing moderately high tank damage, Aqualytes periodically cast the
水爆弹
debuff on a random party member. It's 6 second Magic debuff that, if it expires undispelled, will explode for a large amount of damage on everyone within a small radius (roughly 10 yards) and a knockback.
In Silver, there’s only one at a time, so you should be able to dispel every cast.
Healer Strategy: Silver
Overall strategy is mostly contained in the enemy descriptions above. One overall point is that mana is relevant, and you generally cannot get by by spamming inefficient heals to address every problem. Making this easier however, is the fact that damage starts out high at the beginning of waves, and then is lower at the end of a wave when most mobs are dead. So you can use that latter time to use only your cheapest heals for a few seconds and save/regen mana.
The party will usually have the current mobs almost, but not completely, dead when the next wave spawns. As a general matter, due to the ebb and flow nature of the healing, talents that allow you do some free or very cheap healing (
) tend to be helpful, as well that talents that add cooldowns (
神圣复仇者
).
The wave-by-wave notes below will help you know what to expect, and should help you plan your cooldown use. Knowing what's coming and having a strategy makes things a lot easier. By and large, Bronze and Silver require being generally familiar with your class's healing abilities, but don’t necessarily need more detailed planning.
Also, the mobs for each wave spawn in the same place every time, so if there are certain key spawns you want to interrupt, you can remember where they show up.
Wave 1:
大型幻影撕裂者
, 0:35.
A warmup wave to start. Heal Oto.
Wave 2:
大型幻影虫巢咏者
,
小型幻影撕裂者
, 0:35.
An easier version of a Bronze wave, but don't be surprised by the Hive Singer's damage.
If you and the NPC’s don’t interrupt much and a few Hive-Singer blasts go off, it’s ok to use a major healing cooldown to top everyone off quickly.
Wave 3:
小型幻影召焰者
,
小型幻影撕裂者
, 0:40.
The introduction of the Flamecaller. A Small version isn't likely to kill someone when there's no other damage, but it's a good chance to see how they work. Notice how
熔岩喷发
has a cast and then a channel. A good habit is interrupting them just the channel starts, and then they will not cast it again.
Wave 4:
大型幻影召焰者
,
大型幻影撕裂者
, 0:50.
Now the higher-damage version of the previous wave. The Large version of the Flamecaller can kill someone with consecutive casts if you don't heal the target. If you have an indicator on your frames for who's being targeted, you can see how it helps anticipate the damage here.
Wave 5:
大型幻影撕裂者
,
小型幻影虫巢咏者
, followed by
大型幻影召焰者
, 1:00.
Wave 5 where more enemies start to get combined to test your ability to handle them at once. The
小型幻影虫巢咏者
isn't so bad on its own, but the delayed spawn
大型幻影召焰者
can be dangerous if people aren't topped off when he appears. You can use a cooldown or two here, as they should be back up during wave 8.
Wave 6:
小型幻影侍水僧
,
大型幻影撕裂者
, 0:55.
Introducing the Aqualyte. Nothing special here, this wave is just demonstrating that you need to dispel. Watch out for higher tank damage when Aqualytes are added.
Wave 7:
大型幻影侍水僧
,
小型幻影召焰者
, 1:00.
Combining the Aqualyte and a Flamecaller doesn't pose too much trouble, just don't forget to dispel while you watch the Fireballs.
Wave 8:
小型幻影虫巢咏者
,
小型幻影侍水僧
, followed by
大型幻影召焰者
,
小型幻影撕裂者
x2, 1:05.
A more intense wave than anything before to cap off Silver. Do not forget about your cooldowns; most or all should be up and they will make a big difference. Heal off the initial Hive-Singer's damage quickly, so you don't surprised by the
大型幻影召焰者
on the delayed spawn.
Wave 8 is a little chaotic, but Silver should be comfortable if you're experienced with the class. If you're not, it's good training on a variety of basic healing situations before you try move on to Heroic dungeons.
Proving Grounds: Tank
Tank Video
Tank Basic Tips
In the Tank Proving Grounds, your job is to tank waves of minions until they are all dead. You are supported by a single NPC,
织雾者司佳丽
, who serves as your sole healer and damage-dealer, and if either of you reach zero health, she unleashes a fiery blast, killing all the hostile NPC's in the room, restoring your health to full and ending the challenge.
Because
织雾者司佳丽
's healing comes only in the form of a HoT, burst damage is the most threatening aspect of the tank Proving Grounds. This means that the largest sources of burst damage, namely Ambushers, Conquerors and simply waves with a lot of adds are the biggest dangers you will face. Whenever possible, you will want talents that provide more protection against spike damage and increased self-healing.
Due to
织雾者司佳丽
's lack of direct heals, AoE CC and any form of kiting are extremely effective in handling damage coming from lots of adds. Illusionary mobs are fast enough that long-term kiting is impossible, but a quick
滚地翻
or
英勇飞跃
can stop the flow of damage for several precious seconds. Abilities that spawn NPC offtanks, such as
亡者大军
, and
白虎下凡
are also extremely helpful.
织雾者司佳丽
is unaffected by the barricades in the zone, and will re-cast her heals even if you technically LoS her.
Positioning is important, but fairly simple. Aside from Flamecallers, who will stand still and cast until interrupted, all mobs in the Tank Proving Grounds use melee and will make a beeline directly to
织雾者司佳丽
upon spawning. As such, staying fairly close to her and picking mobs up is more effective than trying to be standing by the NPC's when they spawn (exception for the Ambushers, due to their
蕉扇
which can kill her). Because her only sources of threat are a HoT and damage output, self-healing aggro can be surprisingly effective for picking up adds as they spawn.
Tank Bestiary
Aside from
织雾者司佳丽
, all NPC's appear in large and small varieties. The difference between large and small is simple: large mobs have considerably more health and do more damage than their small counterparts.
织雾者司佳丽
has 434 thousand health, and if she is brought to zero, the challenge ends. She is a member of your group, so heals like
召唤玄牛雕像
will affect her.
织雾者司佳丽
uses only one heal, a HoT that heals for 40k every 2 seconds. She will maintain 100% uptime.
If facing three or less enemies,
织雾者司佳丽
will cast
聚气爆发
into the mob with the lowest remaining percentage of health until it dies, then continue on until all are dead. When facing four or more mobs, she channels
碎玉雷霆
. Her single target damage is considerably less effective than her AoE damage, but her
碎玉雷霆
will break CC's that break on damage.
大型幻影撕裂者
,
小型幻影撕裂者
Rippers appear in every difficulty.
Rippers are simple, low-priority, and only threatening in packs.
小型幻影抢劫者
,
大型幻影抢劫者
Foragers appear in every difficulty.
Foragers are dangerous in groups with
噬咬
and should be CC'ed and dpsed down quickly.
大型幻影召焰者
,
小型幻影召焰者
Flamecallers first appear in Silver.
When Flamecallers spawn, they spew gouts of flame around the arena over 3 seconds, forming
熔岩之池
where they hit.
熔岩之池
last for 30 seconds after hitting the ground. Standing in
熔岩之池
will stack a debuff on you,
熔岩灼烧
, that burns you and increases your damage taken.
Causing mobs to walk through
熔岩之池
will burn them for significant damage as well. Make judicious use of lava to bring down mobs more quickly and get through dangerous waves.
Small mobs cast
火球术
and large mobs cast
炎爆术
.
大型幻影风卫士
,
小型幻影风卫士
Wind-Guards first appear in Silver.
Wind-Guards deal moderate damage and cast
飞翼冲击
, a knockback on a 20-second cooldown. It knocks the tank back about 20 yards and reduces threat by 99%, which generally will cause it to make a beeline toward
织雾者司佳丽
.
A quick taunt will nullify the knockback's threat reduction in most situations, but when facing multiple
小型幻影风卫士
, such as in Endless Wave 6, they can be very dangerous if you don't position yourself intelligently.
飞翼冲击
is not an AoE, so placing your back toward the center of the room and tanking near the barricades will cause them to launch you right to
织雾者司佳丽
. When they drop threat and run to her, they will wind up running right to you as well.
Tank Strategies
Training:
This challenge builds upon Bronze through more add abilities and avoidable sources of damage.
Overview:
The flamecallers on their own pose minimal threat and skillful use of lava can help you clear through waves faster. Do not be afraid to use cooldowns if you wind up walking through lava, as it hits extremely hard.
Be careful that the Wind-Guards do not knock you into any lava. Wave 8 features a mid-wave Flamecaller that can be dangerous if you're not aware, so remain alert.
Wave 1:
Initial Spawns:
大型幻影撕裂者
,
小型幻影撕裂者
Mid-Wave Spawns: None
Duration: 40 sec
Notes: Similar to Bronze, Silver starts slowly with a simple 2-add pickup wave.
Wave 2:
Initial Spawns:
大型幻影抢劫者
x 3,
小型幻影抢劫者
x 3
Mid-Wave Spawns: None
Duration: 40 sec
Notes: Again, you are eased into tanking a handful of small mobs. The
小型幻影抢劫者
's DoT debuff is the most dangerous part of the wave, and AoE CC will reduce their damage considerably.
Wave 3:
Initial Spawns:
小型幻影召焰者
,
大型幻影撕裂者
Mid-Wave Spawns: None
Duration: 40 sec
Notes: Wave 3 introduces the
小型幻影召焰者
. Tank it and the
大型幻影撕裂者
in lava and this wave is easy.
Wave 4:
Initial Spawns:
大型幻影召焰者
,
大型幻影抢劫者
x 2,
小型幻影抢劫者
x 2
Mid-Wave Spawns: None
Duration: 40 sec
Notes: This wave tests your ability to tank the enemies in lava. If you can move the
小型幻影抢劫者
through lava, they will go down quickly, but if you walk through lava yourself they will hit unnecessarily hard. Tank them in lava while staying out.
Wave 5:
Initial Spawns:
小型幻影召焰者
,
小型幻影撕裂者
x 2
Mid-Wave Spawns: (35 sec)
大型幻影抢劫者
x 3
Duration: 50 sec
Notes: The primary challenge in this wave is positioning yourself to pick up the
大型幻影抢劫者
as they spawn while staying clear of lava. Use the lava to burn the Rippers and
小型幻影召焰者
down quickly and the damage once the
大型幻影抢劫者
spawn will not be dangerous.
Wave 6:
Initial Spawns:
大型幻影风卫士
,
小型幻影撕裂者
Mid-Wave Spawns: None
Duration: 55 sec
Notes: This wave introduces the Wind-Guard. Be prepared to taunt when it knocks back.
Wave 7:
Initial Spawns:
大型幻影风卫士
,
小型幻影召焰者
,
大型幻影撕裂者
Mid-Wave Spawns: None
Duration: 60 sec
Notes: The Wind-Guard returns along with a
小型幻影召焰者
, and they can combine forces to push you into a fiery death. Make sure you don't have lava behind you and you will be just fine.
Wave 8:
Initial Spawns:
大型幻影风卫士
,
小型幻影抢劫者
x 4
Mid-Wave Spawns: (40 sec)
大型幻影召焰者
,
小型幻影撕裂者
Duration: 1:05
Notes: This wave teaches the importance of positioning and remaining aware of surroundings. The mid-wave Flamecaller can be dangerous if you are unaware, or helpful if you use it to burn down the
小型幻影抢劫者
. Always be prepared to reacquire threat once the Wind-Guard knocks back.

A line from the Gearing Rules section is a bit confusing: "Stats from flasks, enchants, and food are not reduced."
A line from the Instance Rules clears it up: "Flasks and food work inside Proving Grounds, but potions and all other consumables do not."
Would suggest removing the Gearing Rules bit, or rework it to make it obvious that flasks/enchants/foods do work.

Will you have to re-beat proving ground to run heroics if you have already earned gold/title in MoP?

Description of Illusionary Guardians reads:
"Damage over time effects calculate your position for each tick, regardless of positioning when you applied it."
So if you apply DoTs from behind Guardian's back and then move to the front for whatever reason (or the Guardian turns), your DoTs will drop due to the shield? That seems just wrong, especially in situation where you need to kite globules or deal with Banana Tossers in higher difficulties. I hope I am misunderstanding that?

Say if I am a druid (or class with multiple roles), do I need to complete all Silvers to be able to queue in multiple roles? For example I completed Silver Healer, do I need to complete Silver Tank to be able to queue as Bear tank?

Have been trying to do this with an item level of 605, couldn't get past the last wave... Came here, got furious. I've wasted an hour -.- ty for explaining though.

I have to say the silver tank one is very realistic. She stands around and whines constantly while standing in lava pools. This will be your experience in Heroics.
Being serious though, this is more of a DPS check than the silver DPS challenge. You have to be able to take these things down fast, especially the Wind-Guards. They won't leave the healer and you can't go deal with the casters until they're dead.
For those who are having difficulty with the tank one here's the way to beat it. Don't tank it. Seriously, let the healer take a pounding, just tank enough to keep her alive. You can't tank all the damage because she's an inept healer so let her do the job for you.

This is by far the hardest thing I have ever done in WoW. Seriously, this is unbelievable. Granted, its doing its job, I really am forced to focus and play my character to the best of its ability, but I think this takes it too far. I have failed this 10+ times in a row, specifically level 5 on the silver challenge for dps because of that stupid healing guy. I am a balance druid and so my interrupt doesn't last long, mix that with not being able to do loads of damage, its pretty hard. I am really frustrated with it. Dammit Blizz.

Ok. This has to be said. I've tried EVERYTHING on the healing illusions and it apparently boils down to a DPS race against them. Interrupts work, that much is true, but any other form of CC does NOT WORK. I've used the Terrorguard's Debilitate, no dice. The healer is CC'd, he's stunned, he can't do jack.. BUT HE HEALS THROUGH IT. I've checked, and did NO damage to it at all while it's Debilitated (used Shivarra's too, same situation) and yet it still heals.
So ya. Focus on that healer first and do the rest -.- cause this is BS.

I am running a ilvl 617 mage and i keep failing silver. Why? Not because I don't know how to kill everything here effectively, but because about 70% of my damage is based on Procs, which just never seem to come when i need them. This is going to cause Blizzard to lose ALOT of subs soon cause this is close to impossible, unless luck is on your side of course.

What this is plain and simple is more of the Elitism that plagues this game. Being forced to run this solo when you're going to be grouped with 4 other people in a dungeon group is bull#$%^. Thanks Blizz for killing dungeons with the same Elitist crap that keeps people from enjoying raids.

As a Fire Mage, it's seems terribly tough. Tried it around 605ish, no way. At 625 trying it again. Just spent a bunch of time... the first time made it half way through wave 7, but not so much since then. It now seems I simply can not get a proc for the first healer, so a string of Fireballs with no procs won't do it... yeah I get the Counterspell off, but then if I get no Pyro procs after that, he gets another crack at healing and Counterspell has a CD twice or three times the allowable time.
What is seriously discouraging is so many guildies laughing at me about how easy this is. NONE of whom play Mages. And the drumbeat of "role another role" keeps on a-coming.
I DID find a video of a FireMage doing it (almost no explanation, just the video). She was killing things with half or less the casts l have to make. Her character screen came up briefly at the start, hmmm, 660ish. I know it's supposed to scale, but I'd say she has crit and haste way over me, so even if the mobs had more health, she can burn em down a lot faster.
And I don't for a minute buy the whole "this teaches you how to play your character." NOTHING is really being taught, it's a simple dps race for those 20-25 with excellent reflexes, and classes that really can do big burst damage on command (I sure notice that I USED to be more than able to do big opening burst in MoP, guess it got "tuned out").

As a item level 618 Destruction Warlock who just got this on his 4th try, let me try and help some folks out. Got through the first seven stages alright, but the eighth stage took me those 4 tries to figure it out.
For Stages 1 through 7, I followed this general order of things:
1.
Kill all Large Illusionary Varmint & Small Illusionary Varmint by casting
火焰之雨
followed by
大灾变
. This should instantly kill all the Small Illusionary Varmints and will usually kill the Large Illusionary Varmints as well. If those survived, they'll only have a sliver of their health left and you can then one shot them.
2.
Kill the Illusionary Mystic. It generally takes two
混乱之箭
, one
燃烧
and a
暗影灼烧
to finish off the large ones. Using
死亡缠绕
will interrupt the heal and should be used whenever possible.
3.
Kill the Amber-Weavers. These die fairly quickly if there isn't a healer to heal them, and so just avoid the giant ball of amber and kill 'em. Guiding the Amber Globule into another NPC is recommended.
4.
Kill the Illusionary Guardians and Slayers. Slayers do nothing so they are as straightforward as it gets, and Guardians simply require you to run around to their unprotected side in order to damage them.
Stage 8. Now is where it gets fun.
1.
Have both a
恶魔传送门
and a
恶魔法阵
laid down. I personally had the Demonic Gateway set up in front of the mobs, and to their right, and the Demonic Circle behind them. This is so you can travel easier in order to avoid the amber balls.
2.
Summon either an Infernal or a Felguard. Doesn't really matter which, you just need the extra damage.
3.
When the fight begins, wait for the Amber-Weavers to cast their Amber Globule and then use your Demonic Gateway. This should put you to the right of the pack of mobs. This will force one Amber Globule to hit the Illusionary Mystic, and one to still be chasing you.
4.
You now have a few seconds where the Illusionary Mystic cannot cast a healing spell. Use your Demonic Teleport to move to where you planted your circle to avoid getting hit by the Globule right next to you. Whilst avoiding the Globule, kill the Amber Weaver to the right of the Mystic (to the right when facing the mobs from the front of the arena).
5.
You're now left with one Mystic, one Amber-Weaver, and a Slayer. Now you need to focus on killing the Mystic. You won't have to avoid the Globule anymore, because the Mystic is directly in between the Amber-Weaver and yourself.
6.
Once the Mystic is dealt with, burn down the remaining Amber-Weaver.
7.
Kill the Slayer.
REMEMBER TO DO THIS.
I got so caught up with the moving around and whatnot that I failed one time simply because I completely forgot about the Slayer.
And that's it. If done right, that should make getting this done not such a pain in your backside.

It took me 2 tries to complete this on my i625 BM Hunter. The first time I got completely overwhelmed by the floating globes. I missed the fact that they stunned you....I thought they just did damage, and I was willing to try to soak thru the damage and continue. Thus, I spent most of Wave 8 stunned, banging fruitlessly on my keyboard. The 2nd time thru I made a point to avoid the spheres and didn't get stunned once, and it was easy to complete.

Here is how I did it:
I used my hunter alt. He just hit 100, had gear ilvl 585. Did silver without any problem. Meantime I found really hard on 610 frost mage. The reason is so simple: Hunter moves 24/7. No problem to dps and move at the same time. If you have a hunter alt, even if it has a low lvl gear give a try.
Healer silver completed on restro druid around 600, and with same gear bronze tank. Than I stuck for silver tank. Needed neck, ring etc, did it on 608. With a help of this guide. I want to thank for all the help I've found here.
The key in WoD : move + dps / move + heal....

Just completed this on a Destro lock. I'm an older player with crap reflexes, so if I can do it (granted, it took about 45 tries), you can do it. If anyone tells you it is easy, that's nice. If it's not easy for you, if it's not easy for you. I had to redo all my talents, ignore mitigation, ignore self-heals, change my minion, etc. After I finish celebrating, I'm moving my mitigation and healing back to my bar and going back to Grimoire of Sacrifice. One video showed a lady using Charred Remains. I found Cataclysm did what I needed.
The early fights are subsets of later ones.I worked on not using cooldowns until desperate and getting them each done as fast as possible. I wrote down my record times next fight on a paper list and did the math. So, fight #1 took 15 seconds. Fight #5 took 38 seconds. Fight #6 which has elements of both is 1:05 seconds, so I knew I had a little time to spare. There was time to spare on all but the last one. Weirdly, because I'd broken down the fights into sub-fights, 7 and 8 were "easy" compared to the first two fights with healers. ( I never thought I'd love sap-puking bugs so much)
My self-buff, food and flask all definitely worked in there. The potion was greyed out, so I didn't waste it. At one point, my food buff had expired and I really could see the difference, so before you start, check to make sure that's all in order.
So, if you are going nuts with the healers, here's something to know - they're altruistic. I positioned myself behind the guy, got frustrated and dropped Mannoroth's Fury and Rain of Fire. The green beams were going to the vermin and not the healer. Hm. So, I would do AoE, hammer the healer, more AoE and discovered that he was so fervently healing those worthless little guys that he went down. I also did the AoE trick in the 6th fight.

Been trying to do silver on my mage and keep running out of time on phase 8, so I gave up and now trying it on my shadow priest. I am also having a hard time on him, as all the talents have changed since I played him years ago. My AOE spells have changed and I now don't know how to beat the mobs using an aoe. halo is the only aoe I see, however it is on a long cooldown and I cant burn down the rabbits fast enough to move onto the next phase. what am I missing here?

As a druid, I found the silver much harder for my bear than for my cat. Especially difficult was the 8th wave, where it appears the large illusionary flamecaller can kill the healer all by himself. So I'd get everybody else corralled and then down she would go. I finally came up with a trick that turned the tide: AFTER you pick up the small illusionary ripper at mid-wave, the next time the large illusionary wind-guard knocks you back, taunt him then immediately charge the large illusionary flamecaller. He has to die before the round ends, and the other mobs will have little health left anyhow. GL!

Destro Warlock strategy for Draenor Silver proving grounds.
I'm a mediocre warlock at best and I was having extreme issues with Phase 8 in silver. Somewhere I saw a post about someone using fear which I always forget about. Using Fear at the beginning of the last phase made it stupid easy! I can't emphasize enough how important placement is at the beginning of each phase so you are not wasting time running to where you need to be.
When phase 8 begins you'll want to make sure you place yourself in front of the slayer. The mystic will be in the center and an amber-weaver to his left and right. You'll be using the slayer as a shield for amber globules as you Focus the mystic down and then each amber-weaver one at a time. The slayer will die last.
When the phase begins all you have to do is place the slayer between yourself and either one of the amber-weavers. Then quickly fear the weaver closest to you. Do not damage him and he's not an issue for 20 seconds. While you interrupt and Burn down the mystic, the slayer will eat the globules. Once the Mystic is dead, fear one of the amber-weavers again and use the slayer to keep taking the globules. Once the first Amber-weaver is Dead switch to the feared amber-weaver and place the slayer between you to eat the globules as you safely finish him off. Then burn the slayer and you're done.

Passed this today. For other balance druids, here's a few tips:
1. The position around the inner circle at the start of the round matters. With 'South' being the vendors, you should do East, East, East, South, South, Center, South, East
2. Re-do your talents for this fight. I beat this having all of the left-hand talents, except for Mighty Bash at 75.
3. You have 2-3 good CCs here: Mighty Bash, Solar Beam, and (maybe) War Stomp, if you're a tauren. Any of these will interrupt the healer.
4. In Round 8, Starsurge/wrath/etc burn down the guy next to you (on the east side). Then kite the amber ball into the healer, the guy on the South, and lastly the last amber guy. This will both stun the healer for you, and increase DPS so you can drop folks faster. For the last guy, you'll probably need to kite the amber ball into himself just to get rid of it.
5. Don't forget to pop Heart of the Wild and/or Chosen of Elune if you need some extra DPS.

Bronze was fine. Silver up to wave 7 was also fine.

They scripted Silkari to pull mobs and not interupt, move or anything. Failing on wave 8 because she was standing in bad just makes me question this puzzle and how well it's set up more than my ability to not go splat.

This is driving me nuts. I'm a Mistweaver Monk (ilvl 613 atm), and was competently healing raids well before WoD, and now I can barely keep my Mana up (if I try any kind of fistweaving), popping teas all the time. They nerfed all the best monk healing things. I've been practicing and practicing and reading so many guides and I'm still stuck on PG silver Healing. I've tried every technique I've read, and still I'm out of cooldowns, casting time is too long for major damage, and the NPCs are so stupid they stand in the fire, and take too long to kill everything. If I try to help dps, I'm OOM and they die that way. I don't know how I'm meant to do this! The best I've managed is to get to wave 7 of 8.
I don't like to be the person who does the "OMG THEY NERFED MY CHAR!" rant, but they really, really ruined monks. I enjoyed the hybrid class, but they couldn't leave it as it was. I have to flick specs now to heal or dps, and now I'm absolutely rubbish dps, and also a rubbish healer. I used to come out quite high for healing in raids, but my healing is embarrassing now. I know they tried to even the playing field, but they went too far and being a healer is the worst job in the world now.. and on top of that I can't do HC dungeons or raids with my guild until I finish this stupid test. It's driving me mental.
It was hard enough getting to this level with awful DPS for questing, but now I can't do what I was working towards after all and it feels like a con :( Maybe I'll go back to my DK, but I really enjoyed the monk.

I probably suck, but I think Challenge mode silver is kind of unfair imo due to how punishing it is on some classes, namely, the slower ones, who have very few ways to interrupt abilities, and very slow casting times. As a 621 boomkin, I have been unable to get past stage 6 due to using Solar Beam on the healer in stage 5. I always finish 5 near the time limit due to being a slow caster and as such, I always start 6 with my only CC on cooldown, which really sets me back as the healer is able to get atleast 2 or so full heals off before i can kill him, and by that time, i could only kill 1 other mob before loosing. The only way i'm able to stand a chance is by bringing in extra abilities from my eng proff, which, imo shouldn't have to be required for me to kill mobs in time. If any fellow boomkins who have beaten proving grounds have any tips for me i'd gladly take them.
I totally understand that this gating is used to separate the wheat from the chaff, and I think that's probably for the better, but I sort of wonder if Blizzard thought about the classes with huge disadvantages. It reminds me of how Brawler's Guild is very unfriendly to melee classes.

This is so annoying, especially since you have to complete this before you can que for a heroic. My problem isn't holding aggro on my ilvl622 Guardian Druid. The healer just can't keep up plain and simple. If she was in a normal group I'd be booting her for being so bad. I've used all of my cool downs, basically keeping Savage Defense & Barkskin up at all times and she STILL can't heal me past the first few waves.

It was a hard challenge indeed, and let me tell you, that people, who passed it and say it was 'easy' and 'from 2nd try' are simply posers. They may have passed it, but for most of them it was due to sheer luck, and absolutely not because they are better. Surely there are great players who passed this challenge with 1-2 tries, but these people don't brag about it! So please, don't be mad at yourself for not winning from the 1st try!
It is not that easy!
I'm not a 'vanilla' player, and have played WoW only once in my life before - 6 years ago, so my 'reflexes' were pretty rough while I decided to raise a champ from 1 to 100 and pass the silver challenge in 590-600 ilvl items. (630-640 ilvl to pass gold)
I have failed silver around 10+ times, when I finally 'got it'. I'm not sure if Rogues (which I am) have it easier than other classes in terms of passing these trials, so please don't 'boo' me, but I passed both silver and gold with an Assassination Rogue, and can give you a few tips (if they are applicable).
There are two basic key points to remember
:
#1: Mystic (healer) must go down 1st at all costs; Never assume you can let him heal just this one time... He will heal to full health!
#2: Amber-Weaver should go down the last, and his spheres MUST be used against other enemies!
Main threat is the Mystic with his heals. What's great about him though, is that when you
脚踢
him while he's using the healing spell (Note, that healing spells have a short casting time), he won't do the next heal for quite some time, so it gives you the time to either DPS him down, or bring an 'Amber Sphere' to him.
(
Tip
: I recommend taking
肾击
with
内出血
talent to ensure you have an additional interrupt + extra damage, if you use it before the
脚踢
)
Another way of dealing with the healer (but it is more applicable to the Golden Trial, which probably no one will want to pass) is to damage other enemies with
刀扇
, until Mystic (2 in some cases, ouch) heals someone. You then switch the target to Mystic and start killing him. Point is to put the Healing spell on a cooldown, which is also pretty long and gives you some time to finish at least one of the healers (usually you have enough time to kill the healer and your
脚踢
and
肾击
should already be ready for the next fight).
All the other enemies are nothing to be afraid of in terms of spells, but you should always remember to use Amber Spheres for additional damage on them.

I'm glad that they have qualifications like this but I hope they are fair for all classes.
The qualifications are there to keep dungeons from being boring if all 5 members of the group are competent.. if any one of the 5 are incompetent a dungeon should be hard enough so the whole group fails or almost fails. If 4 manning a dungeon isn't hard it's going to be far too easy with 5 players.
I am a terrible game player in terms of eye hand coordination but I do read up on guides etc in any game I play to make sure I'm using what equipment or skills i have effectively. I think reading guides and being able to use all of a classes spells is a fair expectation
I don't need to do normal or heroic raids if I find it tedious raiding for hours on end... I like 35 minutes of challenge and then back to flying around collecting things etc. People who don't want to effectively use interrupts or actually use their cool-downs regularly don't need to do heroic dungeons.
Fairness of the test is a must though. They need to weaken the npcs or apply a buff on a class by class basis if the encounter as it is works far easier for some classes skill sets than others.
I am playing a disc priest this expansion.. I've played different classes in different expansions. It worked fine healing the silver on the disc priest.. got it the first time. I tried the gold once and didn't get it ... I'll give it another shot in a few days.

Another trying to be everything to everyone and not helping the classes. Anyone can get the same info by looking up the Proving Grounds mechanic and reading how many waves, what the bestiary is. But you have a link to the classes, and it's "how2play X class" and relates not at all with what people are selecting for their spec and talents.
Hardly a step up above clicking the links yourself; in fact, pointless.

by using thrash on the grouped small mob this allows you to take down the larger guys as by the time you are down with them a few swipes and you'll be done, as for the healers there is limited interupting abilitys ( if your a tauren druid take advantage of your warstomp) again DOTS are your friend here be patient with the healers then let the other mobs have it ( again it does hurt to circle while healer is stunned and use thrash just to get the damage going ) -
This took me 6 tries as item level 610.

What this quest revealed about WoW tactics to me is that the biggest challenge in playing any class is not how smart you are or how well you know the character abilities - but in actual fact the limitations and hindrances placed before you by the WoW Interface itself.
Number 1: "targeting". Rotating your targets using either keyboard or mouse is a fussy process - prone to mistakes. On top of that, it's also hit and miss applying your DoTs or other spells - could be a keyboard issue again (hence the sale of mechanical gaming keyboards) - but I still find many clear and deliberate attempts to apply some ability doesn't manifest - not because you made a mistake or your strategy is faulty - but because the keyboard stroke just doesn't register. And frankly managing all the buttons for the abilities you have at speed is a limitation of not having enough fingers to comfortably lie over all the action keys you need. Hence strongly encouraging you to go out a buy a special mouse and keyboard for the game.
As for the suggestion that this Proving Grounds presents any kind of proof of worthiness or game playing ability to enter Heroics - that is utter nonsense.
While there are some aspects of your class that you may learn to use in this situation, the strategy needed to defeat this challenge is particular to this instance and only this instance.
I am quite sure, while I did learn slightly expand my CC, AoE and Caster Interrupt techniques, they were only useful for the specific mechanics of this environment. Certainly, learning with stationary targets who aren't doing you damage is no good for PvP. And does it help team work? Where was the team effort?
I've been playing WoW high level content for years - and every class, every instance, every boss encounter has required adaptations. Many bosses or Rare mobs have been adapted to frustrate class features, so that ONLY team work will get them down.
So the LESSON we should all be learning from this, courtesy of Blizzard - go buy yourself a custom Keyboard/Mouse for the game - install lots of add-ons that help you see your targets better and warn you about stuff - because the WoW interface just doesn't cut it for the content they have created.
Okay if there wasn't a challenge, the game wouldn't be fun - but seriously, I'd kick that damn panda to death.

This challenge is frankly getting me to the point where I am considering stopping my WOW subscription. I have been playing WOW about 7 years now, and have mostly played hunter or caster. I have however just leveled a WW monk. With this toon I just can't complete the silver lvl dmg challange, and thus I cant get into HC dungeons. I have have managed to get ilvl 632, so according to all the comments here, on other websites, and the youtuibe movies I have seen, completing it should be a "walk in the park" and not an issue at all. But I can't get through it...
Can it be my internet connection? I have a really louzy connection, as I live far out in the countryside. On a speed test my connection manages: 2,86mbit Down and 0,2 mbit up.

Hey guys. Just smashed this 3rd try on my Prot Warrior for the Silver Tank portion. Basically my tactics were to stand next to the healer until the flame guys came. When they came out, I'd Taunt them and use Heroic Throw on them. Once it got a little faster paced, I would heroic leap to them, smack them a couple times with revenge or devastate and then charge back to the healer.
The 8th wave is the only problem I had. My solution was to use the same strat as above (Heroic Leap + Charge) but halfway through the Flame portion, I used
Vigilance
on the healer and then
Shield Wall
on myself. Went off without a hitch.
Best of luck guys! FTH!

Just finished Silver: Tank on my Brewmaster monk. I haven't seen many guides to Brewmaster, so this is what I did:
Changed my talents around. You need to have talents that will help you with this task specifically, even if the same talents are fairly useless in dungeons.
I couldn't have done it without
禅意波
(which I have never used in guild runs other than at the initial experimentation phase). I reapplied on the Mistweaver every time it went down. Also try to get a
or two off between waves. She is made out of paper and only heals herself very, very slowly.
Don't pop
玄牛下凡
until round 7 or 8. She is not strong enough to survive the fireball barrage for long, but if you get out Xuen too early he won't be ready again for the final wave.
I used
平心之环
to buy myself time if I saw she was in trouble. Your
召唤玄牛雕像
will also come into its own. She keeps attacking the spell casters, so the statue is useless there, but all the melee mobs go after it and they don't hit hard enough to take it down.
滚地翻
isn't as much your friend as you'd think, as it can easily dump you in the fire, so be careful where you use it. However as the mobs follow you everywhere it is easy to pull them through the fire with a well aimed roll.
Finally, keep an eye on your wave timer. Usually you can guess if it is safe to run after casters. Prioritise getting them down, your self healing can do everything other than splash damage easily. Every spare second is another
you can put on her between waves.

Been trying this for days and truthfully, it has taken a toll on how much I like(d) the game. Been playing for 6+ years, so I am not a noobie to the game or how it is played. I just can't interrupt enough to take down the mystic. I am not talking about the level with the amber blobs...sure, I could do it then. I am at the level where it is the mystic and the varmints in the middle. Can't get that mystic down in time. I get so close and then run out of time. Any help?

Morning. I find a pretty basic flaw in the proving ground premise. It's not the proving ground itself, but rather the fact that silver is required before one can queue for heroic dungeons. I'm a PvPr only... though we know PvE is ultimately required. In my case, I need to complete the achievement 'Stay Awhile and Listen' in order to upgrade my Tavern to level 3. The basic flaw: I can set dungeon difficulty to Heroic and walk into any dungeon, but I can not queue for them without silver proving ground. Again, I am having to spend time on something that is nearly useless to my WoW gaming experience. A bit of a vent session, I know, sorry about that. Perhaps there are enough other people in my similar situation that we may get the attention of Blizzard. Have a good one. :)

Affliction lock, ilvl 610. I think of myself as a pretty poor player all things considered and was able to beat the Silver on the 2nd try. I just pressed play on the DPS tutorial and had it playing on the opposite screen a little bit ahead of where I was.
The challenge boils down to interrupting the healers and positioning against the orb guys. I didn't interrupt the first healer the first time and that did me in. Be aware of those two things and you will be fine.

All of the guide tips and notes seem to be for ranged DPS'rs such as mages, warlocks, hunters and the like. Doubt I will ever get through silver or ever to be able to do heroic dungeons. Very dissapointing Blizzard! Been playing since 2005 but now been shut out. So sad.

OK, have many alts and generally prefer to play ranged dps. For years my main was a balance druid, my main alt was a fire mage and my alt alt (lol) was a elemental shaman. That being said, I've not been able to get through silver proving grounds on any of them (the healers get me every time). But here is the truely funny part... For giggles (after banging my head against the wall for hours) I decided to roll out my healing spec on my shaman and my druid to see how I would do. I have NEVER healed a dungeon or raid or anything. I passed bronze, with no attempt at all and silver with ease... Is blizz telling me I need to be a healer instead of dps? I'm considering it. Question, how realistic is this simulation? I've almost passed gold, I get to the last wave and run out of mana. This seems really strange to me, how I can so easily pass as a healer (who's never healed with the wrong gear) and fail so badly as dps...

Fire mage here. Hated this. They make you use more skill that you'd have to exhibit in heroics and raids, and unlike heroics and raids, one mistake means you start over. It took me twenty tries at ilvl 610. Use prismatic crystal and alternate with glyphed combustion. Make sure to buy the food they sell there; it is possible to beat it, just very time consuming. Plug away!

silver grounds is just way to hard to do the stuff you do in raids and dungeons wont be the same in proving grounds they nerfed or some type of change to make it a little easier

OMG OMG
Frost Mage here, so many times i have tried and failed, and read so many forums.
Finally i have just done silver.
talents
Ice Floes (didn't use)
Ice Barrier
Ice Ward
Greater Invisibility
Ice Nova ( you need this)
Mirror image (most definitely over rune of power just for in here)
Comet Storm
7 get the mirror image on the go
8 time warp
Get those Heirlooms on the more haste you can wear the better, haste food such as Buttered Sturgeon 125 haste
keep icy veins and ice barrier up.
I was just always running out of time on 8, so my first go on haste sped up the cast time and before i knew it done, the relief, now i can join those heroics for the Inn quests,
Saying that if only we can get groups in premade set up for heroics and people use them, can completely miss this out.
Going for gold, no chance
Good luck i know how frustrating its been

Typical "guide" styled as a be-all, end-all to every question under the sun, then sends you all over the place with helpful "links" and doesn't say anything. Wowhead is dead. I will probably find it on Reddit.

How does the ilvl scaling work here? I've read that at ilvl 630 it scales higher but how far does that go? What if your toon has ilvl 700 does it scale to that or does the scaling stop somewhere? does it use whats on you or in your bags or both, does it count the stuff in the bank? I wish Blizz would explain this stuff better!

Well after having struggled through the Silver Proving Ground on my Mage, I did it when I was ~625, but found it WAY easier to actually gear down to the absolute minimums, ~520-535. However I do have one HUGE exception with this scenario. In order to successfully complete the proving ground, you have to kite the Amber over to another NPC. This actually does damage or has some effect on the NPC it hits. At this point I am like 6/13 H-HFC and to date in every instance I've run, dungeon, raid, etc.. I have never seen an effect where the ability that I have to kite from one NPC does damage or has ANY effect on another NPC. So my question is this:
Why was this mechanic introduced in the proving ground, and basically mandated to learn, when it has absolutely no actual basis or application in game?
I understand the mechanic of kiting is needed to succeed, Doomfire, Mark of Doom, etc... but there is never an effect on an NPC. I thought for sure my first time in Skyreach, that if I kited the solar flare back on to the High Sage it might actually be helpful... But alas it just makes the middle of the room useless...

Finally completed damage silver as my windwalker monk after hours of failed attempts. Here's my strategy for this incredibly frustrating thing:
All waves -- Be sure to keep yourself buffed with Tiger Power and the enemies debuffed with Rising Sun Kick. Try to save some Tigerseye Brew stacks for when you're fighting the groups of Varmints or the Mystics, since those are the times when the damage boost will help you the most.
Wave 1 -- Very straightforward. No additional tips for this one.
Wave 2 -- Stand right on top of the Varmint that's closest to the Slayer. In this spot, your Rising Sun Kick will affect all of the enemies at once, and Spinning Crane Kick and Hurricane Strike will damage them all. This will make the Slayer much faster to finish off once the Varmints are dead. I also recommend popping Energizing Brew to facilitate your Spinning Crane Kick spamming.
Wave 3 -- Position yourself so that one of the Slayers is between you and the Amber-Weaver, and be ready to back away a bit right before the amber hits (since if you're standing too close, the amber will hit you as well). Roll across to the other Slayer after the first one dies, then kill it the same way as the first. Using Touch Of Death or Fists Of Fury to kill the Amber-Weaver will save you from needing to worry about getting hit with amber while you kill it.
Wave 4 -- Stand on the middle Varmint in the row furthest from the Amber-Weaver (so that you have a barrier of Varmints all around between you and the Amber-Weaver). Use Tiger Palm and Rising Sun Kick on the Varmint you're standing on, then Energizing Brew and Spinning Crane Kick on the rest until they're dead. Try to kill this Amber-Weaver without using Fists of Fury, so that it's not on cooldown when the next wave starts.
Wave 5 -- Use Tiger Palm and Rising Sun Kick on the Mystic, then pop Tigerseye Brew and hit it with Hurricane Strike (if you have it), then Fists Of Fury (which will interrupt its heal, if it started casting one already). Once the stun wears off, be ready with Spear Hand Strike to interrupt. Once the Mystic is dead, AoE-spam the Varmints as with previous waves.
Wave 6 -- Same strategy as the previous wave for killing the Mystic, then the Slayer and Guardian are pretty straightforward.
Wave 7 -- Position yourself so that the Mystic is between you and the Amber-Weaver, using the amber to help you kill the Mystic. As with Wave 3, be careful not to be standing too close when the amber hits, so that you don't get stunned and waste valuable time. Once the Mystic dies, use the same positioning strategy to kill the Guardian, then try to get the Amber-Weaver to hit itself with the amber so you can AoE-spam the Varmints and Amber-Weaver without worrying about getting hit.
Wave 8 -- Use Touch Of Death on one of the two Amber-Weavers ASAP! This wave is almost impossible if you don't do this, as getting hit by the amber even ONCE with both Amber-Weavers alive will result in you being stunlocked until you run out of time! With one of the Amber-Weavers dead, you can safely position yourself so that the Mystic is between you and the remaining Amber-Weaver, allowing you to kill the Mystic and then the Amber-Weaver.
Then you're done and can finally queue for random heroic dungeons! Woo!

At 618, my Demo lock struggled to get past the sixth wave until I picked up the Cataclysm and Shadowfury talents, Shadowfury being a ground targeting stun, along with trading out my Fel Imp for a Wrathguard. Remember to lead Amber Orbs into the healers as well, when they spawn with Amber Weavers, and it should be smooth sailing. Use Cataclysm on the Varmits whenever they appear, preferably at the very start of the encounter so it comes off cooldown in time for the next wave.
Spreading out the charges on Hand of Gul'dan on the shield/slayers along with Corruption and Doom usually ticked out a decent enough chunk of damage that I could leave them until last to deal with.
I panic-summoned my Terrorguard midway through the sixth wave, but if you're paying attention you probably won't need it. Summon it anyway for the last wave, just to get it over with faster. I was hit with amber on the final wave three times and I still made it through.

Ok, just got through this with my arcane mage, not way would I have managed without this guide. In addition to what's already been said, I found you absolutely need counterspell to stop the mystics getting their heal in, which allows you to wipe them out easily enough. Blink is also the way to get out of an amber blob without losing any time. I got through level 8 as follows;
Attack the first amber weaver
Get hit with the first blob
Use blink to get out of it and kill the amber weaver
Line the second amber weaver up with the mystic, mystic takes blobs, kill amber weaver
Take everything else out, leaving the mystic last with arcane blast and missiles and counterspell
As per the guide, you need to watch your mana levels and make sure you have enough at the end. I'm an older player with poor enough reflexes, so had my talents mostly passive to reduce amount of UI stuff. I normally use mirror image in PvE but for this trial Unstable magic, Incanters flow and Overpowered made life easier. Glyph of arcane explosion also makes taking out the vermin easier.

Hunter BM - did a lot of attempts, but simply couldn't out-DPS the wave 6/7, on top of dodging the amber. Thanks to this guide, slaying the Mystics / amber-weaver & getting help from the amber to kill your other guardians are the key to this fight. Finally got this today in 3 tries. Use the mechanics of the fight to win it - simple as that (with a little practice :). Keeping yourself mobile (maybe possible for ranged class) would definitely help you.
Anyway thanks for all the other helpful comments! (ilvl 663 - but it doesn't matter since it scales up to your level / buff up with flask and 125 food). Durability does occur - will let you repair with the vendor inside for 1G+.

Just completed on my Fire Mage - failed too many times to remember at 690 to 695. Since I read it levels based on your gear, I changed out my gear to be 630 and completed the first time. Also from reading comments here focused on taking out the healers first and getting the Amber orbs onto them to multiply the damage.

Here's my guide for
证明自己:青铜伤害
as I couldn't find this information elsewhere in Blizzard's original
Blue Post
and
Beginner's Guide
or the
Silver Damage
,
Gold Damage
, and
Endless Wave Damage
guides to the
试炼场
available from the Mists of Pandaria to Legion expansions.
The Challenge
: unlike for the Tank/Healer challenges, the DPS challenge for all levels has you killing mobs on your own - no help! You have a timer for each of 5 waves of adds, and if the
计时器
expires before all foes are dead, it'll explode - ending the challenge.
Against What
: the Bronze DPS level has 3 types of mob to master: i)
Guardians
, ii)
Slayers
, and iii)
Varmints
in one or more sizes i) small, ii) LARGE, and iii) *Huge*. None have any offensive abilities, and only Guardians have a defensive ability - a magical blocking shield '
正面防御
'. In brief, players have to solo both i) multi-target packs with low health points (HP) and ii) single targets with higher HP. Moreover at bronze, there are no attacks, stuns, interrupts or healing to deal with, effectively making bronze just a
试炼场
tutorial training level.
The How
: a DPS player must show an ability to burn down targets efficiently for 5 minutes, using 3 types of melee or ranged attacks: i) Damage per Second (DPS) instant single-target attacks (e.g. a Fury Warrior's
怒击
melee attack or Frost Mage's
冰枪术
ranged attack), ii) Damage over Time (DoT) (i.e. reocurring damage) single/multi-target attacks (e.g. a Fury Warrior's
奥丁之怒
melee attack or Frost Mage's
水流喷射
ranged attack), and iii) Area of Effect (AoE) multi-target attacks (e.g. a Fury Warrior's
旋风斩
melee attack or Frost Mage's
ranged attack). Effective movement, targeting, and spell rotation are the keys to success!
