Darkshore became prominent once more as the main focus of the War of the Thorns, the pre-expansion event for Battle for Azeroth. As part of the content coming with Patch 8.1, Tides of Vengeance, Darkshore is going through massive zone changes to accommodate the newest Warfront, Battle for Darkshore.
In this guide, we go through a consolidated list of changes as well as cover the story leading to the Darkshore Warfront.
The Story so Far
During the Battle for Azeroth pre-expansion event, War of the Thorns, Darkshore came into the spotlight as the Horde directly attacked the zone. Sylvanas Windrunner, the current Warchief of the Horde, had the death of Malfurion Stormrage as her main objective. She believed that Anduin Wrynn would want to
weaponize the Azerite discovered in Silithus after Argus Campaign
as a means to destroy the Horde. In her mind, the death of Malfurion would discourage the Alliance and send the Night Elves into a state of submission.
Sylvanas: "Time is not a luxury we possess, but I respect your desire to know more. THIS has forever altered the balance of power in Azeroth. Deposits of Azerite are being located across the world, <player>. Though we do not yet understand its full potential, it is clear that this substance has vast destructive capability. What will war look like in twenty years? In a hundred? How can the Horde hope to defend its borders if the Alliance controls the flow of Azerite?"
Sylvanas: "What IS certain is that the Alliance will use Darnassus as a safe harbor for funneling Azerite into the Eastern Kingdoms. Anduin Wrynn will build powerful new weapons, and sooner or later he will turn them upon our homelands. First he will strike at the Undercity and Silvermoon, then his gaze will fall upon Kalimdor. For the sake of the Horde's future, we must be the first to act. By occupying Darnassus, we will control the flow of Azerite and ensure it cannot be used against us. The Alliance will dare not attack its own city for fear of harming civilians. With a single stroke, we will guarantee generations of peace."
Sylvanas: "The kaldorei will defy our occupation... unless we break their sprits. We must inflict a blow that will show them what is at stake. They need to lose something... someone... in whom they have absolute trust and faith. A symbol of hope. <The Dark Lady narrows her eyes.> Malfurion Stormrage must die."
However, the Horde plans changed drastically after the Alliance started heavily opposing the Horde attack in Darkshore. After being contested by the captain of the Darnassian Guard, Delaryn Summermoon, Sylvanas ordered the Burning of Teldrassil, destroying the Alliance zone. You can read about the Burning of Teldrassil event in our
Comprehensive Burning of Teldrassil Guide
.
The Alliance, in retaliation, launched an offensive against Undercity. The Alliance claimed Lordaeron Keep as its own, but not before Sylvanas bombarded the former capital with blight, effectively negating any life that could exist there. You can read about the Battle for Lordaeron event in our
Battle for Lordaeron Comprehensive Guide
.
As of the beginning of Tides of Vengeance, the Horde is in control of Darkshore.
Darkshore in Tides of Vengeance
In Tides of Vengeance, Darkshore is going through a zone overhaul to accommodate its status as a Warfront. The zone is also receiving two new questlines to introduce both Alliance and Horde players to the new zone. Although the questlines have different rewards for each faction, they both serve as an introduction to the upcoming Warfront.
The Alliance offensive in Darkshore is first shown on the animated short
Terror of Darkshore
, released during BlizzCon 2018:
The Alliance storyline involves Tyrande attempting to plead with Anduin about recovering Darkshore from Horde control. Anduin mentions that they're unable to send armies to Darkshore, considering the upcoming effort to assault the Zandalari trolls and the Horde in Dazar'alor. Tyrande decides to take matters into her own hands and undergoes an ancient ritual to become the Night Warrior, an avatar of vengeance empowered by Elune itself, drawing strength from the Dark Side of the Moon. This also causes Darkshore to become enveloped in perpetual night, a New Moon bathing the zone.
Meanwhile, the Horde storyline starts during the Night Warrior ritual, with Nathanos arriving to investigate the cause of the unnatural night. After dispatching some Alliance operations and figuring out what is causing the permanent night, Nathanos goes to fulfill the second task he had there - Retrieve the corpse of the one Night Elf that tried to resist Sylvanas and failed, Captain Delaryn Summermoon. Shortly after Nathanos finds the corpse, he is attacked by the warden Sira Moonwarden, who proves to be no match to both Nathanos and the two Val'kyr accompanying him.
Both questlines clash as Sira Moonwarden dies, with Tyrande, now empowered as the Night Warrior, locating Nathanos. The empowered Tyrande, together with Malfurion, prove to be much stronger than Nathanos. The two val'kyr manage to raise Sira and Delaryn as Forsaken, but one of the Val'kyr, Brynja, sacrifices herself in order for Nathanos and the two raised elves to escape with their lives.
By clicking on the toggles below, you can read the entire detailed series of quests, including transcriptions of all important dialogues.
The questline begins once you log in for Patch 8.1, with Tyrande's faithful owl, Dori'thur, giving you the quest
, asking to meet Maiev and Shandris in Stormwind Keep. Once we meet at Stormwind Keep, we get an audience with the Alliance leaders on
. By talking to Velen, we see a cinematic of Tyrande asking for Anduin's help with the Darkshore situation.
Approaching the meeting:
Maiev Shadowsong says: ...And what of the countless dead? Of the families that will never be whole again?
Shandris Feathermoon says: The kaldorei have been loyal to the Alliance. Are we now left to fend for ourselves?
When starting Waning Hope:
Anduin Wrynn says: Velen, please share what happened with <player>.
After the cinematic:
Sira Moonwarden says: Tyrande left for Darkshore ahead of our army. She intends to wrest it from the Horde herself.
Anduin Wrynn says: I see.
Anduin Wrynn says: <player>, our forces in Zuldazar have not yet able totheir assault. With your aid, we may be ableto succeed on both fronts.
We then accept
, to meet Maiev and Shandris by the Zoram Strand in Ashenvale.
Maiev Shadowsong says: Your aid is welcome, <player>. At least we can count on you.
Maiev Shadowsong says: Tyrande's ship was last seen near the Zoram Strand. We will start there.
Anduin Wrynn says: Of course. You know you can always speak your mind.
Genn Greymane says: I cannot stand idle as they endure the same fate as we did. Gilnear will fight by their side.
Genn Greymane says: I don't mean to defy you. But if I didn't give the order, I think Mia would charge off to battle without me.
Anduin Wrynn says: I understand, Genn. Light be with you.
After we approach the Zoram Strand, we find Maiev, Shandris, Sira and Dori'thur on a boat, next to the destroyed wreckage of Tyrande's boat.
Maiev Shadowsong says: Tyrande's ship. Or at least what is left of it.
Shandris Feathermoon says: She must have destroyed it so she would not be followed.
Shandris and Maiev assess that the Horde has followed Tyrande, so we dispatch some forsaken guards in
, and search for signs of Tyrande on
. While looking for Tyrande, you find her bow (
), a
and an
.
Maiev and Sira react to the tome instantly:
Sira Moonwarden says: That tome... could it be?
Maiev Shadowsong says: The Night Warrior.
After accepting
, we depart for Darkshore, as Tyrande's life is in grave danger. We queue for a scenario located within Darkshore.
Shandris Feathermoon says: She intends to evoke the ancient rites...
Maiev Shadowsong says: The ritual will kill her! We depart for Darkshore immediately.
When the scenario starts, we arrive at the ruins of Auberdine, and the elves talk a bit more about the Night Warrior.
Maiev Shadowsong says: <player>, with me. There is little time.
Maiev Shadowsong says: We will not leave Tyrande on her own behind enemy lines. Move!
Shandris Feathermoon says: What ritual do you speak of, Maiev? Who is the Night Warrior?
Maiev Shadowsong says: She is the incarnation of Elune's wrath. Even witnessing the ritual to become her would put our lives at risk.
Shandris Feathermoon says: And the only life Tyrande wishes to risk is her own. Elune watch over her.
Sira Moonwarden says: Elune... was she watching over us as Teldrassil burned?
Shandris Feathermoon says: We must not lose faith in the goddess. That is just what the Horde wants.
Maiev Shadowsong says: Sira, you scout the shoreline while the rest of us head inland. We will find Tyrande and meet you at Lor'danel.
Maiev Shadowsong says: Elune be with you, sister.
Sira Moonwarden says: ... As you command.
The first clue to the Night Warrior ritual is the Eye of Elune, which was last seen in Auberdine.
Maiev Shadowsong says: Tyrande seeks the Eye of Elune. It was last kept here in Auberdine.
Shandris Feathermoon says: What happened to them?
Maiev Shadowsong says: They tried to stop her.
Shandris Feathermoon says: This way. I was stationed here many moons ago.
Shandris Feathermoon says: This was once a place of joy and laughter. Now... only silence and death remain.
Maiev Shadowsong says: Keep moving. More of them are sure to follow.
Shandris Feathermoon says: The Eye of Elune must be in the hunter's hall. Push forward.
Maiev Shadowsong says: Let us hope Tyrande is still there.
After finding the altar where the Eye of Elune was supposed to be at, it was taken. The player and Maiev/Shandris are cornered by Horde.
Maiev Shadowsong says: We are too late.
Deathstalker Commander Belmont says: Ah, but you're just in time! The Banshee Queen has a keen interest in your heads, night elves.
After defeating the abomination:
Deathstalker Commander Belmont says: It's so hard to find good help these days.
Deathstalker Commander Belmont says: Blight it.
Maiev Shadowsong says: Stand back.
Maiev Shadowsong says: Ash'al theradas!
After the Deathstalker Commander's retreat:
Shandris Feathermoon says: Wait, do you hear that? Survivors!
Shandris Feathermoon says: Your strength has grown, sister.
Maiev Shadowsong says: Vengeance is a powerful weapon.
After defeating the Horde ambush, we spot Sentinel survivors and eventually find Tyrande's nightsaber, Ash'alah. Turns out Tyrande is casting everything aside to turn into the Night Warrior.
Shandris Feathermoon says: Ash'alah! Where is Tyrande?
Maiev Shadowsong says: She has cast everything aside. Only the final rite at the Well of Purity remains.
Shandris Feathermoon says: Ready yourselves, sentinels! The High Priestess requires our aid!
Shandris Feathermoon says: Come, <player>. Ash'alah can bear both of us easily.
After mounting on Ash'alah and attempting to find Tyrande:
Shandris Feathermoon says: Maiev. What makes this ritual so dangerous?
Maiev Shadowsong says: Legends say that long ago, Elune bestowed her fury upon our greatest warriors to secure Kalimdor.
Maiev Shadowsong says: In a sacred ritual, the strongest among them became her avatar--the Night Warrior. Our victory was swift.
Maiev Shadowsong says: None who have attempted the ritual since then have survived. Elune's raw power tears them apart.
We finally locate Tyrande performing the ritual by the Moonwell in Bashal'aran. We protect her as she goes through the ritual, as more Horde forces are arriving. As the ritual progresses, more and more Horde forces arrive, ending right as we're about to get overwhelmed. Turned into the Night Warrior, Tyrande effortlessly annihilates the surrounding Horde forces.
Shandris Feathermoon says: There she is!
Tyrande Whisperwind says: Elune! Your people loved you! Yet you watched, distant and aloof, as they died in torment!
Maiev Shadowsong says: We are with you, Tyrande!
Tyrande Whisperwind says: I served you for millennia. But tonight, I do not come as a maiden, mother, or even priestess.
Tyrande Whisperwind says: Now, I will serve you only if you grant me justice!
Shandris Feathermoon says: The Horde approaches! Be ready!
After the ritual is over:
Tyrande Whisperwind says: In'a shul daElune!
Tyrande Whisperwind says: Kul erath shul, Kul erath sin.
Tyrande Whisperwind says: Ash rohk ilisar! Anu'dorini ash'ka!
Tyrande Whisperwind says: The Horde shall tremble... as our darkness falls.
Tyrande Whisperwind says: Maiev, Shandris. Prepare our forces for war.
Tyrande Whisperwind says: <player>, with me. Nathanos Blightcaller lurks nearby with two of the Banshee Queen's val'kyr.
Tyrande Whisperwind says: We will kill them all.
You and Tyrande ride to Lor'danel's Landing, and Tyrande talks about the end of the Burning of Teldrassil, where she spared Saurfang's life.
Tyrande Whisperwind says: Teldrassil burned because I chose to spare Saurfang's life.
Tyrande Whisperwind says: Countless innocents were murdered. Entire families erased in moments.
Tyrande Whisperwind says: The time for mercy is over.
After arriving in Lor'danel's Landing, Tyrande kills all Forsaken in the area except Deathstalker Captain Belmont, who is kept alive as a warning to the Forsaken. Tyrande searches further for Nathanos.
Tyrande Whisperwind says: He is not here.
Deathstalker Commander Belmont says: Your tree... was just the beginning. This entire shore will fuel our armies.
Tyrande Whisperwind says: I failed to protect my people, but I will avenge them.
Tyrande Whisperwind says: Leave him to rot. He does not deserve a clean death.
Tyrande Whisperwind says: Hold. More come.
Deathstalker Commander Belmont says: You have won... nothing.
Malfurion Stormrage says: The earth itself will swallow you whole.
After defeating the Deathstalker Commander:
Malfurion Stormrage says: Let us strike as one.
Tyrande Whisperwind says: No. Wait for my signal before you attack
Tyrande Whisperwind says: Take Blightcaller. The val'kyr are mine.
Nathanos is finally spotted by the shore where Delaryn was slain, aptly renamed to Delaryn's Demise. Nathanos is spotted, finishing off Sira. This part goes the same as the
Horde Questline
.
Tyrande proves to be an onslaught against Nathanos and the Val'kyr, requiring the sacrifice of the Val'kyr Brynja for Nathanos to escape alive.
Tyrande Whisperwind says: You will not see another sunrise, monster.
Nathanos Blightcaller says: How uncouth for the... Queen of the Tree Elves, is it? No, I suppose that won't do... What exactly do you rule over these days?
Tyrande Whisperwind says: I am no queen. I am the kaldorei's vengeance!
Nathanos Blightcaller says: You are nothing. Raise them!
Brynja says: Rise! In the name of Sylvanas, the Banshee Queen, I bestow this gift upon you!
After we hurt Nathanos a bit, Brynja mind controls Tyrande and joins the fight
Nathanos Blightcaller says: Enough! Any last words, priestess?
Nathanos Blightcaller says: Soon you will share the faith of your dear friend Sira... and the noble Delaryn. Reunions can be so... heartwarming.
Tyrande Whisperwind says: Shal'karath!
Tyrande then turns everything dark.
Nathanos Blightcaller says: You cannot hide from me forever, elf.
Tyrande Whisperwind says: We do not stand alone. Now!
Nathanos Blightcaller says: What?!
Malfurion Stormrage says: Your end has come.
Brynja says: We require more time! Finish it, Signe. I will handle this.
Nathanos Blightcaller says: You are too late. Behold!
Sira and Delaryn are then raised as forsaken.
Tyrande Whisperwind says: You must fight the shadow in your hearts, sisters!
Sira Moonwarden says: We placed our faith in you.
Delaryn Summermoon says: And you abandoned us. Elune abandoned us!
Delaryn Summermoon says: We have nothing left. We are forsaken.
Tyrande Whisperwind says: Never again. Ash thoribas!
Tyrande then strikes Brynja, killing the val'kyr.
Brynja says: No! Dark Lady... I am... sorry...
Nathanos Blightcaller says: Witch! You shall pay dearly for that. Let's move!
Malfurion Stormrage says: I will hunt them down.
Tyrande Whisperwind says: No. Our forces gather. We will settle this another day.
After we fly away, we discuss with Maiev.
Maiev Shadowsong says: Tyrande, what happened?
Tyrande Whisperwind says: Blightcaller yet lives, but at the cost of one of his queen's val'kyr.
Tyrande Whisperwind says: The time has come to reclaim our home. Maiev, you will command our forces.
Maiev Shadowsong says: You place much faith in me, given our... history.
Tyrande Whisperwind says: We cannot dwell in the past... not with our very future at stake. Lead our people to victory as I sate the Night Warrior's wrath.
Maiev Shadowsong says: Wait... Where is Sira? She is not with you.
Tyrande Whisperwind says: She... Maiev, I must speak to you alone.
We're then able to complete
In The Darkest Night
. Completing this quest grants the achievement
, which unlocks the all-new Night Warrior customization for Night Elves. This customization gives you a gray skin color with dark blue eyes. Existing Night Elves are currently able to swap to the Night Warrior Customization on the Barber Shop!
We start this questline at the Banshee's Veil, by talking to Nathanos and accepting
. We must investigate what is going on in the former Night Elf zone, and talk to Dread Admiral Tattersail to go there.
When you arrive in Darkshore, the zone looks much different than the chaos left by the Burning of Teldrassil. An unnatural night, bathed in a giant dark moon, permeates the zone. The remains of Teldrassil are no longer visible, hidden by the thick fog by Azeroth's ocean. You will immediately notice that the area around Lor'danel has been turned into a Goblin lumber mill. You will also have a debuff,
. The quest map is also closer to Lor'danel, but the overworld map has not changed. Thanks
mrpeach774
for the picture!
On
,
and
, we attempt to discover what is causing the unnatural night, as well as free goblin shredders and raise Night Elf forces as Dark Rangers. The lieutenants we defeat are part of a seemingly new force, the Army of the Black Moon.
It is noticeably hard to raise fallen Sentinels as Rangers, many of them outright refusing and releasing an Angry Wisp to fight you. The few Sentinels willing to be raised will have a dark aura around their corpse.
With each lieutenant we slay, Sira Moonwarden warns us. She's close.
Sira Moonwarden says: You will not win. We follow your every step.
Sira Moonwarden says: The end is close now.
Sira Moonwarden says: Scamper back to your Banshee Queen. We are coming for you.
After defeating all Army of the Black Moon lieutenants, a lost wisp starts following you. We bring it back to Nathanos on
, as it might have the information we require.
On
, we consult the Lost Wisp to find out why the moon went dark. A cinematic is supposed to pop-up here, but it's currently disabled on the PTR. It is safe to assume that we see a cinematic where
Tyrande performs the ritual to become the Night Warrior
.
After this quest, we go to retrieve the body of Delaryn Summermoon in
, in an area aptly named Delaryn's Demise.
Nathanos Blightcaller says: There is one more asset to acquire. One who resisted... and failed. The Dark Lady was very... specific in her wishes.
After finding Delaryn's corpse, you're spotted by Sira Moonwarden, leader of the Wardens. You're forced to fight with her, and after defeating the Warden, Nathanos appears. You can then choose to kill the Night Elf, or let Nathanos do the dirty job for you.
Sira Moonwarden says: This is where it ends. You have nowhere else to run.
Sira Moonwarden says: Ash'al theradas!
Sira Moonwarden says: Spare me the trouble and die!
Sira Moonwarden says: Soon she will be here, and she will tear you to pieces.
After Sira is defeated, standing at 1 health:
Nathanos Blightcaller says: My my, look what we have here. The hunter has become the prey. It's almost a cliché, when you think about it.
Nathanos Blightcaller says: What are you waiting for? Finish her.
Sira Moonwarden says: Where... is she...?
On
, we need to protect the two Val'kyr sent by Sylvanas as they attempt to raise both Delaryn and Sira. However, the Night Warrior herself, Tyrande Whisperwind, arrives! While the ritual happens, Malfurion Stormrage also shows up. Nathanos does not prove to be a match against both the Night Warrior empowered Tyrande and Malfurion, even after being empowered by both Val'kyr.
Once Nathanos gets overpowered by the Elves, one of the Val'kyr, Brynja, takes on the frontline so that the ritual can be completed. She ends up struck by Tyrande and killed, giving enough time for the ressurrection ritual to be completed, and for Nathanos to run away wounded.
After we hurt Tyrande a bit, she gets mind controlled by Brynja, one of the Val'kyr.
After we return to Lor'danel Landing, we see both Sira and Delaryn as Forsaken. In
, we talk to Nathanos. There is another cinematic, also disabled on the PTR.
After talking to Nathanos, we return to Zuldazar on
, and prepare for the Battle for Darkshore.

Battle for Darkshore Warfront
After completing either questlines, you will gain access to the Battle for Darkshore Warfront, the second Warfront for Battle for Azeroth. You will have access to the questlines and the Warfront accompanying them starting on the release day for the Tides of Vengeance Patch, December 11/12.
Unlike the Arathi Highlands Warfront, the Horde will start Tides of Vengeance in control of the Warfront (and the zone), while the Alliance has to gather efforts to launch an assault. Thus, Alliance will be the first faction with access to the Battle for Darkshore scenario.
For more information about the Battle for Darkshore Warfront, check our
Battle for Darkshore Warfront Overview
.
Zone Changes in Darkshore
In Tides of Vengeance, Darkshore is going through a massive overhaul to accommodate its status as a new Warfront. One of those changes includes certain spots in Darkshore changing whether the Horde or the Alliance are in control of the zone.
For other general changes in the Darkshore zone, check our
Darkzone Zone Changes PTR Post
.
In
Bashal'Aran
, the main hub of Darkshore after Tides of Vengeance, the buildings change from Night Elf buildings when the Alliance is controlling the zone, to Goblin buildings once the Horde takes over.
The moonwell at the center of Bashal'Aran also changes depending on which faction is controlling the zone - While it is taken by new moon magic thanks to Tyrande's Night Warrior ritual while the Alliance is in control, it becomes bathed by Blight once the Horde has it.
The goblin docks by Lor'danel Landing are taken by plant overgrowth when Alliance is in control, same with the Forsaken Blight stand by Gloomtide Strand.
The port in
Auberdine
, originally destroyed by Deathwing's passage, is rebuilt when the Alliance is in control of Darkshore (but only the port - Auberdine itself is still left in ruins). The port is once again destroyed once the Horde is in control.
Past NPCs as Darkshore Rares
Some of the new rares in Darkshore have appeared or been mentioned in one way or another in the zone. In this guide in specific, we only mention those NPCs that did make appearances in Darkshore's past.
For more information on their locations, as well as all other rares located in the new Darkshore, check our
Rewards from the Darkshore Warfront guide
!
Aman
is a titan watcher that appeared in two zones before showing up as a rare in the new Darkshore:
During Classic and through expansions till the end of Wrath of the Lich King, Aman would appear in Wetlands after the quest
, warning us about the dangers of digging too deep into the past.
After the Cataclysm, he now appears in Darkshore during the quest
. He appears and surveys Remtravel's Excavation, mentioning that the site is compromised.
Aman appears both times talking about the dangers of digging in too deep into Azeroth's past. Remtravel's Excavation, his site in Darkshore, was flooded and overtaken by murlocs of the Greymist tribe after the Cataclysm, but in Darkshore's revamp, the area is drained out. Aman is displayed killing Greymist murlocs around him, which would signal the site's corruption was caused by the murlocs.
Athrikus Narassin
was a highborne who prided himself in his many magical artifacts he obtained or created, and one of Queen Azshara's most faithful servants. Athrikus was personally chosen by Queen Azshara to govern the cities of Bashal'Aran and Ameth'Aran 10,000 years ago. Although Athrikus was good with his duties, he would stay hidden inside the Tower of Althalaxx most of his days.
Narassin was near the Well of Eternity when it exploded during the War of the Ancients. The blast from the explosion made him lose all his precious items, scattered across Kalimdor. However, he was augmented with the energies of the well, granting him the ability to sap the energy of other magi to augment his own powers. After this, he tricked the elves of the now-destroyed Ameth'Aran into safety, only to trap them within soul gems to slowly drain their energies.
During Classic, the questline that started with
dug deep within the story of Athrikus Narassin and his soul gems, leading to eventually steal his remaining soul gems and leaving the Highborne vulnerable. Players finished Narassin off, and the Tower of Althalaxx was left abandoned until it crumbled during the Cataclysm. During the quest
, it is discovered that Forsaken looters are attempting to scrounge the ruins for Narassin's research, and although the Highborne is long dead, the research would be very damaging provided it falls in the wrong hands.
In the new Darkshore, the Horde activity near the ruined tower drove many spirits to madness, including Narassin himself, now showing up as a rare. He has a chance to drop the toy
, which will trap fallen souls into his soul gem.
Glrglrr
is the chieftain of the Greymist tribe of murlocs, which show up all over the coast of Darkshore. Although Glrglrr did not make an appearance in-game before 8.1, the Greymist murlocs already caused troubles during questlines from Classic. On the quest
, it is mentioned that
, one of the members of the tribe, was responsible for the death of at least one Sentinel, and sinking at least two cargo ships from Darnassus.
Greymist murlocs also appear around
, both alive and killed by the watcher, presumably the reason as to why Remtravel's Excavation is considered corrupted by him.
Gren Tornfur
is one of the leaders of the Blackwood furbolg, a tribe that used to live around Darkshore. During Classic, the Blackwood furbolg were being slowly corrupted by the satyr hailing from Felwood, but were purified by players during the quest
. In Cataclysm, the Blackwood tribe offers to help Malfurion cleanse Darkshore of Deathwing's passage in exchange for helping them against the Fire elementals summoned by the Twilight's Hammer, on the quest
. Gren Tornfur himself gives you the quest
, to help cleanse off potential corruption coming from Felwood.
The Blackwood furbolg became directly affected by the War of the Thorns. The Horde seized Blackwood Hold in
, while the Alliance rescued the Blackwood leaders, including Tornfur, in
. In the new Darkshore, the Horde won the dispute by taking over Blackwood Hold and turning it into the settlement of Kor'gar. It was discovered that the other furbolg leaders were killed by the Horde, leaving only Tornfur alive, who ended up once again corrupted and is now killable as a rare. Gren Tornfur drops the
, which covers a target in an innate version of the undeath blight.
Ivus the Forest Lord
was a massive Ancient of War that would help the Alliance in Alterac Valley, during Classic WoW. By turning in enough
s to
in Dun Baldar, she would call in her druids to summon Ivus the Forest Lord, that would assault the Frostwolf Keep. Although Ivus is still summonable in recent iterations on AV, changes like reinforcements, coupled with the huge effort required to summon Ivus makes the ancient a very rare sight nowadays.
Ivus is summoned in Darkshore to help on the offensive against the Horde, but eventually ends up corrupted. Alliance ends up being forced to put an end on his corrupted form,
. In both his forms, Ivus serves as the newest World Boss, accessible to the faction currently in control of the Darkshore warfront.
Onu
is an Ancient of Lore that serves as a questgiver for the Alliance in Darkshore. Pre-Cataclysm, Onu would guide players to questlines in the Master's Glaive, but his usefulness was reduced in the Cataclysm. In the War of the Thorns, Onu works as a questgiver through the Alliance questline, focusing his efforts on helping the furbolgs of Blackwood Hold (
).
Onu is friendly to Alliance players, and only Horde players can kill him. He is currently available on the Alliance phase on the 8.1 PTR, but this could change. Onu drops the
Battle Pet. Alliance players can get the same drop from
.
Shadowclaw
is a Nightsaber that has been a rare mob since Darkshore's first incarnation, during the Classic days. Shadowclaw is known for being one of the very few rares to be hidden away in stealth, but in the new Darkshore incarnation, Shadowclaw is very much aggressive - Friendly to Alliance players, he's active while the Horde controls the Warfront, preying away at the Hunter Extraordinaire
.
As he's friendly to Alliance players, only Horde players can kill him. Shadowclaw drops the
mount for Horde players. Alliance players can obtain this mount while they have control of the Warfront from the rare
.
Soggoth the Slitherer
was one of the heralds of the Old Gods. He was defeated long ago by 20 stone giants, with only one stone giant surviving the battle.
