This guide provides tips and strategies for defeating the
奥丁
encounter on Normal Difficulty. Changes to the fight for Looking for Raid, Heroic and Mythic difficulties are listed below in their respective sections, including tips and strategies for dealing with the new mechanics introduced in these difficulties.
奥丁
is a three phase encounter which requires the raid to deal damage in a controlled way whilst dealing with mechanics from multiple sources simultaneously. Excellent communication and coordination skills are needed to prove your worth to Odyn once again!
Phase 1
consists of
海姆达尔
and
赫娅
. Your objective in this phase is to get both bosses to cast
再生
at the same time so you can transition into phase 2.
This spell is cast once either
海姆达尔
or
赫娅
reach 25% health.
During this phase you need to dodge the
舞动之刃
from
海姆达尔
and make sure you are not within 5 yards of others when
勇气号角
is cast.
驱逐之光
must be spot healed.
光明之盾
should hit as many players as possible to spread the damage.
海姆达尔
and
赫娅
must be 35 yards or more apart to prevent

from being an issue.
You also have to deal with

from becoming empowered.
Phase 2

will join the encounter and force you to deal with his

causes large, consistent and bursty damage on your raid.

Phase 3
starts once

hits 55% health.

will gain an entirely new set of abilities.
You must defeat him before his

becomes too powerful for your healers to cope with.
Storm of Justice tornadoes need to be placed away from fellow raid members whilst everyone needs to keep clear of areas coated in
净化火焰
.
Tanks effected by

must travel as far from the boss as possible and taunt on one stack of the debuff.
Phase 1: Might of the Valarjar
Tank them 35 Yards apart!Phase 1 consists of fighting two mini-bosses,
海姆达尔
and
赫娅
, whilst
奥丁
watches from his throne.
海姆达尔
and
赫娅
have separate health pools and it is the job of the raid to damage both
海姆达尔
and Hyrja to 25% health within a short period of time of one another so they cast
再生
simultaneously.
The
再生
cast is 10 seconds long and it will heal the caster for 30% of their maximum health.
This cast is interrupted if both
赫娅
and
海姆达尔
are casting it at the same time, at which point phase 2 will begin.
While Hymdall and Hyrja are within 35 yards of each other their damage taken is reduced by 99% as a result of
瓦拉加尔之契
. In order to deal meaningful damage to the minibosses, you must have them spread at least 35 yards throughout the phase.

This 4 second cast will deal a large amount of damage to anyone within 15 yards, as well as a moderate amount of damage to each individual member of the raid and splash additional damage to anyone within 5 yards of them.
Tanks and any melee DPS must move away from
海姆达尔
during the cast, whilst the raid should be spread apart from one another by 5 yards to avoid the splash damage aspect of the ability.
海姆达尔
will throw a
舞动之刃
towards random ranged player, dealing damage upon impact and consistent damage to anyone who stands within it.
You can avoid the blade as the target location is marked by an orange swirly circle.
You then want to avoid standing next to it, as it will subtly pivot around its landing location.
赫娅
驱逐之光
will be applied to a random player in your raid. The player with Expel light should move 8 yards away from anyone else in order to avoid unnecessary extra damage to the raid.
Stand inside the
光明之盾
to share the damageEvery 35 seconds
赫娅
will cast
光明之盾
.
She will face and track a player for 3 seconds. She will then send out a large beam of light towards them, dealing a large amount of damage and knocking them back.
The damage and knockback aspect of this ability is shared between all players hit.
The player who is fixated by the
光明之盾
should point her targeting arrow towards the middle of the room and then remain still, whilst any nearby players, including the tank and melee DPS on Hyrja, stand within the beam to help spread the damage.
Because Hyrja and Hymdall need to be brought to 25% health within a 10 second window, it is very important that you spread your DPS across them.
We recommend having the majority of your melee DPS focused on
赫娅
, whilst the ranged dps mainly focus on
海姆达尔
. This is due to
海姆达尔
s
勇气号角
cast being unfriendly to your melee DPS, whilst
赫娅
's
光明之盾
cast can be easily countered by having your melee DPS soak it.
You will need to monitor the health of both mini-bosses, and make adjustments to your assignments depending on your DPS composition, to ensure that they both reach 25% health within those 10 seconds.
奥丁
Although Odyn is out of the encounter area and is not damageable in this phase, he will cast a
吸取能量
.
All 5 runes of power will activate on the floor and he will begin to generate energy.
30 seconds later, after he reaches 100 energy he will cast
神准冲击
which deals large raid wide damage.
The damage of the
神准冲击
is increased by 200% for each rune active on the ground.
The raid must disable the runes by killing the
瓦拉加尔符文使者
that spawn around the sides of the room at the same time

is cast.

s need to die within the correct rune
瓦拉加尔符文使者
's will fixate a player and mark them with a symbol which matches a rune on the floor.
Players who are fixated must drag the Valarjar Runebearer to the rune that matches the one they have been branded with in order to remove the
符文护盾
which reduces all damage taken by the
瓦拉加尔符文使者
by 99%.
Once inside the
瓦拉加尔符文使者
s must die, which deactivates the rune, before the Unnering Blast cast goes off. This will reduce the damage of the
神准冲击
causing it to be survivable by the raid.
You should have all DPS switch to the Runebearers to make sure that they die in time.
Once Hymdall and Hyrja reach 25% health within 10 seconds of one another they will leave the encounter area.
奥丁
will then enter the encounter area and phase 2 will begin.
If Draw Power is being cast, it will be interrupted.
Any active
瓦拉加尔符文使者
s will lose their
符文护盾
s and can killed off normally.
Phase 2: The Prime Designate
Avoid the Spear of Light landing zonesIn this phase the raid will be fighting
奥丁
directly. This phase has moderate movement requirements as well as moderate to high healing requirements. Phase 2 will end when
奥丁
reaches 55% health.
Tanks should position the boss in the middle of the room as you will still have to deal with
吸取能量
from phase 1. Standing in the middle allows melee DPS to switch quickly to all
瓦拉加尔符文使者
s regardless to which rune they're residing in. Fixated players need to continue to move to the rune that matches the brand above their head.
奥丁
in this phase has a passive stacking buff

Each consecutive melee attack against the same target will increase
奥丁
's attack speed by 8% and this stacks.
Tanks will need to taunt off one another in order to drop this stack. Taunting on 10-14 stacks is a good guideline, however the tanks can taunt off one another as much as they please, be aware that

may become taunt immune if you taunt him too often within a short period of time.
Dodge the Glowing Fragments that shoot across the roomFrequently, Spears of Light will land around the room, typically near players.
This spear of light will deal a large amount of damage to anyone hit in the impact zone.
When the spear lands it will instantly
碎裂
, dealing a burst of raid wide damage. It will also shoot out
光耀碎片
s across the encounter room.
Any players hit by the
光耀碎片
s will take a large amount of damage and also be stunned for 3 seconds.
The raid must avoid all spears that spawn by moving from the impact circles, and then avoid the
光耀碎片
s that travel across the room.
You may need to use healing cooldowns to help with the damage of the
碎裂
, but avoid being wasteful as you will have
神准冲击
s to heal up also.
Phase 3: The Final Test
净化火焰
locationsPhase 3 requires excellent positioning and debuff management, as well as high damage in order to burst
奥丁
down before he becomes too powerful. Saving Bloodlust/
英勇
/Timewarp for when cooldowns align during this phase will help you greatly.
Almost immediately when this phase starts
奥丁
will fill up two thirds of the room with
净化火焰
.
Standing within the light will deal ever increasing ticking damage to the player.
Every 45 seconds,
奥丁
will fill up the empty third of the room with the
净化火焰
and remove it from another third. At this point the raid needs to move from their current position to the new clear third of the room.
This is an ideal time to use personal/raid wide movement speed increases such as
狂奔怒吼
.
Often Odyn will debuff multiple members of the raid with
正义风暴
. At the end of its duration, the player and all players within 8 yards of them, will take a moderate amount of damage and spawn a
暴怒的风暴元素
.
Drop the Storm of Justice debuffs far from the raid. Against walls is perfect!
This Raging Tempest will remain in that location permanently and will deal damage and knock up any player who runs into it.
It is essential that players place the
暴怒的风暴元素
s around the edges of the room, or in areas of the room which will not hinder movement across the encounter area when the
净化火焰
changes location. Reacting quickly to the debuff application is key.
奥丁
will also debuff the tanks with
雷铸之矛
. Once it expires,
奥丁
will throw a
雷铸之矛
at them, dealing an enormous amount of physical damage to the tank.
This damage is reduced the further away the tank is from
奥丁
at the time of impact. The stormforged spear will also deal a flat moderate amount of damage to the raid, regardless of positioning.
As soon as the tank receives the
雷铸之矛
debuff they should move as far away from the boss as possible, whilst the other tank taunts immediately.
Be aware that this ability comes in frequently (every 10 seconds), and therefore the tank effected by the
雷铸之矛
needs to be prepared to move back to the boss to taunt back for when the next tank receives the debuff.
奥丁
will deal a small amount of damage to random members of the raid throughout the phase with
弧光风暴
.
The severity of this damage increases over time.
This acts as a pseudo enrage, as the healers will struggle to fight against this damage for a long period of time.
Using healing cooldowns towards the end of the phase can help counteract this sporadic damage.
The fight ends once
奥丁
reaches 10% health.
Strategy Summary
Phase 1
Damage Hymdall and Hyrja to 25% health within 10 seconds of one another to progress into phase 2.
Keep Hymdall and Hyrja at least 35 yards away from one another.
Everyone needs to be spread 5 yards to avoid taking extra splash damage from
海姆达尔
's
勇气号角
.
Have as many people as possible stand within the
光明之盾
to help reduce the damage and knockback from the ability.
Move away from the
舞动之刃
.
Move away from the group if afflicted with
驱逐之光
.
When Odyn casts

, quickly move the

s to their matching rune and slay them on it to disable the rune, lowering the damage of

Phase 2
Tanks need to switch who is tanking
奥丁
frequently to keep

stacks to a minimum (around 10-14 stacks).
Avoid the incoming Spear of Light impact zones and the

s that shoot out of them.
When Odyn casts

, quickly move the

s to their matching rune and slay them on it to disable the rune, lowering the damage of

.
Keep Odyn 35 yards away from

whilst they are active, and have all DPS focus them down (Heroic, Mythic).
Phase 3

/Timewarp/

should be used during this phase when it aligns with DPS cooldowns.
Tanks need to move as far away from
奥丁
as possible when afflicted with
雷铸之矛
. The other tank should taunt during this time to keep
奥丁
still and be ready to receive the next.
Place the Storm of Justice debuffs at the sides of the room, or in areas of the room that will not hinder player movement.
Move out of the
净化火焰
effect covering two thirds of the room and be ready to move to a new clear area when the previously clear area gets covered.
Healers should be wary of ever increasing ticking damage coming from
奥丁
's
弧光风暴
and should use cooldowns accordingly.
Looking for Raid Difficulty
As of time of writing, there are no mechanical differences between LFR and Normal Mode listed in the Dungeon Journal. The only differences listed are purely numerical, where abilities will deal less damage in LFR than in Normal Mode.
Heroic Difficulty
Apart from abilities dealing more damage in comparison to Normal Mode, no differences are listed in the Dungeon Journal for phase 1. In phase 2 there is one major change. Frequently throughout phase 2,
海姆达尔
and
赫娅
will take turns at entering the encounter area and they maintain their 2 unique abilities.
赫娅
驱逐之光
- Avoid the debuff expiring on top of other raid members.
光明之盾
- Stand within the beam to split the damage with everyone hit.
海姆达尔
舞动之刃
- Move from it.
勇气号角
- Be 15 yards away from
海姆达尔
and at least 5 yards from other raid members.
They also maintain the
瓦拉加尔之契
damage reduction aura, which now applies to
奥丁
.
Tanks will need to tank
奥丁
and the Miniboss at least 35 yards away from one another so that the DPS can continue to deal damage to both of them.
The tanks will need to swap roles on a frequent basis to keep
奥丁的考验
stacks to a minimum.
Both Hymdall and Hyrja will leave the encounter area when brought below 85% health. It is therefore high priority that all DPS should focus them down below 85% health in order to keep the encounter under control. The only time DPS should not be damaging the active 'Miniboss' is when a new wave of
瓦拉加尔符文使者
s come in.
Mythic Difficulty
The Draw Power ability has changed in phase 1 and 2. After dragging the
瓦拉加尔符文使者
s to the correct rune and killing them, you will receive a new debuff corresponding to a rune on the ground. You need to move into that rune to gain the

debuff, which will stop you from being killed by the now forever lethal
神准冲击
.
In phase 3, players will need to deal with

. This will assign each player a random rune. After 6 seconds they will take a large amount of damage from

and then another burst of damage from
光辉回响
. To counter this, players need to run into their corresponding rune to reduce the damage taken by the

which follows shortly after

On another Guide there is a differance with the Shatter mechanic at phase 2.
Spear of Light
The boss creates a big spear coming out from the ground.
The spear does very high dmg to any player standing within 8 yards when the spear comes out.
The spear also shoots out 5 small fragments in each direction that (if it touches a player) stuns for 3 sec and does Holy dmg.
Shatter
The boss breaks the spears he created and each spear does damage to the entire raid.
If a player touches the spear it will also shatter.
If all spears (or many spears) that the boss created shatters at the same time, the entire raid will die.
Tactic: Spear of Light and Shatter
A circle will create under you before the spear is created. Move away fast.
The 5 small fragments from the spear are very small and can easily be missed, keep an eye out.
Any player close to a spear, break the spears one by one with intervals to have time to heal up the raid in between so it will only be 1-2 (or none) spears left when the boss casts Shatter.
So what is right now? Do we have to break the spears manual to avoid that Odyn shatter all at the same time or do the spears shatter automaticly?

Overwiew
Over half of this video contains completelly unnecessary comments like "not sure if bug or intended", most of single tactics are told in the very long, hard to remember words instead of simple explaination. Video misses spells, descriptions and tips. it's too long, and soporific video that is hard to understand anything.
Text description contains 3 times the same thing, completelly unecessary. It's enough to write tactics once. Repeating 3 times the same tactics that lacks information, formatting, and are not handy, is even worse.
Finally, even images are not same size. I miss informative times, spell cooldowns, handy notes, examples. In short, everything a good guides contains.
Summary
I am really disappointed. I lost a handy, well written guide source here, on wowhead. Shame you chosen "stack one class and, it worked on PTR but I am not sure if it's intended or a bug" instead of handy and descriptive guide authors.

Those g00 redirects takes really long to load sometimes.

We attempted Normal tonight. 3rd phase - tanks received a debuff after being hit by the spears that increased their spear damage taken by 100%. This is not mentioned in the guide (or the dungeon journal for that matter). It seems to fall off relatively quickly, if the ability happens every 10 seconds it takes maybe 13 to fall off.

Shield of Light is a Hyrja's spell and it should be written Spears of Light instead, I guess?

You also put Color Marks before the fight on each rune with the exact color as i show on the picture. This way each player with a rune mark can find and run to the coresponting color mark faster.

Last week (or rather the first week of ToV) of doing Heroic: In phase 2, Hymdall/Hyrja seem to leave the combat area at 90% HP instead of 85% (30m raid size). I think this was a live hotfix to tune the fight down a bit. I expect upcoming changes this Tuesday (Nov. 15) to this instance.

For LFR: runes are done in phase 2 and was only once in that phase. Also, there's only 3 orbs flying out of the swords. Other than that, I didn't see any mechanical differences.

Hyrja's Shield of Light damage has been reduced by 50% on Normal and Heroic difficulties of the fight on a hotfix earlier this day. (1st of December)
Values before Hotfix:
4,640,000 - Normal (10-Man)
6,500,000 - Heroic (10-Man)
8,780,000 - Mythic
Values after Hotfix:
2,320,000 - Normal (10-Man)
3,250,000 - Heroic (10-Man)
8,780,000 - Mythic (Remains unchanged)
A 50% damage reduction on Normal and Heroic difficulties.

im a dk tank and strugleing with the phase 3 movement when it comes to the stormforge spear is there any ideas out there to make it easy also I don't have the legendry boots so just got the plane speed

While we are trying to kill odyn in mythic mode we figured some stuff:
as an example if 4rune bearer is dead theres only one left and you still dont have any rune brand: go to that last rune bearer spot. %100 percent your rune color and last rune bearers match.
Yellow ground on phase 3 does NOT one shoot you. Dont be afraid to dumb your tornodas to yellow covered side especially if u were there before in p3 encounter
at P3 same runic branded ppl has to stack and different colored persons shouldnt come any closer then 15yard. What i am saying is if you are branded with yellow and cant reach your stacking point atleast do not be around greens too. Cus if you stay alone u will damage whole raid roughly 1m but if you stack with other 3green branded raiders that aoe burst u will cause goes up to 3m+

Was able to somewhat easily solo this as an Elemental Shaman on Heroic by constantly kiting with ghost wolf, switching to burst the moment
Valarjars Bond
would drop on either Odyn, Hymdall and Hyrja were far enough apart.Took a little while to figure it out. Concentrated Flame (rank 3) essence really helped with the nuking part.

Is it actually possible to solo this without a pet to help keep them 35 yards apart? If not, then they ignore 99% of your damage. As a 60 mage (Shadowlands), I had reduced their health only a few percent after 5 minutes in Normal mode.
