This guide provides tips and strategies for defeating the
伊涅瓦·暗脉女勋爵
encounter on Normal Difficulty in Castle Nathria. Changes to the fight for the other difficulties are listed below in their respective sections, including tips and strategies for dealing with the new mechanics introduced in these difficulties.
伊涅瓦·暗脉女勋爵
is a single phase encounter in which the bosses abilities gain additional augmentations over time as Primal Anima Containers slowly fill up over the course of the encounter. Players need to remove these augmentations by draining Anima Containers that are located around the room.

is the third and last boss in the Catacombs wing, and is unlocked by defeating the

Lady Darkvein Abilities & Strategy in Castle Nathria
Primal Anima Containers
Lady Inerva Darkvein has four abilities that she will cast during this encounter. Each of these abilities has an Primal Anima Container linked with it.
These containers slowly gain energy over time. Upon reaching 33% & 66% energy, the ability linked with the container will gain an augmentation.
The containers can be drained by having a player interact with them. This will deplete the energy slowly over time, whilst increasing the damage of
自由心能
while it is draining.
If a container is never drained and reaches 100% energy, a
容器破缺
is triggered. This deals very high shadow damage to the raid until the container is drained below 100% energy.
A single player should drain a container before it ever reaches 33% energy, as to prevent the associated ability gaining the augmentation.
At the beginning of the fight, the boss will cast
聚焦心能
on the leftmost container.
This will increase the rate it gains energy substantially, whilst also preventing players from draining it.
This container will remain in this state until either the boss loses 25% health, at which point the boss will cast
聚焦心能
on the next container to its right.
At this moment, the previous container will stop gaining energy at an increased rate and players will be able to drain it once more.
The boss will repeat this until the rightmost container has
聚焦心能
cast on it. At this point players will have to kill her before that container reaches 100% energy.
Do note that the boss will continue to use all four of her abilities regardless of which Anima Container is being focused. This mechanic only affects Anima Container energy.
You can track the containers energy levels via this UI element.
Players should look to drain the container the boss is about to cast
聚焦心能
into next before she does so, as this will start the container at low energy, meaning the abilities will take longer to empower.
Once a container is no longer under the effects of
聚焦心能
, a player should drain it as soon as possible as this will depower the ability associated with that container.
Healers should be aware of when these containers are going to be drained, as they need to prepare to heal the raid during this time.
TL:DR - Drain the container before and after the boss casts
聚焦心能
on it, as well as any time it reaches 33%+ energy when not under the
聚焦心能
effect.

The Container of Desire is linked to the
显露欲望
ability and is located on the leftmost side of the room.
This ability is frequently cast on the tank and deals a large burst of physical damage whilst applying the
扭曲欲望
debuff.
扭曲欲望
deals moderate shadow damage over 21 seconds. This can stack.
To keep the
扭曲欲望
debuff to a minimum, tanks should taunt off of each other on two stacks.
33% Empowerment:

is upgraded into

when the Container of Desire reaches 33% energy.
This applies a

debuff to a random non-tank player when a tank receives their first stack of

Damage dealt to that tank is copied to their linked

partner over 10 seconds.

debuff is removed from the random player when the tank loses their

stacks.
This change simply forces the healers to spot heal the player afflicted with

, as they will be taking heavy damage whilst it is active.
Tanks should continue to swap on two stacks as to keep damage on themselves and their
共享认知
partner as low as possible.
Players afflicted with

should avoid taking damage from other sources where possible, such as soaking

.
66% Empowerment:

is upgraded into

when the Container of Desire reaches 66% energy.
This causes the tank to trigger a

explosion whenever their

stacks drop.

deals moderate shadow damage to players within a short radius around the tank. The tank simply needs to move away from others to reduce incoming raid damage.
Move away from the raid when afflicted with

The Container of Bottled Anima is linked to the
瓶装心能
ability and is located to the right of the previously mentioned container.
Every ~35 seconds, the boss will summon multiple
瓶装心能
vials that will begin to land at randomly marked locations around the encounter space.
Upon landing, the vial deals a moderate burst of shadow damage to all players within its 3 yard impact radius. This damage is not split between players hit.
If no players are hit by the impact, the vial explodes and triggers Unleashed Volatility, dealing high shadow damage to all players.
The raid needs to make sure that each
瓶装心能
landing zone is soaked by a single player.
To help with this, the boss should be tanked near the middle of the encounter space and ranged players should be spread loosely around her in all directions.
This helps make sure that no matter where the
瓶装心能
decides to land, at least one nearby ranged player should be within range to run over and soak it.
Soak the
瓶装心能
vials before they land!
33% Empowerment:

is upgraded into
残留心能
when the Container of Bottled Anima reaches 33% energy.
When a vial lands on the ground, it now creates a patch of
残留心能
which deals moderate shadow damage to anyone who remains within it.
Players need to be aware of these locations and try to avoid them as much as possible.
That being said, sometimes players may be forced to stand within a patch, such as to catch a
瓶装心能
vial. When doing so make sure to use a defensive cooldown and healers will need to keep an eye on you.
As the location of the
瓶装心能
is randomly cast, players have no control over the locations the
残留心能
spawns in.
The
残留心能
pools never despawn.
残留心能
is left at each vial impact location!
66% Empowerment: Replicating Anima
瓶装心能
is upgraded into Replicating Anima when the Container of Bottled Anima reaches 66% energy.
When the
瓶装心能
vial lands for the first time, it will bounce back up and mark another random nearby location and then land again moments later, forcing players to soak each vial twice, instead of once.
Healers should be quick to spot heal those who are soaking these vials as to make sure they are healthy enough to soak the second hit.
The direction the vial bounces towards is entirely random and cannot be controlled by players, forcing players to react quickly to their surroundings as to avoid an accidental Unleashed Volatility from triggering when the vial lands for a second time.
Both the first and the second landing of the
瓶装心能
vial will create a patch of
残留心能
.

The Container of Sin is linked to the

ability and is located to the right of the previously mentioned container.
Approximately every 50 seconds, the boss will cast

, spawning three

orbs around the middle of the encounter space.
These orbs will deal moderate shadow damage over time to the nearest player. They will do this until they are removed or they despawn after ~45 seconds.
If the orbs expire after ~45 seconds, the raid receives the
偿罪
debuff which deals very heavy shadow damage over 10 seconds to all players.
Cut all three orbs simultaneously with the
共受苦难
Beams!
Shortly after the
昔日罪孽
orbs spawn, three random non-tank players will be marked with
共受苦难
.
Upon application, the player will be knocked back away from the boss. Each marked player will then be connected to each other via a beam.
This beam deals low shadow damage to any player that stands within it, so other players should attempt to move out of the path of the beams.
The
共受苦难
players must despawn the
昔日罪孽
orbs by passing at least one beam through each of them simultaneously.
This is most easily done by having each marked player stand near a unique orb and positioning themselves so that their beam is cutting through an orb.
It is important that each player goes towards a separate orb, as otherwise one of the orbs is unlikely to have a beam passing through it.
This may take some practice, as the orbs will only despawn when all orbs have at least a single beam passing through them at the same time.
33% Empowerment:

This modifies the

orbs by linking each orb together with a single

beam.
Any player who is touched by this beam receives a hard hitting shadow damage 10 second dot. This dot can stack.
To avoid players getting hit by this

, the raid should place the boss towards the sides of the room, as to make sure that the raid isn't trapped within a triangular-prison of
心能之网
.
Players with
共受苦难
need to move around the outside of the orbs to avoid getting hit by the
心能之网
beams.
Don't stand in the
心能之网
beams connecting the orbs!
66% Empowerment:

is upgraded into

when the Container of Sin reaches 66% energy.
After
心能之网
beams have spawned, they will also slowly rotate on the spot.
The
心能之网
still deals the same damage, but now has become much more difficult to avoid.
Players with
共受苦难
should look to remove the orbs as soon as possible whilst dodging the rotating
心能之网
beams.
A good way of handling this is to have the
共受苦难
players stand further away from the orb they are trying to hit with their beam. As long as the angle is the same, they are still be able to cut their orb.
All other players should keep their distance from the
昔日罪孽
orbs as to avoid accidentally getting clipped by a beam.
The
心能之网
begins to rotate at 66% energy!
轻度浓缩心能
The
浓缩心能容器
is linked to the
轻度浓缩心能
ability and is the rightmost container in the encounter space.
轻度浓缩心能
is cast every ~65 seconds and applies a 10 second debuff to a single player that deals moderate shadow damage over time.
When this debuff expires, the player will deal a low burst of shadow damage to all players within 8 yards and spawns a
被掌控的幽灵
add.
The player afflicted by this debuff should move close to melee to spawn the add nearby. All other nearby players should move away to avoid taking the splash damage from the debuff expiring.
The

is an immobile add that needs to be tanked.
It will always melee hit the player in range who has the most threat. If there is no players within melee range, it will spam cast

which deals very high damage to the entire raid.
This add will occasionally apply

to the current tank, dealing a burst of shadow damage whilst leaving a debuff increasing damage done by this ability and
扭曲欲望
by 10% for 15 seconds. This can stack.
The tank not currently tanking the boss should tank this add, whilst the boss is positioned near to its location.
When the tanks want to taunt swap for the
扭曲欲望
, they should also taunt swap on this add as to keep the
无边悔罪
stacks to a minimum.
The DPS should focus down this add quickly whilst cleaving damage onto the boss.
33% Empowerment:
浓缩心能
轻度浓缩心能
is upgraded into
浓缩心能
when the
浓缩心能容器
reaches 33% energy.
This simply applies
被定身在心能中
to the player who initially received the
浓缩心能
debuff for 10 seconds, preventing them from moving at all with the debuff.
Players should attempt to be within a reasonably close range of the boss when the ability is about to be cast as to allow the tanks to drag the boss nearby so that the add can be quickly picked up by the tanks.
Spells that remove root effects, such as
自由祝福
, do not remove the
被定身在心能中
snare. There is currently no known way of removing the root, aside from letting it expire.
66% Empowerment:

is upgraded into

when the
浓缩心能容器
reaches 66% energy.
This causes the player afflicted with
浓缩心能
to send out several
暗影残片
orbs when the debuff expires.
These small red orbs will slowly travel away from the player in all directions, dealing very high shadow damage to anyone in the path.
To make dodging these orbs easier, all other players should ensure that they are 10-15+ yards away from the debuffed player, as this will give them sufficient time to dodge any incoming orbs.
Tanks will also need to maintain this distance, but once they are able to see a clear path towards the add, they should quickly move towards it as to make sure that it doesn't melee hit anyone else.

(or any of its upgraded versions) is cast, one additional player will receive a debuff.
One debuff will always spawn the

add, but whilst the other debuff will spawn a

add.
The
咒法具象
add is immobile and does not need to be tanked. It simply spam casts

, dealing very high shadow damage to the raid after a 6 second long interruptible cast.
When interrupted, the add will not be spell-locked and will simply begin to recast the spell.
Spawn the adds near the boss and interrupt their
判罪
casts!
All players afflicted with the debuff should move close to the boss as to spawn the adds close together to allow for easy cleave damage between them and the boss.
As soon as they spawn, the adds should be marked with a raid icon and players should start interrupting each add on a rotation.
These rotations need to consist of 2/3 players with 14 second cooldown interrupts, or 4/5 players with 24 second cooldown interrupts.
The
咒法具象
add should be killed as soon as possible, as doing so reducing the time that the raid has to mess up an interrupt.
When
浓缩心能
is cast and the players are rooted via the
被定身在心能中
snare, these adds will no longer be that close together.
Due to their immobile nature, it is impossible to gather them up once they have spawned.
Ideally, the entire raid should stand close to the boss to spawn the adds nearby. Players may need to use damage reduction cooldowns if they are going to splash damage onto one another when their debuff drops.
If the adds spawn far apart, the tanks have to move to the
被掌控的幽灵
add, but DPS shouldn't just slam the boss and that add, as the
咒法具象
adds still take priority.
Mythic Lady Inerva Darkvein in Castle Nathria
Zero-Sum Game
On Mythic difficulty, whenever an anima container is drained of energy, all other closed anima containers will gain the energy drained.
As one anima container is locked and closed at all times due to
聚焦心能
, players can no longer drain any meaningful amount of anima from any containers.
This is because the anima drained will simply flow into the
聚焦心能
container, quickly filling it and likely triggering a
容器破缺
.
In practice, this means that once an ability is empowered, the raid is forced to deal with it for the rest of the encounter.
As
聚焦心能
is cast after the boss takes 25% health or after 100 seconds, the raid can substantially reduce the amount of energy a container gains by dealing a lot of damage to the boss.
This can force the boss to switch her
聚焦心能
container early which could skip a 66% empowerment for a large portion of the encounter.
Raid teams with low damage, especially at the beginning of the tier, will struggle to do this and will instead need to handle each of these empowered mechanics as they come along.
Simple Geometry
When

(or any of its empowered versions) are cast, four

orbs will spawn instead of three.
The additional orb will always spawn within close range of another orb.
The player who goes to that set of orbs is responsible for positioning themselves in such a way that they cut two orbs with their beam, instead of one.
The other two players can simply deal with this mechanic in the same way that they did on lower difficulties.

Just tried and wiped on this 14 times in a pug, the only thing we kept running into are the following
On the fourth canister at 100% it repeatedly overloads, it's a DPS race. Keep that fourth canister at 0% for when she gets there to have the best shot.
The real pain in the ass is that if someone dies while having the Orb debuff, that's it. They can't finish the line. Seems like a dumb move to have on Normal at least, we had people dying with the orb and that makes everyone take massive damage or we have to waste a battle res. Would be a far superior boss fight if the orb jumped targets rather than screwing over the entire raid because that person can no longer move. So keep heals on whoever gets the orb debuffs because if someone gets it and dies GG.

To remove the orbs, Here is a nice strategy for normal/heroic.
- Player A and B (possibly assign marks to do this) make the line in between them cross any two orbs like: A---O------O---B.
- Once they set the position, player C moves parallel to make either of the line (towards A or B) cross the last orb.
A---O--------O--B
......... O
C ---move--->
For mythic, player A will go to the exact position by the following:
- Find the shortest edge of the quadrilateral.
- Imagine a triangle, by extending the two edges next to the shortest one.
- Stand on the imaginary vertex.
Now other two players make their line connected with A be crossing two orbs each.
It seems tedious in text, but it is quite simple if you draw a figure.

I wanted to put a tip here also, Prot Warriors can Spell Reflect her cast of Expose Desires, and Contagion. If timed correctly you can basically solo tank the main boss. I had a couple mistimed casts, but I was able to tank her for about 85% of the encounter. Prot Warrior is on the weaker end overall but this was very nice in my raid last night. Maybe consider running a Warrior and a bear that can catweave or owlweave when there are no adds to increase the damage. The spell reflect does not appear to do damage back to the boss, but it does prevent a stack of the debuff from going on the tank, allowing the stack to drop off before ever reaching 2 stacks of the debuff. This was on normal, and may change for mythic and heroic, or blizzard may remove this all together, but for now it is something to consider.

When I raid on normal difficulty with my guild I like to be the *canister lady* so that nobody else has to worry about which canisters are open, what % they're on, and if we're going to have enough time to kill her when she casts Focus Anima on the 4th anima container. Here's my strategy that has worked pretty flawlessly so far for if the canisters are causing you issues in your fights.
There are three aims here: Never have more than one canister open at a time, minimise the amount of time more than one canister is above 33%, and give your raid the maximum amount of time to DPS the boss down when she switches focus to the last canister.
Firstly, you'll ideally need to be a ranged DPS with good mobility. I play a mage, but a shaman or druid could also work great. You're going to be running between the two sides of the area and so having good mobility and also being able to do damage on your way would be ideal!
I'm going to be referring to the canisters as 1, 2, 3 and 4 from left to right when facing the boss. Also, all of these directions should be done whilst attacking the boss and dealing with the other mechanics such as soaks and orbs :)
At the beginning of the fight, head to the right. When canister 4 reaches 6%, open it and run to canister 2. (You don't have to worry about closing it because it will hit 0% and close)
When canister 4 reaches 0%, open canister 2 and drain to 0%.
When Lady Inerva switches Focus Anima over to canister 2, drain canister 1 down to 20%.
Once canister 1 is on 20%, close it and open canister 3 and drain to 0%.
If you have time before Lady Inerva switches her focus again, open canister 4 and drain as low as you can.
When she switches Focus Anima to canister 3, close any open canisters and drain canister 2 to 20%.
Close canister 2 and drain canister 4 to 0%
The amount of time you have until she switches focus to canister 4 will depend on how much damage your raid is doing. If canister 4 reaches 0% and starts ticking back up, wait for it to hit 6% and then drain it back to 0%. (Rince and repeat)
Also be keeping an eye on canisters 1 and 2. If they go above 33%, you'll want to open them for a few seconds each to get them down to 20-25%.
Once Lady Inerva switches focus to canister 4, close any open canisters and drain canister 3 down to 20-25%. This last part of the fight is a race to kill the boss before the 4th anima canister reaches 100%, so close the 3rd anima canister on 20% if you have time, but dealing damage to the boss is the most important step so don't worry if you let it drain down to 0%.
TL;DR Always try to have Inerva cast her focus anima on an empty canister. The canisters cause damage to the raid whilst draining, so only ever have one draining at a time, and call out to your healers when you're opening and closing canisters if possible. When my guild runs this, I pretty much always have one canister draining at any one time, and so long as everybody else is doing the mechanics right, the damage from loose anima hasn't caused any problems :)

Not sure when they changed it but it is possible to remove Rooted in Anima from the Container of Concentrated Anima now. with abilities like BoF or Tiger's Lust, shapeshifting, etc.
