Introduction
Ahoy landlubbers! The 6.2 patch added
塔纳安丛林
to the game and in order to get the most out of this new area, players need to build a
Shipyard
to their Garrison. In addition to unlocking all of the Tanaan Jungle content, the Garrison Shipyard allows players to build
Ships
and run
Naval Missions
which offer various rewards like the
Iron Fleet Treasure Chests
and much more.
Players will get a pop up to accept
要塞战役:战争议会
/
要塞战役:战争议会
when entering their level 3 Garrison after the patch 6.2 has landed. This quest starts a questline which ends to constructing the
Lunarfall Shipyard
/
Frostwall Shipyard
to your Garrison. Building the level 1 Shipyard costs 150
要塞物资
and . Progressing further in the Tanaan Jungle and doing a bunch of naval missions will eventually allow the Shipyard to be
upgraded
to levels 2 and 3. Note that the Shipyard is a
separate building
in the Garrison so it doesn't consume any of the existing building plots.
The Shipyard will be located on the coast near the landing site where the players ended up after destroying the Dark Portal in the beginning of the expansion. For Alliance players this area is the
Eventide Landing
and for Horde players
Southwind Shore
. From the next section can be found the
detailed instructions
how to set up your base of naval operations.
Getting Shipyard
Constucting Shipyard and getting into
塔纳安丛林
is a rather straight-forward process as the player doesn't really have any options along the way.
The only prerequisites are that the player is at level 100 and has a level 3 Garrison
up and running.
When you enter your Garrison,
要塞战役:战争议会
/
要塞战役:战争议会
will pop up to your screen. The quest starts a series of quests which eventually lead you to Tanaan Jungle and unlocks the Garrison Shipyard and all its features.
More detailed information of what's involved can be read from the step-by-step guides behind the Alliance and Horde tabs. Please note that the
guides can contain spoilers
and if you want to experience everything by yourself, skip the tabbed content.

Upgrading Shipyard
Even though Shipyard belongs to your Garrison and it has multiple levels, it actually isn't upgraded in the same way as the other buildings in the Garrison. The Garrison Architect Table doesn't even show the Shipyard in it and the upgrading is done by other means.
Level 2
升级舰队
becomes available from your Shipyard Foreman after completing the first blockade mission and doing this quest instantly constructs you the
level 2 Shipyard
. The quest however stops your Shipyard progress for a while as you are required to complete
15 Naval Missions
in order to finish it, BUT it does account for every naval mission you have completed prior to the quest. It also requires 1,000
要塞物资
and but in return your
fleet size will be increased by two
and you'll get
舰船图纸:潜水艇
for building Submarines. Upgrading to level 2 doesn't affect to the Shipyard's appearance.
Also note that the
legendary questline
requires you to have a level 2 Shipyard in order to complete
海上霸主
.
Level 3
Unlocking the
level 3 Shipyard
is pretty much the same thing than with level 2. When you have completed the
升级舰队
, you are presented a follow-up quest to unlock the level 3.
制海权
is similar quest than the previous one, but it will require even more time; you are to complete
25 Naval Treasure Missions
and pay 2,500
要塞物资
and .
The price is a bit salty, but you'll also get some bang for your buck:
fleet size increased to ten ships
and
舰船图纸:航母
to unlock the final ship type, Carrier. In addition, each newly built ship will be at least Rare in quality with an increased chance of being Epic instead. Lastly, level 3 also unlocks an additional
Fleet Command Table
which will be located at the Garrison's Town Hall.

Oil
The Tanaan Jungle patch also introduces players to a new currency
原油
which fits nicely with the whole naval theme. The main purpose of oil is to fuel
naval missions
but it is also used in
building new ships
to your fleet. Oil will definitely be needed as the cost of starting naval missions is higher in overall than starting a follower mission with
要塞物资
. Garrison resources are still needed alongside with oil, but mainly they are used for buying
ship equipment
.
Player gains oil for the first time shortly after building the Shipyard. Afterwards, oil can be obtained in the following ways:
Tanaan Jungle Apexis daily
Tanaan Jungle has its own set of seven Apexis dailies for players. The mechanic is same than with the corresponding Garrison Apexis daily; you can choose between two areas where to do the assault daily. Upon completion the player is rewarded with 2,000
埃匹希斯水晶
and 600
原油
(
750 from the Throne of Kil'Jaeden one
). The daily can be started from the command table in your faction's base in Tanaan Jungle after completing a short questline starting from
西部战事
/
西部战事
.
Tanaan Jungle rare elites
Tanaan Jungle has tons of rare monsters to kill and four of them are particularly nasty. Every rare elite (
德斯塔隆
,
杜姆罗勒
,
泰罗菲斯特
and
维金斯
), which is required to kill to get
地狱灾星
, will yield 100
原油
once per day
when killed.
Garrison missions
A set of follower missions
grant
原油
on successful completion. These missions won't appear on daily basis though. It's possible to increase the oil yield by using followers with the
油猴子
trait. The trait be acquired by using the Inn recruits or rerolling the traits of existing followers.
The 6.2 followers
探矿专家比斯巴克 / 探矿专家古薇尔
/
探矿专家比斯巴克 / 探矿专家古薇尔
are guaranteed to have Greasemonkey, but they require Honored with
先知之手
/
沃金之锋
before you can buy them for .
Naval missions
There exists few Naval missions which yield
原油
as well. However, these missions aren't very common, so don't expect them to be a sustainable source for Oil.
Oil Rig
守备官科索斯
/
暗影猎手德恩加
in your faction's base in Tanaan Jungle sell plans for building an Oil Rig for when you are
Revered
with the respective faction. Building the rig unlocks a unique naval mission
油井:提取地点
to Barrier Sea which rewards 400
原油
. Otherwise naval missions don't have oil as a reward.
One-time bonus objectives and quests
During the Tanaan Jungle Garrison questline, the player is sent to the same locations where the Apexis dailies take place. In these locations, a bonus objective appears which works just like the Apexis dailies. Completing the bonus objective rewards 2,000
埃匹希斯水晶
and 600
原油
but
only once
. It's possible to do one or more bonus objectives and an Apexis daily during the same day.
After building the Shipyard, players can also acquire oil from the few Garrison campaign quests but the amount of oil gained from these quests is rather nominal. The only notable exception is
真正的海军指挥官
/
真正的海军指挥官
which rewards a whooping
1,000
原油
!

Ships
While Shipyard is needed to reach Tanaan Jungle, its main purpose is to give access to the
Naval Missions
. As the name suggests, naval missions are done with
ships
which are built at your Shipyard. In theory, naval missions works like follower missions and ships act like followers since they both base on the same game mechanic but that's about it. Below you can find few main differences between followers and ships:
The key differences between Followers and Ships
Separate maximum amounts for followers and ships
- The fleet size is kept apart from your Garrison follower cap.
Different missions pools
- Followers can't be sent to naval missions and vice versa.
Followers are more permanent than ships
- One can actually
lose ships
during naval missions or even freely decommission the unwanted ships.
Distinct abilities and threats
- Ships and naval missions have their own
ability and threats selections
.
Ships aren't as customizable as followers
- Ships can only be modified by adding
equipment
.
Leveling differences
- Ships don't have level or item level to raise but their quality can be upgraded by gaining experience.
Ships can be considered as stripped down versions of followers which can also be lost. The idea of losing ships may sound ominous, but in the end it's not a big loss. A lost ship can be replaced rather quickly;
building a new one
is rather fast and way less experience is required to upgrade a ship to epic quality than a follower. Of course some ships will be better than others and they will be worth keeping but sometimes building a new ship can be superior to the one which just sank to the bottom of the sea!
How ships work
Ships aren't quite as diverse as followers are. While followers have certain class and specialization coupled with race, ships come only as five different
ship types
:
Battleship
,
Carrier
,
Destroyer
,
Submarine
and
Transport
. The ship type determines the looks of the ship, the build cost and duration and what initial ability (
Type
) each ship has. This ability will
always be the same for each type
. Besides the type dependent ability, each ship will always also have a
Crew
which is randomly decided on the ship generation. Crew works almost like follower traits: each crew has their unique benefit which varies from threat counters to reduced mission duration.
The initial ability and crew can't be rerolled to something else
.
Every ship will also start with two locked
Equipment Slots
. Player can assign different kind of equipments to these slots to directly counter naval threats or give other benefits to ships. The first slot is unlocked when the ship reaches Rare quality and the second one opens upon reaching Epic quality. Whenever an equipment slot unlocks, a random equipment will be assigned to the slot and afterwards
you can replace ship equipment freely
as you please. Unlocking and obtaining equipment is covered in the
Equipment section
.
Like followers, ships gain
experience
from the missions they complete. Ships however don't have experience levels and the experience gained only used to upgrade ship's quality. Generally every new ship starts off at Uncommon quality (
Rare if you possess the level 3 Shipyard
). Sometimes, if you get lucky, a random quality upgrade can occur upon ship construction, directly bumping your new vessel to Rare or Epic. Otherwise, a ship needs 5,000 XP for Rare quality and then 40,000 XP for Epic quality which is notably less than with followers. Upon reaching the epic quality status, ships are upgraded to maximum and they have no further use for experience.
As stated earlier,
ships don't have item levels
which also promotes the fact they are considered as an expendable asset.
-

Building your ships
All your ships will be built at the
Lunarfall Shipyard
/
Frostwall Shipyard
. Your first ship is acquired soon after building the Shipyard. You are given
开始干活
/
开始干活
which shortly leads to building a
Transport
. Along the way you are also given 300
原油
which is needed as the first transport costs 25
要塞物资
and 50
原油
. Constructing the vessel takes one minute and while the transport is being built, a translucent model of the ship is shown on the dock. When the building is completed, the ship becomes fully visible and it can be interracted with. A short cinematic will always be shown after the player has looted the ship.
Having built the first transport, the way to Tanaan Jungle is open and you can go explore its challenges. However, before you can actually do any naval missions, you have to finish the ongoing questline. After your assault base is established in the Tanaan Jungle, you are sent back to Shipyard (
船坞汇报
/
船坞汇报
) for some practice naval missions and to amass your fleet.
Raising and managing your own armada
Few puny vessels won't really cut it if you are to go head to head against the various naval mission opponents. Fortunately, your workers at the Shipyard are always ready to build more ships at your disposal. Every new ship is ordered from your friendly shipwright;
亚纳斯·蹈海
for Alliance players and
索洛格·拉克
for Horde players. They are located at the Shipyard and the same NPC was used to built the initial transport.
Every new ship costs some
要塞物资
and
原油
depending of the ship's type. When built, ships will generally come as Uncommon quality with a chance for a random quality upgrade to either Rare or Epic. If you have
upgraded
to a level 3 Shipyard, each ship will be
at least rare
in quality with an increased chance of coming as epic.
The ships you build during the first few Shipyard quests take only one minute to complete, but later on the
construction time depends on the ship type
; build times vary from 30 minutes to two hours. Mind that it is only possible to built one ship at the time despite the fact that the Shipwright's window resembles a window which is used to start Work Orders. You can track the building progress from the Garrison Report pane. If you are in a hurry, you can always make the building process instant with a
加急订单:船坞
which are sold by the
Naval Equipment Specialists
(
“老水手”乔伦
/
库隆克·锈火
) at your Shipyard for 0
要塞物资
.
Initially your fleet size is
limited to six ships
with
level 1 Shipyard
.
Upgrading
it to level 2 will add two ships more to your fleet and finally when building a level 3 Shipyard, your fleet size will be 10 ships.
Because the fleet size is rather limited, you may end up in a situation where you need to get rid of some redundant vessels. This is where the
ship decommissioning
comes into play: whenever your fleet size is capped, you can permanently dismantle any ship to create room for new ships. Decommissioning a ship can be done from the
Naval Command Table
's
Fleet
tab by right-clicking the wanted ship from the list of ships - in a similar way like you are used to deactivate followers. Mind that decommissioning a ship
doesn't refund any resources
and the operation is
irreversible
so choose wisely.
Ship Types
In total there are five different ship types available:
Battleship
,
Carrier
,
Destroyer
,
Submarine
and
Transport
. The differences between the ship types (
besides the looks
) are the initial ability they start with, the cost to build them and how long is their construction time. For example,
Carriers
will always come with the ability
航母
while every
Submarine
will have
潜水艇
. Initially you can only build Transports and you'll unlock rest of the types as you progress in the Shipyard questline.
Having different kind of ships in your fleet also shows visually: each ship type has a set location at the Shipyard where a ship model will appear when at least one ship from the corresponding ship type exists. It doesn't matter whether the ships are on a mission or not - the models will always be visible nevertheless.
Below you can find a breakdown of the ship types; their initial abilities, what they cost, how long does it take to build them and how they are unlocked.

Ship Naming
Naturally every ship will have a name. Warlords of Draenor introduced several prenamed followers with certain ways how to obtain them like
纳特·帕格
. This won't apply to ships as generally they are built and not found or rewarded, but naturally
few exceptions
exist.
When a certain type of ship has completed building, the ship will randomly get picked from a selection of corresponding ship type templates. These template ship names are all based to Warcraft lore characters, locations and whatnot. This whole ship selection process can be compared to recruiting followers from the
Inn/Tavern
.
Unlike with followers, you are allowed to
rename your ships
. Ship renaming is done from the
Naval Command Table
the same way as decommissioning a ship.
Here's a compilation of links to every ship type for both factions for those wanting to discover what kind of ship names there are:

Crews
In order to stay afloat, your ships also need a crew. All ships have a crew (
mostly
) from your faction's races; each one having a certain perk to help with the naval missions in various ways. On rare occasions it's also possible to get crew from the non-playable races of Warcraft universe. Both factions have access
almost
(
compare Draenic and Orc crews
) to the same perks which the different crews have to offer.
The crew which you get upon building a new ship is
random
and it is also
permanent
. Changing to a different crew isn't possible.

Equipment
Every new ship has two locked
equipment slots
of which the first one unlocks when a ship upgrades to rare quality and the second one unlocks upon dinging the vessel to epic. As the name indicates, you can equip your ships with different kind of parts to help you out in the naval missions. Some equipment give direct threat counters while others offer various other special powers to your ships.
Upon unlocking an equipment slot, some random equipment will always be assigned to that slot. Later on, a replacing piece of an equipment can be added by right-clicking the item in your inventory and then targeting the wanted equipment slot from the ship you want to use it on. You however
can't use the same equipment twice
to a ship. Keep in mind that
ship equipment can be replaced
so you aren't stuck with the initial equipment the ships are given. This also gives some room for errors when assigning the equipment by yourself.
Obtaining Ship Equipment
Most of the ship equipment is learnt and unlocked from the
equipment blueprints
. Each blueprint starts a quest which is turned into your faction's
Naval Equipment Specialist
who also sells the ship equipment. These vendors hang around in your Shipyard; Alliance players buy their equipment from
“老水手”乔伦
while Horde players do their shopping from
库隆克·锈火
. All pieces of equipment cost 500
要塞物资
.
The first equipment is learnt from an early Shipyard quest (
武装舰队
/
武装舰队
). Rest of the equipment blueprints can be found from various locations in Tanaan Jungle - mostly as drops from rare mobs. Note that
the equipment blueprints are account-wide
so you only have to collect them once!
Any rare monster
in Tanaan Jungle can drop one of the nine equipment blueprints obtainable from the rare monsters. Getting a blueprint drop this way isn't guaranteed. However, each of the nine blueprints are tied to some certain rare monster and killing them will always yield the corresponding equipment blueprint with a 100% drop chance. The list of these rare mobs can be found from the table below.
While you mostly buy the equipment from your equipment vendor NPC, it's also possible to obtain the equipment by doing naval missions. Having a
侏儒船员
/
巨魔船员
on any of the ships participating a mission grants you a chance to get some equipment from
successful missions
. Note that you can't receive any equipment which you haven't already unlocked.
Below are all the equipment in-game; where do you acquire them, what unlocks them and what's their purpose. The equipment are categorized into tabs by their purpose:

Special Ships
The general rule with ships is that almost every ship you can get is randomly decided after building them, but as always,
there are some exceptions
. Some of these exceptions have a rather big impact to gameplay so it's worthwhile to keep your eyes open. This short subsection gathers these anomalies to a same place for the interested. More vessels will be added when needed.

Naval Missions
While follower missions are operated from the Command Table, naval missions won't ever show up in it. Instead, naval missions are started from the
Fleet Command Table
which is located down at the Shipyard.
海军指挥官
/
海军指挥官
leads you to the table for the first time. After upgrading the Shipyard to level 3,
another
Fleet Command Table appears also to your Garrison's Town Hall.
Players are accustomed to use
要塞物资
for follower missions but the naval missions are suitably fueled by
原油
. You can
obtain oil
mostly from from the new Tanaan Jungle Apexis dailies (
600 oil each
), by killing the Tanaan Jungle rare elites and from several
follower missions
(
increased by
油猴子
follower trait
).
Basics
The Naval Mission user interface is slightly different from the Garrison Mission UI. The interface has two different tabs: Naval Map and Fleet. The
Fleet
tab (
Naval Fleet
) is used view and manage your ships; namely equip, rename and decommission them. A similar tab can be found from the Garrison Report pane as well without the options to rename and dismantle your ships.
Naval Map
tab (
Naval Operations
) is where all the action happens. Instead of a list of missions you are given the map of Draenor which shows the currently available missions as distinct icons which stands for the
mission's category
. In the beginning you can access only few missions near your Garrison waters but after advancing in the Shipyard questlines, more missions will become available.
The naval map is divided into
quadrants
which represent the seas of Draenor. By default, three of these quadrants are always initially locked and your need to complete the corresponding
Blockade Mission
in order to unlock the missions from a quadrant. For example, Horde players need to successfully complete a version of
封锁线:隔绝之海
before they can do the Hellfire Citadel related naval missions.
Naval missions are always tied to their respective quadrant. This means that missions will always appear in the same sea and a mission can't ever appear on two different seas. In fact, every naval mission has a fixed location in their quadrant. The naval map quadrants are as follows (
clicking the quadrant name will show every mission in that particular area
):
-
Barrier Sea
- northeast
-
Evanescent Sea
- southeast (
starting quadrant
)
-
The South Sea
- southwest
-
Zangar Sea
- northwest (
starting quadrant
)
Starting a naval mission
is basically the same thing you've done several times before with the follower missions. First you select a mission you want to embark on and you are then shown the mission details and opponents. Next you drag the ship(s) you want to send to the mission and start the mission assuming you have the required
原油
for it. The Naval Map will now update to show a ship icon in the mission's location coupled with the time how long will it take to complete.
Note that in general naval missions are longer than follower missions; mission durations range from four hours up to two days. Fortunately,
加急任务指令
also work with the naval missions so it's possible occasionally to skip those tediously long missions. You can acquire Completion Orders every now and then from the level 2 or 3
Mage Tower
/
Spirit Lodge
work orders.
All ongoing naval missions are shown in the Garrison Report pane and upon completion, you are shown the mission outcome of each finished mission. You can
speed up this process by repeatedly pressing the space bar
to skip the animations.

Mechanics
Naval missions use pretty much the same mechanics what follower missions use: each mission has enemies with (naval) threats you need to counter in order to get the bonus loot. Despite the mission's outcome, the mission base XP is always yielded to the participating ships; assuming of course you didn't
lose
any ship on a mission failure (
you can prevent the ship destruction altogether by increasing the success chance above 90%
). It's also worthwhile to mention that naval missions
don't generate salvage
in the case you have a
Salvage Yard
in your Garrison.
For naval missions, it's only logical that the
threats
you'll encounter differ from the threats in the follower missions. In naval missions you won't encounter threats similar than the Environment/Race threats in follower missions. These extra threats appear as enemies instead, like the Chaotic Whirlpool in the picture above.
It's good to know that
some countered threats contribute more to the mission success chance
than the others.
Type threats
are naval threats which come from a ship type (
战列舰
,
航母
,
驱逐舰
and
潜水艇
) coupled with
地面目标
. It's especially vital to deal these threats first as countering them gives the biggest increase to the success chance - over three times more than countering any of the other naval threats! Type threats can be identified from a different icon border in the mission screen.
Every naval threat you'll encounter and the ways to counter them can be found from below table (

Naval calculator
is a very good tool to try out different setups when wondering what equipment to use on your ships in order to reach the highest possible mission chance. The calculator can be found embedded to every naval mission's page.
Area Buffs
Naval missions come with an entirely new mechanic which allows players to gain
area buffs
which affect some specific area of the naval map for the given duration. The buffs always
last for 5 days
and affect every mission which is located inside the respective area. When an area buff is active, an animated circle is shown over the area it is affecting and hovering this circle shows the remaining buff duration. Every mission affected also receive an animated golden glow.
Unfortunately, it's not up to you to decide when to apply these buffs. Instead, they are rewarded from
naval bonus missions
and successfully completing one of these bonus missions, an area-specific buff will be applied. The exact location where the buff will be cast can be seen from a very distinct circle (
like in the image
) above the target area when you mouseover the bonus mission's icon in the naval map.
There aren't many naval buffs available at this moment, but the current ones are listed to below:

Countering
专业船长
Every naval threat can be countered in some way except one; the
Expert Captain
threat can cause problems as
no ship type, equipment or area buff will directly counter it
. You need to deal this threat in some other way as there are quite
many naval missions where it appears
. Luckily there exists a handful of ways which aid countering Expert Captain since they all directly increase the success chance by
the same amount
:
Name:
Type:
Effect:
制空权
Area Buff
Increases success chance.
英勇的私掠船

人类船员

.(you can only get these randomly when you unlock equipment slots)
自动航空雷达
Equipment
额外舱房
Equipment
Q-43噪音水雷
Equipment
声呐增幅器
Equipment
Note that you will always need
two effects
from the above list
to beat one
Expert Captain. For example, only a ship handled by
人类船员
and buffed by
制空权
would be enough to counter one occurrence of
专业船长
. This means that in some missions reaching 100% success chance will require very optimal conditions because of the Expert Captain threat (
example
).
熊猫人船员
also increases the missions success chance, but it's a bit more effective than the effects above. It contributes about
38% (
unverified
) more to the success chance than what the other effects do
and the mission duration needs to be 12 hours or more before it activates. While the Pandaren crew values more, most of the times it still won't be enough alone to reach 100% success chance on the harder missions.
How Naval Mission Success Chance calculation works
To back up the claim stated above, here's some proof how the mission success chance works under the hood. Lets first define few things which we will use later on:
S
= The number of ships the player can send to the mission
T
= The number of Type threats in the mission (
Battleship/Carrier/Destroyer/Land Objective/Submarine
)
O
= The number of all Other threats (
non-Type
) in the mission
B
= Mission's base success chance
We can calculate how much a ship contributes to the success chance without ANY threat counters or buffs i.e. just by attending to the mission, lets call this value ship
Attendance
(A):
100 - B
A = ----------------
(S + 10T + 3O)
Basically Attendance raises when the amount of threats in the mission diminish and vice versa. But why do we need it? It's because everything in the success chance calculation bases to this value. How much each countered threat weights, Type or Other, is a multiple of the ship Attendance:
Type threat: 10 * Attendance
Other threat: 3 * Attendance
This also leads us to why we are here the first place:
every
area buff/crew/equipment which increases the mission success chance
are all worth the same the amount
and this amount is equal than the value of 1.5 * Attendance. Because Expert Captain is a non-Type threat, according to what's above, you need to find two effects to increase success chance to counter it.
This gives us the formula for the mission success chance for naval missions:
SuccessChance% = B + A * (S + 10t + 3o + 1,5I)
where
t
and
o
are the type/other threats
countered
and
I
is the number of area buffs/crews/equipment which increase the mission success chance. The final result is
rounded normally
in the mission screen.
Finally, lets also how all this works with our example mission,
All Fel Breaks Loose
. Lets break the mission down first:
S = 2
T = 2
O = 5
B = 30
A = 1,891891... (
using the formula above
)
Now we of course want to counter both type threats (
航母
and
潜水艇
) as they weight the most. From the other threats we can directly counter
漩涡乱流
,
布雷舰
,
紧急任务
and
机动规避
. Countering them all uses up all the equipment slots, but we still need to counter the one remaining
专业船长
.
Assuming we have been lucky and we got
人类船员
on both our vessels, we can counter the Expert Captain as the mission's success chance is now at 100%. We could have used another crew in either of the ships if we got the last required buff elsewhere. The only solution is this case would probably be an active area buff like
制空权
which would bump the success chance to 100%.
Losing ships
Danger lurks in every naval mission in the form of ship destruction. If the mission success chance is below 90%, a naval mission can
permanently destroy your ships
which is something that can't happen with the followers. The lower the success chance is below 90%, the higher the chance is to lose ships to a mission failure and if you fail completing a naval mission, there's a chance for
each
ship to be permanently destroyed.
While keeping the mission success chance above the required percentage is a cheap way to prevent the ship destruction, it is also possible to negate this danger by equipping your ship(s) with
防沉护盾
. It protects your ship from the fatal blow, but the equipment will be removed when triggered.
Ship destruction isn't always a bad thing because sometimes you might want to get rid of some unwanted ships. But in general, when sending your vessels to missions, it's a good idea have the success chance of 90% or more to ensure your ships will also return safely home!

Mission categories
Every naval mission belongs to some category and while these categories don't really have a direct impact to the mission outcome, they affect other things in-game. One solid example would be the
naval mission related achievements
where you need to complete certain amount of naval missions belonging into the same category like
海军训练专员
. Even more hands-on example are the mentioned
blockade missions
which prevent players doing most naval missions outside their faction's home quadrant.
Each mission category has their own
distinct icon
in the naval map and elsewhere in the user interfaces. Mission category name hints what one can expect from the mission but this isn't always the case. For example, successful naval treasure missions always reward either oil or some item but this doesn't mean other mission categories won't yield item rewards or oil.
Here are all the different naval mission categories and brief explanations of them:
Training
Naval
training missions
are the first missions you'll encounter when doing naval missions for the first time. In accordance with the name, these missions are considered easier than the missions from the other categories; they have fewer enemies and threats. They also are relatively short in terms of mission duration (
up to 4 hours
).
Combat
Probably the most common mission category player runs across. Naval
combat missions
come from a large pool of missions of which rewards vary from huge chunks of experience to epic items. The longest combat missions take up to 18 hours to complete.
Treasure
In terms of difficulty and duration, naval
treasure missions
are pretty much on par with the combat missions. These mission have always either gold or some item reward. In general, treasure missions are more scarce than the combat missions.
Blockade
(
)
These special naval
blockade missions
prevent players from doing naval missions in the quadrant where the blockade mission is located. In-game they are also refered as siege missions. The map icon for these missions is a very distinct banner. Succesfully completing a blockade mission reveals the corresponding area of the naval map and unlocks all the missions within. Blockade missions always lasts for 30 minutes and
blockades reappear after a week.
Bonus
Naval
bonus missions
appear every now and then offering an unique reward to players: an
area buff
which will affect certain map area and every naval mission within. Five different area buffs offer things like increase to success chance or boost to gold gains from naval missions. Every bonus mission runs for 4 hours.
Oil
It's a bit misleading to talk about naval oil missions as a category because only
one
mission belongs to it. This mission appears only after the player has acquired enough reputation with
先知之手
/
沃金之锋
and has built themselves an
Oil Rig
. From that point on, the mission
油井:提取地点
appears to Barrier Sea, rewarding 400
原油
. This mission is available
always
.
Legendary
Missions from this category are most probably the least common. Naval
legendary missions
are essentially tied with the Warlords of Draenor
legendary questline
. Five naval missions form a chain you need to complete in order to continue to proceed in the questline. They also provide an optional way to obtain the legendary items needed in the different phases of the questline, like
消魔之石
.

Notable rewards
As one can assume, naval mission provide more than just experience to your ships. There's actually a decent of amount of missions rewarding useful items whether you are a raider, a collector or just gearing up alts. The tabs below list every noteworthy reward which you can acquire from naval missions. These lists however don't contain every non-XP reward in them to reduce the clutter.

Legendary questline
The Warlords of Draenor
legendary ring questline
continues along the patch 6.2 and the Shipyard is in key role in it. After the player has completed the introductory quests and settled in the
塔纳安丛林
,
大法师卡德加
awaits you at the Shipyard where you can hand in the
最后突击
.
Khadgar will offer you two new quests,
我们借书不用卡
and
海上霸主
. The former is done in
地狱火堡垒
and involves gathering items from the Hellfire Citadel raid bosses. The latter one however requires the player to raise up a fleet and do several naval missions.
The journey starts gently as
海上霸主
requires you to
upgrade
the Shipyard to level 2. That was the easy part as next Khadgar gives you
王对王
. He wants you to acquire the
德拉诺海图
which is a reward from the
登上主宰使命号
.
As you probably figured out by now, this won't be a simple snatch and grab task. Before you can wreak havoc in the Gul'dan's flagship Master's Call, you need to find it first. In practice, this means you need to complete a series of naval missions which increase in difficulty the further they go. So for once, be prepared! The missions appear in the following order:
擒贼擒王
提供线索
公海上的伏击
趁胜追击
登上主宰使命号
If you are running into problems with these mission, be sure to check out the
Completing Naval Missions for the Legendary Questline guide
. This guide helps you nail down the missions and advises what is required in order to beat them.
In any case, when the Master's Call sleeps with the fishes, you can turn in the quest and proceed to the next part. Naval missions have played their part now and won't be needed again in the questline.

About this guide
When it came to my knowledge that patch 6.2 was adding new content which based to the same mechanics than followers, I thought that this needs to be in
my follower guide
. So the Shipyard was added and I started to brainstorm how to implent ships to my follower guide. At first I just planned to add an entire new section for the ships and work from there. However, after being touch with
perculia
and thinking things outside the box, it became more obvious that a new section just won't cut it. Followers and ships were just too different despite they essentially had the same thing running under the hood.
So... Ship guide was born and I started testing things in the PTR to grasp ships' and naval missions' functionality. To my luck, Shipyard and everything including to it wasn't as vast concept as the followers so I decided to include naval missions to the guide as well. More PTR builds came along and at some point my mind started to lean towards writing a full scale Shipyard guide. Having talked a bit more with perculia, I just nailed the thing down and there was no turning back. All or nothing.
I don't even know how long it has taken me to write this guide. I have written bits and pieces here and there, depending heavily on how things have evolved in the PTR. Some parts of the guide has been finished for weeks while some sections are rather new. It has been rather fun journey to tackle this guide and I hope that many people find it useful when claiming their naval superiority over the Iron Horde!
Any suggestions, comments or corrections are more than welcome to keep this guide's information as accurate as possible. I have not been able to test thoroughly every aspect of the Shipyard so any help is appreciated. Nevertheless, I'll keep on adding new information and fixing the existing one as needed.
Thank you
for reading this guide!

I have to say, Tritox, I was pretty excited to see this guide with you as author. I have consulted your excellent and comprehensive follower guide many times since the release of Warlords. This one is another example of your concise writing style, and the hard work just to benefit us, the player base, will most certainly be appreciated.
Well done, and thank you so much. :)

Don't wanna upgrade to L3 Garrison.

Thanks for the guide.
Can you clarify how often the Oil Rig mission appears? The mission page says duration and availability "1 day", so maybe that answers my question on its own, but I'm not sure.
For example, I start the mission at noon on Monday, meaning it should be complete at noon on Tuesday. Will it immediately appear as available (i.e. noon on Tuesday), at noon on Wednesday (the 1 day availability?), or some indeterminate time in the future?

Excellent guide
for the most part, however some things are wrong (as of PTR build 20141).
Ships are like followers when using retraining items: ship crews are like follower traits and a ship's equipment is like a follower's abilities.

Will re-roll a ship's crew and equipment.
To my knowledge (PTR experience) ship crews have always been able to be re-rolled, and equipment has been able to be re-rolled since ship equipment changed from being permanent and non-replaceable (with the exception of Unsinkable which is destroyed when used) to being replaceable at will.
I would like to add that you can use
加急任务指令
to instantly complete shipyard missions just like follower missions.

just off the coast of Tanaan Jungle. There is a giant whale shark that you need to kill with a massive amount of HP, we had a 40 man raid set up to get it done and were successful. Not sure if anyone else has achieved this yet but wanted to put my two cents in.
The ships do randomly upgrade to rare or epic when created, I had one of my ships upgrade to rare last night.

The guide has several pieces of ship equipment listed as "Not Yet Implemented" - I would assume that is due to the fact that there are no items/blueprints to place in equipment slots.
However, I got a rare destroyer with the Extra Quarters equipment already equipped.
I think that implies that the equipment that have no blueprints/items are ones that only show up when the ships upgrade and receive a random piece of equipment.

Since I've lost a few ships after only skimming the guide (the guide was much clearer to me than the game's tutorial): despite the tutorial mission where one of your ships will be destroyed as part of the tutorial being marked "Dangerous Mission," you can lose ships on ANY mission that fails as opposed to only those marked "Dangerous Mission" (which is what I mistakenly "learned" from that intro mission).

Thank you for the guide. I find myself confused though, why do you say 10% bonus for race etc? I went through the elaborate maths and they seem to perfectly agree with in-game outcomes, but nothing in them suggests 10%. It's obviously not a static bonus in the first place, but even so, even for the smallest of missions (training: sub vs. carrier), it cannot grant that much.

Sad news: all those "10% bonus to mission success chance" are not actually 10%. They range from 2% to 4% increase depending on mission and stack additively, can be easily checked even from wowhead mission calculator.
Unlike with garrison followers, it seems impossibile to build a team capable of having 100% success chance on all high-rewarding missions. This, coupled with the chance to lose ships permanently on mission fail, will mean that we'll waste a lot of resources on the Shipyard.

LOST-IN-TIME SHIPYARD MISSIONS.... And I'm still playing with myself at Prison Garrison.
(ty for this guide but...)
Why I dislike Shipyards missions?
1) It's the same idea as garrison missions with few modifications.* Its a desk on a beach dude...
a) Longer missions 24 hr, 2days etc... I don't see the fun in that. Ain't a Bonzaï it's Wow! Cuts alot off possibilities when you send 2 ships for 2 days on a single mission so you wait and wait....
b) Lots of requirements for a mission with an handfull of ships.
c) It takes a long time to xp a ship and you risk of losing it even at 90%? so you don't risk it , you wait and wait for a 100%success rate. So even thought 10 missions are avialiable 2 or 3 are doable in a day not to mention missions already in queue( those mission at 2-3 days interval those ships you needed are on CD).
2) The gold ain't there I don't see any good way to get rich with those Shipyards missions, takes too long.
a) Far away from your town hall desk... Aint alt friendly (even if you had flying or a compass to port you there its still 30 sec to load/DC an alt then port in/port out (another 20 sec on loading) after a few alts you'll get bored to death waiting on the game to load.
b) I'm really happy in a sense that it aint rewarding as much as Gmissions. Won't be my next 3D drug for sure.
3) It's complicated to a point that rewards won't matter anymore.
It's meant for doing achievements on your main and that's all there is to it.
*How about treant missions Ex.: you go into a forest very far away (to piss ppl out of their townhalls doing no pve/pvp interaction) Treants really hate humanoids in their forest and missions are all about killing zombies bla bla bla..., could be airplanes missions... bottom line you will get the point that Wow as gone too far. More content sometimes means less players in Bg, pvp or in Raids, longer queues ( do you need to wait to play ?)
After pokemon fights, missions, playing with yourself at Prison Garrison, they had to do another boring move and somehow WOWsudoku and WOWCrossword Puzzle will appear in the next patch...( hope not but Wow ain't the same do you feel it?)
*******************************************************************************************************************************
Just to mention: you could play wow without being connected to internet now because nearly 50% of the content doesn't require any interaction with other players what so ever. A friend of mine did his own private server at home and gave his alts godlike powers like: solo raiding new content, instant Ilvl 715 gear etc.., he played wow 3 hrs and got bored and went to play Battlefield instead :)
I miss 3D shooters, Halo , call of duty , Doom 2, starcraft 2, warcraft 2. Age of Empires... Fast paced enjoyable games. Wow as gone into a meditative state I don't see this appealing for the avg Joe.
If you think its more content look again: I counter red with blue wait 4 hrs then I get useless OIL? or even worse XP for a boat? Gush I'm the best player ever! got a boat to an epic status on a 2D map! YARRRR

You say:
* = note that you can only get the missions rewarding Iron Fleet Treasure Chests which correspond to your current personal raid progress.
It isn't true. A fellow guilder of mine had killed 2 normal bosses and got a mission with Normal loot.
I killed 8 bosses and I've got a mission with Raid finder loot.
If anything, it might depend on average ilvl, but not on how many bosses in the HFC you've killed.

If a ship gets destroyed or if you decommission it, is it possible for that ship to appear again when you create a new ship? For example, if the "Bonus Roll" transport gets sunk and I build a bunch more transports, will the "Bonus Roll" (with the same crew, etc) have a chance to be rebuilt?

Now that many missions have had their duration reduced, the usefulness of a pandaren crew is very much reduced as well. Barring new hotfixes, you may wish to send ships with pandaren crews out on risky missions.
Edit: However, Legendary naval missions still remain at 2 days. Just don't send ships with elf crews along. Also, the pandaren crew buff now kicks in if your mission lasts 18 hours or more.

You can save Moira's hammer from destruction, if you rush build a battleship and send it for the submarine.
It does not break the quest chain either as it will fail.
I wonder if it is possible to complete that mission, by having a battleship countering first strike however.

Something worth mentioning is that if you decommission a ship you don't get any mats back at all. It's just destroyed.

After some calculations on the treasure missions (25 of them permit to obtain the Carrier)
other than the rare missions it appears that the threats to counter are :
Threats Countered with Number of mission
Destroyer Battleship 34
Evasive True Iron Rudder 32
Swift Blast Furnace 28
First Strike Felsmoke Launcher 21
Minelayer Trained Shark Tank 21
Carrier Submarine 18
Submarine Destroyer 16
Land Objective Transport/Murloc Crew 11
Battleship Carrier/Arakkoa Crew 8
Dense Fog Fog Lights/Draenic Crew 5
Icy Water Ice Cutter/Orc Crew 5
Stormy Weather Bilge Pump 5
Cursed Crew - 3
So at the begining, to get the 25 treasures missions, it appears that the optimum compo should be like:
3 Battleships (so really important to get the reputation in the jungle)
2 Destroyers
2 Submarines
1 Transport
and we should equip them in priority (in brackets the number of missions with that threat) :
Evasive True Iron Rudder (up to 4, one on each type of vessel)
Swift Blast Furnace (up to 3, Battleships (19), Submarine (11), Destroyer (8), Transport (8))
First Strike Felsmoke Launcher (up to 3, Submarine (13), Battleships (11), Destroyer (6), Transport (6))
Minelayer Trained Shark Tank (up to 3, Battleships (14), Submarine (9), Destroyer (5), Transport (4))
Dense Fog Fog Lights (only 1 on a Battleships (3) or Destroyer (2))
Icy Water Ice Cutter (only 1 on a Battleships (3) or Destroyer (2))
Stormy Weather Bilge Pump (only 1 on a Submarine (3) or Destroyer (2))
So up to 16 improvements when all the vessels are epic, for example :
Battleships True Iron Rudder, Blast Furnace, Felsmoke Launcher, Trained Shark Tank, Fog Lights, Ice Cutter
Destroyers True Iron Rudder, Blast Furnace, Felsmoke Launcher, Trained Shark Tank
Submarines True Iron Rudder, Bilge Pump, Felsmoke Launcher, Trained Shark Tank
Transport True Iron Rudder, Blast Furnace
Notice that Apexis Crystal missions are treasure missions but not legendary one.
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Edit of July the 13 : When the 25 Treasures are done and got the Carrier + 10 ships :
Update of July the 18 : Optimisation to use 9 ships
With some (kind of complex :o ) calculation I have found the best compo for me and I share it here if you have the same objective as me. It does not permit to do all the mission (it seem to be impossible or I did not search enough) but the one I want :
All
Iron Fleet Treasure Chest
All blockade
All legendary (Elemental Rune)
2 sorcerous
Most of Apexis Crystal
and most of the more or equal to 5000 XP missions in case you have to build another ship after destruction
Missions about gold are not taken into consideration (but can be done probably sometime)
Destroyer Blast Furnace + Gyroscopic Stabilizer ---- /!\ Human/undead
Destroyer Trained Shark Tank + Felsmoke Launcher
Submarine Trained Shark Tank + True Iron Rudder --- /!\ Human/undead
Submarine Trained Shark Tank + Bilge Pump --------- /!\ Human/undead
Submarine Blast Furnace + Felsmoke Launcher-------- /!\ Human/undead (or Panda it's for the 18 hrs apexis "Storm Front")
Battleship Felsmoke Launcher + Blast Furnace
Battleship True Iron Rudder + Ice Cutter
Carrier Trained Shark Tank + True Iron Rudder --- /!\ Human/undead
Carrier Blast Furnace + True Iron Rudder
You'll need at least one Draenic crew (equal to High Intensity Fog Lights) on any ship to handle some interesting missions and it should be easy to get (not like the murloc crew who is very rare.. for me ;) )
You have to try to obtain the maximum of Human/Undead crew on each ship to increase the chance for missions not taken in consideration and it's especially important on ship marked with
/!\ Humain/undead
as those ship handle missions with more threat that they can carry (it permit to get 98%). Draenic crew (equal to High Intensity Fog Lights), Murloc Crew (equal to a Transport ship) or Pandaren crew (chance on >= 18 hrs mission) can be good but I found the rest useless.
For the 10th ship you can use what you want/need... Personally I don't need the transporter as I'm not interested in mission it handle (gold and little xp)... Even the derrick mission who need a land objective don't need one because it have a 100% chance of success basis (don't understand why..) So personally, finally, I use the unused ship to have the human carrier ship in double as a spare one in case a 98% chance of success mission fail and destroy it.

Is there a script to run or an addon that will tell you while out and about whether or not you have a specific blueprint? I know Masterplan shows it at the table if you mouse over a mission (or you could just check the vendor 10 ft away) but I would find it extremely useful on alts if I knew what ones I still need while in Tanaan.

Here's a way to check with a script what equipment blueprints has your character unlocked (a reply to
godzilla's comment
):
/run print("Bilge Bump: ",IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(38932))
/run print("Felsmoke Launchers: ",IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(39366))
/run print("Ghostly Spyglass: ",IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(39365))
/run print("Gyroscopic Internal Stabilizer: ",IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(39364))
/run print("High Intensity Fog Lights: ",IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(39356))
/run print("Ice Cutter: ",IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(39363))
/run print("Trained Shark Tank: ",IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(39355))
/run print("True Iron Rudder: ",IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(39360))
/run print("Tuskarr Fishing Net: ",IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(39359))
/run print("Unsinkable: ",IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(39358))
The code can be shortened a bit, but it still won't fit into a single macro without the use of some macro addon, like
Macro Toolkit
. I'm no macro expert so if someone can write that in more optimal way, please enlighten me. :)

Each Destroyer built has a
~5%
chance to be this ship.
It spawned on my 17th attempt on my first toon, and on my 7th attempt on an alt.
Certainly worth the effort to acquire a ship that can replace

Great guide ty.
As for me I just dont like the wow interface with picking missions. Every item needed for mission is green check marked meanwhile its using all of my ships and I can only pick 2 out of all of them.
They need to fix that its a waste of information.

It says in the guide,
"Ship equipment can be replaced without limitations"
. That's a little misleading, because it appears you can't equip a ship with two of the same counters.
I tried putting two "Cursed Crew" counters on a ship and it wouldn't let me to equip it with the second one. Nothing was happening.

Here is a quick setup I made (according to
this
guide), so you spend less resources on ships, and help even alts get thru their Legendary questline.
1 Transport
:
true iron
,
type*
1 Destroyer:
true iron,
Felsmoke
;
1 Destroyer:
true iron,
bilge pump
1 Submarine:
blast furnace,
Gyroscopic
1 Battleship:
blast furnace,
type*
;
1 Battleship:
felsmoke,
type*
1 Carrier
or The Awakener (
Destroyer
):
true iron, trained land shark
On
Type
(or epic) slots, make sure that the ship gets a 'racial' (any of the 6 extra equipment that may come when a ship upgrades). Or when you build one that gets rare/epic quality.
Backup
: 1
transport
, 1
submarine
, 1
carrier
(on these extra 3 ships, from a total of 10 maximum, you may put other equipment to help on other missions). Note that those kind of ships aren't mandatory, but I chose those only to equilibrate stuff.
You may spend less resources getting a more approaching setup by rebuilding ships than staying with some that get with, for example, non-beneficial crews (Like 100% gold earned). Those crews you may try to get them on the extra ships, if possible.
To speed up things, I recommend building both the trading post and the Lumber Mill, and the Spirit Lodge/Mage Tower at least on your main character.

Im not liking the shipyard as of yet. Im still in the starting phase and every ship mission needs to have epic ships. Even the training missions only ask for battleships.
They really need to spread out low level exp missions for people starting out. Why have every mission epic rated and need carriers when people arent even a quarter way near those two yet.
also had 3 96% missions in a row fail and lost 3 ships. Awesome.

this way you will only have 3/14 missions with 1k Gres. You will need 2 human ships to counter a captain. Don't skip bonus missions because they don't spawn often.
If possible try to get the oil rig quest( revered with hand of the prophet) then try to build 1nelf+1gome ships to scavenge for equipments and 400 oil 9hrs a mission thus you can get cheap equipements to do rare missions or cursed crew with moderate cost or at no cost.
So the spots #9#10 fits perfectly when you don't have much problems elswhere. For exemple: 2 weeks on farming parts then your good for 2 months of equipments at very low cost :).
=====================================================================
More tips & infos:
*Until Blizzard unlocks Fe
for some missions it will be really hard to get to 100% I recommand waiting for a patch on these as the achievement:
海军器械专家
is impossible to obtain. They might have forgotten to implement it in the game and we are stuck with incredible odds. That's why it's important to have fodder on some missions
30 missions 16% aren't covered by Sn but they are mostly low xp missions, some apexis or sorcerous rewards. You could try to cover them but the cost in Gress would be counter-productive.
If it's to risky or to hard? (30/188ms) don't bother to do them send a "Motley Crew" on it.
The worst is 70% on ships alone but at least you don't lose valuable ships and aren't stuck.
(I prefer to build 2 ships=50Gress/100 oil/1hr than to destroy a template for 1kGress )
IMO Shipyard missions :
1) Won't get you rich : avg 150g for 26hrs
2) No need for old 6.1 raid tokens( not acc-wide)
3) Cursed crew is messing it up badly so I won't debase myself for a rare chance at gold nor some 5% xp rings.
4) Balefull gear sucks, you can do better with pvp gear:(10) 670+(2) 700+(2)kazzak+2 balefull 695= 680 for normal.
Farm Tanaan for apexis you'll get some.
5) Iron fleet treasures missions are worth it but gear tend to get old very fast these days :)
6) The system will always push you to your limits so for 10 missions often you'll need to buy equipments or just pass until it's deleted.IMO it's alot of frustration for no real rewards considering all equipements you have to unlock and epic slots to get this running and the fear of losing a ship at 96% success mission.... Not very alt freindly : I don't see myslef running dailies to rep hands of the prophet and going after all unlockable equipments in Tanaan.

This is a really great guide for a really terrible addition to the game, imo. I hate the Shipyard.
I don't like spending 500 resources to change a ships equipment to match a mission only to have it destroyed with 88% (I refuse to send them with less than that) or higher success chance.
I am not a gambler by nature. It's stressful to me to HAVE to send ships on missions that can't get 100% success chance.
It's irritating to see my naval map filled with missions that are NOT 100% that ONLY reward xp when most of my ships are epic. You have to do some of them or wait out the expiry times of WEEKS to make it remove itself.
It's irritating to have to wait 1 hour for a new ship when it's destroyed. Some people can't log into wow for hours at a time so basically if you lose a couple ships, you're missing out on completing missions until the next time you play. Sure I can spend 500 resources to make it happen instantly but when you're spending 500 resources over and over again rebuilding ships and changing equipment they start going out faster than they come in.
The missions take too long to complete for the rewards they give. Two days for a baleful item for another class? LAME. Eighteen hours for 5000 apexis crystals? I can farm up that many in a few hours.
Running back and forth between my Town Hall and the Shipyard to set up each's missions is annoying. At level 3 you do get a command table in your Town Hall for the shipyard but that takes weeks to accomplish. Also, you have to run down there anyway if one of your ships was destroyed or you need to buy new equipment which is almost EVERY time which makes the command table in the Town Hall fairly pointless.
For me personally this is one more let down in WoD. The only thing holding me to WoW these days is loyalty. It's been a really great game to me for a lot of years and I'm not ready to let it go. I am getting more and more bored and frustrated however. Come on Blizzard, get it together!

@Tritox: Over at the Oil Rig mission page, players have been reporting that they are getting equipment when sending ships out to do this oil-harvesting mission. The duration is now 18 hours, meaning that you can cut it down to 9 hrs with 1 elf crew, and still have a chance to retrieve equipment with 1 troll/gnome crew. I do not know if 2 troll/gnome crews stack. 1 additional way of getting equipment is always welcome.

I have a question about Area Buffs, and this seems like the best place to ask it...
When -exactly- are they in play? Are they only active for the period of time the glowing ring is up? Or if a mission starts within the glowing ring? Or if a mission ends within the glowing ring? I'm a little fuzzy on the exact mechanics of them and when they start/stop...
Basically my situation is thus...
I have a legendary quest with expert captain.
I have an area buff quest that (happily) falls exactly on top of the legendary quest.
The buff quest is 4 hours + 24 hour buff duration
The legendary is 48 hours
I'm not sure when I need to start and end each quest to apply the buff to the legendary.
If I start the buff now, then 4 hours from now (after the buff ring is up) start the legendary within it, will the legendary still have the buff power when it ends? (Since the buff will be gone in 24 hours and the legendary will end in 48?) or will the buff still stay applied to the legendary so long as I started it within the active ring?
Or do I need to start the legendary now, burn off a day, and then apply the buff ~24ish hours from now, so that the legendary ends while the ring is still up?
If anyone could provide some clarity, I'd be most appreciative.

Ok love WH and this is a great Guide. My question is this:
IS there any reason to do an xp mission after all of your ships are epic. (other than a blockade to get to a mission).
I.E. does it give me better missions at a quicker rate if I do the useless ones or am I better to just wait it out?
评论来自
yzq85
Note that for blockades, all Zangar Sea ones are meant for Alliance players only, while all Evanescent Sea ones are Horde-only. Also, the starting quadrant for each faction only has training missions, thus encouraging you to breach the blockades which may be in-place in the other 3 quadrants. If you see non-training missions for your starting quadrant (most likely while browsing the Wowhead database), chances are that they are for the other faction.

But......I do have a question for you..... I seem to have had a glitch on my main toon, and my Dawnchaser that got destroyed in the first mission somehow got decommissioned, and obviously I cannot add the blast furnace to it, nor can I advance any further in the quest line/mission line for the shipyard because all of my other ships are greens and none of them are rare status. So now wth do I do? Is there a way for me to obtain the blueprint for it again? Or am I SOL? I have tried to submit an in game ticket, but it seems impossible to do now, not like in the older days of Wow, so I figured I may get an answer faster here.
thanks in advance for any and all advice :)

Edit: After the recent buffs to crews, it's looking like humans are generally a better bet than pandas in order to easily 100% missions. Panda crews are still useful for the last legendary mission, but other than that are probably not worth it on anything aside from a carrier, since a lot of carrier missions are 12h+.
This mission
in particular is
still
not 100% even with a panda/murloc combo - however, it would still be above 90% even with a human/undead ship, meaning that if you failed you wouldn't lose your ships either way.
This means that an ideal ship list would look more like this instead now:
Destroyer
Blast Furnace + Gyroscopic Stabilizer ---- /!\ Human/Undead
Destroyer
Trained Shark Tank + Felsmoke Launcher ---- /*\ Human/Undead
Destroyer
Felsmoke Launcher + True Iron Rudder ---- /*\
Murloc
Submarine
Trained Shark Tank + True Iron Rudder --- /!\ Human/Undead
Submarine
Trained Shark Tank + Bilge Pump ---------- /!\ Human/Undead
Submarine
Blast Furnace + Felsmoke Launcher-------- /*\ Human/Undead
Battleship
Felsmoke Launcher + Blast Furnace /*\ Human/Undead
Battleship
High Intensity Fog Lights + Ice Cutter --- /*\ Human/Undead
Carrier
Trained Shark Tank + True Iron Rudder --- /!\ Human/Undead
Carrier
Blast Furnace + True Iron Rudder --- /*\
Panda
Having two human ships of every type means you can counter any 7-threat mission, even the ones that require two of the same ship. The murloc destroyer is not necessary to 100% the rare gold missions anymore, but it does still reduce the number of ghostly spyglasses you have to equip for them.
Edit: I tried running this setup on one of my toons with two undead carriers, and ran into a few missions that were just below 90%. I would recommend trying for a panda carrier if you have the patience.
Edit 2: Had the murloc destroyer swapped with the second human destroyer. Fixed.
Previous post:
I've been running a Level 3 Shipyard setup of my own based off of
fasafr's amazing shiplist
. It's got a few races slotted into their empty spots (marked by *) that allow me the option to 100% several of the gold-based missions, as well as have the option to 100% the rings, black market, riverbeast etc missions with the appropriate panda ships should they ever show up. Garrison resources are easy enough to come by that I don't mind swapping a couple of equipment slots out for a rare mission.
Basically, you end up needing one panda ship of each type, plus the murloc destroyer (unless you're super lucky, I'd leave that one for last). I am currently running this setup on several of my toons, and wanted to make a permanent list for the rest of them so I don't keep having to look at their list and trying to remember what changes I'd made to it - and so I figured I'd share. :)
Destroyer
Blast Furnace + Gyroscopic Stabilizer ---- /!\ Human/Undead
Destroyer
Trained Shark Tank + Felsmoke Launcher ---- /*\ Murloc
Destroyer
Felsmoke Launcher + True Iron Rudder ---- /*\ Panda
Submarine
Trained Shark Tank + True Iron Rudder --- /!\ Human/Undead
Submarine
Trained Shark Tank + Bilge Pump ---------- /!\ Human/Undead
Submarine
Blast Furnace + Felsmoke Launcher-------- /*\ Panda
Battleship
Felsmoke Launcher + Blast Furnace /*\ Panda
-
Battleship
True Iron Rudder + Ice Cutter --- /*\ Draenei
-
Battleship
True Iron Rudder + High Intensity Fog Lights --- /*\ Orc
Carrier
Trained Shark Tank + True Iron Rudder --- /!\ Human/Undead
Carrier
Blast Furnace + True Iron Rudder --- /*\ Panda
I did run the arrakoa crew on my two toons that did the legendary ring quest, but there wasn't any significant advantage other than that, and I am considering replacing them with panda destroyers.

* Fixed an incorrect data input in

that simulated the mission with higher chances than actual.
* Fixed Pandaren bonus calculation, seems to give higher bonus than the patch notes says.
Q & A :
Q:
What's the purpose of this setup ?
A:
Having the ability to clear ALL the missions on the board, without loosing a single ship.
Q:
How did you arrive to that setup ?
A:
Small code I wrote, that simulates various fleets against known missions. It does 100k random fleets per hour and keeps looking for a better one. After about a million fleets, I took the best one it found, and further optimized it via another code.
Q:
Which Cache missions does it take into account ?
A:
All Cache types has the same chances with this setup.
Q:
Is this the best setup one can get ?
A:
Most probably not, the amount of combinations available are around 15 digits long, I cannot/would not compute this on my poor modern home PC. but it's definitely "good enough".
Q:
Why isn't there any Dwarven crews to maximize gold returns ?
A:
This wasn't the purpose I began with, I might calculate such a fleet in the future, but i'm not sure I would share it since it would cause an immediate nerf, like the one happened to the follower missions. You can still rely on this as a base to start from, and replace a few ships with Dwarven crews.
Q:
I don't see "The Awakener" there, WTF ?
A:
IKR, I didn't believe it too at first, but apparently another Human/Panda ship is better. Tried argue with the code I wrote, but I didn't found a bug (yet).
Q:
I see "Human" crews, Is this Alliance only ?
A:
Fleet was optimized for Alliance missions for simplicity, but I did test it on Horde missions and it works about the same there, just replace the Alliance crews with the Horde crews (i.e Human -> Undead)

With some new hotfixes to shipyards in 6.2.3., the one update which bears repeating is that you will no longer lose ships once success chance is 90% and above. If you've never been a gambler before when it comes to shipyard missions, do consider hopping in. This feature also save you some GRs, particularly with the increased effectiveness of human/undead/panda crew buffs.

I just want to mention, as far as upgrading with 'Upgrading the Fleet' while it originally counts previous missions, if you abandon the quest and re pick it up, it will no longer count previous progress, and when I opened a ticket about this I was told that actually, it counting the previous missions in the first place is the bug, so don't rely on that too much.
From my ticket response
Thank you for contacting us! I'm stoked I get the opportunity to help you out today [: Your patience as I looked over this is greatly appreciated.
I'm really sorry about the inconvenience here. This quest tracking previous credit was a bug, and wasn't supposed to happen in the first place :c I understand it's lame that the progress has reset, but since you abandoned the quest, the progress has to be regained.

Legion is going to launch in three weeks from now and most players have already docked all their ships. I've done an update to this guide which wraps up the patch 7.0.3 changes which basically were a nerf to gold income from the Naval Missions. This was the
final update
for the guide unless something really drastic happens in the future Shipyard-wise.
But once again, thanks for all your support and see you in the Broken Isles! If you liked this guide, be sure to check out my

Patch 7.2 has introduced a bug that prevents players from decommissioning ships. Here is my exchange with Blizzard Customer Support this week:
I have a level 2 shipyard, which means I can have 8 ships. Indeed I have 8 ships, but want to decommission one to build a battleship, I just learned its plans.
When I try to decommission any of my ships, the "Decommission" option is greyed out and inaccessible. And the tooltip tells me "You cannot decommission a ship until you have the maximum number of ships." Indeed, at the top of Fleet Command Table, I am told "Fleet: 8/25."
And when I ask the shipwright to build me a battleship, he tells me "You already have the maximum number of ships your shipyard can support."
I reset my UI according to
Blizzard's instructions,
it did not help
I can't upgrade my fleet. Help!
*******************
I am sorry that you have this issue with the shipyard. It is an issue that cropped up with 7.2 and has been reported to the developers to be fixed.
Sadly really the only thing you can do is hope that one of your current ships get sunk, so you free up a slot. At least until the developers fix the bug.
But please do keep in mind that since this is WoD content, it might take longer than if it was an issue with Legion, since WoD isn't current content, so please don't expect it to be fixed within a few days :(
Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Blockade missions appear to be bugged at the moment ... or perhaps it's "working as intended". It used to be the case that you could do a blockade mission and then do one other mission before the blockade started again. Now when I finish one blockade mission, there is immediately another blockade mission, so no other naval missions can be performed.

Might want to add a note to your "upgrade" part that you will need to reload your interface for the Fleet page to show the next set of maximim ships in your Shipyard. While completing the quests unlock the 8/8 and 10/10 capacity, the game needs to be updated manually by a reload for these to show.

I know about not losing a ship if success chance is >90%, but this mission had a success of only 85% and it said that the mission failed and the ship was destroyed. However, it's still listed as one of the 10 ships, and I can still use it in subsequent missions. Is this a further nerf?

This post is for anyone building a shipyard in SL and is getting lost in all fleet and/or gold optimizing. In SL and beyond the use for the shipyard is severely limited, as it no longer grants gold similar to the garrison itself. I've been part of the group of players that wanted to optimize the fleet one way or another to complete as many missions as possible. On MMO-Champion,
user Nir created the optimal fleet purely for completion
of which the fire-and-forget fleet was shared here as well. Every mission is 90%>, meaning ships never get destroyed and the average completion is 98%. Striking in this list is that it doesn't contain
觉醒者号
, nor
鱼人印记II号
although the latter's never been as useful. Whether you want to go for this is up to you, but once you have it, you can fire-and-forget your shipyard.

Today I found out that the Shipyard has been bugged since BFA.
Previously, any failed encounter would result with ships being destroyed, unless they had at least a 90% chance of success. At 90%+ I guess they ships just turn tail and run home or whatever? Or limp their way back damaged? I dunno. Well, since all my ships are elites and ones I like, and never wanted to have to go through the tedium of training new ones, I always made sure that missions were sent with this percentage at a minimum.
As a blacksmith, My Belf DK regularly returns to the Garrison to grab the "I don't take no durability loss lol" buff from my resident Belf Blacksmith,
Nadia Darksun
so I occassional send ship missions for lolz. One such mission just failed on a 90%, but rather than the "failed" pop-up, I got a "destroyed" message instead, and my poor hard earned ships
Brgglglglglglg Mk II
and
The Awakener
sank into the seas in a sad animation. Additionally the dialogue box popped up with "you lose X ship lol" (or words to that effect) which shocked me since this had never happened before, and should not of happened in any case given the 90% + fail safe.
Dejected, I tentatively checked my fleet status...only to find my ships quite healthy, and in a state of readiness to try again.
Curious, I checked online for comments regarding this, and found that others had experienced the same issue, even with lower succes chances. So yeah, the shipyard is bugged to the point where the fleet mission table no longer removes ships that are "destroyed" in failed missions. I can only assume that an additional factor of this bug means the "destroyed" mechanic will play for all failed missions, regardless of the success chance, such as I experienced with the 90% fail.
I'm sure this will come of great news to many people who were annoyed at having to commission fresh vessels every time they lost one, and in all fairness I never understood the whole "you lose your ship lol" deal in any case. It is rare that tall ships were every completely lost in battle, as battles were fought to capture, not destroy and more often than not wounded ships would limp home for refurbishment.
A mechanic designed around repairing damaged ships using up the copious amounts of Garrison Resouces one generated would have been a fine enough system, without having to remove a player's hard earned favourites.

It appears Blizzard has decided to make this quest far too frustrating to complete. I recently ran tw0 missions, with 4 ships at a 92% success chance. Both missions failed and all 4 ships were lost. If I need a 100% success chance to complete a mission, this is just terrible quest design.
Not worth the time nor the resources. So much for doing older content.
