Introduction
These are the first set of Legendaries ever designed for a specific class. Not only that, but they are the first legendary with a proactive proc, and where the stages before the final form also have a proc. Blizzard has broken the mold with these Legendaries and they massively open up the possibilities for what could be in store for future expansions. They're exciting not just for Rogues, but for anyone to think about what could be in store for them in the future.
This guide will be a formal write up, an extension to the
collection
of data mining and testing from the PTR.
If you're scared of spoilers, hate tutorials, or just don't like this font, leave now or forever hold your peace.
Quick Answers
Can I collect quest items through LFR?
- No.
Do I need to do anything before I can start the quest chain?
- Just be able to zone into the Dragon Soul raid instance. Having access to more than 10k gold would probably be a good idea too.
Can I do the solo parts in a group with another rogue?
- Yes! Know that it can make the solo quests
more
difficult if there's no coordination.
Can I work on Cluster Clutch while another rogue in my guild is working on Sharpening Your Fangs?
- Yes.
However
, both rogues will progress through the chain at a slower rate since both quests need the gem clusters.
This Isn't Flying...
It's falling with
style
!
It's hard to give this little feature it's own section, as it's not the biggest thing, but the daggers have an on-use slow fall that triggers the cosmetic wing effect. While not the most interesting or useful mechanic to add to the daggers, they will let you feel cool jumping off the Auction House roof every once in awhile. You must first equip the daggers to use the slow fall, and can only cast the slow fall once every 5 minutes.
The 3 Stages
The legendary stage of the daggers is best viewed with the model viewer (try both the flash and java version). You can access it by clicking on the image for it. One thing that the model viewers lack, however, is that the yellow/orange border fades in and out.

A Challenger Appears! - The Story Of Wrathion.
So what's the deal with Wrathion? Who is he? And why does he have access to what I so desperately desire?
If you did the Badlands quests, you probably came across a specific dragon named Rheastrasza, or Rhea for short. Rhea had a bold plan to steal a Black Dragonflight egg, and purify the egg of Deathwing's corruption. You worked with Rhea and had limited
success
. Despite losing Rhea, you did free the egg.
As it turns out, the Red Dragonflight has kept the egg hidden ever since it was purified... or, it was hidden until it recently went missing. This loss has pushed the red dragonflight to reach out to the nimble and reticent individuals who can help them recover and secure the egg from a reclusive group of individuals. The plot thickens as you discover the egg has hatched. Wrathion, Prince of the Black Dragonflight, and the uncorrupted offspring of Deathwing, resides at Ravenholdt Manor plotting vengeance against the corrupted Black Dragonflight members. This is where you come in, Wrathion will make sure that it's in both of your interests that you help purge the Black Dragonflight.
The quest chain picks up where the Red Dragonflight reaches out to you.

This is the very first quest in the chain, in order to start it you need to talk to Lord Afrasastrasz who is standing inside the Dragon Soul raid next to the entrance at the start of the raid lockout. However once you kill Morchok, he moves into the temple. Hagara is the fourth boss, and resides in the Eye of Eternity. You won't be able to get to Hagara without being in a raid that has the first 3 bosses, and only the first 3 bosses, down.
Pick pocketing
缚风者哈格拉
is a little more than walking up and asking her for the ring. To describe this, I should describe the trash gauntlet leading up to Hagara. Before Hagara descends upon your raid, she summons one or two portals that a group of trash will come out from, she does this several times until she drops from her platform to the center of the area and will probably start attacking the closest person, since people tend to stand to close the first time. You should work to DPS down the NPCs that spawn until Hagara is ready. If someone face pulls, pop vanish and grab some goodies, otherwise you can still easily enter stealth and walk up for the pick pocket. Grats! You're done with your first step of the quest line.

Purchase a Decoder Ring Charging
Solve the Cipher from Corastrasza
Upon returning to Lord Afrasastrasz, he will inform you of why you needed to pick pocket Hagara, and points you toward the Ethereals in Stormwind/Orgrimmar to get it charged quickly and discretely. This is clearly an individual who has never done shady business before. No way. Never.
Upon arriving at the Ethereals, you should find
魔术师瓦拉法尔
/
魔术师瓦奥尔萨
standing off to the side. They will have a couple of dialogs for you, and ultimately request 10k gold to start charging the ring over the next 12 hours. Should you decide that you would rather kill them while they sleep instead, they will pleasantly let you know that they no longer sleep, and refuse to charge your ring (until you pay up that is).
The next step in this quest is to fly to
科拉丝塔萨
in Vermillion Redoubt, and get the cipher from her. You won't be able to decipher it until your ring has fully charged. You do not need to be logged in for the 12 hours so take your time, log out and get some fresh air, do some dailies, drink your ovaltine, get some sleep. After the 12 hours is up, you can decipher and turn in the quest to Corastrasza.

Find the missing egg
This is where things get tense. Ravenholdt Manor is no longer the Ravenholdt Manor you may remember. There are now dozens and dozens of highly alert level 85s who are hellbent on making sure no one gets inside the Manor. You will have to make heavy use of Sap and Distract (and hopefully not need Vanish), to get inside.
Upon starting the quest, you should first enter stealth. You will see a red circle appear underneath you, this circle represents your safe stealth range, since the range at which NPCs can see you is now bigger than normal. As an NPC gets closer to the edge of the red circle, they will turn and face you like an NPC would normally look towards you if you got too close. At this point you should realize that your Sap range is just beyond your red circle's radius. You should note that you can also Distract a target, allowing you to sneak past them while they are inside your danger zone. Be aware that Distract is not a free pass, and getting to close, or staying around for too long, will tip the NPC off to your presence.
You first start by going counter-clockwise
around the area
, by either stealthing up to the building and turning right, or staying along the edge of the surrounding hills. Once at the back outside of the manor, you will find rope
on the ground
, use it to scale up on top of the roof. You should now see a box stuck in the wall, use this to enter Ravenholdt Manor. You will find yourself standing at the top of the spire, stealth down the stairs to the second floor overlooking the table, you should see
Fahrad pacing
to your left. Look underneath you for patting NPCs to make sure none of them will be in your personal bubble when you drop down, once you're sure the area is clear, drop down and quickly run under the stairs and into the basement. If you enter combat make sure you vanish immediately and hurry down the stairs, there is still hope for you.
Should you succeed, you will be rewarded with a brief cut scene, and Wrathion will be ready for quest turn in after walking back upstairs to the table near Fahrad.
If you're feeling particularly masochistic, you can try and run through the front door with a
Sap
, a
Distract
, then immediately cast Sprint and Vanish (preferably with the glyphs) the moment a guard notices you (they most likely will). Mostrasz will pull you out in a couple seconds if a guard hits you, but if you're out of combat and make it into the basement to trigger the cut scene then the teleport script won't execute and you will successfully complete the quest. The odds of you completing the quest through the front door are noticeably worse than entering using the rope, but you are certainly welcome to try!

Find and kill Creed
Being a mage, Zazzo is slightly incapable of stealthing all the way to Creed to help you. Despite being able to forcefully pull you out of the city, he apparently lacks the ability to be of any real help what so ever. But that's okay, because there are easy ways to get to, and kill, Creed.
Video of
path 1C and 2B
, another of
1B and 2B
. The picture is not entirely to scale.
This quest is similar to
以其人之道
, but takes significantly more effort to get through the stealth part. There are quite a few paths, but only a few decent ones. For unknown reasons, you will lose stealth in many sections of Gilneas City without notice, warning or information about why, therefore I recommend you try to follow one of these paths. I prefer path 1B (pink) and path 2B (dark green). Path 1C is quicker and easier than 1B, but only once you get a handle on being pulled out of stealth. Also of value, is the
被烧毁的雕文
which will make Vanish a little more useful in getting between certain groups.
Path 1A (Blue) - A little long, but it has an alcove to back into if you feel cornered, this will let you reset and re-analyze your environment. Take it one mob at a time, and save Distract for the
group of three
that walks back and forth near the set of awnings, wait until they're at the north side of the pat to do it. Move past, then sap the guy under the wood structure (past the guy sleeping). Get close to him, and wait for a pat to move in front of you, then back to the other side of the clearing.
If you feel cornered, try and back up into the open room near the sleeping guy. Otherwise, Move past the guy you sapped and follow the pat to the first dummy and take a right,
stealth along
the dummies to the end (blue dots are sap targets, blue lines are pat paths you want to avoid being in the way of), sap the loner on your left and proceed back east (to your left). Hug the tree ahead of you, and walk around the group to your right, to the stairs down. Be aware that the NPC walking above you on your right will lunge somewhat erratically, try to avoid him. Continue down the stairs, avoiding the 2 pats there, and jump into the stream to your right. Pause a moment for any cooldowns.
Path 1B (Pink) - Shorter than the blue one, but a specific dog can give you issues, specifically the
one on your left
as you sneak past the second building. The dog is much faster than you, and runs around the entire area you see in the picture, keep an eye out for him. The mobs are fairly straight forward, and when in doubt you should be able to take your time so long as you keep nearby pats sapped.
Path 1C (Salmon) - This is the only reasonable path that involves
the river
. You will have your stealth removed as you leave the water, and shortly after getting onto the stairs to your left, be prepared. This is a very quick path, but a high rate of failure. If you're Sub spec, you can skip the first sap by using Shadowstep on the guard walking on the stairs to your left (facing the NPC) and quickly sapping, this trivializes the hardest part of the path. Otherwise, you need to distract the far left sniper on the docks, with the pat on the far right of their area. Sap the sniper before Stealth falls off, and wait on the docks out of facepull range of the pat. Re-enter stealth and wait at the bottom of the stairs to your left for that pat to come down, Sap them and move up stairs quickly and prepare to Vanish if stealth falls off a second time. Stand towards the top of the stairs in stealth, make sure you can fit between the two groups at the top and move forward, you want to jump down onto the bridge and into the stream to the west of it (your right) quickly without aggroing anything.
Wait for Vanish to come off CD for this part if you used it. If you aggro something on the last few steps without Vanish up, don't panic, just sprint into Creed's area as fast as you can. You will most likely lose
扎佐之眼
and be ported out by Zazzo, but you should immediately mount up on a flying mount and fly to the entrance of where Creed is if the debuff is gone. Dismount and enter stealth high above the ground (without dying from fall damage ideally, you aren't screwed if you die, don't worry) to skip the stealth portion. If you delay,
扎佐之眼
will be reapplied eventually. This may be hotfixed in the future to behave differently.
Path 2A (Light Green) - Slowly follow the pat, watch your left for a hidden guard. Look ahead to the stairs up on the other side and look for another pat, make sure they aren't walking to a group you have to walk past (on your right). Distract that far group away from you, Sprint forwards and Vanish. Target the right most guard standing on the stairs and sap them as you run up. Vanish should be wearing off right about then. Skip to the End Path section from here.
Path 2B (Dark Green) - Highly similar to the light green path, but the group you need to Distract should include the group of 4 to your left, and the 3 standing by the door. After the Distract has landed, Sprint, Sap the far right guard on the steps. If you're having issues squeezing between the two groups and staying near the tree, try Vanish. Read the End Path part below to finish this off.
End Path - Move forwards a little and collect yourself, there are still pats nearby. When the coast is clear, walk clockwise around the group of guards in front of you, Sap/Distract whichever guard in front of you after that and move forwards past them. On your right you will see a clearing with Creed. Walk into it and Zazzo will stop protecting you. If you die to Creed, you don't have to stealth through all the guards again, just go through the walk of shame.
Creed has 1,859,760 health, and has two phases. For various reasons, Combat handles the various mechanics the best. He is susceptible to all forms of CC: incapacitates, disarms, snares, interrupts, etc with the exception of kicking Consuming Darkness. If you see another rogue working on the quest, know that you do not need to be in a group with them to qualify for credit, you don't even need to be on the same faction to get credit for the kill. To get a feeling for what the fight looks like, here is
an example
from a Sub rogue PoV.
Phase 1 lasts until 75% health:
-
黑暗噬体
- Spawns a short range AOE underneath the player. Should be moved out of as soon as the cast starts to reduce damage taken. Can not be kicked, but Creed can still be stunned and incapacitated while this is being cast.
-
黑嚎之愿
- A strong ranged attack that eliminates your energy. This cast should be interrupted by any means. I save Cloak for this if he casts it while I'm still kiting and can't get back.
-
黑嚎之怒
- Cast whenever you use smoke bomb at range. I recommend you don't use Smoke Bomb at any point in the fight. (
Source
)
In phase 2, he adds another spell to his repertoire:
-
暗影吐息
>
暗影吐息
- This is a negligible ability, and only requires the player to move behind Creed. Creed will not turn while channelling the second part of the cast, which allows the player to take no damage if they move, and allows the player to deal some easy damage too. Do not waste a stun or interrupt on this cast, just move. Don't use Killing Spree or Shadowstep while this is being channeled, you will probably take AOE damage.
Throughout the encounter Creed will cast Consuming Darkness which spawns an AOE under you, while peppering a few
黑嚎之愿
and
暗影吐息
in. It's important to move him out of the void zones, and fight outside them. Make heavy use of
凿击
and
肾击
and Creed will be locked down too much to out-DPS your Recuperate. If you're confident that the enrage won't be an issue, wait out your blind for the sake of your cooldowns despite not gaining health. While he is pretty easy, he can still catch people off guard. Save most of your CDs for P2, I recommend starting phase 2 with
, and leaving
闪避
for the last 20%.
There are several utility glyphs that you would typically skip in PvE that can be of use here, make note of
被烧毁的雕文
,
被烧毁的雕文
,
被烧毁的雕文
. There are also several utility talents that are fairly strong during this. If you find yourself running into issues, try grabbing talents like
飘忽不定
,
,
or
if you don't have them already, however don't feel limited to just these if you find yourself having issues. If you find yourself running into issues with diminishing returns,
back off
. Gouge and Kidney Shot should be used often, but on CD is just too often.
It's important to note what this fight involves, while you will try and CC Creed as much as possible, there are some issues that arise simply because you're fighting an AI unit 1v1. For example, you lose a significant chunk of time to be behind the target for
to kick in, you also lose the ability to
背刺
and
伏击
for most of the fight as Sub. Creed can be killed by any spec, but this fight does appear to favor Combat for various reasons, and Combat is definitely recommended.

Find and kill Nalice
This quest follows the same basic structure as
刺杀信条
. You will have to stealth to a specific member of the Black Dragonflight, kill them, and let Zazzo sit back looking pretty.
Video of
reaching Nalice
.
Before going down into the cellar, you first must get to the stairs. The easiest way is to run counter-clockwise the long way around everything. It's an easy run. You should know that there are two different, mutually exclusive sections to the Master's Cellar. By running the long and easy route, you will encounter the wrong stairs first. You want the eastern set of stairs that are across the road (note that the picture above shows South on the top). You will need a Distract to get into the basement, and should slowly go down the hall sapping as you go. Your goal is to get into the recession in the middle of the floor that has a single dragonkin patting inside it. Get inside and keep that Dragonkin sapped while you're in there.
Take a look to the south (most likely towards your right). There should be a support beam that has fallen over and two dragonkins that stand a bit in front of it. Look for a pat that circles a group of mobs in front of you, and one behind that group that walks from one side of the room to the other. Wait until both moving mobs are on your far right,
Distract them
and quickly move between the two groups and sap the left Dragonkin, you then need to progress slowly down the hall.
You will first see a patrol moving left and right, sap them on the left side of their patrol and slowly approach the arcane device in front of you. You will need to get very close to NPCs around it, so edge in slowly. Right click on the device to
sabotage it
, if you get lucky with your timing, you can destroy one (or both) of the elemental creatures on the right side of the hall. Distract the white elementals towards the fallen pillar, and quickly approach the next one. Repeat this to destroy the next group of NPCs, and back up so the elemental doesn't ambush you. Once destroyed, you can either Vanish/Sprint through the last group on the right, or Sap and move between the groups.
Video of
killing Nalice
, Combat perspective. Another as
Combat
, courtesy of Kimera Gaming.
Nalice is a 3 phase fight, has roughly 3.1 million health, and is handled the easiest as Combat. First phase is mostly simple CC and DPS, it plays somewhat similar to Creed, and she is susceptible to essentially all forms of CC again. Phase 2 involves a quick sprint across the room or you die. Phase 3 is just Phase 1 with a new spell, and starts right after you disrupt Arcane Destruction a second time. Nalice enters phase 2 every 33%, which means you go from P1 > P2 > P1 > P2 > P3.
Phase 1:
-
奥能灌注护甲
- Greatly reduces damage taken. Just use Expose Armor, with whatever CP's you have, to remove the buff. This spell will remove any pre-existing Expose Armor debuffs.
-
奥能灌注武器
- Deals additional arcane damage with each white swing. Use Kidney Shot as the cast ends, or at least Dismantle if
肾击
is still on CD.
-
奥术飞弹
- Can be cloaked or interrupted.
-
激怒
- Increases the damage dealt by Nalice, should be
毒刃
ed off.
-
满足
- Increases the damage Nalice takes. Triggered whenever you shiv off the enrage.
Phase 2:
-
奥术护盾
- Cast as soon as P2 begins, drops off when P2 ends. Prevents any/all damage taken. This spell can be cast while Nalice is stunned, don't waste CPs and energy on a stun right before 66, and 33%.
-
奥术能量
- You gain one stack of this each time you disrupt an arcane device in phase 2. The buff lasts 30 seconds.
-
奥术毁灭
- Cast during P2, at the end of the cast it deals deadly AOE damage if not interrupted by right clicking both channeling devices.
Phase 3 (In addition to the P1 spells):
-
炽烈暗影
- Leaves a shadow damage area underneath you every second for several seconds. Run out of it and try to leave the shadow zones in an organized fashion, Nalice will follow you but not take any damage from it.
P1 is, again, fairly similar to Creed and favors Combat spec. Just DPS down Nalice, while trying to mitigate as much damage as possible. I found saving Kidney Shot for
奥能灌注武器
was extremely helpful. All her buffs from casts are applied at the start of the cast, so stopping any casts other than
奥术飞弹
(which can be kicked) is pointless on this fight. Gouge can be used fairly liberally, just don't overdo it with diminishing returns.
P2 however is different. At the start of P2 you will be teleported to one side of the room, on the opposite side of the room will be two arcane devices being channeled into by Nalice. You
need
to immediately Sprint to them, as you have 20 seconds or you die. Keep up Recuperate, and right click on the devices to disrupt them. With each device you disrupt, you gain
奥术能量
for 30 seconds that increases energy generation by 50% per stack. This becomes a little harder when you notice there are spots on the ground in a pattern that will deal AOE arcane damage to you if you stand over them. Try to avoid these, but getting to the devices is far more important. You should have ample time to run straight in the direction of the device, and then diagonally to prevent one from exploding on you.
Phase 3 goes back to the same tactics as Phase 1. Whenever you get Blazing Shadows, just move out of the area. Try to keep it organized, spreading the shadows everywhere makes it harder in the long run since they stay on the ground for awhile. All the shadow zones will despawn when you kill Nalice, however the the debuff from
炽烈暗影
will remain if you kill Nalice with it on you. Make sure you avoid standing near Nalice until it expires, then go and loot once it drops off. This seems like a bug, and could be changed to behave differently in the future.

You should be able to complete this on normal or heroic difficulty. Should you succeed, you will be rewarded with the
final stage

Handling the Proc
The impact of the proc is pretty minor on the rotation. For Combat and Sub, it is viable to let Slice and Dice, or Recuperate (when Sub) drop for a brief period to spam Eviscerate if there's a damage modifier on you or your target, however the buff is 6 seconds long and leaving your auras down for that long is most likely a DPS loss. In fact, any more than a second or two of downtime in either buff will turn this into a DPS loss. Mutilate should not let Rupture drop, and should clip the Envenom buff while the proc is active.
The DPS increase in those situations is minor, therefore, it is completely viable to keep up your relevant buffs through the duration of the proc or let them drop momentarily.
For Combat, there's a good chance you
影舞步
will be down before
灭世者之怒
ends. You must resist the urge to use it, and continue to cast Eviscerate/Slice and Dice until the buff ends instead. With
冲动
off the GCD, you should always immediately cast it so long as you can get a use out of the cast.
For Sub, you will occassionally find yourself proc'ing
灭世者之怒
during

洞悉弱点
active on the target before spamming finishers, and end the Shadow Dance with an
伏击
to get the full value of Find Weakness from Shadow Dance.

If you have any media (images, videos, etc), thoughts, criticisms that you feel you might be worth adding, feel free to send it to me however you want and I'll see if I can fit it in.

Holy crap.
10k and abit of fun, and you have your stage one epic already.
Makes a mockery of Dragonwrath especially given guilds that still find Raggy hit or miss are walking over Deathwing on day one.

Awesome guide, thanks for the taking the time to put this together.
For the stealth game to Creed - if you want to try the river route, the best way to do it seems to be to ignore the docks entirely.
I made a sub spec just for the stealth game, and switched to my Combat spec to fight Creed. Creed won't care if you're in the corner of his little room switching specs, swapping gear, or making faces at him, so feel free to prepare before the fight. With sub, you can skip the docks and instasap the pat on the stairs, and not drop stealth:
Swim over to the base of the stairs, next to it about maybe 1/4 up. Stay in the water.
Target the guard that paths up and down the stairs. Stay out of range of the sniper / pat on the docks themselves.
When the stair pat is about 3/4 down, or as soon as he's in range, Shadowstep to him. Sap immediately.
You will teleport out of the water and get the sap off, and I never destealthed doing this. More, since you got him facing down, he will finish the pat downstairs before coming back up. You can always resap, but if you're already moving ahead it keeps him away from the top a little bit longer.

Great Guide, thanks!
Also worth teaming up with other Rogues in the area when going to Kill Creed, I'm sure there'll be a few of them about for a while still :)
Now to collect all those Shadowy Gems...

I just spoke to a GM in game after reporting what I thought was a nasty bug with Vanish when used during the sneaky-bit-before-Creed. I was informed that Vanish is not an ability that we should be using in that part of the quest. Of course, reasons could not be given, because this is a legendary quest and they are not allowed to give away any clues.
I did not ask, but I suspect that Vanish is allowed during the Creed fight itself, if for some reason you need to reset him.
Also, for the bit about sneaking into Ravenholdt Manor for the very first time ... you do not have to exit the mouth of the cave, as many people would expect. There is another way to get to the end objective that skips a load of guards. I initially reported this as an exploit, but was advised by the same GM that it is not, and that it is an intended alternate (presumably for truly crafty and creative players).

For Assassinate Creed, with a sub spec, it's possible to simply ride south to the other bridge, and distract/shadowstep across the entire army of mobs guarding it. Another shadowstep/sap to one of the patrolling mobs and you're there. Granted, its harder to pull off, but its by far the fastest route.
There was a video of it somewhere, I'll link if I find it.

By the way about the ending cutscene of Patricide, have you seen it? Any link/info for those of us who don't mind being spoiled?

Killing Creed is approximately 5 million times easier in Combat than Assassination. Roughly.

Summarizing total cost by gold, time consumption and access requirements:
Stage 1 daggers
1) Pick pocketing Hagara (3rd) boss (in a normal or heroic mode)
2) 10k gold
done.
Stage 2 daggers
3) Getting 333 gems ( at least 7 weeks of 100% attendance raiding in a 10 man mode
or 4 weeks of 100% raiding attendance rainding in 25 mode, if you get loot from all 8 bosses each week)
done.
Legendary daggers (final stage)
4) Getting 60 clusters ( at least 7.5 weeks of raiding 10 ppl or 4 weeks in 25 ppl, if you get loot from all 8 bosses each week)
5) Getting Fragment of Deathwing's Jaw (loot quest item from 8th boss)
If its correct, then it looks like it is
MUCH EASIER
to get, than the Shadowmourne from ICC.
25 orbs - each costs >1k gold at ICC patch beginning (if you buy by yourself) - more that 25k gold
alot of gold needed in quests,
40 shards, that you farm like 2+ months in normal mode
and crazy amount (like over 1000) of ICC trash kills, (sorry, for not remembering exactly)
Thats how it look for casual player point of view :)
Edit:
Confirmed by
this guide

Here is how I handled the Nalice fight as an Assassination Rogue.
- First, an attitude note: the Nalice fight is not about rotations or even really about DPS at all. It is about patience and survival. It is about restraining the urge to blow every combo point as soon as you get it, and save them for your important moves in the fight. This runs slightly contrary to many Rogues' usual way of thinking, but once you make that mental adjustment, the fight becomes much easier.
- For talents, I actually used what is normally my PVP build. It includes 2 points Deadly Brew (keeping Nalice slowed so I can run away as needed), 3 points Deadened Nerves and 2 points Improved Recuperate (healing and damage resistance). For buffs, I had a Flask of the Winds and a Skewered Eel food buff. I had Instant Poison main hand, Deadly off hand, Deadly on ranged in case I needed to run away and kite her a bit.
- I opened the fight from behind with Garotte. In P1, I mostly stayed in Nalice's grill, spammed Mutilate to build combo points, and Shiv'd as needed for Enrage. I did not use S&D or Envenom; I kept Rupture and Recuperate up, and saved my combo points for Cheap Shot (to stop Arcane Infused Weapon) and Expose Armor (to drop her shield). I also kicked her Arcane Missiles when I could, but they didn't do much damage, so that could be optional. My DPS was all autoattacks, Mutilate, Rupture and poisons; I just focused on staying alive and whittled her down. My health got critically low only once; I handled that by using my damage reduction cooldowns, running away and letting Nalice slowly chase me around while I healed up with Recuperate and a healing pot. Beyond that, I used very few cooldowns at all.
- In P2, I simply ran to the posts and clicked. It was actually much easier than it sounded in the above guide; with Quickening, I didn't even have to Sprint. There was an easy path right along the wall to run from the first post to the second.
- In P3, I positioned near one of the walls and fought like P1 until the Blazing debuff came out. I ran along the walls until it wore off, so that the fire was along the walls and I still had plenty of room to move around. She dropped before the second Blazing debuff, but I had plenty of space left to avoid it if needed.
All in all, it was a very in-your-face, yet very restrained fight. Like I said, it's not about DPS.
Hope this helps somebody.

I completed the 2nd stage of this yesterday, it's a little easier than the first stage I thought too... but still good fun!
Couple of comments, on this good guide.
If you complete this quest with more clusters than you needed, the remaining clusters will stay in your bags.
Take Note
. Once you have your 333 Shadowy Gems do not open any more Clusters. I opened an extra couple of Clusters by mistake and the GM's were not forgiving on this Error, Bah.
the
Distract them
image does not show the mobs to the left side handing around the device. Check the video, which does show them... so you know you're in the right place. Just a shame I only watched that today :)
Thanks again for the good guide, has helped me a lot and I'm now enjoying my
Maw of Oblivion
set.

I'll add something I don't think has been mentioned here. Using Mind Numbing on MH and Crippling on OH (may not matter which poison is on which hand) helped me a lot.
Also, respeccing to Imp Recuperate, Imp Kick, Blade Twisting and Quickening (from the Assassination tree) helped a ton. But the poison choice gave me the option to kite her during arcane infusion, freeing me to use Kidney Shot at will (or keeping Recuperate rolling).
Fantastic fight. I wonder if there is a way to re-do it once it's done (for the challenge).

Just curious i have never done any of this quest. I'm completely ignorant to its workings.
I read a section about sneaking and so on and so forth until you reach a certain person or point.
Im curious could you be summoned by a warlock to a certain point and escape all the sneaking ?

It may have been suggested already, but if you are having trouble, get Enchant Weapon - Mending on one of your weapons. I had been consistently getting Creed to 10% health before he killed me. Having some extra healing from Mending (as well as a Flask of Winds) really helped me finally take him down. I hope that a similar strategy will work on Nalice too.

OK i am having a hard time getting the first quest in this line done (Proving your worth). I guess it cannot be done if u use the LFR. Only the old fashioned way of getting a raid group together. is this accurate?
if there is another rogue in the group can both get the ring or is it one and done?

for those of you doing this at 90. (or finishing this at 90) this will take you between 13 and 20 weeks as the number of shadowy gems per cluster ranges from 4-9 per cluster. At 90 you shouldn't have any issues downing the quest bosses or DS for that matter so really you should only have problems with the stealth part of the quests.
*Note: This must be done via Normal/Heroic Dragon Soul runs not LFR. But DS and the other cataclysm raids are cross-realmable (doubt that is a word) so shouldn't be too hard to get a group together since you only need a couple 90s to clear it in about an hour.
Total ETA: 18-25 hours total gameplay @ 90

As a level 90 rogue, I had no trouble sneaking through to Nalice. I probably could have simply just killed all the NPCs. Too easy.
