Mage since Burning Crusade. Absolutely love it. Been PvPing as Frost since then, one of the highest skill-capped specs in the game (Have you ever seen a great frost mage dominate as many as four people at once? Glorious.).
During
Classic
, we were incredibly powerful yet incredibly frail cannons of glass that could one- or two-shot just about anyone using PoM-Pyro specs. The best mages made incredible use of elemental specializations, dual-wielding frost and fire spells in a very brute-force manner that can still be sometimes seen in elemental specs today. In raids, mages topped damage meters, usually using some variation on Frost due to the insane amounts of fire-resistant mobs in Classic content (Molten Core anyone?).
Burning Crusade
and patch 2.0 saw some changes to the mage paradigm: Frost gave us the survivability we needed to truly stand out in the continually warrior- and rogue-dominated PvP scene. The days of elemental spell-flinging were over: We could control our victims, lock them into the frozen prison of their eventual demise. Fire became a viable and challenging tree to PvP with. Resilience and Stamina turned us into top-tier contenders in the Arena. However, on the raiding end, our damage couldn't match the glory days of Classic. With the combination of hidden nerfs to our own damage and the design flaws of other classes, T5 content saw mages begin to slip behind the mathematically superior DPS of warlocks, rogues, and even hunters.
Wrath of the Lich King
has been a golden age, however. Arcane went from a previously piddly utility tree pre-3.0 (save for T5 content) to a formidable damage-dealing behemoth, with some excellent capability in PvP. Frost still reigns supreme among the best players in the PvP community, demonstrated daily in the PvP video-editing scene. And the combination of fire and frostfire specializations have made for many interesting raiding opportunities.
Blizzard has said it themselves: Mages sit in an extremely comfortable position. With the near-absence of design flaws, their goals going forward are to give mages more cool stuff that will make them feel ever more powerful, and ever more like true masters over the magics of the Twisting Nether. Nonetheless, they still can't seem to nail frost's viability in raiding. =/

i just submitted a screenshot of what i think is the new mage spell wall of fog. i found it when i was doin arathi basin on my lock. it slowed and dameged me when i walked over it and i cant think wat else it could be. keep in mind that this isnt on a PTR and was 1 day after the 24 hour maintinence to prepare for cataclysm

Their amazing damage can only be surpassed by even more amazing survivability which no other class can even come close to.
In Cataclysm they are getting even more damage and burst capability thus making it even better. All these reasons are why mages are usually recommended to new players. They take the least amount of skill to play and thus are preferred amongst many players/raiders.

Its on the player not on the class, if u learn to play a mage yes u can rock, but dont say that this is easy.

The mage is a mixed class. It has one of the greatest damage outputs in the game. On the other hand, it has no survivability whatsoever - unless you take care, the average mob can kill you.
The value of a mage in PvE is questionable. A mage simply can't match the sheer DPS of rogues, warlocks, hunters, and druids. Though they can deal large amounts of damage, their mana-thirsty spells render their DPS flat once they exhaust their initial supplies. However, they perform many vital roles, like shutting down trash with Polymorph.
In sheer damage, they are ahead of everyone except certain specs of warlocks and rogues. This makes them excellent at PvP, where they can 3-4 shot warriors, paladins, death knights and the like.

First character I ever made was a NE hunter I had named Saitou (sad that I still remember that) He hit 24 and I got tired with him, I dleted him and made my Mage, Enade, who to this day 3 years later is still my main.
I remember asking my server what I should spec when I hit lvl 10, most people said "Don't go frost it sucks, go Fire" So I (naturally) went "Hmmm... ok thanks" And spec'd right into Frost, I'm a Frost mage til the day I die. (and after I rez lol)

Well...back in 3.3.5 my level 47 Arcane Mage was a blast. Now in 4.0.1, my level 50 Arcane Mage is ungodly! (I only have one mage...)
Casting constantly in 3.3.5 I could take down elites with 4k HP and still end the battle with 50% mana and full health. Now I can do that with 90% mana and full health. It now takes an elite with at least 7k health to cost me 50% mana.
That said, I'm actually not trying to brag, because I have 10 toons, one of each class. In all greens, I have never had trouble taking down 2-3 mobs of my level (after level 10 or so) or a single elite my level, on any of my toons, regardless of class. Since the new patch, this is typically 4 or 5 of my level or 2 elites, again on all my toons, regardless of class. I've played probably 3 months of play time between all my toons, no less than a week on each one, and I have yet to use a single potion (health or mana) since the patch, opposed to about one per hour prior to the patch.
So...Mages are even more OP than they were before, but honestly, so is everything else. I was unhappy about the loss of Volley before the patch went live, but now I hardly notice it's missing with all the other new features (trap launcher and pet move command makes guarding the flag from the roof in WSG a synch!) The eclipse mechanic for druids isn't something I'm used to yet, but a 20% damage bonus to half of my spells isn't something I'm ever going to complain about. The new Holy Power system means my ret pally never has to spend mana to self heal, and my warlock loves both never running out of soul shards and the free bag slot.
So yeah...not to be off topic but absolutely, totally loving the new patch :D

Looking at build 13277 I am very disappointed. Once again mages are being nerfed just because they are (I must admit) a bit OP in this patch, until cata comes out, so for the next few weeks. Even in this current patch mage is not the best class (shadow priest still owns), but still blizzard feels it has to ruin it for the rest of us. Arcane blast will go from being a real weapon to being just an ordinary spell. The only good thing about this is that I am considering not playing wow anymore and actually being more productive for a change.

Love the new Mage Armor, and arcane set up, i hardly ever run out of mana even when using Mana Shield. Cant wait to get Time Warp thats gonna make us wanted even more in raids when they cant find a shammy. WEWT FOR BEING NEEDED FOR SOMETHING OTHER THAN FOOD AND PORTS!

In the case of most classes, the strategy is, "Beat it until it stops moving, then stop beating it."
For the Mages, it's different. In their case, it's, "For the love of god, kill it with fire!" Many would argue this applies also to Warlocks, but a good number of Warlocks would prefer, "Kill it with demons, then nom on their souls!"

I was one of the first players in World of Warcraft and since day 1 (actually 2 couse the first day I was a little like...how the hell do we play this?) i've been a mage.
Honestly mages aren't the funniest class to lvl (that would be druid maybe) but when you start reach the top lvls, mages will be one of the BEST classes to play! The fact that there are 3 different talents trees to dps with, being all of them diferent from each other, will make you never get bored from dpsing. To have high dps you will always need max focus due to the fact that if you cast the rong spell at the rong time can make you lose lots of dps.
On the pvp side, mages are one of the most powerfull and unstoppable classes to pvp with (if you know what you are doing ofc...). With some spells and a few range you can kill any kind of class pretty smoothie.
So if you are new to World of Warcraft or you are looking for a new really good pve/pvp class to play with, I would suggest mages.
(btw portals to move from city to city are always wanted making you to get some gold easier ; D)

my mage is now lvl 62 and it is now my favorite class to play. i can easily win lvl 66 Death Knights,Rogues and the other classes...the only ones i have a problem with are druids and shamans. These two can heal themselves and do superb DPS too.I've lost to them at every duel :(.

(Frost)Mages are by far the most pleasurable class to play in PVP IMO.
So far I have been able to burst someone down in 2v2 (yeah yeah-.-) within one polymorph. Loads of fun :))
What I do is: pop berserking, icy veins, dps trinket and Frostfire orb which gives me the oppertunity to cast >3<(sometimes four with early frost FB) and an Ice Lance plus an extra FFB.
By the time I did all of the above I still get several procs from my FFB Orb which makes me do even more ridiculous damage xD.
I definately suggest (competitive) PvPers to try out the Mage class. Not only becaus it's fun, but also becaus you learn alot from it.

After testing for a really, really long time on PvP mages and I found that all of their specs are good (arcane is pretty sucky, but still...)
Here is a short breakdown of each spec and how to play them in PvP
Frost
: Frost has always seem to be the best spec for PvP because of one reason; they can stay away from basically any form of damage. With moves like Blink, Frost Nova, Ice Barrier, Mana Shield, and like, 50% of their moves to either slow them or keep them in place, Frost players can pretty much make sure that Melee attackers can't touch them. Also, with Ice Lance, they can do
HUGE
damage over and over while the opponent is ruined in place. But, if you wan't to win 1v1 wars vs spell casters like Warlocks, look no further than the Fire Spec.
Fire
: Fire is all about damage. Actually, it's about trying to activate the Hot Streak. Thats why you try to get as much Crit chance as possible. When you have the ability to make a move that does so much damage like Pyroblast instant, you wan't to take advantage of that. Basically it's like you cast Fireball when your standing still, Scorch while your moving and Fire Blast whenever you can. Try to reforge to crit chance till you cap.
Arcane
: Arcane is always viewed as the worst PvP spec. and (although I hate to say it) thats kind of true. But that doesn't mean their useless, with using a huge selection of AoE attacks, Arcane mages are best for situations where you don't wan't the opponent to pass and you wan't to hold as much ground of possible. It's useful for Alterac Valley SotA, but not much else.

I have been playing since 2008 and one of the first toons that I started was a mage. I wound becoming enthralled with numerous other things though and eventually my poor little mage faded into the background. About 2 months ago I read an article about the crazy dps that arcane mages were capable of by only pushing one button so I decided I needed to come back to this poor overlooked little toon and see if the hype lived up. A month later and one more 85 in the bag and I finally got to see what he had up his sleeve and the rumors were true. Without having to do more than hit one button you can top almost every DPS chart and when you actually learn the toon, the sky seemingly is the limit. Never been a PVP guy either but on this toon it is actually fun. Mages deserve recognition as the hero class toons that they are. =)

Looking at the most recent MoP talent caluc , i see the mage spells they have planned, i had been wondering what would happen to Teleport : Theramore, with the fact it is getting razed in MoP, i saw they have no teleport spells/ or portals, listed for mages...
Edit "I don't see Teleport and Portal spells anywhere for mages. Should I be concerned or is this an oversight and we actually DO have it but it's not listed?
Fear not! Mages will still have all their Teleports and Portals. At this point, we decided to hide them from the talent calculator to reduce clutter."

Well guys im talking about cataclysm, and ill tell you at low levels arcane is ridiculously op> they can poly freeze and slow, and barrage does insane damage for an instant cast. plus arcane blast is also a VERY high hitting spell, so all in all mages dont really grow into thier class they are given insane moves, and told to point and shoot. I love my mage he is a level 85 bloodelf. Ill tell you that all those hater against frost are dumb as hell. I ve taken a blood dk 1v1 and warrios and rogues 2v1(odds against me). And i did with cc i have cold snap, which is a life saver in bad situations. I've been thinking about making a guide, you think it would be a good idea?

I wanted to add my 2 cents worth...My main was always my rogue, then dks came out, so then she was, until i started playing my mage...now i just don't look back...i have 5 85s, and my mage is by far, the most fun, and the most damage dealing of them all.
She is, and always has been, arcane specc'ed, and will always, and i mean always, be in the top 5 dps in an AV battle...I highly recommend arcane spec to anyone wanting to level/play a mage

This is intended to be a always-changing work in progress, and a beneficial guide for those new to this powerful class. It is not meant to be a be-all-end-all guide to all things Arcane (cheesy pun intended), and should not be treated as such; there are always variables, such as play style and/or gear level and/or raid group comp.

This is actually why Frost is weak in raids; bosses are immune to Freeze effects, and Frost's Mastery is entirely dependent on Freezes. As a result, the only things that benefit from a Frost Mage's Mastery are Ice Lance and Deep Freeze (with Fingers of Frost active on either of those).

Several addons are available for helping with this on the Curse website
. This is your highest-single-damage spell, so it's critical (sorry) to your DPS that you time it well.
For AoE fights, drop
Blast Wave
to force an Impact, and use said Impact to spread the Ignite and/or Combustion off the main target onto everyone.
Fire Blast
: Only really used to try to snipe a quick crit for Ignite, or to spread DoTs via Impact.
(Another technique that I know of, but prefer to not use, is known as 'Ignite fishing', in which one spams Scorch in an attempt to get a succession of fast crits to build an Ignite.)
If you're losing your Ignite (It has 1.3 seconds remaining and Fireball takes 1.4, for example), using a quick
Scorch
to try to save it is a commonly used tactic.
NOTE: Spec is highly dependent on the amount of
Crit
you have; higher
Crit
= more crits = more Ignites = higher
Combustion
= more overall damage. By a lot.
Haste
is useful at every 5% breakpoint, but don't reforge out of crit (ever) unless that single reforge can take you to the next breakpoint. As a general rule, Fire shouldn't be attempted with an iLvl (I know, iLvl isn't a good judge of player skill, but it does affect/reflect secondary stats) below 390, due to
Crit
issues, and isn't truly effective until T13 PvE 4-set is obtained. Crit chance should be over 30% with haste of 15%, buffed, before this should be tried.
Frost
: Is hard to play effectively in PvE. Simple as that (Note: key word, effectively. You can play
PvE Frost
in Cata raids if you want, you're just highly unlikely to be able to pull as high numbers as you would with another spec).
Spell priorities

Frostbolt
: Your bread and butter spell. Cast when
Frostfire Orb
is on CD and you have no
Fingers
proc. (I'm basing these analyses for Frost off of a 'generic' boss fight, e.g. Yor'Sahj)
Ice Lance
: An instant cast spell for when movement is required, or for when you have a Fingers of Frost proc up.
Frost Nova
: Can be ignored except to immobilize snare-able mobs (Does this work on
Twilight Sapper
?.
Ring of Frost
: Can be ignored. (Small note: I don't know if this works on the Twilight Sapper. Feel free to test and reply in a comment. If it does, it might be useful.)
Freeze(Pet)
: Is useful. Use on CD to generate two stacks of
Fingers of Frost
, and deal (very slightly) more damage.
Frostfire Orb
(Spec alteration of
Fire Orb
); Use on CD. Medium-damage spell, use at range.
Frostfire Bolt
: Use on procs only. Unmodified by
Fingers of Frost
, so no point in saving it. Can trigger
Fingers

Arcane Blast
is your bread and butter filler spell. Every time it's cast, it applies a debuff to the caster (you) that increases its mana cost dramatically, but shortens the cast time and increases damage (The ability can be glyphed to cause the debuff to grant 3% more damage. This bonus is
per stack
).
Arcane Barrage
: This is the spell granted to you by picking the Arcane tree. At low levels, it's very useful, having a (fairly) low mana cost, benefiting from your Arcane specialization, and doing a fair amount of burst damage. At higher levels (Especially post-80), it quickly begins to lose its charm, and becomes a filler for the 'recovery' phase instead of a used-on-CD ability.
Arcane Missile
: If you played pre-Cata, you remember it as a short cooldown'ed, channelled ability that launched several cute little Arcane blobs at the target at fairly high speeds. Post-Cata launch, it's no longer a CD, and costs no mana, but requires a proc to use. Luckily (or unluckily for some people who love it a little (lot) too much), it has a high chance to proc (40%) off of any damaging spell you launch (meaning it procs a LOT in upper-gear-level burn phases)
Arcane Power
: (
AP
for short, not to be confused with Attack Power) is one of an
Arcane
Mage's three cooldowns that are used regularly. When used, it:causes you to, for 10 seconds,
deal 20% more Spell Damage, but at 10% more mana cost.
This is not used on CD, per say, but is used for the Arcane burn phase.
Evocation
: An Arcane Mage's best friend. I'm not joking here. When activated, it causes the caster (you) to regenerate
15% of your total mana pool instantly and another 45% over 6 seconds
. And when talented in the
Arcane
tree, it only has a cooldown of
two
minutes. (which is a good thing, otherwise Arcane's burn phase wouldn't be nearly as good)
Presence of Mind
: Personally, I use this in VERY long fights (Madness) in which I've engaged in multiple burn phases and want to regain my gems instantly. (If you're not at all familiar with Arcane, my explanation of the rotation (coming later in this post) will clear this up a little). Two minute cooldown, which lines up pretty well with a geared Mage's phases and need for a new

can be used in a pinch to spread damage over a group of tightly clustered enemies. To use it, one sets a primary focus (e.g., on a 'black ooze' phase of Yor'sahj, you'd set Yor as your damage focus, because he has a LOT of HP compared to the minions), and stack two
Arcane Blast
debuff stacks. You then cast
Arcane Explosion
, which also benefits from the debuff and doesn't break it. When the debuff has two seconds remaining, cast
Arcane Blast
at the focus target again, refreshing

Invisibility
, while not an offensive ability, is used often at the beginning of the fight; if the Arcane Mage pulls aggro from the tank through burst damage, it's possible (and even, unfortunately, probable) that the tank won't realize s/he lost aggro and as a result, the Mage is usually one-shotted. To avoid this, as soon as the Mage sees that s/he has high aggro, or even the <Attacking You!> from the boss, s/he can use Invisibility (While both other Mage specs have a 'fading time',
removes that for Arcane) to instantly reset their own aggro, which will give the tank slightly more time with which to regain control.
Mage Armor
is, no doubt, the maker or breaker of an Arcane Mage's burn phases.
restores a percentile of the Mage's overall mana at a consistent rate (the Armor should be glyphed, for maximum efficiency), thus prolonging the burn phase and reducing the recovery phase.

ok i dont know if anyone has posted this opr discovered it, but as soon as you reach evel 16 a very interesting ability becomes available to mages.
if you train in the "blink" ability, theres a special trick that allows you to fall from unlimited heights and survive any fall.
just before you hit the ground, "blink" forward, and you will land completely unharmed. this works from any height. i tried jumping off stromwind walls, even jumping all the way down from the top of teldrassil!
this is a foolproof trick as long as you time it corectly, and i found it interesting to note that it hadnt been mentioned earlier.

As far as mages go I have always prefered fire though I believe its best to stick with the specialization you prefer, because honestly if your good at a rotation that will increase your dps more then using a specialization your not familiar with. Right now for MoP it recommends frost as #1 and then fire then arcane, I have proficiency in both frost and fire and personally find fire to be higher right now.
The rotation can be difficult to start with for some but once you get the hang of it , it pays off. Personally I love specing into livimg bomb and rune of power, these 2 will improve dps though you have to keep them up at all times. One main loss of dps as a fire mage is not keeping living bomb up at all times, wait for it to drop then re apply asap.
stats priority = Intel - crit - haste - mastery Hit rating should be 15%
There is debate on scorch vs fireball for the main spam, I use fireball majority of the time and scorch only if the fight has no down time and your always on the move.

My Thoughts on Mages:
I have tried all three specs but I tend to prefer Fire and Frost to Arcane. Then again I like all three specs. Fire may not have the DPS of the other two but it has proved to be the most fun in my opinion. Frost is insane for PvP. I play a Fire Mage and a Frost Mage and they both are loads of fun.

ULTIMATE WOW INDEPENDENCE UTILITY GUIDE.
RACE - MECHAGNOME:
Mechagnomes are small visual targets for PvP, just like regular Gnomes.
1. Skeleton pinkie - lockpicking (no need for rogues).
2. Mastercraft - personal anvil, cooking fire, forge + all profession tools.
3. Hyper Organic Light Originator - a worse "Mirror Image" with threat reduction. Good for PvE escapes.
CLASS - MAGE:
Powerful DPS with a "tank" pet if Frost spec (powerful PvP spec).
1. Invisibility - useful to flee, unaggro, scout or pass by NPCs and players. It's not Stealth, though.
2. Remove Curse - removes curses (useful against Warlocks).
3. Spellsteal - steals usefull buffs.
4. Mirror Image - useful for escaping PvE and sometimes PvP.
5. Ice Block - protects from damage.
6. Blink - removes movement impair and if used in time, avoids fall damage. Plus can leap gaps.
7. Slow Fall - magical parachute for self and others.
8. Conjure Refreshments - free food for self and players.
9. Teleport and Portal - major cities and places, including Ancient Dalaran (useful for Ally)
MOUNTS:
+ Reins of the Grand Expedition Yak
+ Reins of the Mighty Caravan Brutosaur
+ Riding Turtle
+ Vial of Sands.
+ Inflatable Mount Shoes - walk on water (no need for DK, Shaman or Priest buff).
3 seats mount - travel with two players (and fly with one through Vial of Sands)
Yak: Vendor/Repair + Transmog.
Brutosaur: Vendor/Repair + Auction House.
Turtle: navigate on water fast and goes on land without dismounting (no need for Druid aquatic form).
NOTEWORTHY CARRY ITEMS:
01. Darkmoon Card: Twisting Nether (10% ressurection chance).
02. Miniature Voodoo Mask - three more gnomes for your army (Mirror Image + H.O.L.O).
03. Katy's Stampwhistle - alternative portable mailbox.
04. Hearthstone - useful to stay in frequent locations, such as new expansion zones.
05. Dalaran Hearthstone - Legion Dalaran teleport.
06. Garrison Hearthstone - WoD Garrison teleport.
07. S.E.L.F.I.E. Camera - custom screenshots.
08. Anglers Fishing Raft - useful to navigate through water.
09. Sturdy Love Fool - portable target dummy for practice.
10. Argent Squire/Gruntling + Argent Pony Bridle - portable bank, vendor and mailbox.
11. Guild Page/Herald - guild items vendor.
12. Brazier of Awakening - ressurects one player after a wipe in dungeon/raid. Can be used for self-resurrection without being in a group or raid.
PROFESSIONS:
A-) Engineering:
1. Can craft multiple useful gear, scopes, gadgets, wormholes (personal portals) and benefit from permanent "enchants".
2. Can create mounts, such as the Mekgineer's Chopper (which can carry another player).
3. Can create flying mounts, such as Flying Machine and Sky Golem.
Noteworthy schematics/recipes:
01. Gnomish Gravity Well - usefull to reach higher places and avoid fall damage.
02. Loot-A-Rang - loot items from afar.
03. Thermal Anvil - makes anvils/forge for other people to use. Useful in Dungeons/Raids.
04. Auto-Hammer - makes repair for other people to use. Useful in Dungeons/Raids.
05. Swapblaster - useful for unstucking other players.
06. Flexweave Underlay - parachute enchant for cloak. Essentially a Slow Fall.
07. Nitro Boosts - sprint enchant for boots.
08. MOLL-E - portable mailbox.
09. Wormhole Generator: Northrend - portal to multiple places in Northrend.
10. Wormhole Centrifuge - portal to multiple places in Draenor.
11. Wormhole Generator: Argus - portal to multiple places in Argus
12. Wormhole Generator: Kul Tiras - portal to multiple places in Kul Tiras
13. Wormhole Generator: Pandaria - portal to multiple places in Pandaria
14. Wormhole Generator: Zandalar - portal to multiple places in Zandalar
15. Wormhole Generator: Shadowlands - portal to multiple places in the Shadowlands.
16. Jeeves - personal bank/vendo/repair every 1 hour.
17. Steam Tonk Controller/Battered Steam Tonk Controller - kind of an "Eye of Killrog". Useful for scouting.
18. Ornate Spyglass - zooms in for far sight.
19. White Smoke Flare - marking locations.
20. Gnomish Cloaking Device - invisibility for 10 secs. every 60 minutes.
21. Gnomish Net-o-Matic Projector - snares target for 10 secs. Can go wrong, but you can Blink though.
22. Ultrasafe Transporter: Gadgetzan - teleports to Gadgetzan (Tanaris) for Gnomish engineers.
23. Dimensional Ripper - Everlook - teleports to Everlook (Winterspring) for Goblin engineers.
24. Ultrasafe Transporter: Toshley's Station - teleports to Toshley's Station in Outland.(Gnomish engineers only)
25. Dimensional Ripper - Area 52 - teleports to Area 52 in Outland (Goblin engineers only)
26. Disposable Spectrophasic Reanimator - ressurects players while in combat.
27. Dimensional Shifter - invisibility enchant for waist.
28. Deployable Attire Rearranger - portable transmog.
29. Interdimensional Companion Repository - portable stable master.
30. Ultimate Gnomish Army Knife - ressurects players + all profession tools (no need for other classes Ressurect abilities)
*OBS.: the Gnomish Army Kife can fail sometimes and cannot be cast while in combat.
B-) Alchemy:
1. Benefits from many philosopher stones.
2. Can trasmute many items. Useful for other professions, including Engineering.
3. Can make cauldrons for multiple uses for other players.
4. Can craft Vial of Sands mount (flying 2 passenger mount).
Noteworthy potions:
01. Spiritual Anti-Venom - cures poisons. Useful agains mobs and rogues.
02. Potion of Slow Fall/Sea Mist Potion/Avalanche Elixir - protects agains fall damage.
03. Potion of Concealment - shadowmeld without being a Night Elf.
04. Potion of Unhindered Passing - immunity to stuns and movement impairing.
05. Elixir of Greater Water Breathing - water breathing (no need for Shaman and Warlock buffs)
06. Elixir of Detect Demon - shows demons on minimap
07. Elixir of Detect Undead - shows undead on minimap
08. Elixir of Detect Lesser Invisibility - detects INVISIBLE targets (ex. mages)
09. Elixir of the Searching Eye - detects STEALTHED targets (ex. rogues and druids). No need for Hunter flares.
10. Elixir of Water Walking - walks on water (without DK, Shaman or Priest buffs)
C-) Fishing:
Essentially free food for self and players. Useful for gathering Alchemy and Cooking reagents.
Noteworthy items:
1. Weather-Beaten Journal - detect fish school on minimap.
2. Mastercraft Kalu'ak Fishing Pole - +13 fishing and waterbreathing.
3. High Test Eternium Fishing Line - +5 fishing
4. Glow Worm - + 100 fishing
5. Nat Pagle's Extreme Anglin' Boots - + 5 fishing.
6. Weather-Beaten Fishing Hat - + 5 fishing and free +75 lure.
7. Formula: Enchant Gloves - Angler - + 5 fishing enchant for gloves.
8. Hook of the Master Angler - you become a fish, swimming faster and breathing underwater.
D-) Cooking:
1. Can make individual and collective food for self and players, some of which have buffs that give Well Fed.
2. Cooking fire gives Spirit and it's cool to wait around for people.
Noteworthy items and recipes:
1. Chef's Hat - cooks faster.
2. Recipe: Thistle Tea - rare item, since only rogues can purchase now. Recovers energy.
E-) Archaeology:
1. Discover rare items with useful and/or fun utilities.
2. Discover gear and mount recipes, such as Vial of Sands, craftable by Alchemists.
Noteworthy items:
1. Headdress of the First Shaman - essentially a Shaman's Far Sight. Good for scouting.
2. The Last Relic of Argus - random teleport.
3. Sanguinating Totem - health leech every 1 min 30 secs. Essentially a Warlock's Drain Life.

Arcane Missiles
completely ruined play for me.
Clearcasting
is just far too random to be meaningful or useful, and I have not been able to find a suitable, new proc. I genuinely loathe the game right now.
Did they just not want people to have fun playing?
