Note that putting this in your bank will reset the debuff. I did this fairly easily solo by hoofing it from the pick-up point to the Azshara flight path, flying to Ratchet (just enough health to survive the flight), then dropping in the bank to reset it. Pick it up again and run for the warlock camp, casting Shadow Ward as you go. No deaths!

For some reason, the Invisibility Potion you're given to help you stealth past the elites is REQUIRED for you to complete the quest. Yet it's a consumable item. This is likely a bug.

Regardless, you can safely abandon the quest right in front of Raszel Ander. You will retain your Bough of Shadows. Reaccept the quest and you'll receive another Invisibility Potion. Then you can turn in the quest.

if you abandoned this quest and go to pick it up back up, make to sure to dismount as he is invisible to you.

debuff is 600-ish damage (might be 40% of max health, since damage was initially higher) every 40-ish (someone else said it. Seems close enough) seconds. Also reduces stats per stack. 1 strength, 2 spirit. Other stats in between. Could also be a % amount.
Flying seems to make you immune to the damage.
Otherwise use Shadow Ward and buy food. Resistance doesn't seem to affect it.

A Solid Foundation

The Emerald Dragons protect several portals to the Emerald Dream throughout Azeroth. One of these locations surely has what we need.

Once you've found a Bough of Shadows return with haste.

Description

Reforming the weapon has proven challenging, and it's still unclear how the ritual failed, but I believe we have devised an alternative solution.

To start we need a sturdy base; a Bough of Shadows.

These trees are malignant growths of the Emerald Nightmare seeping into our world. It's said they weaken the wills of those around them. This magical property will be the foundation we use to build this weapon.

To aid your search, take this potion. It will hide you from the Emerald Dragons' minions.
