It pisses me off to no end when someone blames the pandemic for not doing their job properly. Lazy people will always find excuses why not to work. Good news on D2R, though. Hopefully it wont end up like Reforged, as D2 (along with WC3) is one of my most favourite games I used to play 16 years ago.
"Blizzard's decision to remaster Diablo 2 was caused by the intention to reignite the core audience of the franchise."Was that why visual style was changed, despite requests from the older audience not to do that? I feel reignited.
Simply put Blizzard don't want to invest into WoW's new expansions more than what they did 10 years ago. And it doesn't work like that anymore. Games cost more to develop today than what they did 10 years ago. You need way more manpower to model everything even if it's stylized it still takes more time than it did during wrath and so on. I just don't understand this logic. They think that people don't want to play wow and they invest less. It's the opposite. People want to play wow but they don't let us = they're not making enough content. Just make the sub cost 2$ more and invest into the game's development. 2$ * 3m people = 6million $ each month. That would be enough to sustain 80 (3d modelers, concept artist) new designers for a whole year just from one month of raised sub cost of 2 dollars.
Great interview, and I really love Rod Fergusson's shirt. Gonna have to get myself one! 😄
Man, I think I need a vacation from this community:Devs: <Diablo 2 interview>Players: "WoW is dying!"
Huh. I'd forgotten that Rod had moved on from The Coalition to Blizzard.
Nothing regarding the numerous feedback about the remaster missing features (being able to reassign talent more than 3 times / more modern map / tp system / being able to right click sell on shops / better gold roll system / etc) I'm scared that they decided to just discard those and keep with the release date, the alpha while nice needed those few polishes to be a really great modern experience without touching the core experience.
