With WoW Classic releasing this summer, the Wowhead team is hiring freelancers to assist us with Classic content! We have been working hard to prepare as much information as possible for you about Classic, both with our database and team of guide writers, but we are always looking for more writers.
This is a paid opportunity
.
What is Wowhead?
Wowhead is the largest site dedicated to World of Warcraft information, serving the community for over 14 years. Starting as a humble talent calculator, we have expanded to a database, model viewer, news, and guides on all topics including classes and collections.
How to Apply
If you are 18 or older, have experience with Vanilla WoW, and are familiar with guide/technical writing, we'd love to hear from you. Send us an e-mail talking about your experience, your area of expertise in WoW, and some writing examples to
. At the current time, we are looking for people that are passionate about any aspect of Classic WoW, whether they are interested in writing guides about aspects of Classes, Dungeons & Raids, or PvP, to name a few.
Feel free to send any questions you might have about this offer to our e-mail or reach any of our staff in our
Discord Server
.
Classic Wowhead Development So Far
We here are Wowhead are thrilled to develop the best WoW Classic resource, with all the tools and content you’ve come to expect from the BFA version of the site. We launched
Classic Wowhead
for the BlizzCon 2018 demo and have steadily been adding features and data improvements to it ever since. We look forward to improving the site even more with accurate details on NPCs, Quests, Zones, and other parts of the database.
Our
Classic Guides
section is well underway, with over 100 written guides submitted! Anyone can write a new guide by
clicking here
.
Here’s a recap of some of our Classic updates since November:
Talent Calculator
: Wowhead started off as a humble talent calculator and now we're back with how it all started. Fill in your talent points across the three trees, and share your build by simply linking the URL.
Classic Model Viewer
: You can't change your character's appearance or race in Classic WoW, so going with the perfect look is important on the first try. With the
Classic Dressing Room
, preview characters using their original models in any available armor and weapons. Through the years, Blizzard has updated many low-resolution models such as the Prairie Dog--but they are back in their blocky glory on our Classic site. Simply open up View 3D on any NPC page to see the original models.
Classic Database
: Our database sections for
items
and
spells
are now live! You can browse these databases to learn more about items, such as the stats and proc on
Thunderfury
, as well as spells, such as all related ranks for
Class Abilities
and when you can unlock and train them. We’ve also updated the wiki sections on all database articles to contain only Classic information.
Tooltips
: Classic Wowhead tooltips are now available for 3rd-party sites to use and we continually update them with feature requests from the community.
Classic Comments: We’ve brought back all the original comments from
Thottbot
and
Allakhazam
--several hundred thousand in total!
Thottbot Visual Theme: We love Classic WoW so much, we created a
Thottbot skin
for the site! Log in to change the site from black/red to white/blue.
Discord Webhook
: Similar to our regular news webhook, installed in over 13,000 servers, we’ve launched a webhook dedicated to Classic news.

While we speak about Classic wowhead, is there a way to filter item with old stats like increase healing and mp5, even hit rating seem to return 0 item.
Like we say in the post, we're still looking to improve some things and bug reports/feature requests can be sent to so we can organize them easily. Today for example, we changed spell tooltips to show damage ranges instead of coefficients, which was a weird display bug caused by modern data.
Sweet! Seal of Command is finally displaying right in the Paladin Retribution Talent Tree.
Thanks, that's been bothering me for some time :P

Lots of stuff is better when presented as a good video - and if someone is capable of making quality technical videos then those are done under his/her brand so you would have to have a sort of partnership program as there is no reason to drop those brands and make stuff for wowhead brand.
We're not opposed to video partnerships, and have pursued them in recent years, but not everything is better when presented solely as a video. There are many types of learners, and our core users generally use the site to read a detailed explanation on a Warcraft topic. People can always upload videos (others, not even their own) just by creating an account and navigating to the relevant database page, but we've found for Wowhead's audience, the content generally goes over better when there's a written analysis attached to it. We in fact work with several creators for BFA that like writing a guide to supplement their video, which we think is a great balance.
