Welcome to the latest edition of our WoW Classic Addon Spotlight! In these articles, we highlight the best addons to ensure an enhanced Classic WoW experience for players.
In this edition, we will highlight
AtlasLootClassic
, a classic addon that helps players look through loot tables fast and efficiently.
Click here to download AtlasLootClassic on CurseForge
Addon Usage
AtlasLoot was once upon a time one of the most popular addons used in the game, giving the players the ability to look at the loot table from dungeons, raids, and even PvP quickly. Cataclysm, however, turned most of the addon's usage unnecessary by introducing the Dungeon Journal to the game. Since Classic won't have this system, the addon once more becomes useful to players.
You can access the addon directly by clicking at its icon on the minimap or by typing
/atlasloot
or
/al
in chat. From there you can navigate throught its menus to look at all the loot options it shows.
How to Install Addons in WoW Classic
Installing addons in Classic follows the same flow as installing one manually in retail WoW. First, you must download the addon from
WoWInterface
or other Addon repositories. Then, you need to extract the addon in your Classic WoW folder, which will look something like this:
C:\World of Warcraft\_classic_\Interface\AddOns
Note that the interface folder won't exist if you haven't opened the Classic client in your computer yet.
If successful, a new button will appear when you reach the character screen, that is used to list all addons installed.

addons existed since the beginning of WoW and were part of the "vanilla experience" for some, including me, as I think the default UI sucks and couldn't imagine playing with no mods.
Except this goes against the whole definition of "vanilla" as the term itself implies that there are no modifications in place. If someone says they like add-ons in vanilla, they mean the like modded pre-TBC WoW, not vanilla WoW.
You've got the general usage of the term "vanilla" correct, although not its application in this context. For almost all of the history of WoW (any time post-Vanilla), "Vanilla" has referred to World of Warcraft without expansion packs - the first iteration of the game excluding expansion content. Not World of Warcraft without addons. The term "vanilla" has been used for this, because it's faster than saying "first iteration of the game excluding any expansion content", since simply "World of Warcraft" encompassed all iterations of the game. Indeed, many consider addons a central tenet of their Vanilla experience.
You're the only person I've ever encountered to think "Vanilla" meant "without addons" rather than "without expansions". Otherwise, by your logic, current retail World of Warcraft played without addons is still "Vanilla WoW".
