Rest in peace bro
Rest in peace Joana, such an inspiring player.
As noted by the article, his levelling record was always going to be beaten, especially once people had years of experience under the belt, but for its time it was astonishingly fast. There weren't that many levelling guides out there in Vanilla WoW (I can recall one or two others - and a notorious one that began at level 30 with the instruction: Grind to level 31), and it was made worse by the fact that you had to have two different guides, one for each faction.Of course, WoW was also changing during Vanilla, with areas and quest chains being added in (Azshara and the level 50 class quest chains springs to mind), so levelling guides were constantly being tweaked and perfected. For me, Joana's levelling guide will always remind me of a time where WoW wasn't datamined six ways to sunday, and where there was an awful lot of things to discover and learn for yourself.Fun fact, I levelled my first level 60 character as a holy priest. Why? Because a friend of mine told me healers had an easier time getting into dungeon and raid groups, and I hadn't realised I could respec my talents...
Back in TBC I used Joana's guide to level my first toon, who I still play as my main today. Sad news.I won't say "rest in peace", though. I think he would have resented the unnecessary downtime.
He passed away on the launch of the cataclysm pre-patch. What a legend. RIP.
Such a shock and extremely sad. This one hit me a bit. I remember printing out the levelling guide sheet by sheet and following them religiously back in the day. Rest in peace.
RIP.Hopefully he is in a better place. He left his mark in the WoW gaming community and hopefully Blizzard will honor him in some way. I think he has earned it.
He has always had a VoD of his speed running active over at Twitch, and it's still going right now, if you want to check it out.
That's heartbreaking. I remember using a printed out copy of one of his guides when I leveled my first character when BC was fresh. Rest in peace.

Rest in piece.
I remember needing to level a toon quickly to 60 so I could join a new raiding guild. The guild wanted me fast and said could I get there in 2 weeks. The only way I made it was using Joana's horde leveling guide. Sad news indeed today. May he rest in peace.
I still use his guides to this day... not because I need to, but because it reminds me of playing way, way back then, when times were simpler. So much better than zygor's. RIP Joana you are the biggest WoW chad from the old school chads.
May you rest in peace, Paul.
Damn! It ticks me off to hear someone die. Rest easy, hero.
You will be missed, your guides and dedication helped me level up lots of characters.
Rip
