Hmmm lets hope they can implement it b4 next expac lol.
This would be awesome. Love Torghast. But no need to run in multiple times.
I think Torghast leveling could be a really good addition. I'm sad to hear that they won't be touching Twisting Corridors in 9.1 at all, I feel that's a really wasted opportunity since that was supposed to be the 'challenge mode' sort of deal for the tower. Oh well.
This sounds like a good idea on paper but in practice I don't think Torghast would make good leveling content. It would basically be either a long, big mob farm or people would speed run to the end of the floor for a burst of completion exp. People would use/avoid it based purely on it's leveling efficiency rather than because they want to level by climbing floors in the tower. If it's efficient people will run it. If it's inefficient people will question why it exists as an option and avoid it.Not to mention the complicated side effects for players, when they experience the totality of their SL leveling experience with Anima powers then to encounter the reality that the majority of their gameplay in SL (Outside Torghast) doesn't have those powers present. If you leveled a Shaman through Torghast and had a great experience being a Shaman with your Elemental running around with you the whole time you are going to have less fun outside of Torghast where that doesn't happen. Torghast is fun because it lets you do stuff like that; broken, OP, powerful feeling stuff you don't get to experience in an environment where game balance needs to matter. When that is your leveling experience-- as a first experience for a new class, unfamiliar alt, or as a returning player --everything else runs the risk of feeling boring or weak once you are outside the tower and engaged with the rest of the game sans the Anima powers that intentionally break the standard power curve.
Add renown to twisting corridors and people will do that too instead of just one and done.
It would also be nice to be able to get some gear at the end of a torghast run, similarly like the horrific visions. There could be a min-max ilvl range gear and each successful run would lower this ilvl from max to min.
Efficiency is important for leveling, but at some point just having different options is more important, as you get through main campaign or threads of fate several time you get tired of doing same and same and same again and again and again....
Ngl, that would be quite fun. I wont level 100% through TG, thats for sure. But a few levels? Sounds great.
What I don't understand is how they force players to grind torghast twice a week to cap their soul ash, which can't be done in Twisting Corridors either. They literally have a power system in the game right now that works wonders, valor for mythic+. A similar seasonal cap for soul ash that increases every week would allow players to not fall massively behind when a new legendary becomes BIS, and removes the feeling of doing a weekly chore on every alt. We would run Torghast the same number of times but it wouldn't feel like a forced grind. Why is this freedom allowed in Mythic+ (way more impactful for power progression) and not their signature expansion feature?I can't help but campare SL legendaries to Legion. Not only could you get them from any kind of content, they didn't cost tens of thousands of gold, you could wear two at once and they generally had more interesting effects, you could freely swap them out for another because they were the same ilvl.
Torghast would be an awesome way to level. Just don't add the "finishing" exp. Put the exps on mob kills, saving souls, breaking urns etc. Bosses should give a bit more exp but not enough so people just skip everything to finish the dungeon like Freehold. Or they could add an endless climbing version of Torghast where the newly added score system determines how much exp you'll get after clearing a floor.
9.3.5, probably lol
oooh that would be awesome!
That's sad. I hoped for a better leveling experience in 9.1. Currently it's just extremely boring.
"Morgan Day said:I actually love that idea. I don't think it's something we will do for 9.1, but it feels like a great addition for one of the .5 updates."That sounds more like idle musings than a "strong possibility". I would love an alternate way of leveling my alts though, and that one sounds fun to me.In BFA I leveled most of my alts running Faction Assaults and it was painless. I'm hoping we get something similar soon because at the moment I cannot be bothered with the campaign or even WQ leveling.
I think it'd be an interesting addition. I tend to bring up a lot of alts and I'd definitely be up for giving this a try. The lack of gear drops and Renown gains are an apparent down-side at first glance, but if they are to make it a viable leveling option they'd certainly address them. And another poster made a good point - leveling with all kinds of wild super-powers from anima caches, etc., would be a lot of fun but would not prepare you for playing the character out in the world. If it's just alts I guess that's not so bad - I mean, there's always something of a learning curve for me when I ding max level and switch from a rotation that works while grinding/questing to what you have to do in PvP, etc.I'd give it a shot if it were an option, for sure.
