Heck yea!So basically anyone with Soul of Iron hasn't died, thereby making it an indicator of a hardcore character. Rad.The question is what happens at L60? If you die, do you still lose it? For people not participating in the Hardcore Ragnaros challenge, they'd probably want to keep the buff as an indicator that they leveled 1-60 without dying.
Good luck to those who wants to show up with Soul of Iron buff while wearing raid items!
This is neat. Hopefully it goes well and they expand upon it in the future.
super cool
Now make it so only Soul of Iron players can party up with Soul of Iron players. To prevent same level boosting and cleave groups.
Good to see them listening to the "hardcore" community however it doesn't feel very hardcore to me. No perma death. No real benefits of the risk other than a flex...How about a 1% stat increase for hardcore players whilst still with a soul of iron and perma death once loosing it. With increased speed on levelling, which will hopefully be increased further, its not so much of a hard thing to take.
Classic gets more and better development than SL.
The "Never Known Defeat" line in the Soul of Iron buff looks identical to the way World Buffs were stored in Chronoboon Displacer, meaning they have the ability to add additional lines. This is a total guess, but it would be neat if it acted as a pseudo-achievement system, adding a line for clearing each raid tier's end boss without dying.
Assuming "Soul of Iron" is a reference to OSRS Ironman, I hope they intend to add in restrictions in spirit of what "Hardcore mode" actually is. IE: No trading, no AH, no grouping with non-hardcores, ect. If they don't, this mode isn't much of a flex and will be DoA. We'll see...
I thought the ironman challenge was about more than just not dying? In LOTRO you had achievements for reaching various levels without being defeated, Classic does not have achievements though..
so the easiest way to keep this is to be a paladin and just bubble hearth at any sign of defeat including raids ect?
Seems pretty bare bones and I hope that 1% is a placeholder.I would like to see this expanded to be more like Ironman/Hardcore Ironman like in OSRS. Although, I can already see issues arising due to the nature of WoW (group content such as dungeons/raids/elite quests).Maybe awarding some kind of title(s) for leveling to 60 without dying or being in a group or trading/AH, leveling professions without trading/AH, obtaining epic riding without trading/AH, etc ... Simply not dying can be easily be cheesed by being funneling gold/gear/consumes with a main account. Or hell, just having a pet healer follow your hardcore character would make this a joke. It's a good start though.
The wow ironman challenge has existed within the community for a very long time, this isn't the wow designers suddenly taking inspiration from runescape. You peeps should look it up, there are quite a few more rules other than not dying, like only wearing white and grey gear, never joining a party etc.Too bad this buff doesn't seem to count anything other than dying.
I wonder how this mechanic is going to interact with skills such as Reincarnation or Soulstone. I hope they won't work, otherwise some classes will have massive advantage.
Lets Go!
