Yep, agreed that having random ranges for those values will just be a source of frustration. These will be static values in the next PTR update. That's good at least.
Incoming 10 - 17 - 25 as the static values..
it is a good improvementbut i think i would prefer to see the corruption as a form of enchant that you can only use on your currently equipped items this way you still have the RNG component that the devs so crave but it has a little more control for the player
Good that they're listening. This is a fairly new thing for them that takes the Benthic idea a bit further. Hope they can fine-tune it over time to make it a permanent replacement for Titanforging, maybe some more funky effect that makes them more like "Tier bonuses" but instead of class themed effects they're raid themed effects like the procs from Dragon Soul weapons.
So we're down to fewer rolls yeah? Correct me if I'm totally wrong but now it's hope you get the item, hope it's Tier 1, 2 or 3 in corruption/affix value, hope it's a positive trait? While not the ideal regular drops, we're getting there. Being able to purify the armor and choose to not involve myself in the RNG fest is a huge plus. One step closer to True BiS farming again.Still no mention of random roll sockets on gear POG?
Ion's note about "lots and lots of iteration to follow" tells me this patch (8.3) is not looking like it will be out soon. I was originally thinking the patch mid December with the raid unlock in mid-end Jan, but I think even the patch will be Jan at this point.
I was pleasantly surprised.
If people actually want to see retail succeed, then they should give real feedback.
Me: Blizzard, we don't want Titanforging.Blizzard: We "don't" have Titanforging at home, Sweetie.Me: Okay."No Titanforging at home" = CorruptforgingAnother example:Mechagnomes. What we have are not the Mechagnomes we asked for. We wanted the original Mechagnomes introduced in Ulduar, what we got are Junker Gnomes that amputate their limbs to try to be like Mechagnomes. Why does Blizzard butcher the hell out of what we ask from them? It's so simple: We want Mechagnomes, not Junker Gnomes. We don't want Titanforging or Corruptforging or any kind of forging. STOP.
This is a good change and we should acknowledge when Blizzard takes feedback and implements it. I think the corruption system will be better than TF in the long run, but the downsides of the system will hold it back until players get enough ways to reduce corruption weeks/months into the patch.
