Cool idea, I'd be interested to see more things like this
Interesting, I worry that this might make certain sections of profession leveling too easy, but i'm not so sure about that. We'll have to see how they're obtained!
No Archeology catch-up journal.Honestly hoping they fix the profession or make it account-wide.
Great! Leveling up professions is the worst aspect of professions imo. Since around MoP they have significantly ruined my joy from leveling up professions and now I only level them for the achievements.
Its getting over some of the humps in crafting proffs that these will shine.
Is...there a point to professions having a catch-up mechanism? Professions aren't even that meaningful right now anyway, and I'm not sure if gathering professions especially even need to have skillups at all anymore. Pretty sure there's zero difference between 0 and 175 BfA fishing, for example. But I guess in the absence of meaningful professions, letting players slowly rank them up practically for free as an alternative to burning a bunch of gold and/or mats is totally fine. Not sure what good having a max rank profession is anymore, but at least you'll have them!
Would love to see a vendor that converts these journal pages for "Shadowlands {profession}" to "{pick your prior expansion} {profession}".Or something like how Inscriptionists can buy old inks with new inks, just for the other professions.
Oh my god thank you Blizz. Grinding out those last ten points between 'tiers' in professions was always super annoying, and I used to count the days 'til the Darkmoon Faire. This is such a nice change to me. :)
You can only use one per week, it says. Which I am interpreting to mean one across all professions per week, right? That is, I have to pick if I want to use Cooking, or Fishing, or Mining, or Engineering this week, because I can only use one this week. That is how I am reading this at least. So, level up the easy professions without these journals, and save them to use for the difficult professions.
1% drop chance from once per week Rare only mob :P
I hope that leveling crafting proffs won't be too annoying in terms of recipe difficulty breakpoints. I don't want to run across too many situations where I need, say, 10 more points but all but the most expensive recipes are green at best. In that situation, these journals would come in handy, and since they only give 5 points and can only be used once a week, I feel like that'll be their main benefit. If proffs launch in a similar state as they are in the Alpha, well, mats should remain valuable for a while since crafting will be worth it. Maxing out crafting proffs early might break the bank, or maybe so many people will be playing (and farming) that it'll balance out. Guess we'll see.
Archeology is going away I think...
I am shocked at how dumbass the devs are.Have they decided to completely destroy professions now? This will likely make Darkmoon Faire even more dead than it is already without a quick way to get there, and without a REASONABLY priced hats to re-apply the buff, if they insist on not making WHEE simply last through death. But this is destroying the economy, too - the whole POINT was to create demand for farmed mats, and at the same time to create dumps. That is, to give people reasons to say, go skin, and the crafters to craft from that leather.Instead, dumbasses:- allowed mats in WoD to stack to higher quantity, only to devalue this by requiring multitudes of a new 200 stack to make one item- instead of increasing variety and number of crafted items, say, by adding yellow "training project" vendor greys that sell for decent gold, decided to completely DESTROY fun and variety by weeding any choices and FORCING people to craft ONE SPECIFIC item (usually because nothing else gives skillups, or everything else takes more mats to craft)- instead of protecting crafter investment, they decided to only let us craft completely useless garbage that only rich get for 10 minutes it is useful on their umpteenth alt- instead of letting us get something out of onerous grind to get the best recipes, they made it all BoP when using SOME, sensible, not stacks again, of mat from raid would have been sufficient (as it was in Pandaria, or WoD, or legion, when professions were somewhat useful)FFS. Where are their brainz, did the zombies get to them?
