Good for you blizz, as a Trans myself I'm glad you're opening up.....Wait. It's literally the blizzard logo on clothing, in rainbow colouring.. which is overpriced cheap clothing... Big pass.
My issue with the merch is that it's so low effort. I could add a rainbow gradient to any logo in photoshop in 5 min
It's always good to see an inclusive and diverse environment, and I'm glad these employees can be open about who they are in their workplace.
Wow a blizzard logo with rainbow colors. Look at all that work. Absolutely incredible
Did the fans want them though? Or is Valentine at Blizz just the convenient mouthpiece to justify why we should accept a rainbow color blizz logo shirt because that person is trans?
It's really simple: either make it real cheap or donate the proceeds to an LGBT+ charity. You can't be like "oh we're so selflessly pro LGBT, look at us, we're so inclusive", but also make money off it. The goal with these ones is to make money for Activision, else they'd be much cheaper. That is rainbow capitalism, no matter if some of the workers Activision exploits are queer or not.
As a gay man I just cannot approve of poor fashion. But hey, good for them for making a t-shirt.
Glad to know that Blizzard is donating to the Trevor Project. It’s a great organization. I’ll be getting a shirt just for that reason. I donate regularly to them anyhow, but this time I get a shirt.
It is a simple design, but as the twitter thread says, it was designed and made by LGBT employees for pride, outside of any Blizzard-sanctioned project, on their own backs, and THEN they decided to try to make it available to the public because they liked it and wanted to share it.It's not like this is something Blizzard has researched and developed and done a whole thing on. It's a smaller group of people who managed to convince a massive company to officially sell their passion project. *That* is impressive.(It IS overpriced, though, and the proceeds should go to an LGBT charity as suggested.)

Awesome. Same price as all their other hoodies. /shrug I'll grab one.
Rainbow Capitalism is a real issue here.Don't forget that there are other aspects that need to be equally demanded from companies, like: (1) pro-costumer practices, (2) healthy work schedules and (3) paid equality through the different work positions. Also, I agree that the merchandise feels low-effort. Specially because there are tons of LGBTQ+ characters and artwork that people could've liked to see in a shirt more than a bland corporate logo.
I think the game was better while it was bunch of faceless drones developing it. Today companies use their employees even outside of working hours to do promotions for them. Like, yes you work for Blizzard but does that have to define you as person. All these developers working PR for Blizzard in their off hours just feels exploitative to me. My company asked me if I would put their logo/name in descriptions on my social network pages and I told them they can *&^% the right off. They don't own me, seems to me Blizzard does own its developers.Removed
And yes, it's good that Blizz even employs trans people, albeit the bare minimum. But like, this move is rainbow capitalism and there's no way around it. Big corporations will big corporation, obviously, so I'm not even surprised. I do find it weird that some mods here are so deadset on defending Blizz wrt this topic, like why? Its like this meme where "weird internet nerds" defend Elon Musk of legitinate criticism. Big companies are not your friends.
I'm proud to be a World of Warcraft player
good for you.
