Don't worry, they're hiring 2k temps over the next 2 years.
Soon the art team won't be able to carry or pick up other department's slack. Blizzard definitely need to hire more people...perhaps they should relocate the main site to offer a higher pay grade in other areas. (we all know cali cost of living is through the roof)
Some of my favorite pieces of art! Sad to see him leave, but all the best to him and interested in what he does next!
lmao
Blizzard bleeding staff do death D:
So he's leaving a tencent funded company for another tencent funded company.Interesting...
I'm actually so hyped for dreamhaven etc. I've been a wow fan 2000% but I am also loosing my touch with this. Idk if it has anything to do with the Activision situation etc but I just feel that way ... It lost it's magic and feels more like a grey sad story
I know blizzard doesn't need to address that there's been leavers but if they happen to be aware of the fear or off-putting feeling it seems to be generating, and wildly different theories, speculation, concerns, questions, etc, among the players, maybe they should say something, to at least end the worries we all seem to have on various levels. It's probably nothing. the game makers who leave probably want to capture that feeling of indie one more time while they still can. The really strange thing is that these new companies have artwork made up for their image, but we don't really know if their image is reflective of them or how. They lead with the artwork so it must connect with their aesthetic but who knows. I say don't announce anything until you have something to show, it's not cute to reveal that you are revealing, for the sake of revealing. I guess the other strange thing is that they are announcing that they are announcing, I mean, announce when you have something, why should we be bothered in the mean time? trendy to announce that they're announcing, and trendy to reveal that they are revealing, yet there's nothing truly mentioned in either blab. If they want to generate awareness and excitement by an announcement/reveal, these companies rather fail/fall way short of that. I think it's rather dangerous and would caution -don't assume your future customers will like you just because you, following what most companies are 'trendily' doing (instead of setting yourselves a part from the boring crowd), talk about yourself. This kind of marketing/advertising where companies think they're movie teasers is getting old fashioned and too samey. You wanna amaze us, otherwise, you don't.Each new company/blizzard leaver announcement/reveal has felt heartless. The fact that none of them cared enough to wait until they had something passionate to show us other than a single quick image is disheartening. A truly passionate person would wait a bit, I think, so that their first mention of their announcement/reveal would have more weight, be more memorable, and reel us in/make us fans. So far these have all seemed lackluster -which is fine but it certainly does not entice, nor generate trust that they care about what they are saying or what they're doing. I'm not going to care just because you want me to. And it's not enough to splat your message/image/hopes and dreams because everyone is doing that, and they're all teh same - rather adversarial to prior experiences and standing for worldly isms that no game-company need to pretend to care about. Just make your game, let your message shine in your game, but keep your message to yourself -especially if you have nothing to back it up with yet.
There goes another one
It's "principal," not "principle."
Looking forward to Blizzard moving on to better art. Whoever led the sub-par work for the latest release had clearly checked out.
the art is what carries this game this guy leaving is a huge deal imo
He's behind some MoP arts Des' so he's obviously the best.Sad to see him go but also can't wait to see what's next about Lightforge Games !
ya till they sell out to activision again
Just because they had success with blizzard games doesnt mean their departure will doom blizzard. There's plenty of artists out there. But these guys will surely suffer.
I'm sorry, I don't see the big loss. Classic wasn't developed by any of the people that left, and the last few WoW expacs, and the retail game itself, have been hot garbage. Did these people save all their great ideas that they didn't implement in retail for the past decade, for this new studio? Are the horrific ideas they did get into retail now good for some reason? They're from Blizzard, people. Garbage in, garbage out.
