Zooming Out Creates "Performance Ramifications" - Blizzard Will Follow Up

One of the most requested features that players have been longing for has finally been acknowledged by Blizzard - but the response isn't as satisfying as many would have hoped.
Players have long requested the ability to zoom their camera out farther, allowing a better field of vision around them. Many Wanderers have met their end from an off-screen Corpse Bow that they just couldn't see because the default camera is so zoomed in, and really, no one likes an off-screen one-shot. In their latest Campfire Chat discussing Patch 1.1.1, Blizzard developers acknowledged the problem and request, but couldn't give a satisfying answer as to when this change - if ever - might be implemented.

Blizzard stated that there are "performance ramifications" to allowing players to zoom the camera out, but could not specify what those ramifications would be. Global Community Development Director Adam Fletcher clarified that hopefully in the future, the Campfire Chats could feature some engineers who would be able to speak on the subject, but for now stated that the request was heard and being discussed.
Players have found many locations throughout the world that already feature a further zoomed out camera angle, such as the dungeon from the Diablo 4 announcement cinematic, seen below. It's clear the technology exists for it, but much like the
revelation of stash tab limitations
, any fix will take time.
