Will Tibault's Will Be Fixed in Season 3? Rogue Bug Explained
Diablo IV

Diablo 4's second season, the Season of Blood, is now officially one month away from ending - which means soon we'll be hearing more about the new Season's theme, balance changes, additions, and more. While we know that Blizzard's stance for Season 2 was
"no plans for nerfs,"
Season 3 remains a question mark - will overperforming builds such as Ball Lightning Sorcerer and HotA Barbarian be nerfed, or will other builds be buffed to meet them? Will the more powerful Vampiric Powers return like Malignant Powers did? Rogues in particular have one burning question - will the bug with
Volontà di Tibault
be fixed, or will it become a standard part of the Rogue gameplay arsenal?
Not everyone knows of the bug related to
Volontà di Tibault
, specifically its Maximum Resource affix. While other Uniques have similar affixes, such as
Gelardente
with its Primary Resource affix,
Volontà di Tibault
is special in that, with it being a flat addition instead of a percentage, it is being added to
every
Rogue resource - even though it clearly shouldn't be.
Rogues, in addition to Energy as their main Resource, can choose a Specialization as their unique class mechanic. One of these Specialization options is
Combo Points
, which offer increased power and effectiveness to Core skills when expended. This buff isn't insignificant; for instance, with a skill such as
Tiro Rapido
, each Combo Point spent while casting the Skill increases the damage output
as well as
firing another arrow. With a cap of three Combo Points, that means
Tiro Rapido
can fire 8 arrows instead of 5, and each of those 8 arrows is stronger than they would be originally. Combo Points can easily turn already strong skills into absolute killing machines - which is why the
Volontà di Tibault
bug affects them so severely.
Currently,
Volontà di Tibault
treats not only Energy as the Rogue's Resource, but also includes Combo Points as a Resource for those Rogues who choose the Specialization - meaning that instead of a maximum of three Combo Points being the cap, players have reached absurd numbers, such as 16 or higher maximum Combo Points, each of which continues the scaling present when the cap was three. Combine this with
Condanna
, which has a chance to instantly generate Combo Points, and players quickly realized they were able to put out insane damage: not only was
Volontà di Tibault
raising the cap on Combo Points, but
Condanna
wasn't granting just three Combo Points on proc, it was completely filling the available Combo Points to maximum.

Clearly, this bug has persisted throughout Season 2 - but will it last forever? While it seems fairly obvious that this is an unintended interaction, it can't be denied that Rogue players have thoroughly enjoyed the mechanic. Any good ARPG wants players to feel that rush of power when they realize just how strong they've become, and one-shotting a World Boss can
certainly
provide that. However, where should the line be drawn?
While this is a bugged affix interaction, other classes are powerful enough with certain builds to absolutely decimate everything but the absolute top tier of enemies in the game. Most players have experienced a World Boss spawning, then a Necromancer essentially deleting them from existence within three seconds. This type of power is clearly in the game already, so what would it take to make this an intended mechanic?
Volontà di Tibault
isn't even a Rogue-specific Unique - could one be added that operates on the same principles without it being an unintended side effect? Other Unique items such as
Sigillo Corroso di X'fal
have been discovered to add incredible power to builds, which feels excellent, and one of the most common complaints about Diablo 4 among the playerbase currently is itemization. Is the solution really to nerf something players had a full season to enjoy, integrate into their builds, and get used to?
While we don't know for sure yet if
Volontà di Tibault
will be fixed, it does seem likely - the question, then, becomes whether we get something to replace that power spike or not.
What do you think of the
Volontà di Tibault
bug? Should this be added officially as a Rogue mechanic or Unique? Or is this just too much power for Rogues to handle? Let us know in the comments below!
