This past week, a new Classic Era Public Test Realm quietly went live. We had a chance to roam around and take a few screenshots, trying to figure out what Phase the realm was on. Now that the servers are offline, the community is speculating what this PTR could be testing.
Classic F R E S H
Now that the realms have gone offline, speculation is beginning to run rampant within the community. "Is Blizzard testing Classic FRESH?" is one of the most asked questions, and to be honest,
it isn't much of a surprise. Vanilla WoW, or Classic, is one of the greatest games ever made, with all of its flaws and
toxic min-maxing with World Buffs. But if Blizzard is testing Classic Fresh launch, what are they testing to change?
Back in June of this year,
Blizzard sent out a survey asking the community about potential Fresh and potential changes with the next launch of Classic. Things like Summoning Stones, higher difficulty bosses, higher debuff limit, a barbershop, faster XP, and
no world buffs. Blizzard went even further, asking about a Phase cadence for the next iteration of Classic, which is a really interesting question. Imagine two month long phases on a clean 1 year cycle, with more loot from raid bosses to compensate for a shorter phase.
