Continuing his month long
Warriors for Autism charity event
in support of the
Autistic Self-Advocacy Network
, DesMephisto is hosting the
March Across Azeroth
. Starting at around 11 AM PST on the Wyrmrest Accord (NA) server, the mental health advocate will be leading brand new level 1 characters on a march from the Forsaken starting zone of Deathknell through the Eastern Kingdoms, and on to Orgrimmar. There'll be giveaways and prizes throughout, so please join us in supporting a great cause and changing the way autism is viewed in the gaming community!
The Forsaken are a race that I've identified greatly with over the past 17 years, because it's a story which their mirrors my own as an autistic person. Like the Forsaken, we didn't ask to be born this way, but we too often often feel abandoned by society - ignored, dismissed, and spoken for, but not listened to. The Horde's coalition of unlikely allies reflects the type of acceptance those of us with autism have been searching for all our lives, and this March Across Azeroth is a symbolic journey; one small step representing our desire to be heard as equals.
The story of the Forsaken resonates with DesMephisto's own experience as an autistic person - displaced and misunderstood, familiar with feeling unwanted and unheard by those who don't understand their plight. Inspired by the annual Running of the Gnomes community event in support of Breast Cancer, the March Across Azeroth calls on the World of Warcraft community to stand in support of those with disabilities, to walk alongside each other as one and ensure no one is left behind. Although he'll be representing the Horde, Alliance players are just as welcome, and even EU players can join by creating
free starter accounts
on the NA server.
For the fourth year running, DesMephisto has led the charge for autism awareness, raising over $25,000 for the Autistic Self-Advocacy Network, a charity run by autistics for autistics with a clear motto: no conversation about us without us. Although this month has gotten off to a late start, it's still packed with entertaining streamed events, fantastic giveaways, and interesting challenges both in game and out - from completing Mythic+ dungeons and raids with a team full of Warriors, to enraging IRL with the
Lil Nitro
challenge! You can join in all the fun and action by following on

, all while raising thousands of dollars for charity in support of mental health organizations such as the
National Alliance on Mental Illness
,
Autistic Self-Advocacy Network
,

. While certainly not the only speed leveler in WoW, his dedication to streaming and frequent charity events have garnered a lot of attention on Reddit, Discord, and other online communities, including an
interview with PC Gamer
, and streaming
WoW for 36 hours
for inclusion in the Guinness Book of World Records. With the launch of Shadowlands, he was honored with
