Patch 4.2: New PvP Ground Mounts
We've posted about the ground mounts before, but Blizzard did an official preview and it's nice to see them in their actual environments. They look great and hopefully it's a step forward for mount design. Back in April, Ghostcrawler said it was hard to come up with new mount designs during their BlizzCast--we think this proves you don't have to do anything extremely fancy or inventive, sometimes adding more textures and details can be enough to create awesome new mount rewards!
In order to best accommodate players under the unique play style of Rated Battlegrounds, we’ll be offering all-new PvP ground mounts -- the
Cor du loup de guerre vicieux
(Horde) or
Rênes du palefroi de guerre vicieux
(Alliance) -- in a unique way. If you want to sit your knickers on these sweet new rides come patch 4.2, Rage of the Firelands, you must earn achievements for winning either 75, 150, or 300 Rated Battlegrounds. One account-bound mount will be awarded for each of these achievements earned, so if you win 300 Rated Battlegrounds with a character, you’ll be afforded the opportunity to give that character and two of your alts each a wolf or steed. Since these mounts are tied to

PvP Season 9 Ending as early as June 21st, Patch 4.2 Soon After
Blizzard just posted the speculative end date to season 9 for PvP as soon as June 21st. While this isn't set in stone, it points to patch 4.2 and season 10 within a week after this. As such, our bets are on the last week of June or possibly the first week of July for 4.2, but we'll see. It's most likely that Firelands will have some sort of gated content if this release is so soon as there has been no heroic testing thus far and no indication that such encounters will be doable on live. Several fights still have major bugs, too, even on normal 25-man. As someone who has tested every encounter, I can say that it doesn't feel as completed as it usually does.
At any rate, hopefully Firelands' gating is not one as painful as Sunwell's was, if it indeed has one.
Arena and Rated Battleground Season 9 is scheduled to end as early as June 21. At that point we will determine who is eligible for the end-of-season rewards, a process that should take approximately one week. It's very important for players who feel that they may be eligible for Arena titles and/or the Vicious Gladiator’s Twilight Drake to refrain from transferring their characters to anothe

Blizzard's Second Q+A Answered, UI Selected for Next Topic
Blizzard just posted their next set of answers to the
their second global Q+A session they held through the forums
recently. It's mostly a mixture of questions about balance, how PvP has changed from its earlier iterations, and what Blizzard is doing to address PvP in the future. Somehow there managed to not be that much complaining, all things considered!
Of course, there will be more of these sessions coming up in the near future. The topic of user interfaces is slated to be tackled next; starting at 4PM PDT today, Blizzard will field questions from NA players while
they are currently already taking
ones from EU players. We'll edit this post with a link when it goes alive.
Some of the topics of the questions they were asked include:
Death Match Battlegrounds
Will a PvP Guild Ever Progress the Same as a PvE Guild?
PvP Healing
The Value of CC in Cataclysm PvP
Hybrid Classes and Their Effectiveness

PTR Patch 4.1 Notes Updated (2/28)
The first batch of major updates to the PTR Patch 4.1 patch notes has been posted, including some
Démoniste
changes (finally!) as well as some
Guerrier
. In addition, this update also brings adjustments to the battlegrounds flag-carrying debuffs and an obnoxious nerf to
Druide
's
Fleur de vie
. Looks like more of those beloved PVP changes that end up screwing over players in PVE... oh well.
Update!
Apparently Blizzard snuck a few more changes in within the past half-hour, I've added these as well to the full update below so check 'em out! Also, I take back my complaining about the
Fleur de vie
change because with this latest update, they've added a very strange restoration
Druide
change:
Druide
-
(passive) also reduces
Tranquillité
's cooldown by 2.5/5 minutes.
I'm not sure where they're getting the 2.5/5 minutes, since
is passive and has no ranks, but if we're really going to get 3 minute
Tranquillité
after all these years then sign me up!
Other notable changes include:
Flying mounts can now be used in
Les terres Fantômes
.
Druide
