A little while ago we showcased Aleksandr Timoshenko's interpretation of
Thunder Bluff created in Unreal Engine
. If you liked that, check this out: Daniel L also works with Unreal Engine to create a spectacular lifelike vision of World of Warcraft zones. Daniel L has been recreating Azeroth for a few years now, and their latest video shows just how far they have come with this.
These zones were posted a while back
, but Daniel L has updated some of them with Nvidia RTX Ray-Tracing enabled on a RTX 2080 Ti. Ray tracing is a technique which renders an image by tracing the rays of light as pixels and how they interact with the 3D models. The result is incredibly realistic lighting effects, which, combined with the 3D models produced with Unreal Engine and Nvidia's graphics products that are designed for this kind of work, make for a breathtaking experience.

1:06 Goldshire (Lion's Pride Inn)
1:39 Duskwood
5:13 Grizzly Hills (Bonus!)
Check out some of Daniel L's previous work. These are not enhanced with RTX Ray-Tracing but still give you that feeling of actually being there. For your viewing pleasure here are a longer version of Stormwind City and a compilation which includes Grizzly Hills, Elwynn Forest, Duskwood, Westfall, and Durotar.
It really makes you think about what Blizzard might be able to do with WoW 2.0. Some day.
You can see more of Daniel L's zone videos, including some making-of videos, on their

Daniel L and Aleksandr Timoshenko are not, of course, the only folks doing amazing things with Unreal Engine. Check out some of these articles that we have published previously:
