Opulence is a raid boss in Dazar'alor. It might be an expansion old, but that doesn't stop it from being a perfect DPS challenge. If you skip the earlier part of the fight (battling the 2 golems on the side) the boss will gain a 200% health and damage boost after casting
Acopio de poder. This makes his damage challenging to deal with as well as having the HP needed to survive the onslaught of 5 players...
He's got quite interesting mechanics as well!
Lluvia de monedas is 70k damage, split on each target hit. The teams gotta soak this or at least have the person affected by it, use a large defensive.
Barrido de monedas does about 20-25k damage depending on armor, this along with 12-15k auto hits makes the boss quite threatening to the player tanking him.
Oro líquido is a debuff put on 2 players at a time, that ticks every 3 second for 6k damage. It adds up to quite a lot of damage!
Espíritus de oro is cast when the boss is halfway through his energy bar. It summons several adds that path towards the edge of the room to rain down gold on the players if not slain.
Lamento de codicia is a kind of berserk for most classes. It happens 65 seconds into the fight, and is a 10 sec channel that does increasing amounts of damage. The reason it wipes most teams is because players are unable to obtain the 90% damage reduction item you usually have.
During the time he is casting
Acopio de poder which is the first 5 seconds of the fight, the boss is vulnerable. Since he hasn't yet gotten the massive 200% HP boost, the % of damage he receives will stay the same after he finishes the cast. This will greatly reward players and classes that have early burst!
The rules are:
Almost everyone is 240+ ilvl, I had to bring in a few characters just under that cutoff. The reason is that finding people on Alliance these days, that are geared and want to participate is really difficult. Took me 4-5 days to gather 5 Rogues and Shamans at high gear levels that were able to attend. Hopefully Blizz will work on the faction imbalance some expansion soon.
A thing I didn't bring up in the video is the number of tries classes had. Every class had how ever many tries they wanted until someone had to go (that was at least 30 min after the start).
Every single class did at least 7 tries, but quite a lot did more than 10 attempts. The showcases in the video are their best attempts that got the boss down the most %.
I didn't expect any class to manage this boss. The goal with the challenge is simply to get the boss down as far as your class possibly can!
The reason it is heroic difficulty, is because the DMG of the boss is perfect, even if he has a lot of health!
