With the weekly reset on NA realms, players who have completed the
Human Heritage Questline
can find a small epilogue to the story!
If you head to Saldean's Farm in Westfall on a character that has completed the questline, you will see Westfall NPCs banding together and many of them have a new tag, Breadbasket Guild. Turns out the Breadbasket Guild is a new organization focused on helping the efforts with the poor in Westfall, spearheaded by the noble Cecilia Clessington! There are no quests in this epilogue, but we compiled NPC dialogue below.
Farmer Saldean
Farmer Saldean is the owner of Saldean's Farm, where the Breadbasket Guild is forming, and he talks about his attachment to Hope Saldean (Vanessa VanCleef's identity after she was adopted by the Saldeans), her growth, and the Defias Brotherhood.
> <Ask what's going on.>
<Farmer Saldean smiles.>
It seemed like a miracle. Our little girl, Hope... she came back to us. We thought she were gone forever.
We had a real long talk. She's made some mistakes. Vanessa VanCleef is a loaded name. Loaded with pain, that is. She wants to move forward from all that.
But me 'n Salma... well, we're just happy to see her again.
> <Ask what everyone is doing here.>
Farmers... Old Defias Brotherhood folks... good people displaced from war after war...
For years now, we've floundered about, just trying to survive. No more! We're going 'ta put our heads and our hands together and work these farms! The land is ready for the hoe once again, my friend!
And as the breadbasket of the Eastern Kingdoms, we won't let Stormwind deny us our rights. The House of Nobles can't stand in our way.
We'll do it right by my people this time. I swear it.
> <Ask about the Breadbasket Guild.>
The Breadbasket Guild is the early rise of something great.
Get it? Rise? Like... bread?
<Farmer Saldean chuckles and winks.>
Anyhow... This here is the movement that will do right by Westfall. We won't fall to the greed of the Defias.
Truth be told, I considered joinin' with them Defias a few times. It was just so hard to get by. But I just couldn't stand all the stealin' they did from my own neighbors! It just weren't right.
Me n' Salma always wanted better for us all. And now, we have a chance.
Miss Cecilia and Vanessa are helpin' us organize. Vanessa says she won't be an official member, and I get that. But I'm proud of that girl! Her ideas are some of the best we got!
Salma Saldean
Salma Saldean is responsible for making stew for the poor of Westfall. Dutiful as always, she talks about the future with the Breadbasket Guild.
> <Ask about the Breadbasket Guild.>
The Breadbasket Guild is just good people trying to do right by each other.
There's so many people here, we've needed to organize for a long time, now. Get people working the farms again. Get proper homes built for folks.
We've all been talking a lot about it lately. It's like the winds have changed direction.
We'll see if those winds carry all the way to Stormwind.
Come what may, I'll always be here for whoever needs a warm bowl of stew and a listening ear.
Vanessa VanCleef
Vanessa VanCleef is the former leader of the Defias Brotherhood. She participated in the Human Heritage questline by helping the investigation that uncovered the stolen Drakefire Amulet. She talks about her past with the Saldeans and the future of Westfall without the Defias. She also states she will not be formally joining the Breadbasket Guild due to being afraid that her past as a criminal might harm the guild by association, but she still wants to help fight the corruption among the Stormwind nobles.
I never thought I would come back here, to the place where I stewed in so much anger for so long, after my father was killed.
The Saldeans were kind to me. I never allowed the Defias to harm them, but I still betrayed them by having the Furlbrows killed. I only hope they can forgive me.
> <Ask about her name.>
I could not return to the name Hope Saldean. But I also could not ignore the girl I was as Hope any longer. Somewhere, I had left her behind.
My childhood with the Saldean, while filled with bitterness, was also filled with warmth. There were some days I thought I could go on as Hope... a simple farm girl, handing out soup...
But that is not the path for me. I still have work to do.
I won't hide from my past. Any part of it. The good and the bad.
I shall keep the name VanCleef, in defiance of my father's bloody legacy, but in honor of his original ideals.
And I will never stop fighting for the people of Westfall.
> <Ask what she's doing here.>
Talking. Planning.
Making amends.
Westfall is heading in a new direction. Ex-Defias, long-displaced folks, and the farmers of Westfall are banding together to form the Breadbasket Guild.
Cecilia, as Countess, makes it official. Soon, we'll hold a vote to decide who should be at the helm.
<Vanessa smiles fondly.>
Everyone knows the Saldeans will win. They've done so much for everyone.
> What about you?
<Vanessa laughs.>
Me? I'm still a criminal, remember? If I joined the Breadbasket Guild, much less led them, I would only discredit them.
Listen, there's no doubt in my mind that the House of Nobles will try to put a stop to the guild. Count Clessington was evidence enough that there are still many who are only in it for power. Where there is power, there is always corruption.
In public, they'll be all smiles and nods, but then they will send daggers in the dark.
When their agents come for the Guild from the shadows, that's where they'll find me.
Cecilia Clessington
We meet Cecilia Clessington during the Human Heritage questline - She is the daughter of the late Count Clessington, who's killed during the questline due to him being corrupted by the stolen Drakefire Amulet. Since then, Cecilia has taken the title of Countess of House Clessington and is helping the Breadbasket Guild by serving as a noble liaison, hoping to bargain with Stormwind for support from a position of power.
Oh! How wonderful to see you again, my friend!
Help yourself to some stew! I helped make the latest batch, though I think Salma was not impressed with my cooking skills.
> <Ask what she's doing there.>
Vanessa and I have been talking a lot with the people here. In order to revitalize Westfall, we need to band together.
But not like the Defias Brotherhood. We need a clean slate.
So, the farmers and workers of Westfall are forming the Breadbasket Guild. As an official organization with the support of a noble --myself-- we'll be able to bargain with Stormwind for support, from a place of power.
Some leadership in Stormwind is already receptive to the idea. But there are still so many in the House of Nobles who think like my father. And they're the sneakiest ones... the ones too smart to get caught out on corruption charges.
> <Ask about her title.>
Yes, I took my father's title.
I wanted to leave. To dissolve my house and use what little assets remained to help rebuild something here in Westfall.
But Vanessa and I talked about it for a long time. I can do more good by entering the House of Nobles.
The House needs change and it starts here. It starts with the people. With their voices joined together loud enough to be heard behind the locked doors of the House. It can only help to already have my voice echoing them, inside.
So that's what I will fight for in the House. Not a House of Nobles, but a House of the People.
I'm certain this won't be met favorably by most other nobles. Not yet. But a few of the younger ones, like Joran here, have already started to listen.
Lord Joran Tremaind
Lord Joran Tremaind is a Stormwind noble, and his house once had farmland in Westfall. Tremaind caught wind of Cecilia's plans with Westfall and the Breadbasket Guild and is intrigued by it.
> <Ask who he is.>
I am Joran, of House Tremaind. My family currently deals in lumber in Eastvale, but once we had a hand in the farmlands here in Westfall.
As I'm starting to take over more of my parents' duties as a noble, I heard Cecilia talking about her House of the People idea. I think it's intriguing! My family never would have gotten far in Eastvale without the help of the good people there.
I want to see it happen. And I think here, in Westfall... this is where it begins.
Bonus: Eat Some Stew
In addition to the NPCs talking about story progression, you can interact with the bowl of stew by the table next to Cecilia, and join them in
喝汤
! This is a cosmetic effect that should be neat for players wanting to roleplay in Saldean's house.
