Last month,
we highlighted Not Even Close
, a new community tool designed to help players plan survivability cooldowns in higher level Mythic+ content. Today, we're showcasing a similar have a similar tool with the
Effective Health weak aura by Heartline
!
Unlike the web-based tool, the Effective Health weak aura works in-game and in real time, displaying the player's current effective health against Physical and Magical attacks, alongside their expected health after deadly Mythic+ dungeon attacks land.
Note
: As a fan made work, we cannot guarantee this weak aura necessarily tracks all damage reductions or calculates them correctly. If you notice any issues, please reach out to Heartline on Discord or through the wago page for correction.

Naturally, each of these tools has its own pros and cons.
Not Even Close is preemptive
, allowing players to figure out whether or not the content is survivable before starting the key, it doesn't do anything to assist completion once actually inside.
The Effective Health weak aura works in real time
, updating dynamically based on your current health and active defensive abilities to warn players of notify players how well they will survive.
In a perfectly planned and coordinated group, this might seem unnecessary - if Not Even Close already told you that you need to use Die by the Sword to survive Earthshattering Roar in +30 Darkheart Thicket, the weak aura isn't necessarily telling you anything new. However, that doesn't take into account what
else
is going on in the dungeon. Perhaps you stood in a puddle and your health is no longer topped off, or you were targeted with several abilities back to back, or you simply weren't paying enough attention to when the deadly mechanic was coming out and who it was targeting. These are all situations where the weak aura's dynamic nature will alert you that bad things are about to happen, so you may need to rethink and react quickly in order to survive.
This is great to know ahead of time, but what happens when everything
doesn't
go completely according to plan?
These differences may also affect the target audience. While both tools can be used in together, Not Even Close is geared toward players pushing very high key levels, but not overly important for +10, +15, or even +20 keys where one-shots are much less common. By contrast, the Effective Health weak aura can be useful at virtually all key levels - just because an ability won't one-shot you doesn't mean you'll always be at full health and even a seemingly easy dungeon can turn deadly after a few things go wrong.
Ultimately, both are great community made tools meant to help players succeed in whatever content they choose to engage with and can be used either individually or together to great effect. While no single tool may be perfect and surprises still happen, the availability of increased information can help inform players, helping them better prepare and react to similar situations the next time around. At the very least, healers will thank you for using your defensives more effectively, or at all!
