Welcome to Wowhead's DPS Hunter Classic Addon Guide, updated for WoW Classic. In this guide, we will go over the best Hunter addons, important tools to improve a players' view of the World, highlighting important Hunter information and displaying it clearly.
Addons are powerful tools that can be used to both customize your gameplay experience, ranging from graphical overlays, replacement action bars, and unit/raid frames, to performance enhancements such as rotation helping spell reminders, buff/debuff tracking, popup reminders, and boss warnings. Here are some of the highly recommended and commonly used DPS Hunter addons, which are certainly not required to play, but can go a long way toward increasing the information available to you in combat or simply make for a more pleasant viewing experience.
Unlike Macros, managing Addons is done outside of the game, but our How to Install and Maintain Addons Guide will take you step-by-step through the process.
Our Hunter guides are always updated with the latest information from in-game experience, theorycrafting, and logs; make sure to check our changelog to this page, by clicking on

Weapon Swing Timer
This add-on is, without a doubt, an absolute requirement to play a Hunter effectively in Classic WoW. It will show you how long you have left before your next
自动射击
which allows you time your bursts and other DPS abilities to avoid clipping your Auto-Shots and losing damage.
Leatrix(Lazy Pig)
Leatrix is an add-on that provides all sorts of quality of life changes like being able to press shift and vendor all of your grey items. Or being able to dismount by pressing an ability which is quite helpful in PvP and just better for general use. Pressing your mount every time you want to dismount gets very annoying.
OmniCC
This puts a number over your abilities for the number of seconds left on the cool-down. This allows you to precisely tell when your abilities are coming up easily so you can line your combos such as Scatter Shot-Freezing Trap.
ClassicAuraDurations
This addon shows the remaining time on Buffs/Debuffs similar to how they work on modern WoW, instead of a square just showing the Buff with no timer or duration indication. This also works in combo with OmniCC.
User Interface
Dominos Classic
- A main action bar replacement
Classic Castbars
- A customizable cast bar replacement
Other Hunter DPS Addons
Below is a list of other useful addons. While, not Hunter DPS specific, those addons provide a boost to your general quality of life experience in WoW Classic.
User-interfaces are often forgotten about, but they represent a vital role in your journey in WoW Classic. A good user interface provides its user with all the required information in every step of the way, making every task in the game easier, helping the player to achieve their full potential.
The Wowhead Client
Wowhead Client
- Your most important addon. Help build the Wowhead database by automatically recording your drops and game information, increasing accuracy and reliability of your favorite World of Warcraft website!
User Interface
Covers everything from Action Bars, Unit Frames, Buffs and Debuffs, Nameplates, Bags, and more. These addons enhance, rearrange, or otherwise customize the User Interface - what you see and interact with while playing the game. Keep in mind this is just a sample suggestion, as there are several similar versions of each of these types of addons available.
ArkInventory Classic
- A configurable bag addon which allows you to sort, categorize, filter, and manage your inventory according to your own desires.
Bagnon
- Another bag addon which helps manage your inventory, as well as keep track of your inventory on other characters and banks, great for keeping track of your crafting mats. The Retail version is also setup to work for Classic, using the same version for both.
Bartender4
- A customizable action bar, allowing you to hide the Blizzard art, separate, or completely hide the bag bar, micro menu, xp bar, and your regular action bars for binding buttons. Contains a wide variety of functionality, such as hiding bars until they're moused over or the player goes into combat, great for keybinding spells you don't necessarily need to see, and keeping your UI clean.
ClassicSpellActivations
- Adds a highlight for spells that have special activation requirements.
ClassicAuraDurations
- Adds a duration clock to your
debuffs, feature not present in Classic. Works really well with
OmniCC
.
Masque (Classic)
- Simple button reskinning which supports a variety of styles. Doesn't add anything in the way of gameplay or information, it just looks pretty!
NeatPlates
- A Tidyplate-like nameplate addon with a variety of preset and customization options, including debuff tracking, color coding based on hostility or threat, and more. Ensure you download the
Classic version from the Files
section, rather than the Retail version.
SimpleMap
- Small and straightforward addon which reduces the size of the world map and removes the black background, allowing you to see the map without blocking out the rest of your screen, with an optional fader while moving.
Pitbull Unit Frames 4.0
- A powerful and highly customizable unit frame addon, which allows you to rearrange, hide, or otherwise personalize your unit frames.
Shadowed Unit Frames
- Another customizable unit frame addon, similar to Pitbull. Ensure you download the
Classic version from the Files
section rather than the Retail version!
Tukui
- An extensive premade all-in-one UI which combines the elements of several of the addons above. Great for players who don't want to set up their own UI, but makes a
lot
of changes, which can be a pain to undo if it's not to your liking, so make sure you know what you're getting into before installing!
Combat and Information
Similar to the UI section, these addons add information, rather than simply customization, which can help give you an edge in combat
Classic Cast Bars
- Adds target cast bars, so you can tell what an enemy is casting and when in order to make interrupting the correct spell easier.
ClassicThreatMeter
- An invaluable addon for all players, but especially Tanks and DPS, showing player's relative threat values, letting you know who is close to taking aggro. Managing threat can be an important part of Classic combat, and it's important that every player in the group or raid use this addon in order to track their threat! A must for any serious endgame dungeon or raid groups.
Details! Damage Meter Classic
- A lightweight robust damage meter.
OmniCC
- This is a simple, yet remarkably useful addon to have, regardless of what you're doing in the game. This adds a simple timer over your cooldown abilities. That lets you know precisely when they're going to come back up, so you know when you can use them again, or line up major abilities with cooldowns as necessary.
MikScrollingBattleText Classic
- Customize and move the default damage numbers, along with support for incoming healing, and other information Highly recommended to spend some time setting up, as the "out of the box" settings can display extra information which may be unnecessary for many players.
WeakAuras2 Classic
- Robust interface addon that allows the player to create auras to track different aspects of the game.
Wago.io
has a separate section for Classic, so you can see what auras have already been made and shared by others.
Dungeon and Raids
AtlasLootClassic
- Addon to check all loot tables from the game. Useful as Classic does not have a Dungeon Journal like retail.
BigWigs Classic
- Adds timers and warnings for boss mechanics.
Deadly Boss Mods - Classic
- Adds timers and warnings for boss mechanics.
Questing
These addons will make your questing experience easier, helping you keep track of, find, and complete appropriate level quests.
Classic Quest Log for Classic
- Despite the awkward name, an invaluable addon which restores the two-pane quest log, allowing you to see all of your quests on the left, and the currently selected quest information on the right, for much easier navigation of the quest log.
Azeroth Auto Pilot
- A Speed leveling addon which automates several parts of the questing experience, and directs you where to go based on your level. As with many automated addons, it can be quirky at some times, taking you on an otherwise questionable route, but good for players who want to move through the leveling experience as fast as possible.
Classic Codex
- A mix between Azeroth Auto Pilot and Questie, showing available quests and quest mobs on the map, with several customizable options for auto quest accept/turn-in, and various filter options.
Questie
- Quest helper, which marks the location of quest givers, drop locations, and turn ins on the map and minimap, filtered for your level range. Unlike other addons, there is no automation, so you still choose where to go, what to pick up, and how to do it, but helps inform the player and makes the experience a little smoother.
Quest Frame Fixer
- A simple addon which correctly shows ? and ! icons in quest giver dialogue.
Quest Icon Desaturation
- Another simple addon which correctly turns quest giver dialogue markers grey for uncompleted quests. Pairs well with Quest Frame Fixer.
Quality of Life
Advanced Interface Options
- Exposes all interface options hidden by Blizzard. Also includes a useful cvar explorer, perfect for players that like to tweak their WoW Client.
ItemTooltipProfessionIcons
- Adds a small icon to item tooltips, indicating whether they're used for a profession or quest. Compact and non-invasive, although unfortunately does not tell you what quest the item is used for or if you have completed it yet. Good for knowing what items you can safely vendor, and which you might want to hold onto, or look up on Wowhead to see what they're used for!
Leatrix
- A highly customizable quality of life addon meant to enhance the default user interface. You can do things like automatically sell gray-quality vendor trash, automatically release after death, auto accept pending resurrections, and select, accept and turn-in quests without having to click through in-game prompts or menus manually.
MapCoords Classic
- Adds coordinates both to your map and minimap, allowing you to easily check your current and relative position.
Peace and Quiet
- Automatically disables the General and Local Defense channels when you enter a PvP instance, dungeon, or raid, then re-enables them when you leave.
Peggle Classic
- Arguably the most important addon, allows you to play Peggle on flight paths, when haggling over loot, while waiting for a rez, or whenever you want. You can even challenge your friends!
Vendor Price
- Shows the selling price of an item on the game's tooltip for that item.
How to Install Addons in WoW Classic
Installing addons in Classic follows the same flow as installing one manually in retail WoW. First, you must download the addon from
WoWInterface
or other Addon repositories. Then, you need to extract the addon in your Classic WoW folder, which will look something like this:
C:\World of Warcraft\_classic_\Interface\AddOns
Note that the interface folder won't exist if you haven't opened the Classic client in your computer yet.
If successful, a new button will appear when you reach the character screen, that is used to list all addons installed.

Best PvP Addons
Best PvP Combat UI Improvement Addon
OmniBar
OmniBar lets you monitor enemy cooldowns by class. You can decide which spells to monitor and which to ignore; for example, monitoring such spells as
心灵尖啸
,
凿击
, or
圣佑术
may be useful, but you may not care about tracking cooldowns for
鬼魅攻击
,
寒冰屏障
, or
急速射击
. The spell is highly configurable, with many ways to set up the appearance, size, and position of these cues, and a test mode for getting it all to your satisfaction.
PvP Honor Tracking Classic Addons
There are many, many addons for tracking honor, kill numbers, killing blows, dishonorable kills, and estimating rank. How much you want to track and how much you want to get into this will likely dictate which of these three mods you choose to install. You can, of course, have multiple mods installed as each offers slightly different displays and functionality.
Best Honor Tracking With Added Features
HonorAssist
HonorAssist displays the same information that many other PvP trackers do: daily kills, killing blows, killstreaks, estimated honor, and histories of PvP encounters. You can use /honorassist show to display a daily tally of your PvP exploits. Unlike many other basic trackers, HonorAssist also adds improvements such as honor information added to nameplates and tooltips.
The nameplates and tooltips display estimated honor for killing a particular enemy, based on their perceived rank and taking diminishing returns into account. It also sends messages to your chat window when you've made a kill, which includes their rank and estimated honor return. This can be very helpful in situations where you are specifically farming honor, such as in world PvP.
Best Shared Honor Information
HonorSpy
This is the gold standard PvP honor tracking system for those who really enjoy the hardcore analysis. Not only does it do what the other mods do -- track your own basic PvP and honor information, calculate diminishing returns, etc. -- but it also collects data from other players. You occasionally share HonorSpy database information with other HonorSpy users in your party, raid, battleground, and guild syncing when you die (I probably sync my database a LOT this way!), and you will get a similar broadcast from other players when they die. You can also get information about other players' PvP status by mousing over or targeting those players, which is a good thing to do while you're waiting in queue near the battlemasters.
HonorSpy only exports and saves information about players with more than 15,000 honor.
Not only that, you can then export your HonorSpy information as a .CSV file, which you can copy/paste into Google Docs or open in a spreadsheet program such as Microsoft Excel.
Battleground Timer Addons
SSPVP
SSPVP gives you an on-screen display of timed battleground events. Even before every battleground, it gives a visual display on your screen of how long you have spent in queue.
In Warsong Gulch, it will track the times when a flag carrier has picked up the flag and how long the flag has been in enemy possession. In Alterac Valley, it gives the cap timers for all graveyards and towers, so you can see how long you need to keep active defense going on an area before the graveyard flips or the tower is destroyed.
SSPVP adds a few more options, such as auto-releasing your corpse. It also allows you to auto-leave a battleground after a specified amount of time (default is 10 seconds) and will save a screenshot of the final scoreboard.
Assorted Useful PvP Addons
LoseControl
LoseControl places an icon in the middle of your screen to tell you what effect has caused you to lose control of your character. This can be helpful if you have a class or racial ability or a trinket that can get you out of certain situations and need to decide quickly what might help you out. For example,
被遗忘者的意志
can get an Undead character out of Charm, Fear, or Sleep, but can't remove a spell like
沉默
, so it's a waste to use that ability.
SaySapped
This super-simple addon does just what it says it does: if you're sapped, it sends a /say to warn those around you that you've been sapped, and thus a rogue is in the area (if sapping you didn't reveal the rogue's presence; Subtlety Rogues with the Improved Sap ability have a chance to return immediately to stealth mode after a successful Sap). This can be helpful if you are defending a flag, node, or graveyard and have others around you.
Most Controversial (And Possibly Most Useful) PvP Addon
Spy Classic
Spy Scans for enemy players and announces when they are detected, along with their class, race, and level, as far as it is able to detect. You can opt for visual and audio alerts when you detect new characters close to you. When a player has been placed on the Nearby list, it will also list that enemy's details, including their last known location and time seen. This includes stealthed players who have been detected nearby.
In addition, you can set up both Ignore and Kill on Sight lists, for characters you might have a special reason to disregard or to hunt out specifically. There are also detailed histories and statistics on previously encountered enemy players.
Why is Spy Classic controversial?
First, it's incredibly powerful, with a very long detection range. It's great for Battlegrounds because you can see the players who are close to you and determine without having to mouse over which ones might be good targets -- ie. pick out the possible healers or other immediate threats.
Second, Spy did not exist in Classic, nor did any mod quite like it. Some consider it cheating, particularly the part about being able to detect stealthed characters, reducing the effectiveness of a major benefit of playing a rogue or druid. Generally, the ability to detect stealthed characters at any distance has been limited to hunters using
追踪隐藏生物
, or to higher-level players being able to detect lower-level players (stealth detection is based partly on level), or to using items such as the
猫眼超级护目镜
or
血藤透镜
, both of which raise your effective level in terms of stealth detection.
However, as long as the functionality remains, anyone serious about PvP will be using it.
