Walk over the skeletons on the ground, a Tormented Tomb-Robber spawns, you kill it, you get a chance at the piece of rope quest item.

Don't be a dummy and fly around for 30 minutes, like I did, looking for skeletons. Walk on the ground on your mount, and look for skeletons that are lying dead in the corner. The skeletons you need to kill will only spawn if you are near them.

On a side note, why doesn't Jones have rope? Why do you need to go get it?

When you hand them back to Harrison, who gives you no further clue as to what to do next, you will be forgiven for getting confused. There's a corpse to the... south-east corner? of the room that will start Schnottz Scout.

And if somehow you can't turn this in due to bad phasing, relog. /reload UI doesn't work here. Harrison Jones will then reappear.

For those who don't know, "Be Prepared" is the Scout Motto. Fitting that a quest about coming prepared on an adventure should reference Scouting.

I believe this could be a reference to the scene from Boondock Saints, one of the greatest movies, where they bicker about rope.

"You know what we need? some rope!"
"That's stupid. Name one thing you would need a rope for."
"You don't @%*%ing know what you're gonna need it for, you just always need it."
"Alright, get you're stupid rope."
"I'll get my stupid rope...I'll get it. " *grabs rope from wall* "That's a rope right there!"

You pick this up from a corpse in the SW side of the temple.

i believe the title of this quest is a reference to the song 'Be Prepared' in Disney's Lion King. could be wrong...

There are actually three ways to Be Prepared.

1) If you accept this quest from the Decrepit Skeleton, you start out with a Piece of Rope, and when you walk over a ground skeleton, the Tormented Tomb-Robber that rises up will drop an additional Piece of Rope, of which you need 6.

2) If you have not yet taken this quest, and you walk over a skeleton, the Tormented Tomb-Robber that rises up will drop the seemingly similar but actually different Piece of Rope, which can also begin the quest. When you accept, there is no longer a need to "talk" to the Decrepit Skeleton (you can't even target him), and the quest-giving-rope becomes the normal one...of which you need 6.

I assume (but cannot confirm) that you need to have at least begun The Thrill of Discovery, if not completed it (as I had), for all of this to happen.

3) If, before either of these things happens, you complete Lessons From the Past from the other fork of the quest chain, a third preparedness-being-rope-collection-option opens up. Once you turn in, leave Harrison Jones, and then return he will offer the substantially similar Be Prepared. They're really afraid you'll miss it and won't be able proceed with the chain, or maybe they just really really need rope.
