When you take an egg, you aggro the , formerly unreachable, which will descend and then attack you. While killing her is not necessary for this quest, it can be difficult for some classes to get away/down quickly enough to outrun her (tried and she followed me until I was nearly at the Furnace again) so just killing her instead may prove to be the less stressy or quicker way. Large health pool, but she doesn't melee hard, blow your cooldowns, interrupt her Orbe de Fogo (about 25k) if you can.

If you have trouble figuring out how to get to the top, look for the red swirly areas. Use them to jump to the next level.

If you're having trouble soloing the Fire Hawk Matriarch, consider doing this daily last and simply dive-bombing off the floating island near the platforms on your way back.

Falling off the platforms does NOT kill you, as you might expect. Instead, you fall a short distance and are then rescued by a druid. This evades normal mobs, and should evade the Matriarch as well*. You will be dropped off in a spot that's only a short run away from a single, large platform that you can use to jump back to the questgivers quickly.

Also note that this trick works both ways. If you jump off one of the platforms on the way to the island with mobs, it's a nice shortcut for getting to the mobs and skipping the whole "World of Warcraft: Platformer Edition" routine.

(*I've only tested this on normal mobs, due to the fact that the Matriarch was killed before I got to the egg the one day that I've had this quest. Once I confirm/deny that it works for elites, I'll edit this post.)

The dailies on Fireplume Peak can all be made comparatively trivial by obtaining the Convalescence of Winds buff.

To get this buff, simply jump at the final little floating platform (the ones right in front of the quest givers) that has a thermal vent. It only lasts 2 minutes, but that should be all you need.

Do the quest last. If the quest is completed and still in your log, then the hawk will attack again as you run anywhere near the top for other quests. Very annoying.

After you loot the egg, you will carry it on your back, looks awesome :-)

for some reason as a warlock i cant get the matriarch to aggro on my pet, i even take aggro from´other players battling her when i stand still, i guess she dont like me...

there is a jet stream at the end when your running back to the druids with the egg. You can jump on it to make it back to them safely. I ran back, running away from the mobs that would aggro me, I fell at my first attempt from jumping off the stream but a druid got me and flew me back up to where I fell. I was able to make the second jump and made it to the druids.

[These fire hawks are beings of fire, but they exhibit much of the same behavior that we've seen in birds back home. It makes me wonder from where they originate.

Back to the point - I think we might be able to train them. Domesticate them if you will. Use them against our enemies.
