The Leyara quest is still bugged as of PTR build 14040 from tonight. If the devs don't have the content after Leyara ready, they should tell us instead of having us run against a wall!

This appears to be fixed as of 5/12/2011 at 2:45 pm. the quest gives credit when started even if it does not complete properly.

According to the dungeon journal, Hamuul helps on the Heroic Ragnaros encounter, so he bounces back somehow!

So I've currently spent 40mins trying yo do this quest.
WBSH are camping Leyara. Got a Druid with them pushing people off the cliff.

Honestly Blizz, did you not see this was gonna happen?

And when you do rez and fly back the quest is bugged. Leyara is no longer visible. So abandon quest, fly back to pick it up again, fly back to Leyara, get shoved off cliff and repeat. Funsies.

And about thirty seconds worth of looking into the character himself would reveal a lot more than what you've just begun to assume.

The expansion isn't about Thrall and Malfurion. While they may play a part in it, the expansion is about Deathwing and his rampage on Azeroth and the effects of it. Just because Malfurion appeared again at this time doesn't mean he's the star of the show, nor does Thrall's decision to take his place as the World-Shaman make him the King Bee.

When it comes to Hamuul Runetotem, there's plenty that puts him on the same ground as everyone else:

* He's the Arch Druid of Thunder Bluff, and a leader of his people.
* He is the highest ranked Tauren in the previously Night Elf dominant Cenarion Circle, and is formally recognized as the first Tauren druid in nearly twenty generations.
* He is a student of Malfurion, having sought him out himself and befriended him.
* He is a member of the New Council of Tirisfal, standing in as the druid representative after it was deemed necessary to have a practitioner of other arts, with Malygos hampering the arcane.
* He discovered the World Tree was going insane, and it is he who discovers Fandral's duplicity.
* He remained in the waking world to protect the others, including Malfurion, in their battle against the Emerald Nightmare, defending them against the nightmare apparitions that appear.

That alone is enough to see why Malfurion regards him as an equal, but I'm going to press the point a little harder. As much as you want to venerate Malfurion, it's only fair to remember some other small, but important, things.

Malfurion did not bring Archimonde to his knees. He blew a horn that called on the the very spirits of the night elves to destroy the demon. If anything brought Archimonde down, it was the very will and strength of nature. Malfurion only called on it, and he would not have had the time to do so if Archimonde had not been stalled by countless other people, most of whom have juuust about as much screentime as Hamuul.

And while we're on the topic of Malfurion and all of that? When have you ever known Malfurion to be a spot-light hogging, high and mighty, xenophobic jerk who can't treat others as is their due? He owes his life to Hamuul in some ways, and knows the Tauren is a respected ally and friend.

my felguard was able to do a ~150k damage before the druid could escape

maybe in 5 (if this is not solo-phased) with the doomguards too.....

When Fandral Staghelm gathered many druids to Teldrassil after the Lich King's defeat to unfold a master plan that would heal the tree, Hamuul Runetotem was one of those. Considering Fandral is a known Night Elf supremacist and believes that only Night Elves are the true druids? That speaks volumes.

Considering that it was Fandral Staghelm (urged by Xavius with an illusion of Fandral's dead son) keeping Malfurion in the Emerald Nightmare via the Morrowgrain we players kept bringing him, the discovery of that duplicity actually is on par with a grand trap. Especially when you consider that Runetotem failing on the waking world would have been a bad thing, given that destroying a sleeping druid's body is pretty much killing them, and when failure on either part (which very nearly happened anyway) would have meant the entire world plunged into a realm of Nightmare? Yeah, I do put Runetotem's efforts right up there with Malfurion.

You can argue that Hamuul isn't the counterpart to Malfurion, but he is by the very definition of the word. You do not gain the title of Archdruid by being a nobody. You gain it by being one of the wisest and the most powerful of the druids.

You do not get to be a nobody, and assist the very one who trained Malfurion himself, in fighting back someone attempting to destroy the world. When Cenarius calls you by name, you answer.

If you are personally trained by the very first druid, you are not some little nobody who doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. You are a BAMF.

While there might be many Night Elf druids who rank higher than he in the Cenarion Circle, they are clearly not as important as Hamuul himself is just because they haven't been named. Which, might I add, was your defense for Hamuul not being important. Bringing in Blizzard's view is pointless, since they've pretty much named Runetotem as a BAMF, and one who deserves just as much recognition as the lead BAMF himself.

Just because Runetotem's major accomplishments happen off-game (which, anyone who reads Knaak's novels and the comics would know) doesn't make him any less important than those we've had wiggled in front of our faces for years while Warcraft has been released.

You did call him unimportant. You did call him a nobody. The only reason I'm posting any of this is to point out that he is and has been a critical figure among the Circle and in lore itself.

Once again: When has Malfurion ever shown himself to be someone who will not give credit where it is due, and will not treat others with respect and humility? Hamuul speaking to him as an equal is completely normal. They may be teacher and student, but they are also friends. They are friends, standing together facing a threat that has the capability of shattering the world they know and love. You can speak with someone you admire and learn from without groveling at their feet.

Malfurion and Thrall are both tired of being the lead BAMF's (for the 'good guys') in lore. They want to settle down and live their lives. They want to love, have children, foster peace with their enemies. So what if they share a bit of the weight of the world with others who are willing to help?

Anyone else kinda pissed you got blamed for Hamuul dying? He's the one that randomly shows up, yet I somehow am at fault for everything deviating from plan?

There's not much to do in this quest except to watch.
Go to Leyara @ 6.8, 33.9 and trigger a discussion. She will root you, after which the Arch Druid shows up and she kills him. Once he's dead, you return to Matoclaw (27, 62.6) and turn the quest in.

A Druid of the Flame has been spotted in the ruins to the northwest. I suspect it is the same one that attacked us at the portal several days ago.

When the Molten Front was first released, the initial Sanctuary quests did not reward as many Mark of the World Tree as they do now (the rewards were boosted a week or so after release). So at the time this was written, it did take a few days of dailies to unlock this quest.

When you do this quest make sure you stand still because I was moving around and I jumped right when she rooted me and I went right over the edge and had to take rez sickness.

Important.

Before you do this quest, get equipped with anything that could break a fall. Slow Fall, Levitation, engineer parachutes, bubble, Sha'tari Skyguard will do.

You gotta trust me on this one.

It is a common pastime for druids and shamans to camp this point and, once your two-minute stun ends, immediately knock you down the mountain - if you die from the fall, you will have to rez up at spirit healer due to your corpse being unaccessible afterwards

Arch Druid Hamuul, at 17 million hit points, is downed in seconds by a Druid of the Flame possessing 770,000 hit points.

My druid wishes to apply for a position with the Druids of the Flame.

Poor Hamuul needs to learn to shift when rooted, or at least get some fire resist when facing a minion of Ragnaros. :(
But fear not, because our hero Hamuul heals and is eventually revived in the near future.

What kinda irked me as well is how he called out in fear.I would have thought that the Arch Druid of Thunder bluff, should he meet his inevitable demise at the hands of an enemy would do so courageously.I mean think of how traumatized my lowly character would be irl seeing such a major lore character die in front of him in fear and anguish!

If you abandon the quest, you will have to logout in order to it appear again.

Also, I could PvP-trinket the roots away in last seconds, any of you guys know if she can be killed if you do this quest in group and cancel the roots (with the help of pets, maybe)?
