A relatively speedy quest. Collecting the venison gets a bit tedious because of the doe running around and keeping you in combat. With my hunter, I just sting them and focus on the elk. The doe do not drop the quest items from what I've seen, and cannot be skinned. You don't need to worry about looting them. At all.

The doe do drop the Venison however if you are AUTO-looting I found out that you must use your loot key (in my case and in default case - shift) to pick the venison off of them. Also, the venison's drop chance is alot smaller from doe compared to the elk, but the quest is sped up when you kill both.

Drop rates suck. If you attack an elk, then the doe will run really far away while keeping you in combat. Have fun chasing that doe while it's Z-kiting you up some mountains...just so you can get out of combat to kill more elks.

The designers of this and "Something Bold" need shot. Ridiculous drop rates and have to travel all over the mountain to hopefully find a target - and that it isn't already being killed by another player. Sadly, we have to do this chain as it leads up to the Wildhammer dailies.

I can confirm that the doe do drop the item. The easiest place to do this is Highland Forest, between the Dunwald Ruins and the Obsidian Forest. Completed in ~10 minutes.
