As of today, when you turn in the quest you lose the rod. As I already have this item on a couple of alts pre 4.0.3a I wasnt to disapointed when I lost the rod after turning in the quest.500 rep with Darn isnt to hard to take either.

Those that had the old rod, Dartol's Rod of Transformation, will not lose it after completing this chain. The new rod, Dartol's Rod, is lost.

There is also a new furbolg transformation available for those with Timbermaw exalted, even for horde: Stave of Fur and Claw

Just FYI - Completing this quest while transformed into a Furbolg leaves you as a Furbolg. Kinda neat - but I'm sure it breaks as normal.

After speaking to Ota Wan, you turn this in to Raene Wolfrunner at Astranaar.

I was sad, though, that the uprising fizzled. All the furbolgs were killed by the Horde. I was hoping the Horde would be routed from Silverwind Refuge, that this would be a phased quest like the ones in Astranaar.

Weird that this quest is lvl req 19 when the prequest is lvl 21.. noticed that when i was trying to get the Leather wrist too my hunter twink.. disapointed.. sorry fore bad grammar, but this is not obbtainable at Lvl 19.

Did the EXACT same thing. The bracers said level 19 so i just spent the last three hours running around and saving that dudes daughter to come up dry. Guess i'll have to find +hit elsewhere :/

Im curious how come i go over to Krolg and he's hostile i dont see any quests coming from him can someone tell me why?

The only reason I know of this quest is thanks to Horde-side tradechat spam.

Almost like Blizz names these things like that on purpose...

Doh! I tried to submit a screenshot before submitting my comment and lost the text. So here goes a second try.

First, I can't seem to reply to comments for some reason. There just isn't a "reply" button anywhere on my interface. So I will include the comment I am replying to here:

Alpha704: "Im curious how come i go over to Krolg and he's hostile i dont see any quests coming from him can someone tell me why?" The first time you talk to Krolg, you need to be transformed via the rod or he is hostile.

By the way, I found a way to keep the rod without having to use up a quest slot by not turning in the quest. First, you drop the quest (True Power of the Rod). Second, you talk to Krolg (he is no longer hostile at this point). One of the conversation options will be "Krolg, I need Dartol's Rod!". When this option is selected, you get the rod, at which point you merely don't pick up the quest and you now have the rod without the quest.

I have not tried completing the quest and then talking to Krolg but I am guessing that option will no longer be available. If someone tries it and I am wrong, I am sure they will correct me.

Spaced on the fact that I needed to use the rod and ran in and killed the whole army then told him to rise up. Didn't seem to affect the quest but nothing happened.

Ota is amongst the other furbolg that the orcs have captured and have penned in the giant cage on the north side of Silverwind Refuge. The rod will allow you to convince Ota and the other furbolg to rise up and attack the Horde.
