Simple kill all of the ghosts in the area around Swamplight Manor (56, 25.5) and they will each give you "information" when they die.

I actually was able to get this quest at level 33, not level 34 as shown.

I (a Hunter) was having a lot of trouble getting the information from the ghosts until I stopped letting my pet get the killing blow and instead got the final hit myself. I'm not sure if I'm the only one experiencing this, but if you're having problems with this quest as a pet class, try getting the KB yourself.

I was able to get this quest at 32, not 34. This may be a change since 2.3

Try to kill only the Risen Husks and Risen Spirits around the small ponds and inlets- this will clear the way for easy gathering of Witchbane (which grows near water) for the next quest in the chain:

Strange everytime I would send in FG and just wand them down (60 demo lock) they would never give hints but anytime I put up a curse and wanded them down, a spirit would release. And yes ive proven this everytime i just wand I never got a spirit come out.

Just a note to the hunter above, I too had to dismiss my pet to get this done. THIS IS THE SECOND QUEST (so far) IN DUSTWALLOW MARSH THAT IS ANTI-PET! Anti-petism is ripping the heart out of the game and it's a slap in the face to every hardworking Hunter in the Game! It needs to stop! WE shall overcome! As I've always said so proudly "HUNTERS DO IT WITH THEIR PETS!" Can't we all just get along for the pets (children?). I ASK - WHAT DID MY MONKEY EVER DO TO ANYONE? ...well, he did kick the stuffing out of a few elites, but besides that I mean. Y'all be cool! Right on!- dB

This quest is not obsolete. Just go around killing the spirits, and you gather information.

The quest is functional and is not obsolete. I used the advice of dismissing my pet as a hunter and completed this quest with no problems.

All around the quest giver, you'll see risen spirits, and risen husks.

Kill them. Each kill turns into a person who gives you the information.

5 min quest. :-)

NB: Don't forget to do the "Marsh frog legs" quest in the same area at the same time. 10x one hit kills for some easy EXP.

You Need to be close to the Risen Spirits and the Husks or else you wont get the Restless Apparition to appear

yeah apparently you have to kill them too... i was using my lvl 70 to run my 33 mage through, and the kills from the 70 even ontop of my mage wouldnt work to get the kills, actually had to kill them with the mage to get credit

You can't do ANYTHING to help the person as the previous poster mentioned. lol I'm helping my friend with some quests {I'm 68} and even just casting innervate on her caused the kill to not produce a human.

You (the person with the quest) needs to kill; pets/demons/other combat pets won't suffice, I learned the hard way.

I found out that you can let others help you kill, that's fine. But you will only get the information (apparition) if you are standing right on top of the mob when it dies. They like to keep running from you and keep their distance, but you have to stay right on top of them.

After some fairly non-scientific experimentation on my hunter, I found that if I scored the killing blow, I got the information; if my pet did, then I did not. So, I started putting my pet on passive for the last 5% and had no further problems with this quest.

After trying to get the info to no avail, I tried putting my pet on passive for the very end of the fight, lo and behold it worked. 8 kills 8 messages, So I recon you have to get the kill shot to get the messages.

I can confirm this still is not fixed. Even putting pet on passive for the whole fight is no guarantee that you will get a “good” kill (message from the spirit for quest completion).

Add this quest to the long list of ones to skip due to bugs…your time is better spent elsewhere.

It seems that this quest is now bugged for pet-classes (Hunter, Warlock)

When doing this quest, YOU (i.e. not your pet) must be targeted by the mob when it dies, else it won't count for your quest.

For warlocks: simply dot and drain life the mob down (if you are affliction. else just dot and wand)

For Hunter: dunno really, it's maybe a little more tricky.

coordinats kill all kinda risen spirits or risen husks level 35 to gather information
i advice there is many witchbane to collect for another quest The Witch's Bane
and after all go to to help stinky to escape from raptors :)

Have to kill the ones in the Witch Hill area (your compass will indicate that you are in Witch Hill). Killing the ones right outside the manor doesn't work.

Can confirm that if a hunter pet get's the killing blow then the apparition will not spawn. On my hunter I usually put my pet on passive when I bring the mob down to 30% and finish it solo from there. Be aware that a bleed effect like rake from your pet can possibly get the killing blow.

I traveled out here to pay Jarl a visit at his new home and it's been a nonstop horror show ever since! There's something seriously wrong here and I can't be the only one who sees it...

Have you seen the ghosts and corpses shambling about Witch Hill? I've a feeling that if anyone knows what happened here, it is them. Seek out these risen husks and risen spirits in the surrounding area, grant them rest through combat, and see what you can learn from them before this evil consumes Jarl!
