This ship is at the very SW end of the docks and you have to run up a gangplank to board the ship. There is an empty ship just across from it. You know you have the correct ship when there are mobs patrolling on the decks.

Board the ship, immediately turn left and go through a door way and down some steps. This is the crew quarters. Immediately turn right and then right again and now you're in the captain's quarters.

You're looking for a stack of crates that are sparkling (see screenshot).

The mobs are level 35 - 37 non-elites.

I got 3300 experience points, 35 silver and 250 Stormwind reputation for this.

A hunter friend of mine reported lots of evade bugs on this quest, which my enhancement shaman didn't have any problems with. I suggested running right up to melee range or close to it and that cleared up his problems, so feel free to try that if you're a ranged class seeing the same problem.

Very easy for a 35 feral druid. I just stealthed on the ship and only had to kill the 1 mob in the room with the crates of propaganda. Then just stealthed back out.

Did this quest on my hunter as of patch 2.4.2, and worked fine - no evade bugs, and my pet aboard the ship.

As posted by Holkin aswell, the only time they evade (unless the spawnpoint is bugged as sometimes happens everywhere else in WoW),
is when you are on the docks and they are not.

Appearently, these privateers haven't learned how to walk the plank, and thus cannot leave the ship.
Because they're are all melee type mobs they will evade when you are not on the ship.
I can't hit you, you can't hit me is what they must be thinking.

This can actually be used in your advantage if you can fear or loose aggro in a cerrtain manner.
Run in, fear / feign death / vanish / turn invisible / psychic scream / howl of terror, loot leaflets, get off the ship ( jumping into the water or walking onto the docks.)

Even if you do not have any of the above abilities,
the evade bug can still be used to get out of combat after you cleared and looted the leaflets

As a level 33 priest, this was a bit tough. The privateers respawned in the time it took me to run back from the graveyard. One thing to note, these mobs did not flee when their health was low (if you are depending on a few seconds of taking no damage this is good to know) and my fear did not bring other privateers with them when they ran around.

I also noted evading when I tried to dot mobs while I was on the pier.

This quest is bugged for me on Frostmourne.

37 Dwarf Hunter, I try to enter the boat but my pet will not follow me onto the boat or agro anything, it gets stuck on the ramp. Also, attacking any Privateers on the boat from off the boat will cause evade bug.

I'm skipping it for now.

Lvl 35 Hunter, died once. Go to the SW end of the dock and board ship by gangplank at 67,58. I could not send my pet on ahead to attack. Pet would only join me aboard after I had killed the first mob (though after I had died the first time, my pet joined me on deck for my first fight). After kill 1, turn left from the top of the gangplank, then turn right down the companionway. (From here on, always turn right.) Attacked by three mobs – pet and I killed the first together, then I left pet to deal with the second while I took on the third with an explosive trap, and ranged spells as I backed up the companionway. I went back down into the saloon and sent pet ahead to turn right and attack last mob in captain’s quarters while I raided the boxes for the missing leaflets.

yes the quest of the ship is bugged your pet doesnt walk on that board when on the open sea you should dismiss and call it in the ship the ur fixed

The captain lives in the rear of the boat, in the room with the big windows that you will see from the outside of the ship.

To get there, walk across the plank and take a left into the door. Walk down the stairs, and loop back around heading towards the back of the boat. The leaflets looks like a big pile of boxes which you can right click.

Your pet will not "charge" across the plank. You must be on the boat in order to engage your pet. Walk onto the boat and he will follow you, at that time you can have the pet attack.

WOW, this quest is bugged... pet had a hard time to come aboard, couldn't use my long-range weapon... mobs far away were engaging me hand-to-hand.

if you wait a small 20 seconds or around that, you will be able to take the quest " Discrediting the deserters ".

Wow what worthless posts how does how many times you die or what level you are when doing quest help me...With that said you are in Theramore facing the boats go to the very right most dock. Once there, there will be two boats the boat that is the furthest away with npc's patroling is the one you want :)

You'd never expect where the box is, just go in the boat to the far right (it looks like u can almost ride it to take you somwhere) and its in the captains room (on stairs look to left) and ull see the room! (the mobs are only 35 and 36s) =)

lol as a lv 34 rogue i just stealthed past all.
Sapped one guard blinded the other then vanished out.

If your pet gets stuck on the ramp just make it passive then make it defensive again and he should pop up beside u and start attacking dudes as he/she usually does! hope that helps! :D

Do NOT go in the water! I made the mistake, but the boat is on the end of the extreme far right dock as you face the water at 67,58. There is a small board for a ramp in order to get on the ship that you may have trouble seeing.

When you get on the ship, the stairs are to the left. I had only one mob on the top deck. Once at the bottom of the stairs, 2 mobs attacked me simultaniously. The door to the area where the crates are is to your right on the same wall you just entered. There was one mob hiding right inside the door to the right on a barrel, and the one in the crate room aggroed as soon as I entered the doorway. Once I dispatched them and got the crate, I left and a dwarf had already respawned downstairs, and another mob respawned upstairs too. This was within 2 minutes.

Done with level 33 druid using cat form.

Ok here is the trick to this, I did it as a level 32 mage. DO NOT go into the Captains cabin, you can get the wheel from outside his room standing by the wall without triggering the 2 mobs inside, then just run. Good luck

i just did this chain on my 70 because I was bored as my HS cooldown was down.. so while waiting, i did this and a few other easy quests.. so, I swim out there, run right to this guy without aggroing anything, and soul-fire him. I accidentaly killed him. had to wait for respawn :)
at least he dropped a blue :D

My pet won't go onboard and the privateers won't come off the ship. My pet won't even attempt to attack them and won't follow me if I run away once my pet is on the gang plank. Very bugged if you ask me. Hard for me to kill anything when I am speced to use a pet.

If you want your pet to go with you, make him stay far away from the ship and after you get out of range and on the ship, summon him. He'll appear with you. That's how I did it on level 34 NE Hunter.

I was helped by 3 stuck mobs, who I initially attacked.

Then I decided maybe the whole thing was stuck, ran down and tried to grab the loot, and got attacked. I used Psychic Scream, looted, bubbled and ran out ;)

Of course, this was a cheap way, but it worked with the circumstances - I did try to kill them, they just wouldn't respond.

This quest has been updated since the last druid went through. As a level 35 druid, I tried to prowl down into the ship, there is one pirate mob blocking the hall into the captain's quarters and another inside the captain's quarters. I couldn't get past him even with cower and died six times. Aggro-ing him brings all four from that deck down on top of you and no way to fight 4 to 5 level 36s at the same time. So, just went back and killed them one at a time, pulled first mob off top deck then moved to netting over middle deck and pulled one to come up on top deck, then dropped down killed two in mess hall one at a time, pulled mob blocking hallway and then as I entered hall, aggroed last one and killed him, forget this prowl business

Yes, easy quest also. Go to the ship farthest to the east (right as you go from town) on the docks. 5-6 mobs.

As a druid I was able to prowl down. Just boarded ship, went right and dropped down to middle deck. Enterered the left side door avoiding pirate mobs. Entered the room at the back. There was on mob near the loot which will aggro when you loot so I killed that first, another mob aggroed from just outside the door, so two mobs to deal with but at lvl 36 it was no issue. Then looted and made my way out. from middle deck take the door on the right and up out.

Back to the quest giver Calia Hastings at . Reward confirmed as 35 silver, 3.3k xp and +250 with SW at lvl36.

The ship is at the dock to the right. Deserter Propaganda is below deck at 67,58 ( just turn right all the time when you get down there). You'll have to get through 5-6 lvl 35's.No biggie :-)

easy quest.
just pick them off one by one.
boxes are glowing in the captains cabin.
privateers range from 35 - 36.
soloed this as a level 33 mage.

I am on the right ship at the coordinates listed (the one that looks like a ship that might leave the dock) but there is nobody there. I go below deck to the captains quarters but there are no boxes. I don't understand. Anyone know what's going on?

The deserter agents were doing far more than just chatting up the guards. We've found a number of leaflets the deserters somehow managed to smuggle in on a ship in the docks.

The ship used to transport the leaflets is still in Theramore, at the farthest dock. If you can sneak aboard and capture the rest of their propaganda documents, their agents will lose their most powerful tool. Be careful! The ship is manned by seasoned privateers and the cargo is probably being kept in the captain's quarters.
