This weapon is dropped by Iron Council (10) in Ulduar. It shares the model of "Hailstorm" this model is merely temporary, it is a place holder.

This item is intended to be an upgrade from Slayer of the Lifeless which is part of the 10 man progression path.

Someone starting Ulduar with Last Laugh would look for Titanguard as an upgrade as part of the 25 man progression path.

Another thing that I noticed about this is that the upgrades seem to even out difficulty wise. They made it easier to get Slayer of the Lifeless, as it is from the 2nd boss of a wing, so they made it be the 3rd required boss, or 6th if you don't follow Ulduar linearly. Last Laugh was harder to get as it was from the last boss, in 25 man naxx. While Titanguard drops from the first, and arguable easiest boss in the instance. So they tried to even it out.

Oh, and this also drops from Kologarn.

Got this "sword" today, and gotta say that i'm a bit disapointed.
While the stats are all good, the model is crap. It looks more like a dagger then a sword - or as someone else put it, a friggen toothpick.

Grabbed this dude yesterday, and as some of you might he interested, I thought I'd show what all you loose and gain going from slayer of the lifeless to this:

Slayer has:

+ 0.11 doge (from defense)
+0.20 block (from defense)

Stoneguard has:

+7 hit
+12 stamina
+6 strength
About 20 dps

And a sword with the tiny face of a titan on it :D

All in all, this is a nice upgrade that's not super hard to get.

With no Def rating, i would love to snag this as a DPS DW DeathKnight ( Yes it is still viable, doing 3.5-4k DPS in 10 mans) with the same DPS and strength and hit rating this would be great as a DPS weapon for a DW DK.

This is a very nice Prot Paladin/Prot Warrior PVP weapon.

The DPS is one thing, but this comes with lots of STR to help out with SBV.
Secondly, no item points spent on defense means this also comes with nice stam and dodge for survivability.
Finally, the hit rating doesn't hurt at all.

The dodge rating is nice, but defense is still generally considered a superior avoidance stat because it provides dodge, parry, (block--mitigation), and chance to be missed. Getting a small buff on 3.1.2, the sword now provides 31 dodge rating and 30 parry rating.
Other stats remain untouched.

A nice weapon overall, but: this weapon has no def on it. Make sure you have a lot of extra def rating before start using this, as you might wanna stay defcapped for raids. I had 540 def with https://www.cuckhead.com/cata/item=37401 equipped, and lost 8 (7.73) when I equipped this one. So I suggest tanks who get this sword wait with using it until they get some better gear from ulduar, unless they stay defcapped with Stoneguard equipped.

This weapon is best compared against Legacy of Thunder, since these are the two tanking weapons available in the Normal-Mode 10-player Antechamber of Ulduar. A comparison of the two weapons can be found here.

The Legacy of Thunder has Defense in the place of Parry and Expertise in the place of Hit:

Legacy of Thunder:
23 Expertise Rating (2.81 expertise)
26 Defense Rating (5.29 defense, which is 0.21% dodge, parry, block and miss, combined, this is (0.21 x 3 (dodge, parry, miss)) 0.63% avoidance total)

Stoneguard:
24 Hit Rating (0.73 hit chance)
30 Parry Rating (0.61% parry chance)

This means Stoneguard has 0.61% avoidance whereas the Legacy of Thunder has 0.63% avoidance, a nearly insubstantial difference. However keep in mind that the Defense rating on the Legacy of Thunder can help you maintain your Defense Cap whereas Stoneguard will not. Also, Stoneguard's Hit Chance means it's a better choice if you're looking to become hit capped for those pesky taunt-vital fights (Thorim, Razorscale et al).

They're both generally equal weapons.

Nice sword. I like to call it the "Nose Blade". If you look close enough, the blade is an extension of the hilt faces nose. That's a big schnauzer!
